I used to LOVE Outback and would go on a weekly basis for a good well priced steak. After my dinner over The weekend i will never to back. I ordered a steak and a loaded baked potato. The steak came out 60% fat and the rest was overcooked. They were very nice and offered to make another one. Fifteen minutes later after my boyfriend finished with his food they finally brought mine out. There was a HAIR in my baked potato. I told the waitress and she said "gross" and said she'd take it off the bill. Bill comes and she instead charged me for 3 entrees.... very unattentive staff and disappointing. read more

Don't eat here. Salt is the flavor of the restaurant. Also the blooming onion was not in bloom, it was dead and sad. The service was awful, our server didn't know anything about the menu and acted like we were a chore. The food was EVEN WORSE. Everything was COATED in grease. My prime rib sandwich was so soggy and the meat was nonexistent (there was maybe 5 thin, well well well done pieces) and bloomin onion was also so soggy we couldn't even dip it in the sauce without it losing shape. Once seated, service was very good , Server was friendly, efficient. Food was near perfect in preparation. Steaks were perfectly cooked. Extremely poor introduction as very young hostess proclaimed "we only have one server for whole restaurant" "you need to be on the wait list or leave". This included trying to get a drink from the bar while waiting. Manager came from the back and explained a number of large tables opened up and more servers available. We were seated within 5 minutes. But initial introduction was a hostess that said an option was to leave. We very nearly did. Inconsistency between visits, sometimes the service is non existent, sometimes the food is poor, and sometimes both are good but the welcome is enough to turn around and leave. So, yes, it can be a good meal, but a marginal value, and a real guess at what you'll get. read more

Stopped at Outback after a long day of drs appts before I went to my hotel. It was in between lunch and dinner rush and only a handful of customers. Because I was a single diner they didn't know where to seat me and after I was seated I was never waited on. Servers walked past me several times and it was different servers not the same ones and acted as if I wasn't even sitting there. Another party came in right after me and got service right away. After sitting there for at least 10 minutes being ignored I got up and walked out. Went down the street to another steak house and had the best service and food possible. Ordered delivery from here for dinner and it was fantastic. The food came in less than an hour and to my surprise it was still warm and my blooming onion was still crispy!! I was very impressed. They also included the famous bread which was amazing as always. We got a burger and the crispy chicken item. Knocking a star because the price for the size of the chicken was pretty steep. Outback used to be the epitome of consistency and quality. It is so bad now, however. Ate there last night the Kookaburra Wings were great, as always. My burger was on par with Hardee's and was cold and very sorry looking. Not palatable and wish I had taken a picture. The drinks were given generous pours and were enjoyable. Finally, the server or kitchen staff failed to serve us the salad we ordered. We were given an apology and it was taken off of our bill. We won't be returning to outback and I recommend that you steer clear as well. read more

We had Eric as a server and it was an excellent experience! I reserved a table beforehand by calling ahead, we went in and there was a table waiting for us. Eric was prompt with asking for drinks, salad came out before the meal, meal came out only 10-15 min after we ordered. Food was good -- ribs, broccoli, Mac n cheese. Nothing absolutely incredible but the ribs and sauce had a nice flavor (tiny bit dry but nothing terrible). Eric was prompt with refills and requests. Came and gave Outback a try after not going in for years since previous experiences hadn't been great. Today, the restaurant was like a completely different place. The bloomin' onion was perfectly fried and delicious, the price on the 6 ounce sirloin with two sides was a bargain. The real highlight of the visit, and guaranteed our return was our server Tamara. She was the bomb diggidy. I tipped her well. So hence the 3 stars. Service could have been speedier (30 minutes to get any food??) but they more than made up for it by comping the meal AND the desert. Went here on New Years Day and if you're going to be open on holiday I understand it's different, I've served in the industry before, but the atmosphere was uncomfortable. The server Christine was very short and and snippy when dealing with my fiancé and I, dropping of the check before asking if we were finished. Granted I do give her credit as she was dealing with a large party as well as us. A constant crowd up front of eager and uneasy servers was common. A host rarely at the front to greet guests. A phone ringing consistently. It was just unpleasant. We sat with dirty dishes on our table for the entire duration of our meal when there were several employees simply doing nothing. I don't believe I saw a manager roaming at all. The food was good and came out in a timely manner however the atmosphere of the restaurant threw off the meal. read more

We have been dining at this Outback for several years - since it was built, to be exact. It has gone through phases where the service wasn't so hot, but seemed to snap back eventually. Can't say the same for the current state of affairs. This is the 3rd visit in the past 6 - 9 months where the meal was less than enjoyable. And by far the worse. My mouth is sensitive to spices, so I requested that my Prime Rib NOT be highly seasoned. That was apparently a code for CAKE ON THE SPICES. Not only did the excessive spices set my gums to burning, but I had to take it on faith that it was, indeed, MEAT. I could taste NOTHING other than the spices. Ordered mashed potatoes and asparagus with the Prime Rib. The asparagus was inedible and so tough that my steak knife couldn't cut through it. The mashed potatoes were the only edible part of my meal and they were cold. We also had to actively search for our server, as her visits to the table didn't occur otherwise. The cocktails were good, but that wasn't why we spent $100 for a meal that should never have been served in the first place. We run with the "3 strikes and you're out" rule, so we will NOT return. read more

With the exception of our server, Danielle this was by far the worst experience I've ever had at any Outback. I ordered the 10oz ribeye, baked potato and a side of sauteed mushrooms, shouldn't be that difficult to make but...... the first attempt of my meal came out and was as cold as my beer. It took over a hour to have the meal come out, I sent it back and the 2and time the meal to an additional 35 minutes to arrive and again everything was cold. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:15 pm and left without eating a meal at 9:35. So here I sit in my hotel room starving and mad that a chain like Outback can't get anything right! I was eating with my husband and our friends and their meals were subpar as well! I would not recommend this particular location at all and because of this adventure, I personally won't go to another Outback based on this experience! read more

If I'm going to a chain steakhouse, Outback is usually not something I take into consideration, but a couple of friends wanted to come here, and so I found myself at an Outback. There wasn't anything particularly extraordinary, as the bread, appetizers, and steak were all adequate. Service was friendly, but not necessarily exemplary. She attempted to take one of the app plates early when I was still working on it, and was kind of a goofball. It was more endearing and kind of funny than it was a nuisance. Would I come back again? Maybe. But there's also another chain steakhouse down the street that I think I'd rather go to. read more

My wife and I walked into Outback in C'ville yesterday, asked for a booth. They took us to a booth that's right behind the host's station and very near the door, which makes sitting there drafty and uncomfortable. I had noticed many booths open pretty much everywhere I could see, so asked for a different one. The hostess, who had been unwelcoming and unfriendly said this was the only available booth. I wanted to pursue the matter and ask why all the others I could see everywhere weren't available, but my wife, who is not a fan of the customer service at this restaurant (and who was there because I had insisted we go there) turned around and walked out. She was pretty steamed and has vowed never to go there again. Why does this restaurant have such abysmal customer service and such unfriendly staff? First of all, I have had good luck with Outback since my first visit to the store in Asheville, NC when it opened in the early 90s. But this was my first experience with the store in Charlottesville, VA. Went there for dinner last night. The service was great. The food YUK. I ordered the Bloomin' Onion and the Coconut Shrimp. My partner ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Alfredo. The Bloomin' Onion came out to the table and was grossly over cooked, soggy and extremely greasy. There was almost an eighth of an inch of rancid, weeks-old grease on the plate. The Coconut Shrimp were the same, greasy and over fried, in the same old grease. My partners food was fine but I couldn't finish either of the two things I ordered. The grease made me sick and kept me in the toilet all day today. I almost hate to give it a good review, because it might make it harder for me to get my favorite waitress, but I can't really keep them all to myself. What has happened to Outback - it was terrible! Family members had visited the new location a week or so ago and told me that the food was not good, but I insisted that it was a random bad meal. So, we went there yesterday for lunch and, I have to say, the meal was just terrible! I ordered Salmon and when it finally arrived it that was so salty and over seasoned that it was totally inedible! The broccoli was also way too salty. They delivered our meal in shifts - my son-in-law received his steak about 10 min before the remaining 3 people at the table recd their entrees. We had the mushroom appetizers that were way over fried and too greasy to eat. My daughter had the chicken which she said tasted like cardboard - no flavor at all. Oddly enough, no seasoning on hers because they had used it all on my Salmon, I suppose! I could go on and on, but why - While they may have a fancy new location, their food quality has dropped to that of a Waffle House (apolgies to Waffle House!) Also, watch the floor in this new location - it is very slick and if you walk in with wet feet prepare to land in the floor! It was like skating to our table!
