A favorite for me! First time eating at this location. Service was great. We sat in the bar area (but in a booth). Our food came out fresh and fast. The place was pretty crowded for a Monday night. We had some trouble parking and parked next door at the CVS. I recommend getting the honey butter for your bread. We usually go during happy hour, they have great prices on drinks and appetizers! Food has always been really good and consistent. The pasta dishes are limited & I'm disappointed that they got rid of their yummy Cyclone Pasta! Great place for steak, and the Bloomin' Onion is a must-have appetizer. Delicious desserts. The last time I went, they forgot to put in our order and we waited for almost an hour. 7/19/2011 - DINNER When I am traveling on business, I find the Outback to be a reliable place for dinner. Usually eat at the bar. The bar tenders are friendly and attentive. Ordered the 8 oz fillet, broccoli, wedge salad and sauteed mushrooms. All very good. Steak ordered medium rare and it came in medium. It was tender, but on the dry side and not seared the way I would prefer it. Martini was good. Steamed broccoli prepared well and mushrooms nicely seasoned. I would return. Notwithstanding our love of steak, very few of us can budget Morton's, the Cap Grille, or Ruth's Chris. The steaks I get at outback are excellent and the sides are even better. My wife and I had dinner tonight at Outback--Cortez Road after a long break of going there. We each had steak filet and lobster--it was outstanding. Comparable to Fleming's but cheaper price. We had a small issue regarding an unclear poorly written ad regarding the Blooming Onion. J.B., manager (?), became involved to explain and solved the issue. I suggest he be recognized for outstanding customer service. Michael, the server, should also be recognized for outstanding customer service. First impression was great, the most updated looking outback from the outside that I have been to! The food and service was just as crisp as the exterior. The steaks cooked just how we ordered them and the service was great even though we were seated in the bar area. It just keeps getting worse. Went back once again to Outback because guests staying with us like it. We have been burned the last two times ordering steaks which ended up being as tough as shoe leather, so this time we ordered the Queensland chicken and shrimp. It was spiced so frickin' hot my wife couldn't finish her meal! Waaaaay too much pepper! We should have sent it back....again, but we didn't. For God's sake, it isn't Cajun spiced hot chicken and shrimp! I choked mine down with tears in my eyes because I didn't want to embarrass our European visiting guests with complaining about crappy American food. What the heck is going on with Outback Steakhouse?! Management, are you listening at all? We can't get a decent cooked meal here anymore. Been twice now in the past couple of weeks and can confirm the ribs continue to be awesome! Service good (if a little scripted - both waitresses have now complimented our menu choices - good choice...very good....). Got there in time to be seated immediately but does get busy later. Blooming onion lovely but huge and a lot saltier than i remembered from years ago - maybe my changing taste. Salad instead of fries a little on the small side...but hubbie had small steak and said it was great - as were the fries. And man - how 'bout them ribs? Can't be beaten. This used to be my 'good to go' place, close to home and always the best food. The quality of the food is far less, to the point of calling it poor! The steaks are always cooked perfect, but everything else is not fairing well at all! The salad is smaller and not fresh, the melted butter for the lobster was obviously waiting for the lobster to cook and was turning back to room temp. The manager doesn't feel the need to come by and say Hello, as they always did before, a nice pleasantry! The stuffed mushrooms were absolutely unrecognizable, looked like playdough on mushroom caps and tasted terrible as they looked. I would be very careful eating at this outback. I am a former employee. The restaurant is infested with German cockroaches. I have witnessed them crawling on plates, and the plates were not washed after the roaches were crawling on them. I am contacting the Manatee County Health department in the morning. When I was closing each night I watched seven to ten roaches scatter each night I closed. Managers have had to comp meals for guests in the past two months, because customers saw roaches! read more

The hardest part of writing this review is that the food was actually really good. My wife, my son and I had dinner here in May of 2017. We just moved to the area and we're looking for a good place to eat. My issue is with the service we received. I ordered a few drinks and asked for them to go easy on the ice. They ignored my request. At almost $10 a drink, this really bothered me. When the check came, I paid in cash. I did not receive my exact change (guess they figured they'd get the change towards their tip). After we left, I decided to fill out their survey on the receipt. To my surprise Nick (the manager/owner) actually called me the following day apologizing for my experience. He stated that he was sending my wife and I a gift card/coupons for our next visit. He wanted to make things right for us, which I greatly appreciated. Well, it's now almost a month later and I have not received anything. Don't hold your breath for this place. 2 different times my family has eaten here 2 bad experiences. Tonight was the worst. 1st complaint is the ribs i ordered were completly burnt to a crisp and dry. 2nd complaint blooming onion was soggy and unmanageable. 3would be my 3yr old refused to eat his mac n cheese . Thinking he was being picky my wife tried it and had no flavor what so ever calling it bland would be an understatement . My mom ordered the same type of meal as everyone else but was never asked the choice.So when everyone got there salad my mom had nothing my mom asked and they said she ordered a potato instead so she said that was ok .Then guess what, they forgot her meal! Dirty plates is not ok!!! We ordered steaks and they arrived in rather small plates leaving our meal messing over the edges. When we asked about it, we were told they had run out of the larger steak plates. My husband's steak was not cooked to order. We had to return it for another, leaving him the only one eating because my son and I had finished our meal by the time his steak arrived. When I arrived they told me the wait time would be less than 15 minutes. 45 minutes later I asked the hostess what was going on and she was clueless. Asked for a manager and was seated immediately. After being seated, we waited over 10 minutes before finally flagging down a hostess to ask for a server to at least bring us beverages. The server arrived and explained that they could provide a soda for me, but the coffee maker was broken, so my husband ordered something else. This prompted a visit from the manager, who then comped us a Bloomin' Onion (something we had planned on ordering anyway). It arrived slightly undercooked and overly-greasy, to the point that we ate much less of it than we would have, had it been prepared properly. Apparently the coffee-maker was fixed at some point, as coffee was delivered to my husband, which he commented that maybe they should keep working on it, as the coffee was extremely acid-tasting. My upgrade Bleu Cheese Wedge Salad arrived with a horrible vinagrette sprinkled on it in addition to the Bleu Cheese -- this was not mentioned at all in the description. How can one ask for something unappealing to be left off when you entirely do not expect it to be added in the first place? In my experience, people who like Bleu Cheese dressing (or other creamy dressings) do not like vinagrette, and vice versa, and especially not on the same salad together! The steaks we ordered arrived luke-warm and improperly cooked according to their own guidelines. My partner's side order of mushrooms was actually mushrooms and onions -- again, why don't they say what is actually in the dish? Neither of us could properly enjoy, much less finish, these dishes that we paid extra to have. While there may be stellar restaurants within this chain, I will NOT be returning to this local eatery. Service poor, food poor, cost quite overblown for what we received. I'm copying and posting this review where ever I can to warn away the unwary. read more
