Veal scaloppine, Marsala wine mushroom demi-glaze cream sauce, served with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. Absolutely delicious! If I were to slit hairs I would not serve the giant asparagus but the thin asparagus or asparagus tips. The sauce was perfect. The meat was luscious and tender. Melt in your mouth. It was happenstance that we ended up here. We had planned to go to another restaurant but they were closed for a special event. We had passed Bucatino on the way there and noted it would be a good place to try at some point. This became some point. There is plenty of parking as it is adjacent to a large shopping center parking lot. We were welcomed and seated promptly. We passed their well appointed bustling bar area where several folks were enjoying a beverage and meal. We were sat in a booth and found that it was an extended Happy Hour due to it being Monday. My husband and I both ordered a glass of the Montepulciano wine from the happy hour menu, our son opted for lemonade. Theresa, our server, answered all our questions and was quite helpful. She brought us bread with their dipping oil laced with herbs and garlic. What a treat! I ordered the happy hour Margherita pizza, and Theresa was right, it is the size of a dinner plate! I love the classic red sauce, mozzarella and basil combo. My husband chose the Salamino pizza from the same menu. This was red sauce, mozzarella and spicy salami. The crust was done perfectly, crisp on the bottom and tender at the edges. Our son chose the Bucatini Bolognese. It came topped with Roman pecorino cream to stir through. He is a huge fan of Bolognese sauce so he looks for it when we go out for Italian. He said this was delicious and meaty. the Bucatini pasta was a nice al dente and hearty enough to hold the sauce. The restaurant was staffed for a usual Monday, I think. They did not expect the crowd that came. With the restaurant we had planned to go to being closed for the night and this being close by, I think they had some spill over there. As well it was the day before a storm was forecast so folks were getting out for delicious food before being hunkered down in the cold and snow. When we first arrived most of the dining room was available. By the time we left all the seating had filled with more coming in. The staff handled it like champs. I have been to this restaurant twice. The first time was in the afternoon for appetizers and a few drinks. The meatballs taste EXACTLY like the little meatballs that come in Spaghetti O's. I'm not joking. Rubbery, heavy, solid ball of yuck. One bite and I was brought back to my childhood years of eating that stuff. Not good. We were not given bread, no big deal. Drinks were good, even after overhearing the bartender ask our server if our order was a misprint. Ha ha, I guess? The second time we went it was .... not good. The hostess greeted us with "Do you have a reservation?" to which we replied "No." She sighed and said "We'll seat you anyway." Oh, gee thanks. If this place is going to require you to have a reservation, they should make that very clear somewhere. The tables in our section were practically on top of one another. We had to get other diners to move so that we could get into our chairs. Awful for all of us. Our waitress was detached and seemed annoyed with our presence. I'm assuming because we didn't order alcohol she considered us a throwaway low dollar table, because that's exactly how she treated us. She forgot our appetizer, didn't offer us dessert and was inattentive the entire time. Her loss because we usually tip 30%. The bread was the only good part of the dinner. Basic bread with olive oil herb to dip it in. Nothing to rave about but yummy. Lasagna was cold. They took it back, reheated it and it was still cold in the middle. It had crunchy vegetables in it, as if they weren't sauteed correctly. The sauce was too bright and tart. No depth or seasoning. The pollo picatta was decent. However, it didn't have enough sauce and I was charged $1.00 for extra capers. I think they gave me 10 extra capers. Ugh. When we finished our entrees, the waitress came with our check in hand. We were not offered dessert, just a plain old "Anything else?" as she put the bill on the table. "I guess not." I said out loud. Dined here the other week for dinner and I'm contemplating whether I'd return to give them a second chance. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess, who was not very friendly or welcoming. She also gave us a bit of an attitude and rolled her eyes at us when we asked to move one table over so we wouldn't be seated right behind another party. There were many tables available inside, so I don't understand what the issue was. Luckily our waitress, Chelsea, was very friendly and made up for the rude "welcoming" we had just experienced. After reviewing the menu, we ordered the calamari to start, chicken piccata, bucatini bolognese, and paella. Unfortunately, the only delicious item was the calamari. The chicken piccata was okay in flavor, the bucatini bolognese came out cold, and the paella was like glue and tasted off. We ended up leaving most of the bolognese and paella because neither of them were appetizing enough to eat. The piccata could've used more flavoring and umami, but I ate most of it anyway--not the worst I've had. We informed our waitress about the food at the end of our meal, and in return, she informed us that it was the head chef's night off. I guess that could've been the reason why the food was mostly unsatisfactory. It was clear she felt bad about our experience even though it wasn't her fault--her efforts to try to make things right were greatly appreciated. For now, I think I'll be sticking to cooking Italian food at home. If I'm ever in the area and feel like Italian food, maybe I'd consider coming here, but I would never go out of my way and drive from Boulder to dine here. read more

Amazing staff and service. I had three items off the happy hour menu at $10 each. I was not impressed at all with the bruschetta. The sausage and peppers were very good. Only had 2 servers who were running the entire place. Blame management for putting them in this position on a Sunday of all days. Spaghetti Carbanara was good but cold, my girlfriend's Aglio Olio was uncooked (way beyond AlDente) and had no juice in the bowl. Asked for more bread and server never brought it. In fact, we hardly ever saw her and she never came by to check on us but was very much on time to bring the bill and cash us out. Once again, I blame management for putting only two people in charge. The service was friendly and helpful, though a little slow and we had to get up to find someone for some things we needed. We ordered from the happy hour menu: the arancini was good not great. It was a bit bland and more bready than ricey if that makes sense. The pizza was flavorful but the crust was a bit soggy for our liking. My husband has been here before and had a better food experience. They are still fairly new and we will definitely be back to give them a chance. The location is great and the atmosphere lovely. Would help a lot if there wre lunch friendly portions and prices. Burrata app : 5 stars -- fantastic, literally my favorite thing I ate there. Chicken Marsala : 3 stars -- good portion size, chicken overcooked (dry and a bit tough) since it was a sliced thin breast, very easy to overcook. sauce had a lot of mushrooms but the sauce itself didn't have much depth of flavor. Bucatini al Forno : 2 stars -- its basically lasagna without the layering or structure. Its all 'thrown together' and I really didnt enjoy it... and I LOVE lasagna but this was like mashed lasagna . noodles were way overcooked too, almost mushy soft. read more

First let me preface this with the fact that I am celiac and Italian restaurants typically don't mix well with this particular food restriction given the abundance of gluten in Italian foods. That said, we came here after reading a new restaurant opened up with... gluten free options! This is a rare find in the land of Italian gluten free eating so we finally made it out. For my gluten free friends, probably not the most gluten free friendly place. The menu was rather hard to navigate outside the substitute for gluten free pasta when possible for $5 more. To me, $5 more seems like insult to injury given the other pasta is home made but... they also do change the water etc to reduce chance of cross contamination. So I get it. This is more about food envy and less about the justification of the up charge. The food tastes just fine, the pasta was definitely gluten free, the texture was as close to pasta as possible minus the gluten free pasta breakage. Overall, glad we tried it! Would recommend for people who eat gluten. My husband had lobster ravioli which looked divine. read more

A new, sit down Italian restaurant is in old town Lafayette! Its interior has a bar area, tables and booth, and they also have an outdoor patio. My husband wouldn't try it because he was afraid of being disappointed especially after frequent visits to Arthur Avenue when we lived in New York. So I decided on take - out. The staff is friendly, cordial, and asked how my day was. I decided on the classic veal Marsala. It came with 3 very thin scalloppine, mashed potatoes, and roasted asparagus. But where is the mushroom?! If you put back the mushroom in this dish, I'll be a frequent diner. For now $26 without mushrooms I will be looking for another Italian restaurant. read more

I've now been here a couple of times and will continue going back. We have enjoyed every cocktail we ordered. The wine list is excellent and well priced. We have enjoyed the artichoke app (we asked for marinara as the dipping sauce, which we all loved). The trout a la mone was my favorite dish I've eaten out in a while. My one gripe is that they teach someone to cut bread. It's always squished when it comes to our table. They have a wonderful happy hour! Great service every time we've been and we enjoy the loud ish atmosphere, it seems people who go there are all having a great time. Looking forward to going back for my birthday soon. read more

Food: I tried lots of different things! I tried the arancini, which was amazing! Also tried the Scampetti which was also good and had a nice flavor. I had a little bit of the Rapa salad, which was good. I enjoyed the golden beets. But, the one thing is that the lemon vinaigrette was not very flavorful and seemed like it was just plain olive oil poured on it. I had the Bucatini Al Forno for my main entree and that was DELICIOUS! The depth of flavor was outstanding, and the noodles were also good. Service: Good! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Ambience: Also good! I enjoyed the decor, it felt very cozy, and I got the traditional Italian vibe. My only complaint is the tables, the tables for two were extremely small, especially if you have multiple appetizers coming out. Overall! Yummy! Hubs n I ate here the Sunday after Valentine's Day to avoid the rush. We arrived at 8:15 pm so a bit late. No matter, our server Teresa was exemplary! The ambiance is romantic and beautiful. The complimentary bread and dipping oil is A-Mazing! I ordered some chicken dish that I can't remember the name of. It's in my pics tho. The chicken was tender and delicious with the Demi sauce. Very good. The spinach was very flavorful and we both loved it. The mashed potatoes leave something to be desired. Obviously fresh but they were cold and bland. I guess they tasted really good with the slightly salty Demi sauce. I don't think I'll order this again, but I'm definitely excited to try other chicken dishes here. Hubby ordered the Romana pizza. It had salami, sausage and prosciutto along with a couple of different kind of cheeses. This was absolutely delicious. Everything from the sauce to the meats to the crust was exceptional. I ate the leftovers for breakfast the next morning and it was still delicious even cold. We did order a dessert to go. A chocolate mousse with hazelnut cake? I have no idea what the name of it is. It was really delicious but definitely a tiny tiny piece. Not really enough to share. Maybe four bites? I will probably not order that again. This was our second visit. Our first was during their first week and though the food was inconsistent, we chalked it up to being new. We decided to go back last night and give it a try since we had seen some positive reviews on the Lafayette community Facebook pages. We will not be back. It was a Sunday evening. They were open till 9:00 and we arrived at 8:00. There were only two other tables occupied. Did we arrive too late and the staff was frustrated? I would hope not given that they are open till 9:00. But the bread we were served was cold and super dense and hard. I see reviews suggesting that the complimentary bread and pesto is delicious - there was no pesto, just a cup of plain olive oil. We ordered the fried jerusalem artichoke appetizer and both the artichokes and the dipping sauce were way too salty. Then our entrees arrived. I ordered the bucatini al forno and there was clearly no forno involved. My pasta was lukewarm, overcooked, and swimming in far too much sauce and the glob of mozzarella on the top was not even fully melted, much less browned the way the description suggests. I will say that the service was fantastic. Our server was great and attentive and certainly inquired as to whether or not everything was okay. Why didn't we tell them that we were not happy? I don't know. I know that it is typically best to give the restaurant an opportunity to meet your needs before doing a public review. However, when I started reading the reviews, I see that there are quite a few indicating lukewarm food, mushy pasta, and inconsistent quality. And yet, they are clearly not hearing that feedback and making changes. In addition, I saw that there are several poor reviews which were responded to defensively by the management. So that does not make me feel optimistic that my complaints would have been met appropriately. However, I want to be fully transparent that we did not give them the opportunity to respond to us directly. Regardless, I will not be going back. For a restaurant with $20+ entrees, there should be enough of a concern about quality control that a pasta dish should not be served lukewarm with barely melted cheese on top. read more

I have visited this classic Italian eatery a few times, both for lunch and dinner, and everything I've tasted was very good. The atmosphere is casual and pleasant, with a nice bar area, a fairly big main room flanked with booths along a wall, another space in the back that can be used for parties, and a nice patio on the side. On a recent Saturday evening, the place was surprisingly busy (and the staff seemed to have a hard time keeping up), and parking was difficult, likely because the mega church had a service at that time. Otherwise, there are usually plenty of spots available. Otherwise, the service has been attentive, and the sliced baguette that comes with pesto oil was brought with the drinks and tasted wonderful. Out of the few dishes I've tried, I especially like the Salsiccia, a light appetizer made of spicy Italian sausage with broccolini and cherry peppers, and the Ravioli Funghi with a truffle cream sauce. I still have plenty to discover out of their wide menu, including the pizza! read more

So sad the food is decent but I just don't think they have their stuff together enough. I work from home and look forward to getting a pizza or something in the early evening after I finish working. I go to their website and it says the restaurant closes at 9 PM. I called just before 8:30 PM to order a happy hour pizza (Monday HH all night) and some other items and was told the kitchen closes at 8:30 PM. Well, I called before 8:30 PM. I called back to talk to a manager and asked her why the website said they were open till 9 when the kitchen closes at 8:30 PM. I was told the bar was open till 9 and not the kitchen. So, if guests walk in to order food a little after 8:45 PM then they would turn them away? I highly doubt it. I was told by the host when I initially called, before 8:30, that the kitchen was closed already. The manager did offer to take my order but at that point, knowing the kitchen was closed, I didn't want to do it. I think was partially frustrating is I grew up working the food industry and was taught that, "I don't care if a customer walks in at 8:59 and we close at 9. You smile and take their order." Anyhoo, I've had a bunch of issues in the past when calling in but try not to complain too much here, but it's just not worth it. If you stop serving food at 8:30 then update your website and let people know. It's really a let down to be working expecting to get some pizza and to be told they close a half hour early then the website says. The manager was also a tad confrontational. I gave them two stars because the food is tasty, but their inconsistency with everything I've experienced is just not worth it anymore. Our waiter was very polite and extremely knowledgeable, which was really helpful because since this is a new restaurant, we asked a lot of questions about their selections. Sorry to say, but I just had the worst restaurant experience I can remember having in the last decade. We arrived at 6:20 for a 6:30 reservation, we sat at our table for almost 15 minutes before anyone came over for anything. I got up to speak to the manager at 6:48 at which point our cocktail order had been taken but nothing but water (that we had to ask for) was delivered. We did not receive a cocktail until 30 minutes after being seated and still had to ask for bread. After speaking to the manager nothing improved. Our waiter, Evan, was obviously new and perhaps overwhelmed, but after I had talked to the manager I would have thought he would have stepped in to assist. He did not check on us a single time throughout the evening until we were leaving. I ordered a Peroni only to be told that the bartender poured nothing but foam, I wasn't offered any options for a replacement or even offered to see the cocktail menu. Our whole party of 6 was completely turned off by the experience, our entire bill was about $300 and could have easily been double that with just half decent service. We had to ask for water THREE times. The food was tasty, but unfortunately it was tepid when served. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the manager upon leaving and again, nothing was even attempted to make amends. We had high hopes as we had heard good things, but we won't be returning after a horrendous experience in an establishment that was far from capacity. read more

Very disappointing- made reservations 3 days in advance. Arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes early for our reservation and checked in. The restaurant was very busy so we knew we would be waiting at least till our reservation time. There were people coming in and checking in without Reservations.. They were being told it was anywhere for 35 to 40 minute wait. A party of three came in and went up to the desk and checked in and they were told it would be a 45 minute wait they were standing right next to us. Five minutes after the party of three arrived they were seated. Even though they had been told it was a 45 minute wait. There were four other guests all with 6:30 reservations like us waiting as this party with no reservations were seated. I went up to the desk and asked why it was that we had made a reservation for 630 and it was now 6:45 and a party of three who had walked in five minutes ago without reservations and being told there was a 45 minute wait was seated before us. The young girl who was very rude said " well it isn't my fault I was taking orders but the way it works is we don't give a large table way for a party of two. I explained to her we had now been waiting for 39 minutes with a reservation and all she could say was it will be another 40 minute wait ma'am.. I let her know this was very poor way of doing business. She said there was nothing she could do and began talking to someone else. We left as did one other couple who had been waiting as long as us. You just lost at least 4 customers. You should not have two inexperienced, rude hostesses working on a busy night, they were clearly unprepared for how to manage the flow at the door resulting in poor costumer service. read more

Overpriced food with tables situated 3 inches from each other. Enjoy an expensive meal when you can barely hear yourself think, let alone enjoy conversation with your party. I felt like I was having 3 discussions with the people around us. Waiter was rude, came off elitist and snobby, and didn't understand simple requests, took 15 minutes to bring water & bread (the bread being moist, underbaked, and served with a small bowl of olive oil instead of olive oil & vinaigrette like everyone who's eaten Italian before is accustomed to). I recommend a restaurant that isn't packing in customers like sardines and overcharging them for Caucasian-interpreted Italian food. read more

The hostess was not that welcoming and when we asked if we could sit one booth over from the people already seated she gave us some serious stink eye. It is simply good etiquette to seat diners with some space until it gets filled up. It wasn't even 5pm yet and there were only 3 tables in the entire main dining room being used when we arrived. We got the menus and our lovely server talked to us and took our drink and appetizer orders. We thought we would start with the calamari which was on the happy hour menu- discounted a few dollars and very good. Hot, crispy, and made to order. Unfortunately the calamari and the bread were the best part of the dinner as they were fresh and the calamari was freshly fried. We had the special paella and the homemade bucatini bolognese and the chicken piccata. All three dishes came out at the same time, roughly 10 minutes after we were seated, which should have been a warning. The paella was a big, thick, gluey pile of pre-assembled sausage and seafood and was not appetizing to view or to eat. It had obviously just been reheated, not made to order. The bucatini was also cold in the middle and not flavorful. We left 95% of each dish as it wasn't something we would enjoy eating. The chicken piccata was fine, not special and even the potatoes and spinach sides were bland and under-seasoned. We added butter, salt and pepper and parmesan cheese to them which helped. The server was very nice when we told her that we didn't want to box anything to go and we told her that the she shouldn't recommend the paella as it would be a major disappointment to anyone who has ever eaten paella before. I just had paella in Honolulu this summer and had to wait for 40 minutes for it to come out of the oven and it was superb. Maybe we ordered all the wrong dishes here. We would consider another go at this place as we are on a mission to find all of the good eateries in the area but so far, it has been a challenge. We have only found 1 great Thai restaurant and 1 good Mexican restaurant and we eat out at least 5 times a week for entertainment and fun. read more

We split a bottle of Washington Cabernet for $27 because of their Tuesday special. Skipped dessert but ended with a steaming fresh cappuccino. Pros: food was great and came out hot, service was good, prices were decent, great wine selection and a Tuesday discount made it quite reasonable. Desserts looked scrumptious as they passed our table. Cons: the place is large and jam packed with tables, even the servers had difficulty maneuvering around them. We were practically sitting on top of our neighbors. Not sure if they added more seating because it was a high demand night but it was a bit noisy and felt cramped. Overall I'd recommend it and would return. The food was fresh and house prepared. It was hard to choose from so many great options and I'll try a different dish next time. read more
