I have been to this outback steakhouse for years and the quality of their food seems to be declining TREMENDOUSLY. I ordered a porterhouse and a friend of mine ordered a NY strip last night. It was SO hard to chew. I think I've gained a muscle or two from chewing. The blooming onion is not as good as it use to be. The only thing that tasted alright was the mashed potatoes. Seriously, I'm embarrassed to say that I went to Outback and actually liked it. I've been really spoiled by quality steaks ever since I realized that ordering steaks any other ways other than rare or medium rare was just flat out ignorant. But seriously dudes, $10 dollar 6 oz steak with one side? (I had the steak diablo $9.99) You just can't say no to it. Outback will never get the grilling correctly on your steak but if I'm not so hungry and really just want a piece of steak, I don't really care. Order rare at outback because rare means medium / medium rare. So I can't even imagine how the steak will be cooked if you order it well done.... Burnt? Unable to chew? Anyway, my friend had the build your own steak 6 oz steak ($10.99) + lobster tail ($12.99). And the lobster tail... was seriously a sad sad excuse for a lobster tail. 2 bites and it's gone. But again, it's Outback. Though the quality may be still in question, I will be a frequent visitor for the 10 dollar steak if I just want a quick piece of meat ;) read more

One word- HORRIBLE!! There where FOUR sets of tables they where dirty when we walked in and dirty when we walked out. The "hostess" staff was everything but nice! My fiancé and I wanted to sit at the bar seats, and apparently we couldn't because you have to be seated there - which I was told rudely by the "hostess" staff. Once we got seated we ordered our appetizers which included our normal ahi tuna and Aussie cheese fries- our tuna had blood on it and our Aussie cheese fries where WITHOUT bacon. So instead of the fries we ordered a bloomin onion- this came out two minutes before out food. My "bloomin onion steak" was without the bloomin onion- and disgustingly fatty. My fiancé had the Alice spring chicken which was dry and HAD bacon on it! I ordered a sprite- lets just say there was a potato skin stuck on one of my ice cube. The waiter wasn't very tentative. (It was a Sunday night (snowing) and the restaurant was empty!!) The manager was talking to his employees near the bar. Less than A-OK. Obnoxious guy shouting out your name that's like literally 2 inches away from you when your table is ready. The service was extremely slow on a Sunday night, but I guess it was because he was a bit overwhelmed with his section. No bread and water for 15 minutes and when we got our food, it wasn't hot. My husband and I came here a few times and every time we came, the service sucks. It's never busy when we go and the waiters always act like they don't want to be there. They never come by to check on what we needed and they don't say a word. We don't expect world class service, but decent and genuine service is good enough. However, we had gotten a gift card for Christmas and were reluctant to go back, but decided to give it a try, again. Two words: Food poisoning. I am sitting here with food poisoning from last night's dinner as I write this. Avoid at all costs! Our awful experience began the minute we walked in the door. My husband and I took my parents out for my mother's birthday. We have eaten here many times before and it was our go-to Outback location for many years. We walked into the nearly empty restaurant on a quiet Tuesday night. We were greeted by a host named Maurice, and I use the word "greeted" lightly. Despite not being at all crowded or busy, he gathered our menus and rushed us off to a cramped table by the bar / kitchen in a huff. He didn't even say hello or speak to us at all. Things only got worse when I politely asked him if we could sit at one of the larger empty tables along the far wall. I explained it was my Mom's birthday, and that all four of us wouldn't fit in the booth he gave us- he ignored me, rolled his eyes and threw our menus on the new booths table. I had a bad feeling about this but sat down anyway, placing my Betsey Johnson purse onto the booth next to me in a puddle of BBQ or steak sauce. I didn't want to make waves, but was truly disgusted by how filthy our booth was. The wait staff was casually eating a meal and joking around at a large round table behind us near the kitchen. I got up to look for a cleaner booth in our section and one of the waitresses started to follow me, food still in her mouth. "What are you doing?" She asked with an attitude that totally caught me off guard. I explained about my purse and our filthy booth and she said we couldn't move, despite there being five empty tables in our section. She then showed me an even smaller booth and I said it was ok, that we'll stay where we were. I honestly just wanted her to leave at that point as she was beyond rude and upsetting. "Whatever," she said and went back to her food in a huff. I walked to the front of the restaurant to get air and my husband followed. We were then met with the worst part of this place, second only to whoever cooked my steak- the manager named Felicia. And according to the other Yelp reviews, she has quite a horrible reputation. My husband asked to speak with the manager and she kept saying "what do you want?" This woman was not in uniform and was asleep with her head on a table, so we had no idea she of all people was in fact the manager. She gave us such a horrible attitude, even defended the rude host, and actually mocked me for wanting to switch tables. "You're ruining your mother's birthday," she yelled. "You're never going to be happy. You a handful." I should have left. I was overly polite and was still treated this way. Still I sat down. I felt humiliated. I ordered and we ate. We had three Victoria filets and one NY strip. The food was cold and my dad's crab cake appetizer smelled fishy and foul. Our waitresses hardly came around despite there being only one other party in her section. When I turned to look for her, the waitstaff were busy playing the Mannequin Challenge and recording it on their cell phones. The bathroom was filthy as well. Fast forward to later that night- shakes, chills, throwing up. I was not sick when I went in to Outback last night but became violently ill after we got home. My doctor said food poisoning. I turned to my husband and said "I knew it." Did they mess with my food on purpose? I can't prove it but I do believe they did. They were spiteful and combative and have contempt for their patrons. So yeah, I think they messed with my food. I had a bad feeling from start to finish about this place and the awful staff and I was right. We should have left. There was a couple who came in shortly after us which we could tell were regulars because they received such outstanding greetings from most of the staff. Our waitress/bartender was a little somber. I was not impressed with her greeting towards my husband and I. We ordered the Tassie Chicken Bites for the appetizer. It was supposed to come smothered in a buffalo sauce and we asked for the blue cheese on the side. Both sauces came on the side. However, what should have been buffalo sauce was NOT. It was some weird Honey mustard with relish type of sauce. It was disgusting. When she came back with the check we mentioned to her that the sauce we got was disgusting and I don't think it was buffalo sauce. She had to look in the menu to confirm that it was supposed to come with buffalo sauce. Then all she said was "You're right. I don't know what sauce they gave you." And then she just stood there waiting to collect the payment. She didn't bother to check with the chef to see what the sauce was that he gave us and she didn't offer to send us home with a new order or even take the one we had off of our bill. Why is outback so expensive??? I don't get it... I have never sat in to eat at this location so I can only speak on behave of the take out. It sucks!! The food looks like its thrown in the take out box and they barely give you fries. I do enjoy the sweet potato fries but if Im paying 15 bucks for a piece of chicken with french fries the least they can do is make it look appetizing. The service is non-existent, despite being half empty, the wait for a drink was ridiculous . the coconut shrimps were overcook and almost burnt. they forgot one order completely, and when lunch came we ordered sangria, we were done eating an it never showed, so just cancel the drink. forget the endless shrimp, the never come back to your table to ask if you want more. This is my go-to Outback, when I need my 6 oz. sirloin cooked medium-rare with a side of string beans. Always love it when they have the $14.99 special with the lobster tail included, which I frequent way too much for my own good. I love that it's located in Bay Terrace, parking is always available. The wait can be a bit long on weekends, so make sure you leave one person of your party with the buzzer at the restaurant (my dad always ends up waiting for us). The rest of your party (my mom and I) can probably shop around the mall for a bit, that's how we kill our time. You can pass on their blooming onion, it's way overrated and over-seasoned. Generally, their sides are pretty good and the servers are happy to change anything in your order. The service is generally friendly and food quality is consistently good, so we always come here and know we'll be getting both. If you plan to bring coupons, make sure you tell your waiter upfront what coupons you're using, so you're not fighting the bill later. Oh, and don't forget their bread, it is really amazing. We always order seconds (or thirds!). TIP: you are max allowed a loaf of bread per person in your party. read more

I've lived in bayside all my life, and have been going to this specific location since I was a kid. I just can't help but notice that the service (especially the hostess) has PLUMMETED. If you're going to hold a position where you greet guests, don't give an attitude. She asked me what the party name was under, and I told her the name and she said "we don't have that." And I go are you sure? And she's like "oh yeah we actually do" and I was like ok does it have the right number of people for our party? And she says "we actually have a lot of people in front of you right now". I wasn't asking how long the wait was, I've worked in the service industry I know that's an annoying question, I was simply asking if she could verify the party number. Delicious food! Filet and lobster is my favorite meal at Outback. Added on an extra lobster tail because they are the best lobster tails hands down! Can't forget to finish it off with a chocolate thunder from down under. Yum!!!! No other chain restaurant provides such great quality food for a reasonable price. I don't expect too much from chains but the steaks are flavored well and they are cooked as ordered, unlike many other chains where I find steaks are overcooked. There is also a good variety of cuts. Some things to mention: The blooming onion is fun. The loaf of pumpernickel bread served at the beginning of our meal was warm and fluffy :). The top layer of the clam chowder we ordered was congealed which was unfortunate. Overall, the food was decent. Our server today was on top of things. I noticed that other servers waiting on tables around us were also very good - attentive and quick! Another thing I noticed was that there seemed to be a lot of regulars, which is always a good thing. The restaurant felt dirty - this needs work. read more

I like this location a tad better than others -- I've come for dinner, and the wait time can be long. Anywhere from 45- 1 hour. They have a small, limited seating area. Because dinner time is prime time, the noise level can be loud, but not in an obnoxious rowdy way, but very lively. Also the TVs around the bar make people get a bit more boisterous depending what team/sport is playing. My friends and I have always had excellent waiters -- super attentive, friendly, personable, chatty -- people who never forgot about us, checked in for drink refills, containers/bags, etc. Coconut shrimps are delicious -- flakes of coconut, soft breading, hearty shrimps. One of the bartenders was doing a long drum solo on the bar top. The f word was bandied about a few times. I felt I was transported back to the junior high school lunchroom. I ordered a wedge salad, prime rib and mixed vegetables. Not much to screw up right? The wedge salad had a strangely sweet balsamic vinegar drizzled generously over the top. I've never seen that before and hope never to again. I don't know which was more undercooked, the veggies or the meat. The thickly sliced carrots were tough to cut and I had a steak knife. Okay, I overhear the staff talking that it was 5 tables to a server so I'm guessing they were understaffed which is why they didn't open all the tables up. That's a good thing taking into consideration of us being seated and then having to wait forever for food. Our server whom I forgot her name was friendly and tried to be attentive as possible with all the tables she was juggling. We received our drinks and apps in a timely manner. The blooming onion of course was awesome but that Aussie Fries....yeah, pass on that. My buddy and I ordered the Bone in Rib Eye(medium rare) with the loaded mash and mac and cheese. The good is that there was no gristle but man was it fatty. Medium rare came out more like rare but we were too hungry to have it go back. I guess the other weird thing was the edges of the steak seemed rare but the middle was closer to medium rare....shouldn't it be the other way around? Not much seasoning either on the steak besides pepper, ask for that A1 because you'll need it. Okay the sides...pass on that loaded mash. I can say it was a joke as the mash was dry, a ice cream scooper was used to plate it and the loaded stuff was just a bit out sour cream, cheese and bacon on top. I am so pleased with the service I received tonight. I ordered 3 meals and 2 apps. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The apps were delicious. I had my meal delivered and when the food arrived it was still hot enough that it didn't need to be warmed. Also, they made good on giving me my credit for a prev. Meal that was not so good. The employees at this location are truly dedicated to providing a great dining experience, even if it's not in person. The team deserves to be recognized for a job well done. I had never gone to one these before because I prefer to patronize the smaller indie restaurants but friends wanted to meet here because of their kids. It will also be the last time I patronize this place. The food and service was atrocious. The waitress was quite rude and got upset when we asked for utensils to eat our appetizers. She brought the appetizer and forgot to bring utensils. I asked her very politely if she could please bring us some utensils. She didn't return until about 5 min later and said sorry, she was busy with the other tables. The appetizer was cold by then. The chicken as part of the main was literally like chewing rubber and extremely salty. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. The food tasted good... but the serving sizes were tiny, and the service was terribly slow. It was early on a Wednesday evening... not even busy. The waitress apologized for the "initial" wait because she admitted to having forgotten about us. WOW. You would think that this would cause her to up her game for the remainder of our service - NOPE. Had to ask a couple times for bread. Had to ask twice for drink for kids. Later, the manager came around and asked if everything was okay... we asked for the Check. 20 minutes later I had to go up to the front to beg for the check. The Manager was standing there and didn't even respond, some other person said, no problem... it still took 10 more minutes just to get the check. Terrible. Our tip reflected it. I've gone there before, but had dinner & drinks at the bar and the service was much better. Came to.our table 10 minutes to ask our drink order, waiting a bit to get the drinks. We we're pleasantly surprised with the delivery. The steak was warm and cooked perfectly and delicious. Our baked potato with fresh had all the seasonings on the side. I came with a family of 8. Waited for 90 minutes to watch other people being seated. My family member went to ask what was the delay since we saw another family of 10 walk by us and be seated. The lady who was the supervisor told us that they had reservations. I looked ok the website and there is no reservation required to eat there. After that they told us that it will be another 10 minutes.To top it off the supervisor started to get hostile with my family member. At that point we finally had enough and left the restaurant. I hope that corporate really hire people who can take control of the situation and put the customer first. I really thought that the establishment was unorganized.
