Used to serve anything that's both American and Italian, until Vanessa had made it into a family run small business restaurant which was absolutely welcoming for both locals and tourists alike since 2004. It's the only reason I come to 7 Mile House during Asian History Month that aims for Filipino fun. My specialty drink: Ube Colada (non-alcoholic). I want to try the Lambanóg, but it's few years late and I wouldn't mind since I prefer any drink that's zero proof. This creamy purple smoothie is so refreshing, I wouldn't mind getting a brain freeze. Main course? Actually, I take something out of the lunch menu, which is Beyond Burger; pickles at the top, lettuce, tomato, and cheese; old school American style with a plant based patty! I eat the fries first since they're fresh and chewy. Wish I stick around for an appetizer or a salad; but given that there's several people dining indoors while few of us outdoors, I'll have to pass. Before I walk a couple of blocks toward 7 Mile House, I noticed the gas prices for both gas stations are just as high as near my neighborhood. I'll be wondering how long will a famous family run restaurant can go an extra mile before it runs out of steam. My best bet is that we must support each other as local communities, just like how the 7 Mile House of today had kept us together for generations.

We got the espresso martini flight, beef and chicken lumpia, and sizzling pork adobo. The espresso martini flight was pretty good - I never would've thought to try different variations like ube churro, salted peanut butter, and banana pandan - a small deviation from the classic, but it boasts wonderful fusion flavors. The lumpia was good but they mixed it so it's a gamble if you got chicken or pork, and I wish they separated it out so we all get an equal share of each. The sizzling pork adobo is good but could be better. The rice is a bit overcooked. Service is very slow - it's fine given all the sports playing, but it is quite inefficient. Definitely plan a lot of time here, and a very long waitlist if you don't make a reservation.

This meal was consumed at home on St. Patrick's Day. Delivery always robs you of a restaurant's true experience but despite ~50% of my genes being Irish, I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk people. My husband ordered the corned beef & hash because he's obsessed with the "tradition" aspect of food. I swear to god it's the only reason we tried this place. He could be on the road in the middle of the Mojave with a trunk full of perfectly ready-to-eat food, and he'll starve his ass to death if it happens to be St. Patrick's Day unless somehow a corned beef & hash food truck materializes in the desert. It's positively infantile. My Ratatouille moment was with the beef stew. The last time I had a proper beef stew was probably more than 25 years ago. My mom made my grandma's recipe when I was a kid. My husband, bless his heart, has erroneously claimed for 20 years, with minimal pushback from me because I'm polite, that there is no good stew. "It's a terrible dish with dried out meat bathing in oversalted broth!" He changed his mind when had the stew from Napper Tandy. Now the cheesecake? The cheesecake was an absolute joke and it wasn't even particularly great. It was very average but when you factor in the value, it becomes terrible. Maybe I got the last slice from an oversliced cheesecake but $6 for a sliver, and I do mean sliver--at the crust's edge my cheesecake was no wider than 2". You guys can buy a whole cheesecake from Atlanta Cheesecake Co. that's 32 Oz. for $12. You charge $6 per slice. Stay with me here. You can give customers a nice fat ol' piece of cheesecake from the delectible Atlanta Cheesecake Co. that actually makes it seem like they're getting their money's worth, it will taste amazing, and you can still charge $6 per slice. That's a 300% profit!

Damon and Lee have created a fantastic bar that's been a beloved San Francisco spot for years. I…read morehave been a loyal supporter and truly value the community they built. My experience soured due to harmful actions by bartender Mary, her boyfriend Damien (who does not work at the bar), and Kim (another bartender who got involved despite missing the original incident). One evening, Mary was drinking whiskey on shift while her dog appeared unwell nearby. As friends who had plans to get our nails done the following week, I offered to take the dog out for some air when she did not respond. I stepped outside for 60 seconds, returned immediately, and explained what happened. She seemed upset at first, but it appeared resolved at the time. Damien (around 6 feet tall and 200 pounds) escalated the situation aggressively by dragging me outside, yelling at me with a closed fist raised, and using a racially insensitive slur (a variation of the n-word). This was deeply terrifying for me as a Black woman who is 5 feet 3 inches tall and about 120 pounds. It was not the first time either, he had previously shouted at me when I jokingly asked for a glass of water, though he later apologized, saying that is how he talks to friends. I accepted that and moved forward as adults. A week later, I returned to the bar calmly to clarify the situation and even apologize for any confusion about the dog. Instead, Mary called the police, falsely claiming I had threatened her and that I was banned from the bar (both untrue). Six officers arrived and, after hearing my side, confirmed I was within my rights as a customer and that while she was not required to serve me, others certainly could. They all comforted me while I cried because I could not believe the escalation. I complied fully and left peacefully. Despite this, Mary and now Kim (who was not even present for the original issue) continue to deny me service, blacklist me, and spread false stories, like me trying to steal her dog, to other bartenders and patrons across San Francisco. This defamation has real consequences: people I have known for years now avoid me, harming my deep community ties here, where my family has roots, and my professional reputation in human resources, where trust is everything. Mary has also openly admitted to me and others that she takes unpaid shots while on shift. She previously bragged about getting a Black male bartender fired by sending footage of a messy bar to the owner, then later denied it, showing a pattern of inconsistent and harmful behavior. This ongoing exclusion, harassment, and slander must end. I deeply respect Damon and Lee's hard work and want everyone to thrive and make money in this tough economy, but the actions of these staff members undermine the inclusive, welcoming environment they have created. Update: I am pursuing legal action and have a meeting with an attorney next week. I have never received an apology or a chance to discuss the situation, and so many people are now shaming me and my name because of a complete misunderstanding. The owners have decided I am no longer welcome, and I fully respect that. I want everyone to be happy and to make money in this economy. If the bar must be held liable, I will likely drop the suit, but if I can stop Mary and Damien from continuing to harm my reputation, then I will do so. Because I am being honest, I am happy to swear on a Bible about this experience and why this matter is completely ridiculous and unjust. Black people, women especially, are unfairly targeted in the US, and the one place that was a haven, the Bay Area, is now seeing that inclusion spread thin. I refuse to lay down and say it's okay. It is not. The optics do not lie, and yet again I am having to stand up for myself without a single human being supporting me. It hurts, but I won't let this ruin others' good experiences at the bar. Do better and be better, life is short, and there's no need to continue spreading hate.
