I was compelled to try Tommy's after learning that Sang Yoon--head chef of Father's Office in Santa Monica--described it as "the only way to cure all that ails." I'd probably agree with him if I spent last night downing butterscotch schnapps with Shane MacGowan, but alas, this was not the case. On a regular, Inland Empire afternoon, the chili double cheeseburger with everything is like a transdimensional alien. You open the steaming wrapper to find a throbbing blob of chili, cheese, pickles and onions, straining the bun to its fibers. There is no way to eat this burger without coating your face, hands and clothing, so drive-thru probably isn't the best choice. As for the flavors, what can I say? Chili and American cheese are outstanding with a tender beef patty. It's a burger that forces you to eat more, even when you begin to disgust yourself. Does that make it great? Perhaps. Just like every other Tommy's out there, this place has delicious chili burgers and fries. I was excited to find this location since I did not know that they made it this far into the Inland Empire. I think the secret's not out about this one- it's always pretty slow here. But if you're in the mood for a great fast-food chili burger, stop here. Beware though: they charge to use your debit card. I don't know if they changed their quality or if my blissful memories were over hyped, but the chili was pretty bland. On the plus side they do heap it on and service is quick. I have heard such good things about Tommy's and pass it frequently thinking to go. On a friend's suggestion to go, upon changing original dinner plans, I was really excited to see what the hype was about. -The prices are very decent. -The menu is small and simple-- nice and orderly. Nothing too overwhelming, which is common in many burger chains these days. -The drink size is generous: stick to a medium cup-- it's a general size large at other places, and you have the ability to refill. -The atmosphere is small and typical. -Lastly, the food was extremely subpar: I order the caliente burger, which sounded appealing (I had to ask the cashier what it was since descriptions aren't posted): pepper jack cheese, peperoncini, and pickled onions (weirdly vinegary in taste) on a single patty burger. I asked for the chili on the side, which I am so grateful for, because as it sat there while I ate my burger, the chili and oil separated so badly that it was visibly evident how unhealthy it was and how unhealthy you'd feel after consuming it. All in all, the food was not memorable or worthy for a return visit or second try. The food in this restaurant is terrible but even more worse is how they treat their employees. Our mother was admitted to the hospital and placed in ICU and they told my sister that she should be more responsible and come into work. She said she was being responsible and caring for her family. She was let go. My sister had also heard that they fired an employee when his Mother died and he couldn't come into work. She thought there must be more to the story but obviously not! This place was A-OK. I used to always eat Tommy's (hence major weight gain in middle school) and so I went for old times sake since it was in the Sprouts plaza. I have to say this was the worst food I've ever had. I love Tommys I've been to many different locations and it's always the same delicious. But not this place I ordered A #4 chilli dog meal with chili cheese fries I ordered the dog with cheese no tomato or pickles I got a hot dog with sum chili and about a 1/4 cup of onions. The fries were cold and soggy the chili was so cold most of the cheese didn't melt. It took way to long to get our food specially since we were the only ones there. I am so disappointed. Ive gone to several Tommys for over 20 years and have never had a complaint until today. The person taking in the order in the drive thru had no clue what she was doing, we were in the drive thru for a very long time, the hamburger meat was hard and the chili was not good. I asked for a side of chili cheese and there was literally the smallest scoop of chili and a piece of cheese in a separate holderbox. Seemed like they were already shutting down before 10 and was suprised that they were still getting customers and just threw the leftover old meat and chili on the bread. Horrible experience! Oh my, my first time having a chili burger ever. I ordered the cheeseburger for $2.45. Delicious. Too much chili though, but it was freakin gooooood. There were no customers (went on a Fri night after I got off work so it was about 10pm). They close at 11pm. The guys behind the counter were supercool. Tommy's is a classic!! Of course, not a food to enjoy on a regular basis but more as a treat. Chili is not very appealing to the eye, but it is delicious. My husband and I thought we would go somewhere different so we tried this Tommys burger. First of all when we ordered, we ordered a la carte or no meals. We didnt need the drinks because we had our own water bottles. My husband just paid it and waited for the food at the counter. I was already seated. He got the food and brought them to our table. Then he says, " I cant believe it was so expensive for just us. I grabbed the receipt and realized they charged us for 2 extra large meals. My husband takes our drinks back and tells them we didnt want the meals, just burgers and chili. We were in a time crunch because we had to go pick up our son real soon. The cashier person could not figure anything out... it took forever and then when he couldnt figure the problem out, he called someone else and they insisted my husband said yes when asked if we wanted to make it a meal. He didnt because we had our water bottles with us. Anyways about 12 minutes later I go up and tell them his food is cold and we got to get our son in 5 minutes. So my husband said forget the refund and came and ate real fast and we left. The chili was aweful... it was like a liquid paste or wet coffee grounds mush full of grease and just looked gross. It tasted like it looked. After one bite neither of us ate any more of the chili. However the burger was good. I will never go here again. I just finished this review from 2 years ago. We had ordered some chili cheese fries and there was barely any cheese or chili. There was only a very little bit of it in one corner. And that was 5 dollars.
