They have an awesome Celebrating America Special (look at the posted pictures). Tiffany was our Server, and she was very professional, courteous, helpful and efficient. So I found out the happy hour here is all day Monday so I' might be changing up my go to date so I'm not rushed for time. This visit had the cheeseburger and fries for $6.00. It was made at the perfect temperature and great to eat. Though the selection of beers could have at least an American lager. So to my astonishment this visit was that they didn't accept my military identification. Yes I do have my drivers license but it's habit forming for me to show my military ID in case there is a military discount and they'll do it upfront. More than anything, I hate leaving a resteraunt hungry. Your Poke bowl used to be a meal. I have a 12 yr old it doesn't fill up, let alone an adult, and its not cheap. So you've reduced your portion size to the point where I just won't bother coming anymore. We in fact were going to go for dinner, but I'm not going to pay and then have to go home an eat a bowl of cereal. Ridiculous. I don't need my concerns addressed further. I just won't go back. Easy peasy. I'll go to cherry creek grill - huge portions, or cherry cricket-good value, or Blue Island -good prices and the kids filet fills up their belly. I don't need Kona, I have lots of options. Quite frankly the quality of the tuna is questionable at times, and your bar is one of the slowest, even to just pop a cork. I've eaten here so many times, I don't know why I've never rated it. This place is always reliable and the food is consistent every time. I typically love to come here for happy hour for the appetizers. Between the sushi and appetizers, I always leave happy. The service is always great and the waiters are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The music and the vibe is perfect as well. Definitely try the chicken lettuce wraps, they are amazing! read more

My husband and I stopped in this evening before a movie. Vibes were great, energy was great, service was great, food was great. We sat at the bar and had the sliders and the fried pickles, which come in this tempura batter that's really unique, not your standard breading. Two glasses of wine, two daiquiris on the rocks. Everything was clicking. This was headed for 5 stars until it came time to pay and they brought out the payment kiosk. Total fail. Tacky. You're sitting there paying a $130 tab for a couple apps and four drinks, and suddenly you're doing it on a kiosk like you're at Applebee's. We came here to check out some shops in the mall. It just so happened to be happy hour. They have a burger and fries for $6 which was delicious! we also ordered a bunch of other items to share amongst our group of 4. Service was excellent and we got seated right away for a holiday weekend as well as a soccer match on. I gave it 4 stars because the restroom could use some attention. It was only 2:30pm and it was quite a mess. If it wasn't happy hour then it would be a pretty pricey restaurant so definitely plan on going during happy hour. read more

I wanted to have dinner elsewhere tonight (kitchen was closed). Thank goodness Kona opened late, + had late night happy hour going on. Korbin (blue hair) was AMAZING!!! Do yourself a favor and ask for him. He went above and beyond. Korbin literally raised the bar. Great personality really cool person. If I'm ever visiting Denver. I'll make a trip for good for and good service. He was very attentive, he was Mr. make it happen!!! I'm in town celebrating my birthday. Came in for my husbands birthday! Always a good call to sit at the bar as I notice the service can be a bit slower at a table. Took a while for anyone at the front to get to us and others waiting to be seated so we decided on the bar. Douglas was great! Was really very excited to go celebrate Galentines at this place,after my good experience at happy hour... But today it was really not good! I choose this.... Seeing the menu But everything we ordered was full of salt From spicy sauce to peanut sauce served with Asian salad Miso soup was super salty ,I did finish half of mine.... Being vegetarian I ordered Kona stir fry(attracted to this Hawaiian name) But it was super salty with chicken chunks in it It was replaced later with tofu ,but again the tofu was super salty....and the appetite disappeared The bathroom was with broken dispenser & No paper towel.... Curly-haired female bartender upon us coming in was absolutely holding down the fort, and after chatting with her, she let us know that a patron had just started screaming at her and cussing her out. I asked where her manager was because he should be talking to the guests, not her. I was shocked when she said this was because they could not take cards, only cash. She said she hadn't seen her manager in 20 minutes, and it was visible that she had to run the floor. I saw a younger female server crying and many parties walking out. We continually asked for the manager, and she said she literally could not find him as guests were audibly yelling at the staff. We saw him on our way out, pacing the mall far away from the restaurant outside, leaving his FOH team to explain to every guest that they could not take cards. This is the most unacceptable thing I've ever seen a manager do: not run their floor. Ridiculous experience. The bartender should be in that position since she was being patient with all of the servers who were freaking out and going up to the tables herself because the GENERAL MANAGER on 6/13 bailed on his staff. read more

Came here with a group of friends for their HH tasting menu. Kona has been a staple in the Denver area for us millenials who grew up here. I remember the days where we would come almost every weekend before hitting the bars downtown. I haven't been back in a very, very long time,so I was happy to meet up with some friends here. We pretty much ordered everything on the tasting menu so everyone could try a bite of every dish. The steaks were not bad, but I'd prefer the pasta and sushi over those entrees. The house field salad and the chopped salad had more variety over the Asian salad. One of my friends raves about the carrot cake here and the manager even said some guests order it for their wedding cake! So I'd highly recommend ordering that. The brownies were good, but quite sweet, and same for the chocolate cake. Cheese cake was not bad. Overall a great experience to try out their new tasting menu and a great place to meet up with a group. The service was quick and attentive. I also like that you can pay at the table and split the tab as you wish. read more

We went here with our family and 2 other families. 8 kids 10 and under, 6 adults. They accommodated us quickly, our service by Nadia was amazing with nearly no errors, quick fixes for the small things (wrong kids drink, and out of a root beer). And all of our food came out correct and at the same time. They checked in and helped us quickly. Nadia was really great and patient, took accurate orders and checked in more than once to make sure nothing was missed. Xander at the host stand was phenomenal as well- worked with us and got us a table that suited our group comfortably. Overall it was a great experience and the food was enjoyed by all. I used to frequent this location often, but somehow stopped coming--and now I remember why. With Christmas approaching, the mall was extremely busy, and there weren't many restaurants offering full table service. There was a short wait, but we were seated fairly quickly. Our server came by promptly, and we were able to place our order without any issues. The main problem was the drinks. My Kona Big Wave took quite a while to arrive and didn't show up until right before the food was served, which isn't ideal. Worse, the beer was flat. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expect better, especially when it comes to drinks. On the positive side, the food was good. The sea bass slider, served on warm Hawaiian bread, was enjoyable, and the Kona stir-fry was tasty as well. The ambiance is still nice, and overall service was good--definitely better than average. That said, the prices are quite high for the portion sizes. We spent over $60 plus tip, which felt steep for what we received. It was nice to revisit, but unless I'm desperate, I probably won't be stopping here again. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing from start to finish. I brought three colleagues here for a recruiting dinner on a weeknight between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. The restaurant was not especially busy, yet the service was inattentive throughout the evening. After being seated, we waited more than ten minutes before our server greeted us. Throughout the meal, service remained infrequent, while several staff members were occupied rolling silverware at nearby tables. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the poor service. The sole was noticeably overcooked and charred rather than properly blackened, leaving it dry, bland, and unsatisfying. The Wagyu meatballs were dry and lacked seasoning, and the lettuce wraps were dominated by celery and carrots with very little of the flavors the dish promised. Even with the accompanying chili oil, they were underwhelming. The Crunchy Crab Roll was the highlight of the meal--I'd rate it around a 6/10--but it wasn't enough to salvage the overall experience. Even some items ordered from the happy hour menu did not feel like a good value given the quality. Overall, the combination of slow, inattentive service and disappointing food made this a poor dining experience. I was embarrassed that I had chosen this restaurant for an important recruiting dinner, and unfortunately I can't recommend it based on this visit. read more

My experience with Kona Grill this time around was not good. When we sat down, everything came quick enough and I was excited that we had the ability to reserve a table for six at 7 o'clock on a Saturday. It was just a really good timing and we had just finished shopping. I had been to Kona Grill so many times before and I always had a wonderful time and service was always great so I was hoping we'd have a similar experience this time. At the start, I kind of sensed that this was going to be not the best service. Our water glasses were all a little dirty. But only one glass was sent back at first. And another one was requested. As this happened one person in our party presented a free appetizer coupon to our server. She ordered the wings and the server said he had to check that we could order those. She didn't like being told that there were stipulations on the type of appetizer she could order when that wasn't indicated on her free appetizer coupon. One of us ordered a Paloma. The drink was sent back because it was too weak. It was diluted to fill to the top and we could not taste much alcohol in it. So a replacement drink was ordered. That one was pretty good. So now this set the tone for the rest of the time we were there and I won't bother getting into some of the other things, but let's just say that the wings came out in the wings were great right. So everybody finishes the wings. Then I ask "hey do you guys have wipes for us because you know our fingers are sticky after eating those wings" and he's like "oh sorry we don't have wipes, but I can get you extra napkins" and I'm like "thanks". So now he clears all the monkey plates except mine cause I was getting the last wing. We place our main courses order. Four of us were splitting two dishes, the wagyu steak fried rice and macadamia chicken. The wagyu steak was very greasy and it pooled at the bottom of the plate. It also lacked flavor. I was praying for salt but we used soy sauce instead since salt shakers were not present. This made it better but still not great. The macadamia nut chicken was tasty but one person didn't like the sauce on the chicken. I thought it was solid. One person ordered a sushi roll to see how they liked sushi. He didn't love it but said it tasted the way it should. The last person enjoyed his food. But on the iceberg salad he had to request more bacon because there was so little on it. At this point I was getting annoyed because it was taking too long for him to grab another plate. My water was never refilled. But on the other side of the table their water was constantly refilled. My monkey dish from the first course was still sitting there after all of the other dishes had been removed. All in all it came off as lazy serving to me. I get that I'm a little further back but come on. Because I've been here so many times I'm able to count this as a one off. But sheesh. Nothing went right. I guess the host stand went efficiently. And it's a beautiful restaurant. read more

My recent experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. I had ordered the steak frites for a quick dinner, but it was a complete letdown. The fries were okay, but the steak was gamey. To make matters worse, they forgot to include the béarnaise sauce on the side. The appetizers came in large plates for a table so small table for four people, which was a bit awkward. The sushi rolls and chicken lettuce wrap were both mediocre. The shrimp was the only redeeming item. Even after the entrees arrived, the appetizer plates weren't removed, and our water wasn't refilled at all. Considering that this restaurant is located in Cherry Creek, I expected better quality food and more attentive service. To be completely honest, that was embarrassing. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be dining there again. read more

The service was unbelievably slow -- one of us didn't even get their meal until the very end, and we had to pack it up to go because it took so long. As we all know things at Cherry Creek Mall are a bit extra. I've been to a few Kona Grills including the one in Hawaii. This place was popping but our waiter explained everything to us as this was our first time at this location. We ended up trying 5 of the rolls and each one was amazing. I'd recommend the Kona Favorites and also their big wave beer. Be prepared tho, this place is pricy for just getting rolls. read more

I returned to Kona today with my wife after 5 months. I wrote a stellar review last time but unfortunately had the worst experience I've ever had. The service was great but it was the new York strip steak for $45 that was just horrible. The only time I have ever not eaten my entire steak that I can remember. The quality of the meat and flavor just was extremely different than I have ever remembered. I actually am sad because that was me and my wife's long time favorite spot going back to prior to expanding the size. I just couldn't help but write this review based on my extreme disappointment. Fantastic dinner at Kona Grill! We shared several dishes -- the wings, Brussels sprouts, shrimp tempura roll, and Philly roll -- and everything was on point. The wings were perfectly crispy with a great balance of heat and flavor, the Brussels sprouts were caramelized and seasoned beautifully, and both sushi rolls were fresh, well-made, and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, and the service was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. Drinks came fast, and the food timing was perfect -- everything arrived hot and fresh. Kona Grill never disappoints -- consistent quality, great vibe, and a solid menu for both sushi lovers and comfort-food fans. We we're visiting Cherry Creek Mall, and thought we would once again try this upscale restaurant for lunch. We each ordered a salad and thought the food itself was very good. Service was slow. We spelt sort of sorry for our waiter who is the only one on the floor. My salad came out a good 20 minutes after the first salad arrived. We found the music to be annoyingly loud. The attention span of the red-headed waitress at the bar at approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon during the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. She spent more time on her phone, talking to other wait staff and helping restock the alcohol above the bar than paying attention to her customers. No other bartender offered to help us with another cocktail. I have been waiting for a Kona Grill that has been struggling to open in Centennial, CO for over a year. Now I really don't care if the Centennial location ever opens. You need more Gluten Free options. What is so hard about making chicken wings that are GF? I rarely write Yelp reviews, but this experience was bad enough that it deserves one. The problems started almost immediately. Despite the restaurant being slow, we sat for an uncomfortably long time before anyone greeted our table. When a server finally approached, the interaction felt completely transactional--no warmth, no hospitality, just going through the motions. Unfortunately, the real issues started once we began observing what was happening around us. Our table was seated next to the open kitchen, which gave us a clear view of the line and expo area. What we saw was honestly shocking. The Executive Chef was repeatedly putting his hands in his mouth while expediting food. I watched line cooks eating while standing on the line preparing dishes. At one point, our own server casually grabbed food out of the expo window and ate it in plain sight of guests. If that's what's happening when guests can see it, I can only imagine what's happening when they can't. I should have trusted my instincts and walked out, but I stayed because I didn't want to make a scene in front of my daughter. Unfortunately, the food didn't help redeem the situation. The quality was mediocre at best, and the portion sizes--especially the sushi--were laughably small for the price. It genuinely felt like the restaurant was cutting corners by skimping on the fish. The final straw was listening to our server openly argue with other staff members about side work in the middle of the dining room. It was loud enough that multiple tables could hear it, and it made it abundantly clear that the guest experience was the last thing on anyone's mind. Between the lack of hospitality, questionable food safety practices, and underwhelming food, this place is operating far below what any guest should expect--especially at these prices. I would be genuinely surprised if this restaurant is still around a year from now. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

But seems like it's been a turn around with the staff and service it's not getting better. For a Monday all day HH it's sure seems like a good deal but I feel like it needs to get better. Was without a drink and no silverware for a long time. Bartender seemed to be overwhelmed with the time that my toll took very long time. I hadn't been to Kona Grill in a while, so I stopped in with a friend for a drink and nibble. I was surprised at how pricey things were for small items. (An example--potstickers for $25.) We had one drink each and split a crunchy tuna roll, salmon crudo, and a side of mac and cheese. The tuna roll was good but small. The salmon crudo wasn't very special. Our mac and cheese was good but would have been better hot. Our server forgot to bring it to us, and when we asked and said it could be canceled, he told us not to worry and brought out the lukewarm cast iron. While friendly, the attentiveness of our server took a nose-dive since he didn't check in with us once we had our sushi. I understand the rising food costs; however, over $100 for 2 drinks, a side dish, a small roll, and an appetizer is too much to me, especially if the price isn't met with memorable dishes and/or quality service. read more
