With their opening in the former Wickman House, this restaurant had big shoes to fill. The good news is that the shoe fits perfectly!! We have visited three times this summer and food, service (shoutout to Mary!) and ambiance have been superlative. We have ordered diversely from the menu and have never been disappointed. UNDERCOOKED PASTA, TASTELESS CHICKEN, BWAN SOUP THAT IS NOT SOUP, MEATBALLS MADE MOSTLY OF FILLER, ATROCIOUS SERVICE--THIS IS NOT WICKMAN HOUSE; DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY! We were regulars at Wickman House, which was superb. We mangled a reservation at Osteria Tre Tassi to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated at a small table in the bar next to the bathrooms It was Sunday at 7PM, with many open tables in the dining room. We asked to be seated in the dinner room and were shown to a double table next to the fireplace, the same table we had sat at two days before Wickman House closed. Our waiter came to us and asked, "Would you care to start with champagne?" We had just been talking about the need for a champagne toast,so we were happy to learn that they had champagne, and said yes. We asked which kind and which label, when the waiter responded quickly "It's Italian, Prosecco, so you know it's going to be fantastic." He was gone before we could object, (does he not know the difference between Champagne and Prosecco?) returning with two chilled glasses of Prosecco in red wine glasses. It was young and tart and distinctly flat. We ordered the meatballs for appetizers, along with the Tuscan bean soup and a green salad. The soup was not soup at all, it was simply white beans coated red. This was supposed to be ZUPPE (soup) Fagioli alla Toscano, but we received only Fagioli Alla Foscano. which is a plate of cooked beans. My wife took a bite and asked me to take a taste. Other than those two spoonfuls, we left the rest. When the waiter picked up our dishes we told him that the soup was not soup. He said nothing as he took away the dishes. The meatballs , Polpette Alla Napoletana, which were supposed to be veal and pork, was filled with breadline stuffing. We ordered two glasses of red wine.to go with our entres My wife ordered pasta, homemade MEZZE MANICHE, and I ordered the roast chicken. Tge pasta came under-cooked. It was tough to chew. Getting pasta al dente isn't difficult. It requires only that the cook watch the clock. Sampling during cooking also is a guide to whether the pasta is ready. The cook evidently didn't follow this simple instruction. We left more than half of the pasta. I divided the chicken with my wife. The chicken came without any discernible seasoning, except salt. It was tasteless. When our waiter arrived back, we said the pasta was under-cooked, and again he said nothing. He asked if we wanted desert, I handed him the credit card, saying to just get us the bill. He returned quickly. Nothing had been renewed from the bill, and he was as speechless as before. He vanished. The co-owner and executive chef of this rest is Robin Brown. He has good intentions, to mimic close Wickman House's commitment to freshness of ingredients and makes bg meals from scratch, such as making his own pasta. But before he can have uniformly the highest quality, he needs to have uniformity in his process. We were customers on Sunday evening. May d that's a day when he has his second string staff running things. All I know is that on Sunday evening, the food was bad and the service brusque to the extent of being rude. We love the ambiance of this old house turned restaurant. The classic Italian menu is full of homemade pasta options using garden-to-table vegetables from the property and near by farm. The night we went was packed but they did an excellent job accommodating our big group in a timely fashion. read more

Food was ok, but service was terrible. Staff poorly trained, many menu items including cocktails unavailable. Management inattentive. Owner simply unbelievable rude. My wife and I were really looking forward to dining there, especially since it previously housed Wickman House, where we enjoyed many wonderful meals. While the food was just ok, the service left much to be desired. Osteria Tre Tassi markets itself as an upscale Italian restaurant, but the service did not reflect that standard. Our server seemed inexperienced and visibly anxious. When we requested sparkling water, he appeared flustered and returned with the surprising news that they didn't have it. Instead, he offered club soda at $2 per glass, as if we had made an unusual request. After taking our order, he returned five minutes later asking if we wanted to order drinks, forgetting that we had already ordered two of the same cocktails. Eventually, he informed us that our drinks were unavailable due to a lack of ingredients. We adjusted our order to one cocktail, and my wife went to speak with the receptionist about our concerns, but her response was not helpful. Soon after, a different server took over. We received two drinks instead of one and had to send one back. Our food arrived at a pace more akin to fast food, which felt rushed. No one from management approached us to discuss our experience or offer any apologies, which was disappointing. Overall, it was an unfortunate experience that I felt compelled to share. I hope they can improve moving forward. Reply from the restaurant: Unfortunately I know service was not on spot on your visit but nothing would've changed your mind that evening. I'm glad I never made it out to greet you folks because I would've probably sent you out on your way, especially after we went above and beyond to make things right and Mrs. still had a bad attitude towards my server that I allocated to your table and that I won't support! Sometimes things are not meant to happen and this is the perfect case... ps this is a farm to table restaurant and when I do run out of items from the farm I will not stop at the grocery store and buy items to please you folks from Illinois... Eaten here a couple of times. Gnocchi was excellent. Husband pasta was very good. Focaccia was the best I've eaten. Servers are very prompt and knowledgeable. In the old Wickman House location. Would highly recommend. read more

We had a wonderful dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary. It was our second visit to this restaurant. We had the special caprese salad, pappardelle with meat sauce and a pasta with swordfish. The service was impeccable. While we were eating dessert our waitress sat next to us and softly sang Lucky to be Loved by You. It was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for us. The food is fresh and delicious. We had a trip to Italy in May and this restaurant can hold its own with any of the places we ate in Italy. A special shout out to Mary for making our night so memorable. read more

We had a reservation of five people for the evening. A dirty martini cocktail was ordered upon receiving it was not correctly made and another drink was not offered in it's replacement. Upon ordering our entrees one person in our party was told her entree was not available. She was not offered a menu to make another selection. In our party three of us ordered salads, no anchovies were available and the salads contained brown lettuce. One person in our party did not receive her entree along with the others, upon discovery of the missing entree, the waitress failed to say she forgot to order it. The entree was eventually served, when everyone else had completed their meals, however the fish was not completely cooked. All of these issues were brought to the manager/owner's attention, his only response was the lettuce was from Monday and this was Thursday evening. We received no compensation for all the mistakes that occurred during the evening. We needless to say will never return. read more

The service here does not match the quality of the food, which is disappointing. We had a reservation, but had to wait 40 minutes for our table! Even for a new(ish) restaurant, this is unacceptable. There was also zero acknowledgement or apology by anyone for us having to wait so long. Once we got to our table, the service didn't improve - our waitress was brusque, dismissive, seemed extremely stressed, and was quite forgetful. When it came time to order, she could not answer my basic questions about food on the menu and her overall demeanor seemed more appropriate at a casual dive bar versus a nice and not inexpensive restaurant. There was no water service and we had to ask for water repeatedly, which took forever to come. I almost went up to the bar to refill my cup, because it was so slow. Food wise, the focaccia was pretty good, the clams and mussels were fine, and the bolognese pappardelle was good. Food is not the issue - front of house / service is the real opportunity area with this place. read more

1 star - they got 3 strikes from me. 1st, we reserved a table outside - it's summer in door county, I want to eat outside. They had the reservation, but forgot the outside part - strike 1. So, we sat at an indoor table, it took 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and even ask if we would like anything, water? Really? That was strike 2...We ordered some appetizers - calamari with zucchini was good. Foccacia was horrible - plain white bread and it was toasted (maybe because it was old?), not even close to a foccacia...then we ordered main course. 30 minutes after ordering, waiter came and told us they are out of chicken and we had to pick something else for our daugther. Then, it took another 30 minutes to get entrees to the table. Almost 2 hours after we sat - strike 3...Food was ok, whitefish was good, gnocchi was bad...They brought a check and didn't even ask about desserts (maybe because they were closing by then?). So, over 2 hours for dinner with no dessert, mediocre food and horrible service, will not be back. If this is what the upscale dining is, I say 'no thanks'. I'll take chefs hat or fat belly any day.
