I love Osaka Sushi! I go here probably once a month, and I'd say it's the best sushi in Denver aside from Izakayden and Sushiden (and there's usually no wait for a table). One of my friends told me about Soju Night at Osaka Sushi. I definitely wanted to go try out. When I stepped into the place , it was PACKED with people. Everyone was friendly and what an awesome service! My friend and I ordered the vege&shrimp tempura, the climax roll, Exposition Roll and Mega Lotto roll .The taste was A M A Z I N G. my personal favorite was the Mega Lotto Roll . Osakas is amazing. We moved here from southern California and sushi has been a staple for me scents I was little. After we came to Denver the hunt for good sushi and Mexican food became our weekend ritual. It took us a couple of years but we found our sushi place. This is a small very cozy sushi bar. We found it by just searching for sushi near me in Denver. There isn't a lot of signage or really any way to see it from Colorado the main street. However, they were pretty full. That tells you something that they don't rely on adverts to get people off the street. Now, the food. For a simple sushi bar the flavors were fantastic and portions were good for the cost. We had 3 different rolls and a Hawaiian white tuna. So fresh. So light. Very happy with the rolls. We are only in Denver for a week and we will be going back before we leave. The service... Extremely friendly and suggestions of "what would you have" were spot on perfect. Pretty attentive considering how busy they were. Everyone was helping everyone. The way it should be. Will be seeing them again!!! read more

Following my flight into Denver, this was the perfect Yelp find (thanks to several locals stating it's one of the best sushi places in the city). I came in for a late lunch so it was not very busy. Upon sitting at the sushi bar, I noticed that one of my favorite, hard-to-find dishes was on the menu - hamachi kama (yellowtail collar)! I immediately ordered this and 2 pairs of sake (salmon nigiri). My nice server double checked the kitchen's supply of HK (it's so good it can sell out)...turns out I was the lucky one to receive the last one! Unlike other sushi spots, rice was not included but this rice-girl-for-life had no issue ordering a side dish. All my food was fresh tasting and yummy - especially the collar's 'fatty' portions and crispy skin. The only thing I did not love was the accompanying dipping sauce (ponzu I believe). Other sushi spots served a very light, delicious sauce; however Osaka's sauce was a gelatin-like texture I did not enjoy. read more

It took 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged that we had sat down and another 10 to get our drinks. Our shrimp dumpling appetizer was not bad but the sushi we ordered was mediocre at best and incredibly overpriced for the portion size. The roll we got was also covered in cold, deep-fried scallops, which were so bland we ended up picking most of them off. For what we paid ($45 for an appetizer and two rolls) there are many better options out there. I doubt we'll be back to Osaka. read more

Welcoming owner and service was great. I ordered the Super Bowl which was loaded with fresh sashimi, fish eggs, greens/lettuce - all nicely presented. The server was very attendant and thorough. we really liked osaka! have been having a bit of a hard time finding a local sushi joint since we moved to denver (the best i've found is sushi sasa but its nice to have a neighborhood place that doesn't involve driving all the way downtown). the fish was all very fresh (despite the sushi den hype about the "fish flow in daily from japan," we thought osaka's was much better- plus you don't have the annoying trendy people to deal w/ like at sushi den). people were very friendly. service was a little slow but it was friday night and they were slammed so it wasn't really their fault. definitely will be back to osaka... :) read more

Our family really enjoys the staff and the atmosphere at Osaka Sushi. Jay the owner really puts forth an effort to interact with his patrons. I went for lunch for the first time to try their all-you-can-eat special for $15. It's only Thursday Friday and Saturday and when I called to ask about it they told me the Sushi pieces were quite a bit smaller if I'd been there previously for dinner. I was told the rolls and appetizers were roughly the same size as dinner. I was a little concerned looking at some of these earlier reviews that said there was absolutely no fish and it was all rice. After reading this I ordered heavy on the rolls and 4 pieces of the sushi. I also ordered a seaweed salad. Seaweed salad was very good. When the sushi came to be honest I was expecting even less fish. I was fine with the portion. I ordered 5 more pieces. There was a lot of rice but hey this is all you can eat for $15. The rolls were as good as dinner. For the price , and for the friendly staff I would definitely go back for the lunch special. The staff in the wonderful food keeps bringing us back year after year. read more

Well, with much anticipation I finally went to try the very popular Osaka sushi that a lot of yelpers rave about. I, of course, had high expectations after reading many reviews and knew I was going to feel a little sting when it was time to pay the bill, but I wasnt prepared for the lackluster quality of sushi. Firstly, the staff was super nice, so its very hard to give them 2 stars. I watched the owner (?) / host play with some of the customer's children... all the wait staff was courteous and happy to be there... and although the place was packed to the gills, they did a good job of keeping us tended-to. The restaurant could use a face lift in my humble opinion. It kinda reminds me of a fast food Arbys on the inside, especially in the cramped atrium.... but hey, willing to overlook all that because here comes the "best sushi in Denver" as quoted by many here. First was miso soup.... pretty much the same as every other low-end sushi spot in town.. meh. We got 4 rolls, including the Playboy, and they were all a little fishy, and kinda dull. No complex layers of flavors, no unexpected taste-explosions, just meh. We also got a few pieces of salmon, yellowtail, and seared tuna sushi. The first two were just ok; the seared tuna was the highlight of the meal. In hindsight, I should have just ordered a plate of that and called it an evening. So, all said and done, $85 including tip for hot tea and that meal for two. Honestly, we should have went to Fontana where the sushi is on the same level (actually a little better), but about 2/3 the price. Save your money and dont believe the hype. read more

Osaka sushi was not only delicious and priced well, but the owner gave me a beer while waiting for my takeout order. This seems silly to be so excited about, but it goes to show how much they care about their customers. Apparently, the fresh fish menu on the wall behind the sushi bar is amazing. I had the vegetable tempura, seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll, and playboy roll. All of which were amazing as I said above. I highly recommend this place. Great find! Came across Osaka on Yelp while in Denver. At first we questioned the exterior but once inside this decent sized slightly "divey" sushi bar was a fun and exciting atmosphere. We walked in around 9pm on Friday night, the owner greeted us and asked if the sushi bar was okay but told us we'd be in the heart of the action with the upcoming Saki Bombs on the house. Ordered 3 Specialty Rolls which were outstanding quality and great flavors. As our meal was prepared we visited with regulars who told us how it was their favorite place around and the family staff has become like good friends. The night peaked when 60 Saki Bombs were lined up on the Bar and the people celebrating bdays, started the chain reaction of the saki dropping into the beers one after the next. It was a blast. This is my favorite restaurant, sushi or not, of them all!! I used to live a couple of blocks from there and I went all of the time. Now I live over 30 minutes away and my fiancé and I still drive back all of the time for birthdays, holidays, Wednesdays, or weekends out! The owner is always there and very friendly, and the staff is just as inviting. The food is amazing- we try to try new things every time, but we definitely have our favorites! Came here for an early dinner 5pm on a Saturday evening. Unless you are from the area, it hard to tell that this place exists. It's best seen off Exposition. It behind another business. The atmosphere of the restaurant is bright, warm and relaxing. There was a party and a couple people at the sushi bar and a few people in booths. There isn't a lot of space so we got there in time before the weekend dinner rush. You can tell its a authentic sushi/Japanese restaurant when the sushi makers are all Asian :-) Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I wasn't feeling sushi that night but they had a great selection of rolls and the menu has pictures so that is a plus. I ordered the Chicken Katsu (my fall back aside for Udon soup) and it was good, I didn't like the fact they put the katsu sauce on top of my meal. I'm use to the side of sauce. Putting it on top made the panko crust soggy. My boyfriend ended up getting the chicken yaki soba noodles. The miso soup was good. The mochi was ok, a little freezer burn. Based on our meal that night, it was ok. I will definitely come back to taste some of their rolls. read more

From the outside, I was definitely having second thoughts. However there were vehicles lined up in the parking lot, so we decided to go in anyway. After arriving in Denver my companion and I were tired from our drive but wanted to eat out then crash out. After agreeing on sushi I got out my phone and pulled out yelp to see where and who was raving about restraunts nearby. This was the closest and was not a let down by any means! We were greeted right when we walked in the door. We even had our food in about 10 to 15 minutes. And they were really busy! Prices weren't bad and the food was amazing! This place is a must if you love sushi. My friend even ordered a nuclear roll, really spicy and if you finish it you receive a bottle of suki. He was able to finish though his eyes were watering at the start. I kept the bottle as a momentum. The staff was amazing also. So many good things including the food, drinks, service but the highlight was the sake bomb domino event for the whole restaurant on behalf of my birthday! I love Osaka Sushi! It's by far my favorite sushi restaurant in Denver. I think the sushi is great and they have a wide array of roles to choose from. I've had many of their main dishes and I thought they were wonderful as well. Not only is the food good, but the environment is also worthwhile. Jay, the owner, is the nicest guy and makes the whole experience in his restaurant fun and inviting. He makes sure to talk to everyone who comes in. On Friday nights he sets up this huge sake bomb, with over 30 cups and it does a sort of domino effect. Everyone in the restaurant gets a free drink out of this. It's a great place for everyone. I have always had the best experience when dining there and get take out from them almost every week. Everyone should go to Osaka Sushi, it's the absolute best!! read more

Ran by a family it seems and you get that this is my business feel because the owners hangin around the whole time. It's very good sushi. My husband and I used to live down in the area for 2 years. We have moved to Aravada and now drive down just to get Osaka. Not very impressive from the outside or the interior decorating; but the food is good and that is all that matters! A good selection with some interesting roll selections. The decorating inside is comical but comfortable--it looks like things were hung up for a holiday or event and never taken down. Again, not a "Sushi Den" but it definitely holds its own.
