We should have walked out when the waitress spilled an entire glass of water into my purse. We decided to stay and give it a chance but we're disappointed in the entire meal. While the food had good flavor- the service, experience and quality was disappointing. So when we arrived we waited for a few minutes before a hostess even appeared at the front to greet us. We were seated at a hibachi table in the back room. The ambience was good and we were excited to try it! The waitress took our drink orders and when she came back dropped a glass on the floor and into my purse. The glass shattered everywhere and the staff kept saying to us "it's ok, it's ok, don't worry." But that was the problem- it wasn't ok, my bag was dripping water, everything inside was wet and no one seemed to care. My leggings and shoes were all wet. The brought me a plastic bag to put my stuff in after we asked twice and eventually brought me paper towels. The waitress apologized but no one seemed to care. We ordered hibachi and sushi. The prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for. My salad didn't have a tomato while my brother and mom did. The soup had no flavor and tasted like dishwater. I had the O-Boy roll which was good but the salmon was so over cooked it was crunchy. The hibachi chef was lackluster and had no personality. You get a big portion of fried rice but there are lots of purple onions which I'm not a huge fan of. The chicken was disgusting no one could eat it. It was overlooked and bad quality. The filet was good but I had to have him recook mine because it was not the right temperature. The steak was not good quality either. My brother had sushi and the portion was really small. He said the yellowtail tasted like dish soap. We won't be back to Osaka. We were hoping to find a good hibachi option in the area but were very disappointed. read more

One of the best sushi restaurants in the area and it has a great location on haddon Ave. We've eaten here many times, dined in and taken out and never had anything we didn't like. Some of my favorites: striped bass sashimi, salmon roll, rock shrimp, age tofu, kani salad. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. We've never had the hibachi, so I can't speak directly on that, although it seems to always have a great crowd. Prices are fair for what you're getting! Service is friendly, but can be slow at times. Nothing wrong with food, service, or prices, just not good. Miso soup was flavorless. Tempura was greasy. Chirashi cuts were small and unlike how chirashi should be served over rice, the rice was served on the side. The cuts of fish in the rolls were thin and thus overshadowed by the past ripe avocado. Tamago was again not bad just not good. Reminded me of mall sushi with a slightly better ambiance. Plenty of other places to go for better sushi. If you want excellent sushi go to Sagami. The restaurant is huge, there is a regular "sushi" section in the front and towards the back is hibachi tables. Tonight we choose only sushi so we stayed in the front part of restaurant. As the appetizer my friend and I shared the fried calamari. It was very fresh and crispy.. So good!! For my entrée I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the lobster roll... Both delicious!!! My friend had the crazy dragon roll... And OMG that was to die for!! For dessert we had the exotic bomb, which was 3 different sorbets in one covered in a coating of white chocolate.. So delicious!! I was thoroughly impressed with Osaka when we ordered for our Valentine's Dinner. We scheduled earlier in the day and the order came within 5 minutes of our estimated time. We definitely ordered too much (as we always do) but everything was delicious. We ordered 2 appetizers - the crab Rangoon and the duck roll. The crab Rangoon was probably one of the best we've had in a while. The outside was crisp and the inside was stuffed with a delicious crab cream cheese mixture that had just the right amount of sweetness. The duck rolls were also really good. We've never had a duck roll and knew we needed to try it. I personally liked it better the next day (yes, we ordered so much we had leftovers for the next day). We felt like these would probably be better fresh (not having to travel), but tasty nonetheless. The rolls were full of fillings and they used very fresh ingredients. We ordered the yellowtail jalapeño roll which had just the right amount of heat and a few pieces of sashimi (mackerel, yellowtail, scallop, and eel. We also got the UFO roll, Collingswood roll, and Scorpion roll. My personal favorite was the Collingswood - I loved the salmon with mango inside. Because we didn't get enough food, we also ordered the shrimp hibachi - which was HUGE. The hibachi dinner came with miso soup and a ginger salad, along with giant portions of fried rice, flavorful shrimp, and a side of hibachi veggies. Everything was delicious. I didn't think the prices were unreasonable. Not including the delivery tip, it was about $100 for all of it. I would highly recommend Osaka if you live in the South Jersey/Camden County area. We went on a Saturday night to celebrate a big step in my boyfriend's career with his family. We asked to sit in a booth and we're seated near the door which brought in freezing air each time the door was opened which really created an unhappy atmosphere. I understand there is not much you can do about the weather, but the set up was far from ideal. Dinner was delicious and the food was a 10, but the service was not great. We felt rushed, she tried to take plates away from the table while we were still eating from them. She forgot one of our appetizers and when we mentioned it she said sorry but still never brought it. Dessert was highly disappointing and it seemed that the creme brulee was made and tourched in the morning and put in the refrigerator to sell. Service was attentive and prices reasonable. Parking in Collingswood can be tricky, so be sure to park out back of the restaurant in the big municipal lot. But what really made the evening was the special birthday light show they put on. Suddenly, the lights dim to black in the restaurant, and multicolored strobes and dance balls flash throughout. For one brief, terrifying moment I thought the alien mothership from "Close Encounteres" had touched down and I was soon to be spirited away to the sound of off-key asian karaoke. Soon the lights came back on and out came an enormous sushi boat filled with fresh cut fruit for the table. They have gluten free soy sauce people!!!! I love when I can find a Japanese restaurant that can accommodate me- being both vegetarian and gluten free. I've gotten both sushi and vegetable hibachi here and neither disappointed. Just know that gluten free soy sauce is way saltier than regular soy sauce so be prepared for that. Doing hibachi as a group here is also SO much fun. The hibachi chef we had was absolutely hilarious and made for a great meal with some friends. For sushi, I can't comment on the quality of the fish- considering I'm vegetarian. But as far as veggie sushi goes (cucumber avocado rolls all the way!) it was really good. We got a 9 pieces of assorted sushi, spicy tuna roll, salad and soup for $19. We also got shrimp and vegetable tempura $7.50 worth it. We ordered our food, and she basically told me I wasn't ordering it correct, and was just very rude. I live in Collingswood, so I'm no stranger to the sushi hype in this area. Why Sagami continues to get higher reviews is beyond me. Perhaps because it's more "traditional" and the menu is bigger? It is also the best tempura I have ever had...I'd go as far as to say it's the best fried food I've eaten in my life, and I used to be a fatty, so if nothing else, you want to order that. I have had better hibatchi, I am sorry to say, but hey, you can't be great at everything. Not that it's lousy, but it's not earning them this rating. The other part of the restaurant does. I'm putting this on a separate line because I think it's worth mentioning. The service is consistently a 10. It is clear they not only realize you butter their bread, but they don't make you feel like an intrusive foreigner. On top of that, they are at the top of their game, constantly. The decor is nicer than most restaurants. Great ambiance. Perfect for date night. Cons? Pricey without a groupon/coupon. Limited menu..but that's why I think it excels. But most upscale restaurants aren't aiming for the all-encompassing Cheesecake Factory style menu, anyway. read more

I've eaten in the front room with my wife and enjoyed the fresh sushi, friendly service and byob. Tonight we took our 5 boys to the hibachi and had a blast! The service was prompt and attentive and the hibachi chef was awesome! He was great with the kids (ranging from 4 to 13) and the food was amazing. Beautiful restaurant. Sushi and entrees in the front, hibachi grills in the back of house. So fresh, so amazing. Started with edamame, and 20 pieces of sashimi (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, white tuna, mackerel and Uni). In my eyes the mackerel was the best, but the Uni was the show stopper. The Uni was like mousse/custard in your mouth. Now I know why Bourdain and Zimmerman call this their favorite. We also had two handmade rolls, Haddon roll and the Collingswood roll. Words can't explain how happy we and our taste buds were. BYOB, I went with a nice bottle of Prosecco, girlfriend went with her usual Pinot Noir. It is by far the best hibachi experience around and the food is exceptional. The chefs are well trained and a blast to be around. I also enjoy their sushi, great way to start off the meal. This is a great place to celebrate birthdays, holidays, or just get the family together for a great meal and show. My favorite park is the saki breaks in between the cooking!
