I don't like leaving bad reviews but I am astounded by ORKIN PEST CONTROL. My client is selling her deceased husband's family home. I have records that they have been loyal customers of Orkin since 1972!! The service was only cancelled when the husband got sick and was passing away (1 month prior to death) which means the service ended in June of this year! When I called to ask for Orkin to inspect for a clearance letter, the response was that if he was not a current customer they could not even come out to the home at all. Please hear, the two customer service reps I spoke to had a heart and were very kind but the company was not budging. I guess they have all of the business they could want. I called back today to see if they would help continue the service or tell us how much the new buyer would need to prepare for continued service and they STILL would not talk with me or the customer about it. They said it was proprietary information and once the buyer owned the home, they could call and talk about becoming a customer. After 47 years of service to a customer and in a great time of need, this is how they treat a widow and potential customers. read more

I bought a 1 year package to treat ants around the parameters of my house and prevent from getting inside. After 11 months, there was no noticeable improvements to the situation, on the contrary the ants are inside my house now. Called the agent today, their response was that they do not guarantee their service if performed outside the premises contradicting what we have agreed initally.. What the ...? We just cancelled our Orkin service . Our service technician Christian was good but the scheduling service is unreliable. We have had several last minute reschedules. The ad says if there is a flare up they will be on your doorstep to help. I had to wait several weeks and now they wanted reschedule me again. The text even said he was on his way. I called Orkin to come and do a termite inspection on my house after my next-door neighbor used them for termite repair. The inspector who came, George, seemed nice and explained everything to me. He volunteered that he treats every home as if it's his own and told me he would come the day of the repairs to ensure everything was done correctly and follow up. I felt he was genuine and my neighbor had used them so I decided to go ahead and book it even thought it was very expensive. I was home all day during the repairs and even asked for a quote for attic insulation. Then I had to leave so I told the service men that I would be back in 2 hours. They said they would still be working because they had about 3 1/2 hours of work to go. I left and came back two hours later to find everybody had gone and they did not clean up after themselves. I called George the next day who nonchalantly said "oh yeah I know that they broke a couple things and they didn't clean up after themselves don't worry they'll come back later and fix it." I was shocked that he acted like it was no big deal. No one came to my house for two days but on the third day when I got home from work I saw people had come back and had been in my backyard doing repairs which really turned me off. I couldn't believe people came into my home, went into my backyard, and did the repairs without ever telling me about it. George never called me to follow up nor did he come and check to ensure the work had been done completely. It's upsetting because I do you need a pest control company and I still need to get my attic insulated and I was hoping to do it all with one company for the convenience but I definitely don't want to continue with Orkin after this experience! read more

It's the strangest thing...I've been trying to pay for Orkin termite services for six weeks now. How hard is it to take my credit card over the phone? I called the main office, and instead of taking my card, they said someone would call me back. Never did. I called and emailed George Barcenas, the local tech, twice. He apologized via email, said he would call me right away, and never did. I also left two messages on their website, begging them to take my money, and never heard from anyone there either. I had service on 9/11 for termite control (not cheap service) and Orkin contract was suppose to follow up 3 days later, They have ben a NO SHOW NO CALL 3 TIMES. I have to sit on a phone and report them, leave multiple messages. This is the worst customer service and by a company I have ever experienced, If you're thinking about this company for bug or termite control continue shopping. In addition; they sell the contract for billing to a third party and don't inform you. I am fed up with they're false advertisement and horrible treatment of customers. I am actually pretty disappointed. Salesman came out and everything seemed ok. Apt day came and no one showed up to treat the house. I reached out to the salesman and he was 'very concerned and apologetic'. Said he would make sure someone came out. Technician came out the next day and there was confusion as to what we were treating and what we had purchased. No big deal, miscommunications happen. But then, we found out that the salesman sold us a treatment AND a monthly contract even though he knew we were selling our house. I thought it was strange that he was offering us a monthly contract knowing we would be putting our house on the market in 3 weeks but he said we could cancel or transfer anytime and we didn't think there was another option. The technician that came out said they could do a one time treatment for us and he changed it. He came in, was here for maybe 20 minutes, drilled a few holes in the back, put some stuff in our outlet, and was gone. He took our email and phone number down and said someone would send me information and documentation and they would be out the following Tuesday for a follow up. Again, nothing. I texted the salesman and his concern was no longer there. Guess he sold us what he wanted to and no longer was concerned. He told me he didn't know and to contact the 800 number. Oh, and to "have a good day." I waited on hold for 20 minutes and 10 minutes later they finally figured out that they had no idea what had happened but someone would come out on Thursday. I asked if an apt had been scheduled because we had already had one no-show. She said she'd have to have the manager call me back. Nothing. I called back and she said she'd get it straightened out. (She was a very nice lady and did seem concerned.) Finally the technician calls back and says it was his fault. He forgot to submit the paperwork. Ok. I can handle that. Mistakes happen and it was nice of him to call and tell me. Second technician comes out for the follow up. Seems like a nice guy and seems to know what he's doing. Turns out that the first guy only treated the back of the house, not the front. He didn't do what he was supposed to do. This guy seemed to do the job right and everything seemed to be ok. He said I'd get an email and the documentation we'd want to sell our house. I got an email thanking me but no documentation other than what was done. I emailed back right away for clarification and still have not heard back. At this point I'm not sure if I wasted my money or not but I do know for sure I won't ever be using Orkin again. Do not trust the Atlanta Orkin branch to do what they promise and what the contract calls for. We had a moisture barrier contract with them for twenty-six years and they supposedly inspected our crawlspace every year, and gave us a written report saying the space was clean and dry. We discovered in January 2020 that the space contained toxic category 3 water that had accumulated and that Orkin did not inform us of.. The assistant manager told me directly that he knew the last technician had NOT gone into the crawlspace and had NOT inspected it, although he gave us a written report saying he had. They have been very difficult to deal with and will not accept responsibility for their technician. Our neighbor has also had trouble of a different sort with them. DO NOT TRUST ORKIN to work with you or be honest. read more

SHADY SHADY BUSINESS. I don't ever write reviews and don't know how they paid for a 4.7 when their Yelp has 2 stars but BEWARE. Their inspector and customer agents charge $150 solely for an inspection and upon giving us a signed quote/contract for $150 the first month, $84.99 the following, they backed out and said they couldn't do it for the price and that we need to pay an extra $100 for the initial session and $100 per following month. The branch manager Jamal is NO help whatsoever and says he won't do the job for the contracted price and had his technician just drive away after we cleared the house. He also said he knew nothing about the $150 inspection fee. No one knows what they're doing and in the end it's just the customer's wasted time and money. Orkin was by far the most professional, knowledgeable and efficient! I am sorry I don't remember the name of the woman who took my initial call! I thought the service from the boots on the ground was excellent. Just didn't appreciate the fact I had already paid my bill for the month of May. I was having gopher issues and upgraded my account. I was informed my bill would change starting the month of June. However, they called me today stating I had an unpaid balance. Turns out they charged me for the month of May for the gophers which was not agreed upon. I booked to have Orkin come out quarterly to do some preventive bug maintenance. 3 weeks in a row they cancelled my appointment due to internal issues. so I cancelled my contract and went with a more reliable company. the 2nd time that they cancelled my appointment, i asked them to keep my appointment and short someone else, they refused.so if you are home all day and can meet any appointment, maybe they will work with you, but if you don't have unlimited time and taking time off work for their schedule, not them meeting your schedule then use Orkin. if not go with someone else. read more

After Orkin left my home we noticed the application was different and the technician told us not to mops floors around cabinets and appliances (they've never told us this before). The next day our pets started getting sick. At first we thought it was just due to some storms that came through that day. The next day it got worse and the smallest cat looked completely emanicipated and was not doing well. We reached out to Orkin that night. The next day after several attempts to verify the product used was pet safe we found out the home was not treated properly. Instead of treating crack and crevices they used a wide sprayer putting down much more product than was supposed to be used. We took the cat to the emergency vet where she had to be eithanized. The day after we lost our second cat in the exact same way only he died in our arms not at the vet. We couldn't get him there in time. 4 dogs are still sick but thankfully not to the extent of the cats. We reached out to Orkin again after the deaths and have since been completely ignored. After I canceled services they still send me bills for services not received after I paid all prior to cancellation . Do not use them

If you own rental properties, do not use them. I used them a couple times and ended up set a schedule for once a month. When the tenants didn't see any more bugs I call and rescheduled for the following month 10/27. I was going to call them a week before and let them know I would like to cancel that appointment and reschedule for Nov but I received a bill in the mail. I called and they said they were there on 10/5. This is how they are making their money. They want to do service before you call and them to reschedule and you still have to pay or they will take you to collections. They didn't even call or notify me of a schedule change. NEVER use Orkin, there are many other companies to use locally. read more

We called for a flea problem we were unable to fix ourselves. They came last week. We were given a 10 to 12 window for them to show up. We didn't hear from them until 1. Noticed a several days later, we still have fleas so we called again so they could come out and try again. We were once again given a 10 to 12 window. I called at 12:30 to check on it, they couldn't get ahold of the technician. Took my number, said he would call. An hour later, still no call. I rearranged my entire day for this. I had to cancel so I could take my 3 children back home. We didn't get so much as an apology and the customer service was very apathetic and didn't seem to care at all. Canceled our service 5 weeks ago then today a tech shows up and an employee goes outside to inform him that we canceled our service the tech proceeds to tell the employee that he is still going to spray because we must give 30 days notice( again 5 weeks ago) seriously? You now own the property and dictate what you can do? The tech then comes inside the building( not with a sprayer ) talking on his cell phone to whom I assume is someone at his branch office ,walking all around the inside of our building and in our employee break room which clearly says EMPLOYEES ONLY!! Now for whatever reason he decides to come stand in front of my office and put the woman he was talking to on speaker phone and all I hear is her yelling even cussing saying that if we wanna play this game then she will get us for " breach of Contract"! the only game I witnessed being played was the tech putting her on speaker so i could hear her. and just so we are clear, our company has no contract we actually are prohibited from entering into a contract beyond our fiscal year which ended June 30th 2021! They sent me what looks like an invoice 1 year after they tented my house. Never requested any further service but they tried to bill me what looks like an invoice for $250 for renewal. Nowhere on the bill does it say this is for services agreed to or rendered. Total scam. Hopefully the elderly folks don't get scammed and end up paying this fake bill. Totally unethical and shameful way of trying to extract more money from their customers. read more

ZERO STARS. Yelp doesn't have zero star option had to click one star. Do not agree to mosquito plan. They came out and sprayed. Two weeks later I called and complained that it didnt work and they said they will come out and take care of. They came out next day but charged me for service. Bullshit. I was charged $140 total in 16 days.. my plan was $70 bucks every 30 days. When I just noticed they charged me for that service which should of been free. They said they upped my service date to benefit me. Never told me this and never told me they were gonna charge me I would never of fucking agreed to terms of I knew this.. This is how they scam you. Call orkin office, got quoted, they didn't show up on first scheduled visit, call them back, came again, told me my price can't be accepted, that this is too little ( cheap). Managers name is Paul Abragano and he was very rude and unprofessional. Wow, what TERRIBLE customer service from the office. The FIELD SERVICE was wonderful. But once I cancelled my monthly service, I continued to get billed. By the way, they offered to reduce my rate once I wanted to cancel. I should have received the lowest rate before I wanted to leave. After repeated requests for explaination; I finally received my reply; pay up, or you go to collections, but no response. I will never use or recommend Orkin. So in November when we began an ant battle in the house, we thought you get what you pay for. We decided to call a well known company, so Orkin it was. We needed to call them again in December,April and May. It was explained in May, for a regular visits and payments they could better control the issue. They said they were kind enough to come back in April but would charge to come again. There was never a guarantee to solve the issue. Wish they told me up front before the 200 dollar fee for an issue that keeps on reoccurring. The Rock Hill office needs a lesson in customer service. They also told us the first time after the 200 dollar payment that we had a balance of 60.00. We paid the tech the amount he said we owed. They finally waived that fee. I will never use this company again. The first visit was fine and the extermination of ants worked. However two additional visits were required by their contract. They were supposed to arrive between 10-noon but at 1:00 I was still waiting and when I called they asked if 3-4 would be OK. I had another appointment so rescheduled. For the 3rd visit, they came without even notifying me. I wasn't home and Orkin claimed someone sprayed outside. My house was surrounded by snow and the footprints did not indicate anyone came close to the house. Orkin charged $100 for this visit! read more

I would give them a minus 5 stars. The company is terrible. They do not provide what their adds or salesmen promise. I spent $950 to control mosquitos and bees and got nothing but bites and stings for it. When I asked for the promised refund all I heard was...."crickets". Orkin is a horrible company. Take your business to a local contractor who depends on his reputation for continued business. Tried to contact the local office numerous times but no-one ever answered or returned calls. Always got redirected to customer service rep in Atlanta who just read off a script in response to my issues. And the service tech was not much help either. They don't even carry a ladder on their trucks. My guy spent more time updating his I phone than spraying. I timed him once. Eleven minutes spraying, 20 minutes sitting in his truck playing with his phone. It is like having "Blippy" spraying for bugs. Scratch Orkin off your list of reputable vendors. read more

I have never written a review but I am so disappointed and frustrated with Orkin Colorado. I cancelled a year-contract exactly one month ago after several months of not being able to identify the bug infestation in the house. Despite 4 phone calls trying to get my refund, I am still waiting for it. I have gotten the run around by 3 different people. One nightmare after another. Apparently there are no managers or competent personnel to solve this issue. The company's tag line is : We are not satisfied unless our customers are happy." Well, I am NOT HAPPY. I had some ants outside my house for a couple of months. They didn't bother me until they came inside because of the heat. I called Orkin around 11:30 am and Albert arrived at 4:00 that afternoon. I did not want to spend a fortune taking care of the ants. I could buy ant traps and do it myself if the price was too much from Orkin. when I called Orkin they told me all of the different plans they had. I could have called another company but I wanted the big name of Orkin because they have so many guarantees on their product. Albert was very nice and well informed. He explained the process and made sure I understood the 30 day warranty. If I saw any ants after 5 days call him back and he would be there that day to take care of them. Orkin takes their training very seriously and their staff have all the licenses imagined. I can cancel anytime and even get my money back if I am not happy with the service. So far I am happy. It has been 2 days and I haven't seen an ant anywhere, inside or out. I could have paid less with a smaller company but if the ants came back I would have no guarentees that company would take care of them. We have used Orkin for years, but I'm pretty tired of the poor service from the Orkin Vista California location. When they show up, they generally do a good job, but you have to be there to make sure they actually do the job. I'm tired of the techs coming out, and not actually doing anything. I literally watched them from my window, show up and leave without doing the service. Then see the tech chg shirts at his truck and leave...as if it was a hard day at the office. Additionally, don't have a issue that makes you call them. I have left numerous msgs about wanting them to call me back about my upcoming service..only to have the calls go unanswered and have there service techs come out on a rainy day. When you call there 24hr customer service, all the customer service can do is accept payment. When you try to reschedule, they say you have to call the branch office. Listen folks, we are in the 21st century....everyone has an app or customer service team that can do what you need down. Just very tired and frustrated with Orkin. OMG I just read the reviews and I swear I am having the same exact problems. I have been a customer for over 10 years and currently I can't get a job finished, I had the same no show for the rework, no one will return a call or email, I keep getting a promise to refer me to someone higher to resolve my issues but I am still waiting. My financing as well has been a nightmare. I have already received a payment due date for work that has not been completed. I can only assume that I will, like so many of these reviewers, be screwed.
