The baked sweet potatoes are on the smallish side and I actually thought they have been much larger in the past but I may be thinking of a different restaurant. Tasty though. I haven't been to this steakhouse in years. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted well from the person holding to the door to the manager at the host stand. Our waitress was amazing. She was so attentive and nice. Top to bottom from the front of the house to the support staff they were amazing. Completely over the top exceptional. Truly awful all around from the time we sat down. Opened my menu and it was full of crushed nasty food that fell in my lap. Placed my order and went to the restroom. They had just opened and I was the first one in. Bathroom was dirty, toilet paper on the floor, counters not clean. The men's room was the same per my husband. He said that the urinal would not flush and was full of urine that had to all have been from the day before and that the entire bathroom reeked of urine. We both had salads to start. The lettuce was wilted and the edges were all black. The dressing tasted sour. My husband orderd a rare steak and it was burnt on the exterior. I ordered the Toowoomba Salmon which is supposed to come in a creamy sauce. There was no cream. It was pure oil. My entire meal was drowned in thick, disgusting oil. Just nasty. I hesitated to post this. My husband & I went to Outback, Montgomery Rd. On Feb 1st. Our food was fine & so was the service. However, when we went to pay, the manager (?) came over & "assisted" us with the charge machine since we had been charged for our meal plus the table behind us (6 people) meals as well. He said they would take it off our bill. We never got any receipts. It was never taken off our credit card. I have called many times & emailed about it. I am totally ignored. How do I reconcile this? The only thing great about the dinner was there was not a wait. From the time we sat down the server was overwhelmed. Understanding we ordered an appetizer and drinks so she could catch up. We have a kid with an allergy so we told her what allergies he had and asked for an allergy menu but was given the gluten free menu despite having peanut, tree nut and shellfish allergies. We then asked for manager so we could explain his allergies before ordering the food so he could avoid shellfish cross contamination on the grill. After about 30 minutes, we were finally able to order our meal, and asked for drink refills. The server took another 30 minutes to bring refills. Finally at about an hour and 30 minutes the food came out from the food runner. They had no idea which meal was the one cooked for the allergy. When questioned, She guessed and said this is the one, having no real clue. Do they have any idea how important it is not to just guess about what could be an allergic reaction? So we asked for the manager and he came to our table and we explained the situation. We had been here for 1 hour and 30 minutes and it's not even busy on a Saturday evening and you couldn't even bring out hot food. Steaks were overdone, mashed potatoes were cold, broccoli was cold. What a disaster! Disappointed is an understatement. Mediocre food, at best. We dined here this weekend and, while the service was fine, we found the food to be lacking - both in flavor and preparation. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer and it was overcooked. The coconut was dark and the shrimp was tough. My husband ordered the Prime Rib, the rarest piece they had, and I ordered the 6 oz. Filet, medium rare. I subbed a garden salad for the potato option. The garden salad was the best part of my meal. It was fresh, dressed well and tasted good. My steak was over-cooked. Only the very center bite was medium rare. Most of the steak ranged from slightly more than medium or well done. Also, it was unseasoned, flavorless and very tough. My vegetables were also unseasoned and tasted of scorched oil. My husband's Prime Rib tasted pretty good. It was very rare and was tender. He had the same vegetables, so his tasted as mine did. His baked potato was slightly undercooked. I must say I normally to run out to eat at chain restaurants, but I will say this was one of the better meals I have had in a while. Not only that, but our waitress was amazing. Sadly since I didn't pay the bill and I didn't write her name down. I will just say she was great, if she reads these she will know. Both myself and my friend ordered the same meal after getting the cheese fries, We got the salmon with shrimp on top and we both got the rice and sweet potatoes with everything. This was not only yummy on all counts, but was served hot and zero issues. The salmon was perfect and I only had one piece of shrimp that was over done. (a hard feet considering you make the shrimp in the sauce, very easy to overcook). The rice was fluffy and very good. The sweet potato was done throughout and the toppings in just the correct amount, basically a dessert. The cheese fried with the bacon.... oh how I love this. I was telling my friend that I used to order this all the time at another place that used steak fries, but they are no longer around. I could come back here just for the fries, let alone the rest of the meal. I thought about ordering a steak, but was very happy with the salmon. I come here with my mom fairly often. Outback has a lot of different options for any kind of steak/meat lover. I think their prices are great, and the staff at this kenwood one is always very friendly. The steaks are pretty middle of the road in my opinion, as is most of the food. It is worth the price they put on it. Specifically for my steak I felt like it was a tad bit lacking in the seasoning department, and the mashed potatoes were just alright. I feel like their Mac and cheese is pretty good, but the cheese they use doesn't have a ton of interesting flavor. I would love to see them take more risks on their flavor profiles! I grew up going to outback steakhouse with my family for special events: birthday parties, family get together's-- you name it! This restaurant has always held a special place in my heart, but I don't get there as often as I would like. Decorated with an Australian theme, their menu and restaurant has Aussie themed items and decor. It makes for great conversation! If you are looking for a steak and seafood restaurant, this is a great option! This location is located in Kenwood. It is right next to Red Lobster and not too far from Kenwood Towne center. You can easily access this off of the 71 exit of Montgomery Road. I have found that whatever location you are going to, Outback it's pretty crowded - especially on the weekends. We started heading that way around 7 o'clock and checked out the wait time online. It was easily 50 minutes. The great thing is, Outback allows you to call ahead or use their website to place your name on a list. It does not mean that you will be seated as soon as you arrive, but once you get to the restaurant and check in, you will be seated as soon as they can get you in. We have found that once you arrive, you can check out the bar area, as those are first come first serve. They do have options for you to sit at the bar on barstools, but they also have a few booths scattered around the bar. Instead of waiting an additional amount of time once we arrive, we have looked for a place to sit in the bar area. It gets you in a bit faster, and the service is just as good! You can't go to Outback Steakhouse and not get the blooming onion! Totally recommend sharing that with your table! It will fill you up quickly, as you eat the appetizer and bread, but you can't beat their steak and seafood options. I personally am in management so I get we can NOT compromise everyone. We originally called for a party of 10 (NEVER were told they don't "typically" accommodate parties over 8). they are a very small facility so I understand first hand policy and procedures. We get there and are already told we would be split up into two separate booths not even facing each other. Poor planning in that department for sure. Along the middle is a straight booth with tables that could have EASILY accommodated our party. Now even giving them some give...we ended up having 14 people vs 10 and pretty much were told either 4 of you have to sit completely apart from your party OR we can't assist you tonight. Interesting. So we get the booth that is BACK TO BACK (can't even see the other part of our group) and we were separated. We were VERY willing to wait for another area to open up to have our group together. The facility is beautiful. The food was great. Our waitress was darling! But the little smiling overjoyed lady walking around in the blue as well as the front staff Quit frankly suck at their job and obviously need more pointers on planning, preparing and accommodation. Also next time someone calls with a party of ten maybe inform the caller you don't accommodate anything over a party of 8.
