We love going to Oscars at least a couple times a month.Our family has enjoyed their food and o-rings until our latest visit on 12/29/17. They seemed to have change the type of batter or the brand of o-rings themselves.We were very disappointed in what we received.The old o-rings were crunchy and flavorful but these were soggy and had the texture of a rubber band with almost no flavor. read more

Ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, grilled. Got a dried out grilled patty that covered 3/4 of the bun. There was plenty of buffalo sauce 2 small pieces of celery and no blue cheese. The bun was cheap grocery store fare. This is a restaurant that is clearly trying to cut corners. Disappointing for sure. Kopps has a much better chicken sandwich, hands down. read more

I can't think of anything negative about this place. I visit this restaurant at least twice a week and have done so most of my life(im40). I can seriously say I've never had a issue with service or the food and custard. I set my alarm to days that there's a awesome custard of the day and love almost everything on the menu. I don't often get to Oscar's but when I do, it's for the Chocolate Covered Cherry Custard. Amazing. All of the custards are so rich, creamy and delicious. The taste of the custard brings me back to my childhood. I have had the burgers in the past and they are great! Thin, juicy burgers that won't disappoint. The place is usually swarming with people on warm summer nights but there's plenty of seating space inside and out to accommodate everybody! read more

There are so many Milwaukee things I just don't understand. George Webbs. Real Chili. That weird orange starbust thing on the lakefront. Fonzie. Oh, and before I forget, lets add Oscar's to the list. I'm not just some FIB interloper though. I love Custard! I love Kopp's custard. And I love burgers! Like Fred's, in Washington Heights. But someone will have to explain to me what I'm missing at Oscar's, 'cause I just don't think it's all that hot. Went for lunch the other day and got the Reuben special, which was good. I got the reuben because I know I don't really care for their burgers. The burgers are small, thin, and just kind of blah. The reuben was good! Everything else was underwhelming. I had a cup of the chili, which they claim is made fresh every day. I don't buy it. It was almost certainly frozen at some point and I wouldn't be surprised to hear it came out of someones warehouse. This is just conjecture, but it wasn't good chili. The fries too, aren't that good. Nearly my entire order of fries were an inch or two long, which when you're trying to dip into a tiny cup of cheese is sub-optimal, at best. If the person I was with hadn't wanted to stop here I wouldn't have gone and until he wants to go again I don't think I'll be back. read more

I've been here several times growing up, was one of my cool aunt's favorite places for custard back in the day... but it wasn't until recently I discovered just how great this place is. I like to plan crazy parties and a recent one was a custard tasting... yep all the popular custard joints paired against each other to a single crown winner (did vanilla only this round; will try chocolate next summer!). Out of our 25 "testers" Oscar's was the clear winner by more than 50% of the vote, including my own... I was shocked. I swore I was a Kopp's girl but this custard from Oscar's has a great vanilla flavor that beat out the giants like Kopp's and Leon's. Not only is the custard great but I was told from the person that bought the custard for the test (from Waukesha location, I've only been to this one in 'Stallis) said that the manager was very friendly and interested in what we were doing. And it was the lowest price custard out of all that we tried. Oh, and I'm not a fast food type eater so I'm rating on custard only... several others that were also shocked by their win just said not to eat the food, but I'd say that about any of the custard joints! So it's great to hear the good guy wins for providing great tasting reasonably priced products! Go Oscar's! read more

Don't like to share negative reviews but in this case I need to. Ordered a Patty Melt only problem was they didn't give me any fried onions on the burger. Now normally I would have had them add them but I was hungry and decided I would just eat the burger, burger was dry and cold so not sitting well with me. I asked for a manager told him I wanted nothing showed him the receipt as said to him that when ordering a Patty Melt it should come with Fried onions. His response was I can give you a side order of onions....really I already ate the dried out cold burger with no onions, look at the time stamp. Won't be going back and If they actually had a way to contact them via email I would never have posted this review. Everyone can have an off night. read more

Oscars has always been the same, and it has always been great. They have some of the best burgers and onion rings around. Also, if you have not had the Oscar's special ice cream flavor, you have to try it. Vanilla, pecans, and quality chocolate is just the right combination. My mom always gets it with extra topping. We went recently for a sundaes, and really enjoyed ourselves. I had a turtle sundae, and it was SO good! My wife got the peppermint special, which I did not care for, but she enjoyed. read more

I would say that Wendy's has much better food (obviously not custard). custard - if the custard was that great I would forgive things. but the texture was more icy and the chocolate flavor was very weak. overall not impressed. place - old dated building. not in a cool-vintage way...but in an old-rundown sort of way. I should probably start this off by saying I can't really have a full Oscars experience because I'm lactose intolerant. No custard for me, but it smelled delicious. Stopped here for lunch since I work in the area. Grabbed a regular burger (no cheese) and fries. The fries were average. Nothing special, but there was nothing wrong with them. I ate them very quickly. The burger was great! Like, way way better than I was expecting for my quick lunch break. Usually on Mondays and Thursdays when I get off work at 9:30 I try to get to Oscars by 10pm to pick up Chicken Tenders and a Grilled Cheese, I have called numerous times for a pick up order and no one answers the phone. Tonight Monday 9/14/20 I called 4 times and this time it went to voice mail. I drove there and asked if they take call in orders til this time, a cashier said yes and I replied then why didn't anyone pick up the phone. She shurgged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. I didn't order my usual Tenders and Grilled cheese cause it would take longer. So I orderd a Cheeseburger. It came out very fast but the problem with that was that the bun wasn't browned like normal and the patty was dry that being said it seems like the burger was premade and I tossed it in the trash and left. On another note there was no custard because they didnt get a delivery for some reason. No problem there, I understand. The workers tonight were all playing around and thats why no one pick up the phone. I patronize oscars about 5 times a week if you count the lunches that I pick up for my Kids. This is the 4th or 5th time that no one picked up the phone for a pick up order in the last month and thats it. Im done. It has been a great 10 years at oscars with great food and custard. I have been to oscars multiple times (20+) in my 25 years of living in the Milwaukee area. I have never had a poor experience until this one. I usually order the fish sandwich or a burger along with fries and cheese curds. This time, however, I chose to try the buffalo chicken sandwich. This is where my review earns 1 star. I had FOOD POISONING that caused me to spend that night and all of the next day under the weather. Still debating whether this one BAD experience will keep me from returning. read more

It takes a unique flare for an establishment that serves classic Americana in a city flooded with custard and burger joints to garner a 5-star review. Oscars, however, has that flare and is definitely a restaurant that is a cut above the rest of its competitors. All this, despite the fact the burgers are not cooked to temp. The food is simple, honest, well-made, and manages to come to the counter hot and fresh despite how quickly it's made. It is also very affordable for the quality that they present to the customer. They use quality ingredients, and the custard is creamy and luscious with a wide variety of mix-ins and toppings. I dined here tonight and for the quarter pound cheeseburger with the works, a regular French fries, and a regular size extra thick chocolate malt the total was less than $10 and I received my order in less than 10 minutes. The food is cheaper and in my opinion superior in quality to Culver's or Osgood's. The only other place that I feel is comparable is Kopp's which garners the same reputation. They are a well established institution and well known throughout the Milwaukee area and for good reason. The staff is polite, the place is family friendly, and the service is quick and efficient. The restaurant dining room and bathrooms are clean and there is almost always plenty of parking. It's certainly worth checking out if you're in the area, and worth checking out if you're not and find yourself in the mood for a really good burger and shake. I've been here before, and I will certainly return in the future. read more

The custard is good. When the person behind the counter gave me my cone, it was already melting. And we were inside... The only thing I really didn't like was the cone. It was extremely stale and very hard to bite. Not to mention, had a big hole in the bottom so it just leaked all over my shirt. read more

Phenomenal butterscotch Oreo shakes, I never get these shakes anywhere else in the world! And every time I come here I get 10 chicken tenders! I wish the service was much faster though. This is a traditional custard and burger joint. Think burgers, fries, onion rings, CHEESE CURDS, and other snack bar favorites. The custard is smooth and delicious. This place is nice, because unlike some of the other custard stands, you can actually sit down and enjoy it in a dining room. The custard portions are very generous. read more
