I've purchased two glasses here one pair in 2015 and another pair just a couple weeks ago . The employees are extremely rude, if you don't like people then please don't work in customer service . Both times I purchased my glasses I had to return them because I was not satisfied . The first time I didn't understand one of the options and was told to "google it" . The second time i came prepared so I wouldn't have to google it . If only the employee took time to show me the different options (which they have a display behind their desk) for the anti glare I wouldn't have been disappointed when I picked up my glasses. The only reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the manager was helpful and addressed my concern immediately. Definitely not going back for a third pair. read more

My experience with this facility was good with the ophthalmologist because she had experience with children with amblyopia. But, the front desk is a whole different story. Only had ONE great customer service experience with the front desk, since I have been a customer for 2yrs. Its hard to find a good DR but its time to move on. Due to lack of good customer service. Where do I begin? Horrible! The optometrist is friendly and patient which is great, but the positive side of the experience ends there. The staff are not friendly or helpful. They have low key 'don't care or want to be here' attitudes. I asked over and over again about the details of my eyeglasses order to be sure my glasses would be what I wanted since they're costing me an arm and a leg. They arrive and they aren't at all what I wanted. They said they allow a one time switch for frames/lens prescription changes when re-made...okay, great. So I pick new frames and again I go over in detail asking if my lenses would be what I wanted- the girl kept saying yes they will be. Long story short, they came in and ARE NOT what I asked for. Since they only allow a one time switch/'fix' I'm now stuck with these glasses that aren't right because the staff didn't care enough to listen and actually HELP the customer/patient to ensure it's right. Horrible experience-expensive and time consuming experience. I'll be sure my family and no one I care about ever comes here again. You may get super lucky and go in when they happen to have nice caring attitudes- but the likelihood of that is slim. read more

I had my kids and I exam here and that part went ok. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good variety of glasses. I was told the glazes would be ready 3-5 business days from the day ordered. Here I am 2 weeks after and glasses are still not here. I have called for the past three days to check on the statues and have been told the same thing ". They have been shipped". No info on why hey haven't arrived yet, when I can ex left them not even an " I am sorry". I have never had to wait this long for a pair of much needed glasses with no real answers at what is going on. I think it is unacaptable and bad service when you can't hold your promise to a customer that spends $500 in your office and offer no explanation for the delay. Saying "hello" but being rude and unaccommodating to customers does not constitute customer service! I recently had an encounter with an employee John. I had called ahead of time to ask if the staff could wait a couple of minutes because I was headed to their office to pick up contacts right before their closing time. I have been a customer for a few years now, and since I called ahead I was hoping they could wait a couple of minutes if necessary, as a courtesy to me if I was not able to make it before 6pm. But the receptionist told me that they would close exactly at 6, whether I was there or not. I made it to the office just in time, but I expressed my opinion on how I felt it discourteous for the staff to treat their patients with such a lack of patience and understanding. After all, this is a matter of being able to see or not see. When I arrived I explained to the staff that I felt I received bad customer service. To which John replied, "I said 'hello', why is that bad customer service?" I then explained to him the cold conversation I had over the phone with the receptionist. And to that, John replied, "we should not have waited". This office is extremely pricey. I get the same contacts at Costco for $10 less and with the horrible customer service you get, it's definitely not worth coming here. Dr. King is very sweet. It's just unfortunate that she has front office staff who treat customers this way. I am no longer a patient here. read more

My husband and I scheduled an appointment to get his prescription contact lenses. We only go there twice a year because his prescription is covered by a health insurance, and in those visits they cannot provide us with at least "good" customer service. According to a representative at the front desk the annual eye examination is not covered by our insurance, which has never happened before, and we have not been informed ahead of time. At the end of our visit, we have been told that we have to pay because that information is provided to us in the email and the post card that they send in mail. First of all, we have never received a post card from them in the 3 years of being clients. Secondly, they had my husband's email on file wrong and did not care to verify it ahead of time. When he pointed that out to the representative, she did not even apologize or tried to look into the issue of why that could have happened. She made it look as if it were our fault. For 3 years of being clients, they never bothered to check that the last name on file was also wrong!!! The attitude of the representative was extremely rude. We were hoping that we would be taken care of but instead we got poor treatment and horrible customer service. This was the last drop since last year my husband had an issue of them refusing to provide his prescription contact lenses when he was going out of the country. Otay Ranch Eye Works stated that he had to do an annual eye examination but AGAIN was not informed of that, thinking that he could just order the contacts and go on his trip. My husband told them right then and there that he never received any notifications in email or mail due to the same issue of his personal information on file being incorrect. Supposedly they corrected it and this year he has the same issue. I would suggest to not get services there since they do not care or try to care about their clients. I am very disappointed with them since we gave them more than one chance to change our opinion about them. read more

Horrible customer service! I'm giving 2 stars just for the Dr who saw my daughter. She was awesome. It was a Sunday and I was extremely happy they offered weekend appts. My daughter and I were dropped off by my husband. We had finished the eye exams and had a good 20 min to look at eyeglasses. Mind you it was overwhelming as it was my daughter's first time needing to wear glasses and I come from a family that never wore them. Anyhow I told the lady at the front desk that I need more time to decide on a pair and would come back. I asked if it was ok to wait inside while my husband was on the way. There was still 10 minutes left before closing. The lady was fine with it. However her coworker approached me a minute later and basically was kicking me out of the store. I was 8 months pregnant as well. Very rude! If you're so in a hurry to leave on a Sunday then don't see any patients at all! read more

I had my eyes checked and purchased a pair of glasses in mid July. I was told I would be called when my glasses were ready and that it would take a week. After waiting two weeks I called and asked where my glasses were. I was told there was a problem where they were being made and that it was going to take some more time. I waited three weeks and still heard nothing. I called on Monday and left a voicemail for someone to call me back when they were open and no one ever did. I call today and they verify all my information, including my phone number, before telling me that my glasses were ready and that they tried to call me but it didn't work. I said that didn't make any sense because they have my correct phone number on file. She then proceeds to tell me that since they couldn't call me they emailed me that my glasses were ready. I NEVER received an email that they were ready, and they have my correct email on file because I got a birthday email from them and they send me ads. So I'm very confused as to why I was never actually contacted when my glasses that I paid 200$ for were ready, and why I was lied too? Very unprofessional. read more

My wife requested an eye exam for my daughter over the phone. The appointment was made and my daughter drove almost 80 miles total to Otay Ranch Eyeworks! All for nothing because the staff failed to inform my wife that my daughter was not due for an eye exam until next month! The staff told my daughter that she would have to pay more than $100.00 for the eye exam when our copay is only $10.00. I'm so disappointed in the staff! Very poor service on this occasion. What a mess and no customer service. Wait three weeks for glasses only when they come in you can't see with them. They did not want to do anything. Even told us to go home and try them over night. Didn't accept that...felt if we went in the next day we my find some better service and see the doctor. Well the service started out better they checked both old and new and said yes their was a significant change. Please note at exam the doctor said she was only uping the reading by.25. So we know some went wrong between exam and what was ordered. Thought they would handle like today. Nope...no dr appt...told to wait until next week end. The young lady who helped us was great hence why I gave 2 stars however, once we saw the actual Dr. she seemed highly annoyed and very short. I brought my 4 year old son with me into the office, keep in mind he's 4 so he's talking to me and asking questions while my oldest is getting her eyes examined. The Dr asked us to leave the office and wait outside in a rude tone. After the exam she sent my child to come get me and the Dr was waiting for me at the front counter where she then gave a two sentence explanation that my child needed glasses and then abruptly walked off. I will not come back here (well only to pick my child's glasses) nor will I recommend this place to my friends or family. This is place isn't kid friendly and the Dr isn't a people person either, I can see if my child was unruly running through the store but that clearly wasn't the case. Or maybe she was having a bad day who knows, what I do know is this isn't the way you treat your patients. My business was NOT valued, worse experience ever. read more

I went in and they had really cool frames like oliver peoples, oakleys, spy etc. Doctor could see me so I figured aight. Doctor was hot and really professioinal. The optometrists are friendly and knowledgeable and the staff is helpful in showing all of the different frames. My last visit was in August and since then I have received many complements on my new glasses! I love the selection of high quality, designer frames. I had seen the same eye dr since I first needed glasses when I was a little girl. I made the mistake of trying this place. I thought I'd give it a try since my original dr was all the way I.b and this place was down the street. First when I went for my exam I never got the same dr. Each fitting/exam I went to I kept telling them it doesn't seem like they made a difference in my prescription cause I still see blurry and especially driving at night. I went back three times and each time they told me that my eyes will adjust. Since I've had bad eye sight my whole life I knew they wouldn't but I was annoyed of already going back 3 times and they didn't care to listen. So I just stuck with it. It's been 8 months now and I can barley see anything, I have constant headaches and eye irritation due to constantly straining to see. I can't even see the TV guide. So I called them to see if they can help me out cause I can't go another 3 months like this. Basically verbatim got told "I'll have to tough it out till next year when my insurance can cover the exam". Even tho they made the mistake of not giving me the right prescription in the first place. So my original eye dr was nice enough to just charge me for an eye fitting so I don't have to "tough it out" for the rest of the year till my insurance can cover an exam. I'll be driving to I.B from now on thanks for the worst customer service read more

Have never done a review before, felt compelled this time. This was my second attempt to get glasses from this place. The first time took two months to get glasses. This current time, the glasses were not what I asked for and I had to again wait and call back to ask when they would be ready. I was told I would get a call from the owner or from the person at the counter who corrected my order with the lab and was going to expedite it. I did not receive a call and had to call to check what the status was a week later. It will be a month this time before I get my $300+ glasses. (At least that is the current status.) The focus here is to sell expensive frames and there is not a focus on getting the glasses to you promptly and having them be what you paid for. The personnel are very nice, I will agree to that and the doctors seem to know what they are doing. It is just not carried through when the order is placed, and having to wait a month or more for extremely expensive glasses and then having to wait again while they correct the order, is not something I will endure again. I WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FROM NOW ON. read more

Very nice office, new glasses, but is it worth it?! I do not think so, I do not see that the business practice caring for the patients more than their sales. I brought my husband there and the workers were very nice, few weeks later, my husband's glasses was cracking even though it is made out of good material as they said. We came back so many times, and there was nothing they could do but ask for more money to remake the lenses to a different material. I feel that the first initial visit was welcoming but in the end after our money has been collected, we do not feel like we are real patients, more like buying lemon cars. read more

What can I say about this place? Awesome friendly warm. We went here for our first time because my son broke his glasses. We used to use a different office but we decided to look closer to home , I am absolutely glad we did they were great. From the time we walked in they were warm and friendly and made us feel at ease. My son is afraid of the air puffer and they were great with him they told me don't worry we can do a different method he will be ok. Then they took my other 2 kids got them all set up and then it was my turn for testing. Now for the Doctor. She was warm and friendly and made sure my kids got what they needed and made sure if we had any questions she answered them. My son is a 9 yo diabetic with celiacs disease and she took the time to ask him about it and then showed him how the eye works because he was curious THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITMENT TO HELPING OTHERS AND MAKING KIDS FEEL GOOD. read more

Had a bad experiance today with Otay Ranch Eye Works. After several calls from them saying we need an eye exam and HAVE to come in we call for an appt. I talk to the guy checking my insurance and he says the contacts are covered for another year and your insurance is the same as last year. So my son makes an appt and gets the eye exam done. When he's done he frantically calls me as says they want 80.00 plus 35.00 for contacts. I ask to talk to the manager and inquire why it jumped from last years 15.00 plus 25 for contacts? She says well that's what your insurance covers. I said when we made the appt they said it was the same as last year and they said the contacts where covered. She explained that they miss-spoke and meant the contact exam was covered. I explain to her that still doesn't make sense and it's a far cry from last year and from what we where initially told when we made the appt. If there's any changes why did they wait until the exam was done to inform us of them? I mean we made the appt and they checked our insurance one day prior. The manager didn't care to make up for their mistake she just said we can release the prescription to you AFTER you pay. This is something they'd have to do anyways.Overall a very bad experiance. They did the old bait and switch you'd expect from a used car lot or a scam artist not your neighborhood eye dr, Be aware of this place. Get everything in writing or better yet avoid at all cost. This is probably why this place is always empty and can see you right away. Weird yet it sounded to me like someone walked up to her because her tone to me over the phone suddenly changed and said things like "happy to help you" when she hadn't helped me and it was out of the blue. I've been going here for years and cannot express how great this team is. I love that they are open on Saturdays since I work during the week. Never had an issue with scheduling an appointment. The receptionist are always so kind and helpful. Geo the tech is very skilled and definitely pays attention to details, especially when I'm looking for new glasses. He was also able to work the the lab in getting a pair of Tiffany glasses to be a certain shape and size to fit my needs. i love that Geo went above and beyond to help me. The Doctors are very attentive and knowledgable. I feel very comfortable with her. I've some reviews about the pricing being high but, honestly, these aren't your run of the mill Walmart glasses. They're high end. You get what you pay for: quality. I plan on continuing going here and referring my friends and family. Definitely a place worth going to. Thank you all sooo much! read more

This place is A TOTAL RIP OFF!!! Staff is poorly informed & gives false information!! Do not believe anything they say. They quote you one price and give you a totally different HIGHER price when you go in. They charge for EVERYTHING...try contacts & if there is a problem...another charge to try another brand. Liars and money hungry!!! DON'T PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS!! The response is "interesting" I got 1 complimentary visit where the contacts were irritating my eye so badly that I could not see & the Dr. instructed me to put Refresh drops in my eye until it cleared up then come back to try another brand which would cost $20.00. My eye was so irritated that it took over a month to clear up and when I went in for a different brand of contacts I was told that I had to have a "contact fitting" which would be $180.00!!!!. I never got "free trials" the "trials" that I received were replacements for faulty contacts that I had paid for. All that I wanted was to try another brand and would have paid the $20.00 fee for that NOT $180.00!!! read more
