This is the gin-mill of sushi bars. I go there to get sushi, that's it. The prices are very reasonable, and the sushi is generally very good. I stick with the simple stuff and I'm usually very pleased. I went there recently, though, and I noticed that the quality seemed a little off. It was strange, it wasn't my normal guy that was rolling, and I made the mistake of ordering the Toro sashimi. When it came out, it was literally frozen. It was a little embarrassing. Also, I don't think it was Toro, it just seemed like a piece of low grade Tuna to me. But, I wouldn't let one bad experience in 5 or 6 years deter me. Miso soup and a small salad are complimentary. This place has a lot of charm and is refreshingly unpretentious for a sushi bar. You generally get your money's worth if you stick with the basic rolls. Ingredients are fresh and prepared to a high standard. I personally enjoy the eel and Philadelphia rolls there as well as the dragon rolls. I also have to suggest you not be afraid to shout out your order when you want more. It's a small family run affair and everything is very casual there. We eat here at least once a week. It's a small friendly place (So big groups are pretty much out). I would recommend sitting at the sushi bar. Favorites include the Red Dragon Roll, Flower roll, and the Sweet roll. If you want alcohol, it's byob, so stop at the store before. read more

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find a place as good as the sushi haunt in my former town, but this comes quite nicely up to snuff! FINALLY I FOUND A EVEN BETTER SUSHI PLACE UP NORTH! I judge these sushi places by the amount of sushi pieces I get because come on 6 is just not enough. For $4.50 per roll, I got 8 pieces of sushi. I ordered 2 rolls expecting to only get 12 but I got 16 instead. I was SO HAPPY! The place is very small, but don't let that fool you because their sushi is extremely good. I will certainly return in the near future. I always order Alaska rolls because I don't like mayo and other sweet stuff on top of my sushi, so I try to get plain rolls instead. Osaka was also very neat and clean and the staff greeted me instantly upon walking in. I always enjoy that. It makes me think that they care and that they are on top of things. read more

Hands down best sushi I've ever had. If you want an authentic experience I highly recommend Osaka. It's been owned by the same person since it's been open, and he's there all day, every day. He only uses the freshest ingredients (I've seen him at the local farmers market numerous times) and he prepares each roll by himself. There's complementary soup and salad if you eat in the restaurant too (and if you get to know him, usually complimentary soup for take out). Was looking for a place to try sushi for the first time and I must say I was not disappointed. The minute we walked in the sushi chef greeted us to have a seat. We told him it was our first time eating sushi and he made my experience more comfortable. We all got different sushi to try it out and I was not disappointed it was very authentic and good. Shrimp Tempura and Philadelphia Roll were my top favorites. Not only that but the price is also very low we got 6 different rolls and they bring 8 each for only $29. We asked for spicy mayo on the side and they gave us the sauce with no problem. Definitely an unforgettable experience. Will definitely come more often. read more

Nasty attitudes. I came here once a long time ago and the service and food was great, but the past two-three years the quality of service and food was different. I just got off the phone after attempting to make a carry out order and for some reason my card wasn't going through even though I could make the same $30 order 300 times over, and the guy goes "your funds are low" LOL are you kidding me? So I say ok that's fine I'll pay when I come in, and he hangs up on me. I call back and th girl picks up, I say "hi I was just on the phone and you guys hung up on me, no one gave me a wait time or total" but she says "ok so what you want now?" so I repeat wait time and total. For some reason there are two people listening on the phone and the dude shouts out the price and I say forget it. He doesn't shout from the kitchen or something, he's literally on the other line listening in and yelling. Ruined my appetite and my roomie will just have to go herself or eat what I make. With two people on the phone line business must not be doing so great on a Thursday night, I recommend not making it worse. read more

Locals seem to love it. It might be that the owners are nice and since it is a small place they seem to get to know everyone. Still trying to figure out the appeal myself. It must be because sushi prices are VERY reasonable. You get a lot for your money, though the fish quality is just average. Took a while to be served and had to ask repeatedly for some tea. I've been going here for god knows how long now. its was at one point the only place i can go get the perfect spicy tuna roll. a year or two ago, the owners changed and the quality derailed slightly. some things im familiar with changed a bit and i was not happy about it. after a while i came back and things seemed to be tightened up and are back to normal. def try the fire fighter roll and the udon soup. you get the miso salad and miso soup as soon as you sit down. still my go to sushi place for sure. read more

Food is good, service is awful. Walked in with my fiancé, no greeting. Sat down. Took close to 20 minutes before anyone even approached our table. We ordered a combo platter and was told "no, that's only for take-out". It would be nice if the menu had that noted anywhere, but it doesn't. Also, what logical sense that does make anyway? Sell a $40 special only for takeout? Okay...so we ordered all of the items included in the special, individually. It worked out to roughly the same price. We eventually get our food and drinks, and it's good. Not great, but better than "just okay". We never saw the waitress again, and we were there for about another hour. Not once did anyone come to ask if our food or drinks were okay, if we wanted more or needed anything else, nothing. Not once. We finish eating in about 25 minutes, and then it is literally another 40 minutes before we get our bill, and it wasn't given to us voluntarily. My fiancé finally had enough of waiting and went to the counter to ask for it herself. Needless to say, we will not be back. read more

This hidden gem is definitely worth it. Forget about that "all you can eat sushi" place down the road... If you want QUALITY and FRESH sushi you will find it here. The restaurant itself is small and you can either eat in or order take out. I've ordered take out over a dozen times and it's like you are eating at the restaurant. The sushi is made perfectly even their wasabi is great! Don't expect to go into a nightlife sushi place expect to go to a restaurant that offers great variety and great food. If you're looking for quality, fresh, DELICIOUS sushi, you come to Osaka. It's tiny and super casual. Free miso soup and salad with all orders. Soup is always hot and delicious. The ginger dressing on the salad is my favorite! Any roll I've ever had here, from the mundane run of the mill California roll, to the more adventurous crazy dragon roll, they're always amazing and consistently fresh. They never have any issues with special requests and they'll even make any kind of special roll you ask them for as long as they have the ingredients! The prices are really fair for the quality of food here. They won't offer you a drink, but you can just grab it from the coke fridge yourself and they'll bring you a glass with ice if asked.
