We waited 30 minutes and sat down to a very dirty table. The seats all had food on them, the table was sticky and the floor under the table was very slippery. The server was friendly and took our order promptly. We ordered burgers mine medium well and my wife well. Our order came and both burgers came out burnt. This place used to have a little 'tegrity. Used to be the standard in town for what a steak should be, albeit a chain. The times have changed. Service is bad. Even though bread was offered while taking my drink order, it wasn't served until after my soup was finished. Not to mention I asked again for bread while halfway through my soup. When one goes to a restaurant, they expect a few things. They expect a nice wait staff, understandably priced food, a good meal, and reasonable portion sizes. I'm sad to say that this particular Outback which my friend and I provides none of these things. First things first, the wait staff. Our particular waitress, while performing all of her waitress-ly duties, showed no enthusiasm or signs of enjoyment for her job. As someone who used to work a minimum-wage job, I can fully understand not being the happiest of campers, but still, when you work in a job where you deal with people, you're expected to at least act somewhat happy. Though she accurately took our order, she was very curt, almost cold, with us. Also, something neither negative nor positive yet odd nonetheless - she asked if I wanted more ice in my drink and I said yes, and rather than taking my cup to fill it with ice, she got a new cup, filled it with ice, and put it on the table. I'm not sure if this is standard for Outbacks, or steakhouses in general, but the whole process struck me as very odd. After an admittedly short wait, we received out for food. I ordered the chicken breast, third-of-a-rack of ribs, and sweet potato - I posted a picture of it for reference. As you can see, the portions were laughable. I actually measured and found that my ribs were less than half the size of my coaster, and the chicken smaller than that. This could be overlooked were it not for the fact that these table scraps I was served cost almost sixteen dollars. Even the cost could have been overlooked, but the way the food tasted paired with the ridiculous portion, I probably wouldn't have even paid eight dollars. Likewise, my friend got a steak sandwich of some kind for the same price, and while it was more reasonably sized, the steak itself was unbearably tough, and the bread it was served on was cheeked than an old tire. There is one thing, however, that holds this review back from getting a one star rating, and that thing is the free bread. The bread was phenomenal. They could have just thrown a bucket of slop on the table, and as long as they still gave us the bread, I still wouldn't give the place a one-star review. In short: bad food, high prices, small portions, cold waitstaff, great bread. If you can somehow find a way to get a bunch of free bread without actually having to eat there, go for it. If not, I'd avoid this place like the plague. read more

Yes, I am totally biased due to my love of all things Aussie from my life Down Under. But this place is as American, in my humble opinion, as it gets. Think of it as a TGIFridays with an Australian theme. Aussie chachkis around the place, a kangaroo and alligator, are not really things you would find in the major cities. But the food is the star here. The steaks are seasoned to perfection and the fries are yumtastic! Definitely get them loaded, and be prepared to loosen your belt buckle. Visited this restaurant tonight for a friend's birthday. We had reservations for 6:30 but weren't seated until 6:50. We placed our orders around 7:20. However we didn't receive our food until 8:30. The food we received was visibility cold, the only warm food on our table was two sweet potatoes. If that wasn't bad enough all of the steaks were overcooked, the alfredo noodles were hard and multiple meals came to us missing items. We spoke with the manager who was pleasant, and she offered to have new (hot) food sent to us, this took about an hour. When we got our checks most of them were wrong, and it took an additional 30 mins to get them almost right. My husband & I brought my daughter here to celebrate her 51st birthday last Saturday. She has been battling cancer for four years so she chose the restaurant & ordered her favorite, steak & lobster. We asked for a table instead of a booth, but the only table available was a huge round table for eight. That was the first sign that the evening might not end well. The bread & loaded fries appetizer were fine, however the bread dishes appeared spotty, so I asked for clean ones. My prime rib was delicious; my husbands steak was great, but the lobster tasted funny, so was not eaten. The food was excellent; I even purchased a gift card for a friend to experience this dining experience! I think it took too long for our entree & the manager never came to our table! The floors were very slick no traction at all especially with wet shoes. The booths are the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in and had to awkwardly shift about the entire evening.I do not recommend if you are over weight. Forget trying to push yourself up with your feet either because again traction none. The prices were a bit high given its a chain store. The redeeming qualities were the food was pretty good as well proportions were acceptable, maybe could have given me more fries with my sandwich though and the staff all seemed friendly. Always have a great meal here! I think the waitress' name was Elise, I should have paid more attention. She was training another girl, excellent service, as always. We were there with our sons, had a great time for my husbands 65th birthday. The only thing I personally would like to see, is smaller portions for the 60 plus group. This has become a Christmas Eve tradition for my family. They are open until 8 and not too busy, but not dead either. They always serve fresh bread, very good salads (get the house vinagarette), and my once a year eat steak out in public. I don't eat a lot of read meat so it's nice to have someone else cook it for you. I ordered medium but it was more medium rare...but it was still good, I could have sent it back for additional cooking but didn't....my choice. Our waitress was also so very nice. Now, why they only get three stars when I only had nice things to say: the restrooms. between my sister and I we knew the restrooms were low on soap so we informed someone....and they did nothing about it. On our way out we let the manager know and he seemed like it was no big deal. It is a big deal, no soap when your employees use that restroom and when I cannot wash my hands is a big deal. Salad was made out of head lettuce , was advertised with blue cheese crumbles almonds etc. It came with head lettuce and shedded carrots only . The best way to describe my experience at this restaurant was simply calling it a game of hide and go seek. When I received my steak, it was extremely overdone. I told the waiter, and he said he would get me a new steak. 20 minutes pass... 30 minutes pass... and finally at 40 minutes another steak arrives. The waiter apologized, but I wasn't hungry at that point. He told me to "feed the steak to our dog", but we don't have a dog. Why would he tell us that? I demanded to speak to the manager. For some reason, however, the manager was "unable to be found" bad service. If a customer wants to speak to the manager the manager should come ZOOMING out! Not in this case. It felt as if the manager was playing hide and go seek. No one could find him/her and it really exemplified the bad service at this steakhouse. Salty! I mean WAY salty. Ordered a 10oz ribeye and it was literally the most over-seasoned steak I've ever been served, it was cooked okay, but was somewhat tough (perhaps the seasoning is an attempt to hide inferior quality steaks?). It took about 15 min to get our appetizer (shrimp on the barbie, which was okay) after we got our drinks and another 30 min to get our meals. So the service was really very slow. I understand it's in a new location, but aren't they the same people working as the old location? It shouldn't be that slow if the workers are experienced working for the company. My girlfriend ordered the chicken breast and it was also overly salty and more concerning had portions that weren't cooked completely. I somewhat expected my steak to be salty as I find most chain restaurants over-season, but this was really inexcusably salty. I didn't send it back as we didn't really want to invest any more time there. The manager did take the app off of our bill and discounted our meal 10 percent without us asking, because of the slow service...which is a good sign at least and our waitress was good given the circumstances. We almost always avoid chain restaurants, but got a gift card so decided to give it a shot. It really only reconfirmed the reasons why we eat at locally owned places almost exclusively...and living in the Youngstown area fortunately there are many very good local places to eat! read more
