Came here the other night and I got the surf and turf burrito and my husband got the California burrito. Since we moved here from California haven't found many Mexican places that are as good as what we had in California but this spot is pretty close. My burrito was huge and plenty of both meat and tons of flavor and everything mixed well and definitely filled me up for the rest of the night. My husband loved his burrito as well, said it also had alot of meat and the fries were nice and crispy which gave it a nice texture with the rest of the burrito. We will be back for sure to get the same thing and also to try different items but this may be our go to spot for Mexican food. read more

This was our first time at Oscars. We were waited on immediately although we weren't quite ready to order,we took a few extra minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place was clean and open. I had the fish burrito with fries and my wife had the taco salad, both items were delicious. Worst tacos ever I had 3 chicken tacos no lettuce just pico which they didn't ask then two shells on each soft ! Really ?! I am excited that Oscar's has finally opened a spot nearby. I have been going to the one in Franklin for a few years. This is a taco shop - not a Mexican restaurant. The tacos are authentic, fresh and reasonably priced. They absolutely have the best refried beans I have ever tasted. I usually just skip them at other places. Their sauces are really great and have a kick! We had three of the tacos: ground beef, chicken and carne asada. All really good and a nice, quick Mexican fix when we were out running errands. read more

The food at Oscars is ON POINT but the service is not. Went to eat a late dinner, showed up just before 8pm (they don't close until 8:30pm) and all of the chairs were put up like they were closing. When we got to the counter we were told that we could either eat outside or take our food home. Good service continues to be non existent anymore. read more

Place is a little hidden off the Main Street. The beef could have used more of a marinade to season it up and was a bit tough to chew. The fish taco was good but it didn't haven't the same taste as many California fish taco do, the fish was a thin cut not the full fillet as most California taco shops serve. The chicken taco was alright but like the beef it could have used more marinated to season it's taste. Aside from the 45 minute wait (which I wasn't expecting so that's on me for not being prepared and going when I was starving), this place was amazing! Their quesadillas are massive.. their salsa is spicy yet flavorful, and don't even get me started on their burritos.. simply amazing.. every bite of my Arizona burrito had me dancing in my seat. Next time I will get it 'wet' with enchilada sauce. I definitely recommend this place! It was clean and you could tell how hard the kitchen staff was working to get the orders out. I recently overheard one of the worst customer service exchanges in my life. A member of the staff at Oscar's named Adriana was dealing with an upset customer that had received an incorrect order. The employee began telling the customer that he was incorrect about what he ordered and he needed to learn how to read a menu. I'm unsure about the training for the rest of the staff and won't find out as I will never visit there again. read more

We were so excited to eat here after our neighbors told us they had eaten at an Oscars Taco Shop in a different location and it was good. So disappointing... the shrimp was like chewing on a rubber ball and the rice was dry. The beans were so salty they were inedible. The fish in the fish taco was like a Mrs Paul's fish stick. Never going back. I ordered shrimp and got steak. It's really upsetting when they tell you 30 min before the restaurant closes that they're only accepting takeout orders and they mess up your takeout order. My order went straight to the trash because I don't eat meat. The place is now closed. But even if it was open I would not go back because I live 20 min away. So it's a 40 min circle. You just can't trust the young guy taking the order will get you what you order. So I'm done with this place. read more

Eating at Burger Republic the other night and noticed that Oscar's had outdoor seating as well. We kinda forgot Oscar's was here. Looking for a place to eat outside the other day, we settle on eating here. We haven't eaten here since we left Smyrna and even then it was several years ago. This location has upped the decor and dining atmosphere. It's still counter service, but much nicer than the Smyrna location we went to. We picked up a paper menu and went back around to decide. Both of us settled on the burrito combo. They were big. The rice and beans were OK. The burrito not so much. I ordered the carnitas and my wife ordered the chicken. Mine was the better of the two. Basically an $8 pulled pork sandwich that I could have gotten at Whitt's for half the price. It did have pico and quac, but the real issue was the tortilla. You know how Blue Coast can pack a weeks worth of ingredients in theirs and still be able to wrap it without it splitting? Oscar's can do that to, with a major difference - Blue Coast tortillas are edible. The ones here were like trying to bite into thick Saran Wrap. I managed to eat most of mine. My wife ended up emptying most of hers in the plate, but even at the the chicken was rubbery, dry and close to tasteless. She was done, so I ate a little more of hers then chucked the rest in the trash can. The best part of the meal was the red sauce. Surprisingly spicy - but that's what I like. Probably will be the last time for us, unless someone can recommend something on the menu that is actually worth the money. Oh, most things here are priced about the same or more than comparable items at your favorite sit down restaurant - and - of course they still expect a tip and for you to refill your own drinks. read more

Oscar's is great. It has been my favorite Mexican food spot for years. I just wish they'd open a location in Hendersonville, so I didn't have to drive to MJ. The Cali native that left the nasty review should go back to Cali. My guess is they have a similar opinion about everything here. Oscar's is always fresh and more food than 1 person can eat. Mostly Authentic San Diego Mexican food. I had the pastor burrito and my son had the carne asada burrito. Both were on point and very big. My wife had a fish taco and shredded beef crispy taco. The fish looked like a fish stick, not like Baja California style (Taco Nazo, Senor Baja, etc). Didn't try the beans or rice, but the red and green hot sauce was good. Will be going back. read more

We have ordered from Oscars through Uber Eats about 4 or 5 times now. The food is super delicious. I have been PLEASANTLY surprised because I didn't expect a lot as the business is not well know . The food is always hot and tasty and you get REALLY good portions for the price. On my last Uber order I called them and said that I did not want any rice on one of the taco salads. The young lady that answered was SUPER courteous and kind which was also a pleasant surprise....especially these days. The food is great. It always is and always has been. My challenge is that I showed up at 7:58pm and was told that dine in was closed. This is because it closes at 8:30pm. Come on Oscar's, What are we doing here? If you wanna close at 8, do that. I shouldn't have to figure out where I'm going to eat your delicious food when I come here to do just that, eat. While I can appreciate your staff wanting to go home, there are currently 3 tables enjoying their food, and each other's company, while I've been relegated to eating in the car. Placed a to go order for the family. Got the carne asada taco salad, a chicken quesadilla and a kids bean burrito meal as well as the queso and chips. All were very good and I will just say you'd better be hungry if you get the quesadilla because it is huge! The only criticism I have is that the queso doesn't come with enough chips. They give you a ton of queso for the price!! It should come with twice or even three times as many chips though, you run out with half or more of the queso left to be eaten. The chips are good, just need to include more of them with that order. All in all very good! read more
