Service was 10/10 (it wasn't super busy but there were some people and the waitress was handling a big table. -The bloomin onion was really good but it originally comes with a certain sauce. I found it too overwhelming so I ordered ranch and it seemed to be the perfect fit with the appetizer. -The Aussie ribs was part of a special and the day that we went the special was ending. I do have to say it was unexpected that the ribs were somewhat fried but they are still really good. It also comes with the same sauce that the Bloomin onion comes with which seemed to be a little overwhelming for me. -The fried chicken was crispy and moist throughout. It also comes with the same sauce that the Bloomin onion comes in and was also part of a special that was ending. My final thoughts: we orders a little too much fried food which was a bad idea. The lack of knowledge of the server was surprising. The use of iceberg lettuce shows lack of desire to provide quality product ( its cheap not good). My Caesar salad dressing was not good, one bite and I was done. The blooming onion was a bit greasy, oil a bit old but ok. I had a fried chicken dish a thin dry breast with a soggy crust. Oh goodness, not good. I made a big mistake with my choice for lunch at the old Outback. My partner on the other hand lucked out!! I chose the loaded French dip sandwich with french fries, and he chose the coconut shrimp with a cup of French onion soup. And I would say that his lunch knocked it out of the park! The French onion soup was perfect. The broth was flavorful and not salty at all, as they can be. And the coconut shrimp was delicious! juicy shrimps, all covered in Coconut and deep fried served with a nice little sweet sauce, to dip them in. My sandwich was terrible. It came plated as a hot mess, and it didn't get any better after that! It just didn't taste good, the meat had no flavor, and some of the onions were burnt and every time I took a bite. It just fell out the sides, so it made it really hard to dip. I would never ever order it again! The service was fantastic. She was fast and friendly and very helpful. As we have finally ventured back into dinning scene, after Covid has subsided, my wife and I have been talking about the "Blooming Onion" for days.....and we're very disappointed. Onion size half of what it used to be, and batter tasted like old grease and pedals dripping in grease! My filet was scorched on the outside, cooked perfectly on the inside, with no flavor! Outback doesn't care anymore. That's what I learned today. Out of the 5 items my party and I ordered today, 1 of them was good. I used to frequent Outback years ago. Honestly, they were excellent. The steaks were juicy and always perfectly cooked, the salads were the best in town, the desserts were enough for a trip on their own. At some point recipes started changing and I stopped going, and tonight I was reminded why. The Good: the lamb was delicious. It was juicy, not quite medium which I prefer but it wasn't my lamb and the person who ordered it found it perfect. It was very well seasoned; each bite attacks your mouth but not in an unpleasant sort of way. The sautéed veggies that came alongside were also cooked well. There was one complaint: $21 for so little lamb doesn't seem right at all. But at least it was delicious. The Bad: The salads were very clearly made with massive hunks of old iceberg lettuce. Some huge pieces of iceberg were brown and limpy. I ordered a cobb salad for my dinner and another person at my table ordered a side house salad. My cobb was basically a big version of a house salad with some egg sprinkled in. I was severely disappointed and ate about 6 or 7 bites and left the rest. The chicken quesadillas were plated poorly, were very bland, and stuffed with mild cheese. No flavor, just disappointment and tears. 1.5 pieces were eaten and the rest was left. (there were about 8-10 pieces of quesadilla) For some reason, it came with honey mustard dipping sauce; those flavors didn't mesh well. What happened to sour cream and pico de gallo? The side steakhouse mac and cheese was a disgrace. When I ordered it the waitress moaned and said it was her favorite thing on the menu. Of course I was excited. And then I saw the plain noodles with black pepper sprinkled on them and a handful of cheese slumped on top. What in the world?? You didn't even try! I felt deceived and so very annoyed. I took three bites (I have no idea why) and left the rest. In summary, 75% of the food we ordered was left on our plates. The waitress didn't say anything about the huge amounts of food we left behind, which bothered me. Clearly we didn't like it. If a customer had barely touched my favorite item on the menu, I would have asked about it. Goodbye, Outback. You're like an old athlete who's lost his snuff but won't retire. read more

Normally I like to post reviews of the great food I've eaten but today because of this experience, I feel it is incumbent upon me to post about the quality of food sent out the door for delivery from the Outback in Hixson. Last night, as a birthday treat to myself, I ordered a bone in ribeye steak - along with fries. Now it's been a really long time since I've eaten at Outback, but I remembered their bone in ribeyes as being mouth watering good, thus I was highly anticipating this one. The steak was cooked as ordered - medium rare- but....much to my disappointment, it was leather tough (as in I had trouble cutting it) and had absolutely no juiciness or flavor whatsoever. The fries were dried up and also without flavor. It was, I must say - the most disappointing birthday dinner I have ever had and a complete waste of money. Perhaps if I had been at the restaurant, the quality would have been better. read more

We called out for delivery and I ordered the prime rib which looks amazing in their menu photo. When our food was delivered and I opened my container it was just a big slab of blubber. Nothing like the picture advertised. Also, the baked potato I ordered was small and the inside looked like it had been under a heat lamp for 2-3 days. I couldn't even pull the potato away from the inside of the skin. Lastly, we ordered the thunder down under dessert for my grandson and we didn't receive it even though we were charged. Every. Single. Time. I. Order. Every Time I've tried to order from this restaurant, they mess it up or don't even give me the right food. I've done curbside carry out the last 4 attempts in hopes that it would be better. Usually my order is very simple. An appetizer. Literally just an appetizer. The person ordering tells me 10-15 minutes depending on the day or time, which is obviously normal. So this time, the lady says 15 minutes. I show up 10 minutes early to make sure I get hot food. Literally 40 minutes later, I find myself still waiting for a dang appetizer. That last time I waited 45 minutes and ended up getting the wrong order. The time before that, I waited 25 minutes to then be told my food had been given to the wrong car and that they'd have to remake it. Each time I end up walking away empty handed. Every single time I call back I get the classic "I'm sorry sir. We're just busy." Or the "would you like me to remake it for you?" This is a terribly ran business. Being former food industry staff, I can understand a couple mix ups on larger orders occasionally. But literally every time, it's on an appetizer order. How hard is it to mess up one item in an order? So, today, like every other experience at this restaurant, I'm leaving empty handed again. And the other food I had picked up for other members in my house ended up being cold by the time I got home. I do not recommend this establishment. Ever. read more

Ordered online for pickup. They outsource their service to grub hub which had the order correctly and charged as such. The kitchen staff left off most of my wife's order which I didn't notice until I got back home which is 25 min away. I called takeout and the team member said sorry you left the restaurant I can't see that we actually did something wrong. I asked so then nothing will be done and the team member said that's right sorry take it up with grub hub which you can't get ahold of anyone. read more

My husband and I went in there for our anniversary dinner since we had not been in a very long time. We made the mistake of sitting in the bar at a table, without being seated by the hostess. There were only two tables occupied in the bar so it was not crowded. The arrogant hostess told us we would have to go back to the front desk and ASK to be seated in that area or go eat at the bar . We are in our mid seventies and I have a bad back so we moved over to the bar instead of walking up to the desk and back. The food was so nasty, of course we will never go back. Sometimes writing reviews on a well known franchise like outback almost seems to be a waste of time but I think the service and food is not always the same so I will focus on that. First it is located in Northgate Mall area right off Hwy 153 so plenty of parking. They open the door for you when you arrive and greet you. I have been here a number of times and the waiter was polite but seemed unhappy and he was kind of short in his speech, like he was uncomfortable talking to real people. There was 3 adults, two toddlers and one munchin - so three kidlets in all. They were very accommodating and got us high chairs as needed. We ordered cheese fries, which in my opinion is the best in the industry, but not healthy ;-). They had draught beer but limited selection. I had Fosters and they (adults) had Blue Moon... tall ones. My daughter and I ordered clam chowder soup, which made me very happy because years ago they stopped serving it and apparently it is back on the menu... if you like clam chowder (white creamy kind), you will love it here. However our soup was almost cold so the waiter took it back and the manager brought out two hot bowls and was apologetic so all is good. The place is clean and is what you would expect from an Outback, same pretty much everywhere. I guess I will give it a 4 because of the cheese fries, beer and the fact it is pretty consistent wherever I go ... if they had Roger Alan Wade playing or slot machines, I would have given it a 5!!! ... read more

I have eaten occasionally at this location for a number of years. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not deliver the service or food in a way that it's reputation was originally established. This establishment is dark and very unappealing for someone that is looking for an upbeat and inviting restaurant. The quantity of food that is served is small and the quality is inconsistent. The servers are always different people when I have been there. I have never been able to establish a rapport with the employees more than on a one time visit. It is disappointing that a huge chain like Outback Steakhouse seems to be going downhill with each of my visits. I will not be choosing this restaurant as a place to go to enjoy my food and to feel like I am having the greatest dining experience. Outback needs to make a commitment to improve their food quality, service and create an upbeat atmosphere in this competitive restaurant industry before they can expect to grow their business in the future. This place smells like a dirty old restaurant. Looks like they updated the outside a bit, but the inside is pretty gross. Glad to see the fried mushrooms back on the menu; they're awesome. Caesar salad was nasty, didn't eat it. Outback Special steak is still a good piece of meat, especially with the sautéed mushrooms. I accidentally placed my curbside order to be ready at 8pm instead of 7pm due to crossing a time zone on my way back from Nashville when the order was placed. The manager and the girl running curbside were so amazing and nice. They had my order ready with everything perfect in 10 minutes despite the mix up being completely my fault. The manager even offered me a to-go drink! Could not be more grateful for their help after a long terrible day and what could have finished badly, ended up being good thanks to their top notch service. read more
