I attended a baby shower here over the weekend. I was immediately impressed by the simple elegance of the dining room. The staff gave ample time for my family and I to say our hello's before greeting us with drink options. Upon sitting down our server brought us fresh bread and butter with flakey sea salt on top. For appetizers we had The Ralph Piccolo Pizza, Ricotta Crostini, Cacio E Pepe Fries, and Prosciutto Di Parma. All were insanely incredible. Great flavor, crispy where it needed to be crispy, soft where it needed to be soft. For my entree, I had the Crest De Gallo Pasta. The pomodoro sauce was on the savory side. It was a set menu and I am vegetarian, it was my option. It was good!

I would love to return to try the Spicy Vodka Sauce Rigatoni. I am a spice lover. For dessert I had the most wonderful, rich, smooth chocolate mousse. The dish was called The Chocolate Spuma. It came with crumbled pistachios and...

fresh raspberries on the side of it. The flavors and textures together were perfect. The staff were so kind, had great humor, and fabulous manners. They held themselves very professionally. The head server for the event and the manager were lovely. I just had to pull the manager to the side and compliment all. I live 1.5 hours away but I would gladly book a weekend trip up to Maplewood, just to eat here again.

Prosciutto di Parma appetizer that John recommended with the fresh burrata with hot honey... my god, amazing. Everything was legitimately, exceptional, which is why we went back last night, two weeks later. However, the experience we had last night was far from exceptional and in direct contrast to our first time. Upfront, I will say that again, the food is absolutely exceptional, however the management of tables was terribly disappointing. I feel for the hostess as I feel that this is a reflection of poor systemic management. We arrived at 6:30 and told it would be a 45 minute wait. One hour and 40 minutes later, we were finally seated in what I felt was the worst location, straddling the outside gazebo to the inside restaurant on a cheap table and chairs. We had had enough and told the hostess we were leaving never to return when she switched us to an inside table. Now, again, I feel for the hostess but cannot help feel that they do not have a handle on table turns. Everyone was being told 45 minutes which was complete bullshit and not realistic. All should have been told the true turn time so that everybody could plan accordingly and find alternative options. Now Osteria LK is a gem and clearly in demand as I was told there is a line out the door at 5 pm. So, my question is, for the befit of your clientele, why not have a reservation system and If needed, as many restaurants do, have a two hour table limit? This shows respect for the diners and staff and I can't Imagine any downside. Certainly their revenues would not go down as they'd have more turns. So, I'm conflicted as truly the restaurant is stellar but waiting over an hour and a half when we're told 45 minutes is not going to work and not sure I'm returning. I'm sure they won't care as again, the place is always packed, but they should have some consideration for their customers. Food: 10 out of 10 Space: Too many tables 7 out of 10 Noise: deafening (needs acoustic deadening tiles) 5 out of 10

A gem of a restaurant in Maplewood and so glad to have discovered it! Osteria reminded us of some of the best restaurants we enjoyed in NYC but with fantastic service and unpretentious. Very warm, welcoming restaurant upon stepping in and beautifully decorated. The hosts were very friendly and helped point us to where we could keep our stroller (that's one thing to note, no strollers allowed in the restaurant given the space so if you have a very little one not quite ready for a high-chair then be prepared to hold them). Service was excellent. Our water glasses were constantly filled, tables cleared off quickly with new dishes/silverware between courses and when we had to run out as our little one was getting fussy, the waiter had our leftovers packed and check out to us in a snap. Onto the most important part of the review, the food. We really enjoyed everything we ordered which were as follow... Grilled artichoke special: Nicely grilled artichokes. I love the pairing of the smokiness of the char with drizzle of lemon on top. The garlic aioli was a perfect dipping complement for the dish. Tuna crudo: Simple dish that had a touch of sweetness from the orange, citrus from the lemon agrumato, and slight saltiness from the capers. I personally could have used a bit more citrus from a drizzle of lemon but enjoyed the dish nonetheless.

Pan Seared NJ Scallops: Fantastic. Very generous in the number of scallops there were. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Spaghetti carbonara: This pasta was good and creamy. Guanciale had the right amount of crisp. I wish they offered...

Seasonal Bread with salted butter and ricotta cheese appetizer

Still some of the best Italian cuisine in SOMa. Arrived at 8.30 on a Friday night, was told a 30 minute wait. Spot on. They texted when our table was ready and we were promptly seated. It's BYOB but we didn't. We split the seasonal bread with salted butter and ricotta cheese appetizer, my GF got the chicken parmigiana, and I got the chicken Milanese. Both were fantastic. And massive. I can't believe I ate the entire chicken parmigiana the last time I was here. My GF was only able to finish 1/3 of it. And I was only able to finish 1/2 of the chicken Milanese. The portion sizes alone make the meals worth it. Highly recommend Osteria LK. Just don't expect a quiet atmosphere during busy times because it's LOUD.

This place came highly recommended by several people. I managed to get a reservation on a Friday night. Everything we ordered tasted amazing. The grilled zucchini was one of my favorite appetizers and I definitely recommend the LK Meatball appetizer. Good sized portions and delicious food, will definitely be returning.

So...had occasion to dine at Osteria LK in Maplewood two weeks ago but didn't have an opportunity to post a review. Went again last evening and will post review on both visits. First time here and I will for sure be back. Everything was delicious from the appetizers to the entrees. A little pricey for some of the appetizers vs the portion size, but everything was delicious. Tables are a bit close together so something to be aware of. It also was VERY warm inside, so that was the only downside. Server made good recommendations which was helpful. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.

This place replaced the former Artie's pizza. Service was excellent. I walked in and the hostess asked if I was here for my friend by her name and I hadn't even told her yet I had a reservation, it was like she just knew. She even remembered my friend's name. The place is so cute. I love the modern vibes. I had the pistachio honey French toast which was delicious, but I could not pinpoint the pistachio. We got the breakfast pizza also which was definitely something different than what I'm used to. I'd never had eggs on my pizza before but it was surprisingly good. Finally we had the chicken Milanese and the arugula salad was very refreshing and the cutlet had excellent flavor. I can't wait to go back!

Solid meal at this hopping byob spot in Maplewood. Charming restaurant with solid service and respectable food. Chicken parmigiana, roasted artichokes, kale salad and burrata was all well served. Celia was great guiding us through our first meal. Diners are friendly and very chatty in this lively venue.

We really enjoy Osteria LK. Quality food and great service. Unfortunately the shrimp was so overcooked last night, rubber. The scallops were perfect. I overlooked the shrimp because the pizza and chicken Parmesan were perfect. BYOB and no reservations accepted.

Another fantastic restaurant by Chef James. Our trio started with the cacio e pepe fries, the crudo and stracciatella. They were amazingly good with us fighting over the fries which were crispy and coated with plenty of cheese and pepper. For my entree I opted for the Ralph Piccolo pizza which took me back to Ralph's place in Paterson. Amazing crust, delicious sauce and just the right amount of cheese. I also sampled the duck confit pasta which was outstanding. We will definitely be working through the rest of the menu soon.

Super pleasantly surprised with the overall experience of this new-ish restaurant in the old Arturo's space. The decor is beautiful, modern, elegantly chic, and not overdone. The staff is super friendly and attentive while being very relaxed and confident. I've visited for lunch and dinner and had a great time each visit. The portions are nice and the flavors are on point! I look forward to leftovers at home! Absolutely recommend this place. The only sad aspect is the no-reservation policy. But all good! Can't wait to go back.

Went on a Tuesday night; they don't take reservations for less than 6 so be sure to get here early. By 6pm, mostly all tables were taken. We got the last open table for 2 and were seated promptly. Bread here is rustic and amazing but you will be charged $5 per serving (approx 4 slices). Worth it 100% for dipping and mopping up the amazing sauces. Burrata appetizer was excellent. Shrimp appetizer was delicious, the sauce was amazing with that bread! Great broccoli rabe and a delicious orichette pasta dish. We skipped dessert but the meal and service were top notch. All of our plates were returned to the kitchen picked clean. Thanks Osteria LK for an awesome meal and overall dining experience!! Downtown Maplewood is always fun to visit.

Today is Good Friday. I'm here and the food is absolutely delicious. Small space with a great vibe and some cool music. Amazing food. Had the garlic shrimp as appetizer, the scallops with sautéed spinach with garlic. Gnocchi with sausage bolognese, and pan seared scallops. Absolutely delish. I will be back!

so Glad we got to enjoy a meal at this family friendlyrestaurant. We went early so plenty of tables with well behaved kids in an elegant atmosphere. I did not like that Osteria LK does not take reservations. We got there at 5 PM and we're seated right away. If you did not get there early you will have to wait potentially on the weekend. The food was very good. They were a bit understaffed though. I highly recommend the scallops. The eggplant pasta was delicious. The chicken Parm was really good, but it is a thicker cut of chicken, and is very filling. The meatball appetizer is huge and honestly, you could skip it. My sister ordered the cavatelli pasta with squash and sausage and it was really good too. The ambience is nice, but don't sit next to the door when it's cold out. read more

Brought food home for a birthday dinner and it was a big hit. Pasta was fresh and each dish very tasty. They did a great job for take out - nothing was lost in terms of temp, freshness and portions. LK Meatball was moist and served 5 for appy, pizza was tasty, fusilli bolo a hit, seafood fettuccine was hearty with plump shrimp, bucatini duck was not too rich and flavorful, and the Orecchiette w Sausage - the best large pastas and packed with sausage! 4.5 stars. Had a good lunch experience at Osteria with a friend. Hosts were very friendly and we were seated promptly even without reservations. The place is sparklingly new and its simple modern decor certainly felt comfortable. Tried the braised calamari which was excellent. Very different than typical calamari starters is most Italian places... wasn't overcooked (def not fried) and has the texture of calamari but the deeper taste more akin to cuttlefish. The pasta dishes we had were very tasty... one of ours was probably a little overcooked so was a tad stickier. Fortunately didn't detract from the flavor. Overall a good meal though with slight hiccups. Will definitely return for dinners. read more

We had went there twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Restaurant was packed on a Saturday at 530pm. They don't take reservations so we waited for 30 min. Food came out promptly and was delicious! Service was excellent! BYOB. We will be back. read more

My friend and I both ordered the branzino, which was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. That with the bottle of white wine that my friend brought made for a lovely meal. The staff were attentive, with the food coming out/dishes being taken away pretty quickly. Food pricing is reasonable considering the quality, plus restaurants are all pretty pricey everywhere in NJ. I would love to come back and try some of the pasta dishes on the menu, but will try to come for lunch or early dinner (by 5:00 pm) one weekend because they don't take reservations at all. My friend and I got there at 6 pm (on a Fri night) and waited almost exactly 1 hour to be seated despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't even half full. It only became completely full around 7:30 pm. It's probably due to the fact it's a new restaurant and they still need to figure out staffing. Management should seriously consider taking reservations. I would've given this restaurant 5 stars if it weren't for the long wait. I really don't like waiting more than 20 minutes (30 min tops) for any restaurant. read more

My husband and I were excited to try this new restaurant in Maplewood when it opened, and it did not disappoint. The burrata and prosciutto was delicious - fresh and tasty with a bit of hot honey. Branzino was plentiful and meaty, and the spaghetti with crab was excellent - full of flavor, cooked al dente. There were a number of pastas I wanted to try. Service was attentive and professional. Perfect for date night, girls night out, and even for an elevated family dinner. A little pricey but well worth it. Had to wait 20 min on Friday night at 6 for a table for 2. I grab a seat at the counter and start checking out the menu. The breakfast menu card is tabloid sized and filled with choices on both sides and is available all day. I'm afraid to see what the lunch and dinner menu looks like. One of my breakfast favorites is corned beef hash and I get it with 2 eggs sunny side up with home fries and white toast. I love laying the oozy yolk onto a slice of toast and if there's any bread left, use it to sop up any runny yolk left on the plate. Of course, the yolk runs onto the hash and home fries, too. After this leisurely filling breakfast, can I even think about lunch or maybe dinner? I'll have to make a point to come back to see what's in store on the lunch menu. Was super excited to try Osteria LK when I saw it moved to the corner of town! We walked down early around 5:30 (not on a weekend) and were able to get a table for two outside right away. I did not realize it was BYOB until our waiter asked if we had a bottle but it was a welcomed surprise. It was peaceful outside and the tables felt relatively spaced out so it was easy to talk to one another. Now the food... all I can say is that it was incredible! We got the chicken parm and it was perfectly balanced, and the carbonara was nice and sharp with the flavors. We also got the bread, amazing, and the broccoli rabe was alright, hoping to try something different next time. I also felt the portions and quality of the meal warranted the more expensive prices. Perfect spot for a date night but I recommend going early and just take your time to enjoy! read more
