orkin bought out an existing pest conrol company that i had delt with for years. They raised the monthly fee dramaticly and stoped doing service in the false celing of my commercial building. multiple rodents died in the ceiling causing a bad oder and a masive fly infestation. they refused to deal with it! I had togo up in the ceiling and deal with it. Not good at providing the service just at colecting thier fee. They refused to refund any money and made it difficult to cancel the account. read more

Overall Orkin is ok. The bug spray works decent and keeps pests away, but we're clean too so that helps. We have the quarterly service so they come every 3rd month. My wife and I live in a forested area so we see a lot of spiders and ants. Some frustrating details include what's advertised on their website they do not do. On their website, the Orkin Points of Service state: "INVESTIGATE We'll inspect your home from top to bottom, inside and out, for current or potential pest problems PROTECT We'll treat the perimeter of your structure with the appropriate materials, remove all accessible spiderwebs and wasp nests, and use the safest methods available FORTIFY We'll do everything we can to keep insects out -seal, caulk, plug, and secure gaps and cracks KEEP WATCH We'll treat the interior of your home and install pest monitors in critical areas such as kitchens, baths, utility rooms, and garages REPORT We'll always provide a detailed report of services rendered and recommendations to help keep your home free of pests FOLLOW UP We'll stay in touch between our regularly scheduled visits and respond to any immediate needs" The most investigating they do is ask you questions. They do not remove spider webs or wasp nests. Them treating the perimeter is literally them spraying bug spray around the house. They do not seal, they do not caulk and they do not secure gaps and cracks. Never even seen the pest monitors they use to monitor pest activity. There's no detailed report, of anything they tell you what to expect and to call if you need them. They do not follow up with you between visits. It's a total rip off. I've even spoke to the manger of the offices and he said that they don't have to do everything on the website. We saw some ants and spiders the other day and I called to get someone sent out for free per their guarantee. The lady moved up the scheduled visit to today the 9th of April instead of the 27th of April when we were originally scheduled. When I asked if this visit would be free because of the guarantee, she said that it's policy to move up the day of the service and charge regular price if bugs are reported during the same month. So I had to pay full price for someone to come and take care of the bugs instead of them standing behind their guarantee. The ONLY 2 reasons I am giving them 2 stars and not 1 is SOLELY because of Devon M. White and that they're formula keeps bugs away. Devon is very educational and thorough and gives up tips to keep our basement and house pest free. He is extremely knowledgeable and patient and makes sure all our needs are met as best as they can be. Other than those two reasons, Orkin is extremely disappointing and do not honor what they saw on their own website. UPDATE REGARDING THE ORKIN COMMENT BELOW The comment below by Orkin that invites me to call them is to a generic number. It's not even to an actual person. I called Orkin for rodent control. The inspector said I needed a rodent exclusion trench. The cost was $3000. It did not prevent the rodents from entering my home and garage. I was shocked when I inspected the job. There were gaps all around the perimeter of my home, and the barrier was only visible in a few places. There was no barrier under my deck, behind my bushes. I called the inspector and she came the next day. She got on the phone with her boss and ingored me. Her whole demeanor changed. She took pictures but refused to take the ones of the ovbious gaps she stated that "if I wanted the pictures to take them myself". She did however acknowledge that there were gaps, and they needed to come back. I no longer trust Orkin. I believe they are dishonest. I asked for a refund. I called the office and asked for the manager to call me back. He did not. I called back three times before he took my call. He did offer to have the worker come back. I have lost all confidence in this company to do a quality job. I reached out to corporate customer service, and asked for a call back. No reply. Please do not waste your time or money. Orkin did not have any interest in rectifying my pest issue. They wanted to make a quick buck off of replacing insullation with overpriced stuff. The pest issue has gotten worse and more damage has been done to the new insulation as well as my home and personal belongings. No matter how many times we contacted the company to have them rectify the issue we still have no resolve 6 months later. The mental and physical turmoil I have endured is unacceptable and I am concerned for the health and well-being of my family and myself. I've never been more dissatisfied with a business servicing my residence. I couldn't leave less than one star, but honestly they don't deserve even one. I've basically been donating money to this company for months for absolutely nothing. I had five salesmen in my home to begin with, making all sorts of promises. Since then I have never had a technician come back out in six months. No one has come to change out the traps or get the dead squirrel in traps. I was given a cell phone number for the technician and told that I would be working with him directly and he'd be responsive. I have NEVER heard from or had a response for any of my calls. I've tried customer service and they seem to deal with this all the time and are callous to my plite. Of course the manager ALWAYS just stepped out and is unavailable. I am the property manager of a mobile home park. I have a tenant that has mice...after scheduling an appointment with the "local" Orkin company out of Great Falls, MT and after ENSURING they will work with a 30day net payment, the tech arrived and was unwilling to complete the treatment without payment up front. After getting the correct information regarding payment (to put a card on file that they can charge at the time of service), I rescheduled the tech to come back out. It was going to be a month wait, because they are pretty far from me, which I was fine with. However, that day came and went with a no call-no show. I have since called back 3 times. The 1st 2 times I was told a tech or someone would call me back to schedule the appointment and it never happened. Today on my 3rd call, after being on hold for 15 minutes, I was hung up on. My biggest problem here is that Orkin is my ONLY option. We are remote and don't have a pest control company any closer to us than the Orkin in Great Falls. And so now I have a tenant with mice that I can't help and I feel terrible that this lovely lady has to live with unwelcome house guests because Orkin can't be bothered. read more

He follows all safety precautions, which makes me very comfortable. If I'm at home, he asks me questions about any pests and let's me know about any necessary additional visits. I have 26 optometrist offices in the southeast. I had Orkin come out to spray. The technician was polite and informative. The home office is so unorganized that they cant keep anything straight. Every month i spend about an hour on the phone requesting receipts for charges and unfortunately i always to 3 diffierent people. They have billing me but they sending me details or receipts. I was going to try to add more stores on my account and they said they could not assist me on this. They only response was for me to send an email. Honestly if you can not provide me any better service then I will happily send my business elsewhere and suggest to all my customers to do the same. read more

I have been with Orkin for years and was especially happy with my Orkin Tech. But now that I am selling my house, they will not transfer my Termite bond as it was agreed upon at purchase. They say it can be transferred for 49.00, but they conveniently nullify the "repair" clause that we spend 1200.00 for on the front end. Repair and treat. That is a termite bond. Now my new buyers pay 49.00 to have a treatment only. In other words, the bond is no good, the new owners pay 49.00 and then realize it is worthless, then purchase a new bond. Hopefully with someone else. Orkin is one of the only companies in our area that nullify the repair aspect of a transferred termite bond. Buyer beware. My realtor took it up with them and they were happy to send our business elsewhere. And I am happy to advise others to do the same! read more

Atlanta, GA area: I have had Orkin for four years. The first three years were great - this last year, not so much. The technician services my home and I see MORE pests after the service. I call and request another treatment and they send someone very knowledge and capable. I start asking for this individual to service my home and while Orkin promises to send him, someone else shows up. Not to mention they increased their service amount by almost 20% without prior notification!! 20%!! I can understand a few dollars 'due to inflation' but 20% is just pure greed. I also just had my insulation in my attic replaced. Terrible - do not recommend. The technicians did not cleanup up after they left the first day and destroyed some of my landscaping. The second day when they were blowing the insulation in they somehow managed to blow insulation into my range vent hood. I emailed the supervisor to advise him on the issues and find out quite by accident that he is no longer with the company. A 'senior' technician came out to vacuum the insulation from the hood vent but no-one bothered to follow-up or to check on the project. Again, once they left they did not cleanup up after themselves - dirty handprints all over my hallway walls, insulation and dust material throughout my hallway, etc. Does Orkin even have a customer service department? Every time I have called, the representative seems complacent and just bothered. I'm being generous with 2 stars but I DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

The Orkin tech who came on Monday (1/5/18) poked around but did not clear out my closet, though I did get him to stay while I dumped all clothing that was in the floor-level shelves into a laundry basket, just to be sure no rodent was still lurking there. He seemed unconcerned about items on the second row of shelves or hanging, so I considered them free of contact. I was washing the clothes we'd pulled out load by load and trying to figure out how to wash out my shoes, so hadn't put anything back in the closet and had left the doors open since Monday. Last night I finally closed them when I went to bed. This morning when I opened the doors, I detected the odor of decomposition. When I set about removing everything else (things that were on the second row of shelving and in a small hanging shelf on the closet rod), I eventually encountered the dead rat in the very top cubby of the hanging shelf, behind/within a stack of clean underwear. I disposed of the rat, the hanging shelf (composed mostly of a thin synthetic fabric that wouldn't stand up to washing), and clothing that was in that cubby using rubber gloves and a trash bag. I'm not sure if I should also dispose of clothing that was in the cubby below or hanging but in contact with the decomposing rat cubby, as it also has an odor to it. It's currently in the wash. My concern, and what I would like a professional opinion on, is that I presume the rat came in contact with some kind of poison before entering my unit, and that's why it died in the closet. The Orkin tech seemed VERY certain that a rat would chew its way through drywall rather than remain trapped, and a mouse would squeeze out any crack, and was thus unconcerned that we found no animal in the closet on Monday. If the rat was carrying poison, what kind of cleaning is required (to floors as well as personal items it might have come in contact with) to make sure everything is free of traces of poison, or anything else a rat might carry? My space is small, but I go to great effort to make sure it is clean at all times, and also routinely run an air purifier. I hate the thought of any kind of toxin lingering in my living environment. Any answers or guidance you can provide in this regard would be much appreciated! I am leaving town tomorrow afternoon and will return late Monday night. Hopefully tomorrow's work on sealing up the closet/crawl space area will prevent any further entry into the unit, though I understand that in a series of row houses, some things are out of your control. I hired Orkin to deal with the cockroaches in my condo only to find the company is NASTIER THAN COCKROACHES! I had cockroach issue with my new condo a month ago and called Orkin. However, yesterday Orkin called me again and told me they would come the next day again as I signed a 1-year monthly service contract. I was totally confused. I know nothing about the contract. The Orkin service never told me anything about it. I called the customer service. The customer service insisted that I signed and their people would come the next day. How come that I have signed a contract without knowing it at all or obtaining a copy? The only document I received from the Orkin is the invoice for the service they did a month ago. I asked Orkin to send me a copy of the contract they have, but have not heard from them so far. Finally and reluctantly, I agreed to let Orkin do one last service. I told the Orkin the next day was not good for me. But they told me they will come the next day anyway and will charge me even if I am not at home. I asked how can they do their work without entering the home. They told me they will spray on the outside instead. How blatant is this? They don't care about doing the job right. All they care is to find excuses to collect your money. The customer service was extremely rude. The lady asked me to submit a written notice and gave me an email address. I asked if she can repeat the address. Silence. I asked again, still silence. She silently refused to repeat the email address for cancelling the service! This is by far the most absurd experience I had with any service in Atlanta. I am stilling waiting for the company to send me the contract they said that I have signed. It could only be that either I did not sign or they deceived me into signing one, making me think that I was signing something else. without discussing anything about the contract or giving me a copy. read more

I stayed home from work that day and didn't get a phone call. Then I called back two days later and the man said it would take 24-48 before someone would contact me to let me know when can they get to my house. Now its 6 days past the time I originally called and still I didn't get a phone call. This is so unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend this company to nobody. I would strongly recommend AGAINST hiring Orkin for residential pest control. We signed up with this particular branch/office in July, 2017. The first visit we had was by a gentleman named Jewel who was personable and seemed to be fairly thorough (I realize now after canceling our Orkin contract and signing up with Arrow that Jewel was thorough-ish). Regardless, we learned later when we called to request a second visit (roach problem was still an issue) that Jewel was not our regular technician... the technician (Myron) who was assigned to our home for regular maintenance was ridiculously difficult to get in touch with, and never resolved our roach problem after 2 additional visits. We have since hired Arrow exterminators and are beyond impressed. read more

I was about to renew my annual contract for my Termidor treatment when I reviewed last year's annual report. No termites were present on premises. However, the associate, Jewel Brown ID 1051627, checked off that I have conducive conditions. I had paid my annual renewal fee in order to maintain the warranty of the ten-year termidor treatment. An Orkin pest-control inspector came out and looked in my crawl space and attic. When it was complete he said I have fungus (the conducive condition) and immediately went into a sales pitch for a $1700 polyborate treatment followed by an additional cost of $3168 for Orkin Therm, a specialized moisture barrier. Finally, Orkin provides an in-house convenient payment plan allowing me to pay $460 for 12 months to cover all services mentioned. Being on a teacher salary, I declined the treatment. I did however pay a contractor to lay down a moisture barrier the following month at a fraction of the cost quoted. So in my annual report, the representative marks "No poly, fungus present in crawl" AFTER I declined treatment which essentially voids my Termidor Subterranean Termite Program Damage Repair Service Agreement under Continous Protection Plan 1.D. The Customer agrees to be solely responsible for maintianing the Treated Premises free from any condition conducive to termite infestation. The Pest Control inspector also failed to make mention of the squirrels that had made their way into the attic. I am very disappointed after paying $1000 for the Termidor treatment. Sad that every year it's a different sales pitch but this last one diminished my perception of Orkin's practices. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This was the worst service I ever had, and I worked there. Customer service was poor regardless if you worked there or not, everyone I spoke to had a bad experience, it was a coworker who told me to switch my service. So I switched to Terminix and received better treatment all around and the price was better! My "Orkin Man" never showed and then would show up whenever he wanted to. They are notorious for no call/no shows, everyone in the office knows this. I spoke with the branch manager (from my work phone in case it wasn't clear that I worked there) when I told him I was taking my business elsewhere all he was said if you decide to come back you will NOT be eligible for an employee discount again and he was very rude. First of all...the discount sucked second, my service is still less expensive with Terminix even with their weak little discount! Terminix doesn't hit you every month like this place, once a quarter. There was a big difference in my initial treatments, Terminix was way more thorough. I always had return pests with Orkin now I never see them. Don't be fooled by the name, Orkin is a horrible place to work with horrible customer service. read more

That is so incorrect and I called the # listed on the letter. I spoke to a lady who after placing me on hold for 12 minutes to review the account came back to ask me for my phone # and said she would need to continue reviewing and call me back. She did call me back after about 45 minutes to say we hadn't paid since April but she cannot see the pay history. Who does this??? I asked to speak with a manager, he came to the phone and asked me for my name and account #. I gave him this info and he said Ms. Powell yall always pay the account crazy so this is the last payment the system is reflecting. This really made me angry because we have been customers for a many years. His customer service was really poor and I did use a few choice words. The service at the Fayetteville location, at least, was definitely sub-par. Initially, I requested a quote online on a Thurs and was not contacted. I called on that following Sat a.m. and was given an appt. that no one ever showed up for. I called back an hour after the appt. time to be patient but was told they'd see what happened and call back...never received that return call. I called again, another hour later and was told they'd call the technician...no return call that time either. My urgency is quite evident and resources limited because this was for a bedbug service, which was already stressful enough, thanks to a visitor, because we've never had a pest/insect issue. Finally on my third call and fourth attempt at service, I spoke with Shalandra(dria) who was wonderful by the way, and she assisted me as best she could and I was instructed to call back on Monday to speak with someone and that the account had been notated of the many mishaps. Someone(Avery) came out and assessed the problem, suggested one service, we set up the first treatment and he "advised" us on necessary preparation. He was pleasant, however, misinformed or uneducated on the proper preparation for the follwing Tues...afterwhich caused my family of 6 to be unexpectedly displaced for 4 days. That's very difficult for a family that size and we didn't want to take our problem to anyone else's home like someone did us. We never received a contract, which is strange for a +$2000 service. We came home to "live activity" which we were told by Tiffany in the office, was normal unless we got the heat treatment, which was instantaneous AND never mentioned, suggested nor offered. That infuriated me that would've saved the displacement, some stress, possibly the $200 we spent washing AND drying all ALL fabrics in my home, WHICH ONLY NEEDED TO BE DRIED! Then, I was promised mattress encasements, that I had to go to Fayetteville to pick up myself because SHERMAN was suppose to drop them off and never showed up nor called and I was still being bitten 10 days after the initial treatment and 2/3days after the follow-up treatment! I also asked Tiffany for a printed and emailed copy of my contract upon arrival, she agreed over the phone but didn't give it to me once I arrived. I called again the following day and requested an emailed version from CHAD/CHASE. He agreed to also but never sent it. I don't have a contract to this day and don't have a clue what the terms of this non-effective service, if you can call this service, is nor what my rights are concerning this non-effective, still seeing freaking bedbugs in my home, terrible customer service rendering, sketchy and possibly fraudulent transaction. I am so upset and completely unsatisfied and unaccomodatedi this situation. read more
