This moving company has set a really high bar as far as other companies are concerned. I've had good movers, but Ortiz Brothers came through with flying colors. The initial coordination was terrific with Alyssa making sure that we were fully informed. The guys on the truck were nice, but the woman in the office (I don't recall her name) has major interpersonal issues. Let me explain. Around the end of March 2024, I needed to empty my Assisted Living quarters and store my belongings because I was no longer living there. While we packed everything up, I created two "piles" - one for storage and one for me. As we were getting ready to leave, I realized that something was missing from my stack. One of the crew freely admitted to accidentally packing it in one of the boxes. They said that I should call the office in the morning to make arrangements to pick it up, and they'd have it ready for me. So, a couple of days later, I called to make an appointment to pick up my thing. Well, that wicked woman said that I needed to pay the fee! When I expressed to her that I felt it was unfair that I should have to pay the fee for their mistake - that evil embodiment of a woman invited me to take my business elsewhere! All of that over the love of thirty-five dollars! Can you believe it? Anyway, I'm now with Rigos Moving & Storage. The monthly rate is a bit higher--$150 vs. $90 before. I've utilized their services twice in the past and both times the wine or spirts have not made it to the final location. My review is based around the very pleasant experience working with Alison and Isaac - Alison was quick to get in touch after our referral, and Isaac was incredibly professional during his in-person estimate. Unfortunately, the estimate was incredibly and prohibitively expensive. Context: I requested an estimate to pack and move a 2bd apartment less than 15mi (local move) to a single family home. The estimate was for MORE THAN DOUBLE the cost of our pack and move of over 400mi. While I expect we would have been very pleased with their service based on their professionalism, this cost is not competitive. We'll be choosing a different moving company. read more

Not a great impression at all. Had an 11:30 scheduled walk-thru scheduled. My days are completely stacked as I'm coordinating an out of state move -STRESSFUL. At 11:15 he canceled. Says his schedule changed and he couldn't wait around, had to get back to his office. Wow. So your schedule matters over mine, the customer who you scheduled at this time. Large Dudes Moving Quickly and Efficiently! You will not find a better mover. Two of my friends have also used these guys and have had equally amazing results. They move fast and don't mess around. My move came in under the time estimate and they refunded me money. I then tipped them appropriately. I recently made another move, this time to a different state, which would have been too pricey to hire a moving company. Stay away! The cost came in at twice what I was quoted. Every time I walked downstairs to the truck I would see 3 guys standing around doing nothing while the supervisor took personal calls during the move and didn't pay attention. I kept telling them to use the large rolling cart that my building had and they insisted on carrying items one or two at a time so it would take longer. When I arrived at my new location all the movers were just sitting in the truck waiting for me when they could have started off-loading the truck. Then they packed my stuff loosely into storage containers so they could double the monthly storage cost. I had to take a day and repack them to reduce the number of containers even though I was charged to pack them in the first place. David Ortiz, one of the owners who did the original quote, neglected to tell me that there was a $35 charge for each $55/mo. container if I needed access to my stuff because they bring them around to the loading dock. When they pack the containers they don't give you an itemized list of what they put where, so to get stuff out of the right container you might end up needing to ask for 3 containers resulting in a $105 charge to go pick up one of your items. They also tried to charge me hundreds of dollars in gas fees to my location when I was about 5 minutes away. He did reduce the monthly storage fees but only after I insisted we look at the units together and he saw how empty most of them were. So the monthly cost was only reduced to what I should have been charged in the first place. And he reduced the false gas charge when I pointed it out. So they try to slip a lot of extra costs by you. I tried to discuss his doubling of the original quote with him several times and he would tell me he wasn't at his desk, or he was on the other line and that he would call me back. He never did. He seems like such a nice guy - but very shady business practices. He kept sloughing me off to the person who does the billing, but she had nothing to do with the original quote so couldn't adjust the costs. Stay away!!! read more

Be careful when you book moving service. I had a moving appointment three weeks advance. I made sure to check in with them once a week before the move. Everything was great according to them. Two days before the move they canceled on me. They told me they over booked! How do you over book when you make and schedule an appointment three weeks in advance??!? To make it worse, they didn't have the courtesy to call me (I found out by calling them 2days before the move). It turned out for the better. I called Mayflower and they had an opening. It was cheaper by $14/hour. read more

Ortiz Bros was highly recommended to me by a trusted friend. So we called Ortiz Brothers and David Ortiz personally came to our apartment so he could give us an estimate. After a week with no feedback, I called Ortiz Brothers and was told to 'send David an email, he will see it on his phone.' Still never heard from him! Imagine one of the owners not following back up with an estimate and then not even having the courtesy to reply to my follow-up email. Very pleased with the services! We used Ortiz Brothers for our move from Burbank to Palmdale. They came out and did a quote to pack & move our items. We had gotten several quotes and Ortiz Brothers was not the cheapest, but it was the most clear cut and direct of the quotes we received. They were great with communication- concise and timely emails. They answered any questions we had and verified that they would be on time which was very important for us. They arrived on time to pack our items. It was 2 males and they were fast and efficient. They also arrived on time the next day to move everything. There were 5 males to move the items out of our old place and 3 males to move it into our new place. Friendly, fast, efficient, professional. None of our items had broken during the move, which is always a plus. I highly recommend Ortiz Brothers if you have packers and movers in your budget for your move. These guys are great! I've used them for 2 separate moves. Both times we had to store everything with them while we waited for our new place to be ready. 3 guys show up (2 move and 1 takes apart beds, TVs, Etc) pack the truck and took everything to their storage facility. When our new place was ready I just emailed them a Move in date and all of our stuff showed up. In the last move, I packed all of the small stuff and had them pack the large pieces. Took them about 4 hrs to pack up a 3bed - 2 story House One note...They do add drive time to the total and they come from Downtown LA. read more

Everything about my recent Moving day was incredibly easy and smooth thanks to Ortiz Bros moving company. They showed up On time, were courteous, intelligent, alert, and energetic...... Had great equipment. They were also careful and respectful of both the buildings not to damage steps or walls with their equipment and dolly's as well as my furniture. David Ortiz even came out days before to evaluate the job thoroughly and to suggest ways to make sure everything would be well protected during the move. I would not use Ortiz again. We moved from LA to NY. I would say that on the LA end, Ortiz did a good job packing our house- and would consider them for a local move. BUT, they are part of Atlas and the rest of our move sucked. The stuff got loaded onto a long-shippers truck, and then passed to a local delivery agent of Atlas in the NY area. The long shipper arrived a week late and several items were lost or mishandled. The local delivery guys were lazy and cut corners. After the fact dealing with Atlas was also slow and a poor experience. All this is a reflection of Atlas, whom I would never work with again. Ortiz seemed like good people and I hope they can break ties with Altas and affiliate with a better national provider. read more

Ortiz is a great, high end moving company that doesn't scrimp on packing and boxing. We had many valuable antiques, all were boxed individually and not one thing was damaged. They used small boxes most of the time that were easy to move store and carry, making their job faster and our organization afterwards, much easier. They moved a 35 room house and were super cool. So I found out from Atlas Van Lines that this agent was supposed to contact me concerning the quote I submitted online. After trying repeatedly to contact Atlas to no avail because their phone system hangs up on you and says they are busy, I turn to google and find other contact numbers. After being transferred a few times I get a live person who begins to explain their process. Basically he says as soon as you submit the quote online it goes directly to their nearest agent to your zip. Unfortunately for me that was Ortiz Bros. I did some research and wasn't pleased with what I found so I called my next closest agent and explain the situation. By this time 8 days have passed with no contact. Apparently Ortiz Bros. are known in the industry for not wanting to handle "small" moves that are not local. They're approach of say nothing and the customer might get the picture doesn't really work & it's obvious that they may not be staffed well enough to handle the business they are getting. Everything I've experienced with them leads me to believe that what I've read and heard is true. They don't put customers first and they don't care enough or have the decency to even contact customers to let them know they are too busy to handle their needs and they should keep searching. It's just a poor way of doing business. read more

They just moved me and did a GREAT job. They did an amazing job packing up our things - not one thing broke, and they were extremely efficient in packing our things up and loading out our boxes . We came in a few hundred dollars under budget (although I personally moved my clothes beforehand that were part of the extimate). They had a great system of getting our stuff downstairs from our 4th frloor condo (2 guys upstairs and 2 guys downstairs, one guy at the moving van) and had our entire 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo loaded out in about 4 hours. read more

I can't relate whatsoever to the negative reviews about this company. They were great! David worked with us going back and forth and changing dates in the moving schedule. He was very accommodating. The actual moving day was flawless. The workers were professional, polite, respectful and were pleasant to be around. The most impressive part of the day was how hard they worked! They were like this nonstop the whole day. They were efficient and organized. They had it down to a science, which made for a very smooth moving process.
