At my previous apartment, we stayed for a while to make sure everything was going smoothly before driving to our new place. When we left, the crew appeared to have already moved the majority of our belongings out. It took us about 40 minutes to drive to the new apartment, plus another 20 minutes to get settled and make sure our cat was safe. An hour after we had left, I received a call saying they had just finished loading the truck and were only then heading to our new apartment. Given how much had already been completed before we left, that timeline didn't make sense to me and left me questioning how efficiently the remaining work was being done. Another frustrating part of the experience was that, at both the pickup and delivery locations, the movers repeatedly asked me where they should park the moving truck. I don't drive commercial moving trucks, and I hired professionals because I expected them to know how to handle those logistics. I was also told that if they received a parking ticket, I would be responsible for paying it, which I found unreasonable. Once they arrived at the new apartment, the pace continued to feel unnecessarily slow. There were multiple trips carrying only one or two small items at a time. Eventually, my partner and I started helping unload our own belongings because we wanted to get the move finished. We also noticed several bathroom breaks throughout the job, which only added to the feeling that the process was taking much longer than necessary. The final interaction left a bad impression as well. I fully intended to leave a tip for good service, but before I even had the chance, one of the movers repeatedly asked for cash after I had already explained that I didn't have any. Being pressured for a tip at the end of an already disappointing experience felt unprofessional. Moving is already stressful, and I hired professionals hoping to make the day easier. Instead, I left feeling that the job took much longer than it should have, communication was poor, and the overall experience did not justify the cost. I can't recommend this company based on my experience.

We weren't to hard on our movers and get them our in 2:15 total. The issue, upon payment it was brought up we needed to pay them for "double drive time". The person even brought up a California Labor Law website. The additional fee was $175, in cash which was shocking. It felt slimy in the moment and we were expected to just ante up $675 for 2:15. Double drive time implying they went from our old house to the new house. My question is, is that not the standard of moving (2 locations)? And why was this fee not brought to our attention during the initial conversations. I'm sure there is a email they send. But when you advertise $169 per hour with a 3 hour minimum, that was certainly the price we expected.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our move out date and packing dates had to be changed multiple times, but Iliya worked with us patiently to help find us a crew within just a few days that was able to move us out efficiently and conveniently. Carlos and his moving crew were superb and worked quickly, with a positive attitude, and were willing to accommodate a lot of our requests. Iliya, the operations manager, was very knowledgeable and communicative throughout the entire moving process. Carlos was the foreman on moving day and ran a tight ship with his team. Everyone knew their roles and worked hard throughout the day to make it a pleasant moving experience. My furniture was delivered the following morning, and the team lead that day was Leo. His team did a fantastic job as well. I have a special shout-out for Lalo. This guy was amazing and made my overall moving experience over the top. He made sure my wife and I were 150% satisfied. Our furniture was placed exactly where we wanted it, and he maintained a positive and professional demeanor throughout the entire day. Everyone I encountered from Prodigy was exceptional. In the contract there is no mention of stair surcharges either, so it feels like the individual movers that performed the work added this on top of the contracted fee. The movers did not speak English fluently which added to the confusion over payment and breakdown of costs. Overall the job was performed as expected but the final costs were way more than expected.

Gregory, our onsite lead, was responsive, well organized, and his four-person crew worked very hard. My advice to anyone moving is to be realistic about how much stuff you have. I got three quotes. One company estimated one-and-a-half 27-foot trucks, while Royal and another company estimated one 27-foot truck. My move-out apartment was 895 sq ft with a large patio. Before moving day, I made two 10-foot Home Depot truck trips myself with the delicate and bulky items: my electric bike, Peloton, and other things that don't stack well. Royal filled a 27-foot truck with everything else, efficiently using all the available space. We did go a little over the estimate because of rush-hour traffic. The only part I didn't enjoy was the payment app prompting for a tip at checkout. After a long moving day, that was one unnecessary stress point because I never know what's considered an appropriate tip for professional movers. Fortunately, I had already planned ahead with cash tips and cold Gatorades for the crew throughout the day. I highly recommend Royal Movers. They made a difficult move much easier. I also gained a whole new respect for my son, his friend, and my old girlfriend, who helped me move the last time. I originally called them last minute as the other movers I had scheduled no-showed. They were able to accommodate which was awesome and although they broke a small bowl, I thought they were great so I decided to call them back for the 2nd time even though they didn't offer any sort of reduction for the bowl, it wasn't that great of a piece so I didn't let it bug me. I called them again to move me back into my new place and they were able to squeeze me into their schedule which again I thought was awesome-I even gave them an extra $20 as Steve and Billy put 3 handles onto a dresser for me as well during that time. Shortly after they left I noticed a chip in a mirror that I have but again was like a $10 wall mirror so didn't really care... however after finally having the time to organize and go through everything I pulled out one of my drawers only to find that the back bar of the base had been broked and they had just tucked it into the back of the drawer and never told me. I was shocked! They seemed honest and friendly and I couldn't believe it! Even after I paid them extra and had no complaints about paying their 3 hour minimums either as it only took about 1 hour each time. Says a lot about a companies and individuals character to be sneaky like that, if they would've just apologized and offered to repair it or maybe not accept the extra I paid for the handles-I probably would've still recommended them. But I have no respect for a company that is dishonest and so careless. Very disappointed and will definitely not be using them for a 3rd time. read more

I trusted Steve with my life. No exaggeration. Forty years worth of original manuscripts, an entire photo archive, antiques, even a Steinway grand piano. Everything had to go from Santa Monica across the country to North Carolina. Steve arranged everything and did a smooth and well-planned move, drove the load cross country himself, and the supervised movers who he arranged at the other end. Not a scratch on anything. One of the best things about working with Steve is that he is a gentleman of integrity, honesty and hard work. If he tells you a job will get done, it will get done. On the moving day we were beyond impressed. We don't leave reviews often but made a special effort to leave our glowing recommendation. Steve and his team were extremely efficient and professional. You could tell this team knew exactly what they were doing. They were so fast and efficient, and had a clear well thought out system. And most importantly they packed our furniture and delicate glass items with care. The last moving company I used, we gave them $200 each. They earned it -- we didn't have to help at all. They were constantly going up and down the stairs and never disappeared for an extended amount of time. These movers would've received a similar tip if they didn't keep disappearing, causing us to help. To add, I never found that "missing" box of movies.

My move was booked one month in advance so it makes no sense how they claim they don't have a truck for my cross country move which they supposedly specialize in. And beware they charge additional for "long walks" in apartment complexes... this is ridiculous. I don't think I'll ever get my things at this point....

The reason I am giving them five now is because I just used a different local moving company to pack my apartment and load a truck I rented, and I was highly dissatisfied with the service. I won't name this business, but the work did not reflect the cost and I wouldn't recommend that business to anyone. Comparing it to my experience with Stear, I knew I had to sit down and write the review. In July of 2021 I hired two workers to pack my 1 bedroom apartment, load their own truck, unload the truck at my new apartment, AND they drove the truck over to the nearby Goodwill so I could drop off four pieces of large furniture that I was donating for no extra charge. It took a total of 6 hours (my new apartment was only a few streets from my old one), and cost $800 pre-tip. One of the guys definitely worked his ass off the entire time, but I saw the other guy on his phone many times and slowly packing items. My roommate said she saw him chilling downstairs over to the side, and when he saw her he pretended to be working. That was the reason I was going to knock them down a star. But again, comparing the amount of work they got done in the time they did, and at the price they did it, to that of the company I just used, I am locking in at five stars. On top of that, all items were wrapped well enough that nothing was broken in the move, nor was I worried about it. They also knew obvious things like "wrap glass in wrapping paper before packing" and "don't pack living plants in boxes". That is in stark contrast to my recent experience. Here's a breakdown so you can get an idea of the competition: Stear (2021): -hired to pack 1 bedroom apartment and move items to new apartment (0.3 miles away) -I had more items in this move -they drove to a second location so I could drop off some furniture to be donated -all boxes and wrapping materials included in rate -2 men -I hardly did any work -$800 total -6 hours total Company #2 (2022): -hired to pack 1 bedroom apartment and load truck I rented -I didn't have items to donate and I had less items in this move -my dad and I were helping by packing and organizing the entire time -charged per box, wrapping materials "included" but they didn't have wrapping paper for fragile items (they used mine from my last move) -3 men (plus my dad and me) -they only had to pack and load a truck, didn't have to drive it anywhere -$700 total (was going to give me a "discount" at $760, I was like no) -4 hours 50 minutes total

They broke my $2,000 table in half. They attempted to repair it, but the repair was done poorly, and they even used black marker on top of the granite to try to hide the damage. My $1,500, 10-year-old Dracaena tree was also damaged, with three of the heads knocked off. A few other items were damaged as well. Overall, the movers did not handle my belongings with care, and the way the damage was addressed was completely unacceptable. Moving is already stressful enough, and dealing with broken furniture, damaged plants, and poor repairs made the experience even worse. I would not use this company again and would not recommend them to anyone.

That is exactly what Mansakh is. They were efficient, and made sure to shrink wrap items that tend to break. I had to reduce the number of movers since we had moved most of our stuff ourselves, and they seemed to be offended by it. Considering I was charged hourly, I would've really appreciated if they would have done the job quicker. They didn't damage my items, which was good

They quoted me a great price to help me unload a storage unit and then move my 1 bedroom out and into a shipping pod. On the day of the move, Andrew and Max arrived exactly on time and were quick and efficient with moving and were careful and thoughtful with my furniture and helped ensure that my items were wrapped and protected and loaded into the pod in the most efficient manner so that i could get everything to fit. During the move they were quick, efficient, and careful at all times. The loading took roughly 2 hours, and during the drive we got updates on their whereabouts.
