We made reservations at the Embassy Suite hotel because they had a Ruth's on the premises and it was on our way to our destination.Our reservations were made days in advance(7:30 Sunday 7/26) upon arriving at 7:25 we were informed that they would be CLOSING AT 8pm!! They had our phone number and I felt that they should have had the courtesy of calling us to inform us that we would be having to order very soon so the kitchen was closing. When I go out to a higher level restaurant like this, I certainly don't want to be rushed. Now to the food. I'm from New Orleans and have been going to Ruth's when they had one location on Broad St, where service and food was impeccable. I guess with any restaurant, expansion kills all of that! The filet was average at best, came undercooked, the lobster tail had obviously been sitting in the freezer for God knows how long. $100 for a terrible lobster tail and average cut of filet. Unbelievable how far Ruth's has fallen. We enjoy going to Ruth's Chris ordering the Ruth's classic dinner. It is a complete meal starting with your choice of salad or soup, choice of selected entree, your choice of selected sides and a chef's mini dessert (we usually upgrade). The service is always spot on and they're attentive. We prefer booths but the tables are always a decent size, too. The blue cheese dressing is to die for, at least in my opinion. read more

This is was my first time trying Ruth's Chris so I was excited to finally see what the fuss is about. Unfortunately, I needed to get it to go so I went to place my orders. The bartender acknowledged me but he had other customers at bar. He did offer the menu and glass of water while I decided what I what wanted. After I placed my order, it was like I was invisible, no refill of water, no small talk nothing. I waited 25 mins but still didn't get refill when the other patrons didn't have to ask for refills. I finally got my food and it was a half hearted Thanks and even though I passed by 2 other servers they didn't wish me a good night. When I got home my chili sauce for the calamari was missing. I must say the food was great as I also had stuffed chicken, but the customer service, downed the chicken experience. Seems like a fast food to me. Good staff, but management has them trained to associate color of a steak with temperature. I opted for the bass as a result. I ate most of it. Bad culture and poor management has created a culture where "secret shoppers" are important, vs the consumer. Certainly not a steakhouse. I haven't been to Ruth's Chris in a long time, and the quality of food is terrible. It was shocking to find the beef tasteless. Yes, it had lots of spices/seasoning, but flavor of beef is not one of them. I agree with the review that said it "seems like fast food to me." Definitely chain restaurant quality. The onion rings were the worst tasting I have ever eaten. Not only was the coating a weird taste, the onions inside were flavorless. They do look pretty on the plate, big and thick, but both my husband and I left them uneaten. Most shocking is the price. For what we paid, we could have bought a week's worth of groceries, including prime steaks, and cooked them at home with lots of sides and had leftovers. With competition so fierce, I predict it's just a matter of time before this chain bites the dust. read more

He had a very engaging personality. We were pleased with the ambiance, including the more formal table setting. November 25, 2025 The Vibe: Upscale, friendly and decorated beautifully for Christmas. The hostesses were delightful. I was pleasantly surprised when they asked us if we were celebrating anything special. Yes indeed, our 30th anniversary. The hostess escorted us to our table and informed us that Valerie (or Violet) would be our server. I'm sorry I can't remember her name. Another lovely young lady came by to sprinkle little metallic hearts on our table for our celebration along with the wine list. Nice touch. The Appetizer: We shared the Veal Osso Buco Ravioli, absolutely excellent! The ravioli was thin and tender, the sauce was savory and flavorful. The Food: I ordered the Prix Fixe dinner of a Ceasar Salad, 6 oz filet mignon prepared medium with a lobster tail and creamed spinach for a side. This also came with a chocolate mousse for dessert. Sadly, the Ceasar Salad left much to be desired. The dressing was thin and weak, no anchovy flavor, no garlic zing and they put grape tomatoes on the plate! Tomatoes have no business being in, on or near a Ceasar Salad. The creamed spinach was no better than a frozen creamed spinach from the grocery store. My steak was prepared as requested, but really was no big deal. Same with the lobster (didn't get any clarified butter for my tail). My Husband's Food: He ordered the lamb chops prepared medium with lyonnaise potatoes and roasted asparagus. Menu said "with mint" but they were out. He received four medium sized chops, two were medium rare (not what he requested). The potatoes reminded us of home fries from any diner USA. The asparagus came with hollandaise sauce on the side. The asparagus was roasted perfectly, sadly, the hollandaise sauce ruined it. The sauce was thin and flavorful. The Servers: Very friendly, polite and attentive without being overbearing. Extremely high marks for this. When my steak and lobster was brought out, the server asked if he could remove the tail from the shell. A great big yes to that! I was waiting for him to feed me next. We ended up taking home the sides for our dogs and the two underdone lamb chops for a late-night snack. A different server packed them up for us right at the table taking great care by using utensils to handle the food in a professional manner. Another nice touch. Overall: We came here to be "wowed" by the reputation of the food, however, considering the price we paid for our meals, we were less than impressed. This was our first visit to any Ruth Chris Steakhouse. From the moment we entered we felt attended to and welcomed. Our server, Alysea was amazing. She was Warm, attentive but not intrusive. Excellent service and menu knowledge. The food could have been just adequate and we would come again just for her hospitality. However, the food wasn't just adequate, it was incredible and delicious. The last three times we have eaten there the steaks were cooked incorrectly. With the artificially inflated prices there are many better restaurants to choose from. With "steak" in their name you'd think they'd do better. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing! I saw that they were participating in the Chattanooga burger week (our first time to Chattanooga). I called the restaurant and asked specifically if there were any restrictions, and was told no. So, after I informed my family, I made reservations for 7:30pm (automated, no live person). We arrived and had to wait several minutes prior to someone coming out to see us. In the meantime, I replied to their text that I was leaving (only choice) and that I was here already. We then waited for someone to come out. We said that we would like a booth, and was told that it would be 5 minutes. We were escorted to our seats. The menu was presented and we said that we would like the $8 burger that they were advertising. We were immediately told that it was only for lunch and until 4:30pm, and not in the main dining room. So much for no restrictions! They need to train their staff better; no restrictions mean no restrictions. We wasted 40 minutes that evening, despite calling and asking! I suggest that when you call to ask a question, talk to the manager to get the correct answer to avoid wasting your time! read more

When the bartender comes over to and asks a question and then walks away as you begin to answer, that tells all you need to know. I asked for butter for my lobster (yes I had to ask) it was cool not hot or warm. They didn't light the candles under the butter. She kept saying I CAN get you more over and over. I have been eating here since it opened and have really enjoyed having a true high end steakhouse in the area. If you come dont overlook the stuffed chicken or the sea bass when available. But the real star here is the Ribeye, the bone in ribeye and the filets. Get them medium or medium rare and prepare yourself for one of if not the best steak in Chattanooga. if I could give the restaurant a negative star I would! I have celebrated Christmas dinner @ Ruths Chris as far back as I can remember. This year we dined at the Ruths Chris Chattanooga what a mistake! We had a 5pm reservation and we were seated fairly promptly. We sat for 20 min before anyone came to take your drink order. Once the drink order was taken we sat for another 25 min the waitress came back to take our order, but we still hadn't received our drinks. We place or order and asked where our drinks we and if we could get some bread and water. we are now 45 min in to our reservation. I should have realized what kind of night we were in for when the table diagonal from us left before they got their salads. About 30 minutes later our drinks and salads, bread and water finally show up. We are now an hour and 15 minutes and cocktails took 55 mins to get. We finished our Salads and sat for awhile I finally asked for a manger. The manager was less than helpful. I told him that we had been here coming up on 2 hours and just finished our Salads and that this was the WORST experience that I've ever had and I need to leave we had show tickets to get to. Your manager gave no apologies. He brings me a bill for our salads and our drinks, roughly $80 dollars for wasting 2 hours of my time with my family and ruining our Christmas dinner. I handed him my card and I said hope you're comfortable with what you're charging me and ruining my holiday meal with my family. When he brought my card back I paid the bill and stormed out. Just curious how many other Christmas dinners were ruined because this manager? And if you doubt what I'm saying is true...I have the receipt when my order was put in and when my final bill was charged, and they are both time stamped. read more

The lobster bisque was sadly the worst soup I think I've ever had. It was extremely watered down and just tasted horrible. Luckily the crab cakes were great, a little over cooked on the bottom but still good. They did take the soup off of our bill thankfully. My husband got the stuffed chicken and it was moist and flavorful! I would highly recommend it to others. We got a dessert to finish out the night. It looked amazing but was completely frozen. I literally almost broke the plate trying to get a bite. I decided to bring it home so we wouldn't waste money on a uneaten dessert.... We shall see how it does after it's not frozen solid. If 2 out of the 3 items weren't a fail I'd probably give it another chance however that was not the case. All in all Ruth Chris is not an establishment I'll be returning to sadly. read more

Aside from the exclusivity one may feel by dining at Ruth's Chris, this steakhouse is beyond an eating establishment. Ruth's Chris has been my families "go-to" for over 20 years. We've been to various locations around the country. However, the Chattanooga location was the most disappointing I've ever experienced. From the start the staff was unprofessional in both appearance and conduct. From shouting each others names across the hall to leaning up against the hostess desk while texting. I was shocked. When we were seated (at what felt like a time share presentation) we were distracted by the loud 80's playlist (I love Def Leppard, but this wasn't the place for it). The waitress was disingenuous and rushed our orders. The other serving staff made multiple comments that would've been appropriate if we were at a bar. "Maybe this music makes them act this way" I thought, as I waited for the menu emboldened Ruth's chopped salad to be corrected as it was splatted on the plate with not even half of the ingredients. At this point, I'll spare you by saying the steak was over cooked and gristly too. You guessed it! In summation; corporate... please, please, PLEASE come save this location. The staff needs serious training and the restaurant as a whole could use a facelift. I'd compare this to a wedding banquet . There was steak, potatoes, but overall a very underwhelming experience. When it opened it was really good. The last time I went was a few years back on a Thanksgiving. It was very busy. The ambiance is what you expect from a Ruth Chris. The steak, scallops were really good but the soup...Lobster Bisque was a FaIL. It tasted powdered Don't do that...just pull it. With so many Chef ran experiences downtown I've become Spoiled and this feels rather corporately operated. No pizass...Just doesn't seem "special". Great idea in the 80's but time for a shake down...re-vamp. read more

We had a date night dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Chattanooga (Hamilton Place area) this week. Everything was wonderful, as expected. From having a drink at the bar when we first arrived, to a wonderful meal - all was excellent. It was a quiet atmosphere which we appreciated; it was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was slower than expected, which was fine with us....all very conducive for good conversation. Dang it--the last time i visited Ruth Chris for a special occasion they said they were out of potatoes. This is a steak and potato place. Kitchen manager needs to have potatoes ready at all times. Wouldn't you know I returned for my birthday with a party of four and Lo and behold they were out of potatoes. Again. . Operations needs to make sure that potatoes are always hot and ready for people to order. I was going to leave as this was our second time with the same experience and when you are getting ready to pay $50 a steak it shouldn't even be remotely possible that they don't have potatoes. Waitress saved the day by saying she would try to make it right. I'm betting someone ran to Publix and microwaved two out of the four potatoes ordered. Waitress didn't charge us for the potatoes which was good. Not sure if I will visit again or not. If I bring a guest to a restaurant that serves mainly steak and potatoes they should have steak and potatoes and at this price point management/operations should have this nailed down by now. read more
