I attended a private event at Outback Steakhouse and it was a very enjoyable experience. First and foremost, the staff was absolutely top notch! Their execution on all things service related was flawless and delivered with enthusiasm and a courteous smile. To be honest, I cannot think of another time when I have experienced this level of service for a large event. They really went out of their way to make us feel like we were an individual and not a small part of the larger group. The food was wonderful as well. The drinks, the apps, and the main courses were all delicious and served hot to the table. Once again, it felt like we were having a normal meal and not a large group. And I want to emphasize how much this matters because any time there is a large event at some location you can nearly bet that the food will be poorly tasting or no longer warm or have some type of issue (mainly from the problems that ultimately arise from serving LOTS of people all at once). But they are pros here and they handled it well. If their "normal" service is anywhere near the level delivered here than anyone is in for a treat when dining here. I can't wait to return for a one-off meal next time I'm in the area. And if you're looking for a place to host an event, give Outback a consideration. Well, after our really bad experience a few weeks ago, we came back to give it another shot and I can tell you that we were pleasantly surprised. We had a good conversation with our waitress and told her about our last experience. This time the food came out very well prepared, salad, soup, the steaks, the sides, etc. I guess we told her what the problems were and she got them all fixed. Woohoo. I had honestly written off Outback years ago. A few months back we went to a Yelp event in Schaumburg and I was surprised by the quality of good and the overall price. Their steaks are honestly quite good and the appetizers are delicious. I cannot give 5 stars, because service issues are not uncommon and the steaks are not aged beef at a fine steakhouse, but the trip is worth the money and the food is quite delicious. read more

I feel like I've either eaten at really good outbacks or really really bad ones . I have to say that the outback in Crystal Lake is one of the good ones . The servers are friendly and the place is clean. They have a decent sized parking lot too. It's a nice place for families to dine . The food is solid at this outback. You know what you are getting ... it's not like it's a 5 Star steak place but it's good . I order the tuna appetizer here and it is also very good . I've ordered it at other outbacks and it's been terrible so I really will only order it here. They have a fun drink selection . I like the Tito's cucumber lemonade drink ! Nice dessert menu too . My husband and I went for dinner the other night. The host greeted us as soon as we opened the doors. Very mice young man. We wanted a seat at the bar which he told us to make our delves at home and directed us. Bartender them immediately greeted us and told us of specials and asked what we would like. Served us a delicious warm loaf of bread! Fast and really friendly. I asked how the bloomin chicken was and he said it was one of his favorites so I ordered it.... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Went to Jameson's in crystal lake tonight for the first time. We had reservations. The place was crowded, but the atmosphere was really nice. You could talk with the people you sat with, with out a problem. The waiter was very attentive. Took our appetizer and drink orders first. We had the calamari with marinara sauce. It was really good had a nice batter that was light. The marinara was thick which I wasn't sure if I would like it at first. I had a new york strip. That I ordered as rare as they would go! If possible slightly mooing. They did it few places when I say I want rare actually give me rare, usually medium. So i was super happy about this. I also greatly appreciated that the kids meal was beyond reasonable The waiter also brought my 6 year olds meal out first which was awesome. Kids some times get antsy. The prices were good for the portions and quality of the meal. We have lots of left overs. I would not necessarily go there for anything but a special occasion or if I was going dutch for dinner with a friend. Which it should be for the price. Called to place a to go order with outback. They informed they would have to ask the manager as it was 905 and they didnt have supplies since a 14 top was coming in. Never asked what I was going to order just they wouldn't have supplies. She came back to the phone and informed me they wouldn't take my order and that they don't have the supplies and they get their truck tomorrow. How do you know since you never asked what I was even ordering? It was the most unprofessional restaurant conversation Ive ever had. To just not take an order! I love Outback Steakhouse. I got 'The Bloomin' Burger'. It was fantastic and the bloom sauce is so good. I also got a side of the sauce to dip my fries in. My dad got the 'Alice Springs Chicken'. I visited this place for a yelp event with a friend who is a yelp elite member. Indeed this was a great experience as I completely enjoyed the food, company and ambience. As this was an even we were served from a predecided menu. It was well organized and defined event. I totally liked the Blooming onions, it was well cooked amd crispy-just right. The staff was courteous and frinedly, they replaces the steak from my platter ( which i do not eat) with a vegeterian substitute. I'm surprised by the reviews for this place. Outback Steakhouse is an Australian themed steakhouse. There are many locations, but I found this one when I was at an overnight. It was near the hotel. The atmosphere is pretty cool. There is a painted flag of Australia near the entrance. There is also the country of Australia that is hung up on the wall. I think this is nice so far! The service was good. The waiter was nice and friendly to me. The staff were kind of slow with my drink, but fast with some other things I needed. OMG! The food is fantastic! I ordered a vanilla milkshake. It was pretty good. It was nice and creamy ice cream with whipped cream and a wafer on top. The Bloomin' Onion appetizer was good. They were smaller onion rings. You can have times where there can be too much bread. Before my steak, I had a baked potato soup. It was really good. There was a good mixture of potatoes in the soup. The highlight of my stay was the entree. It was the filet mignon with lobster. I added fries for the side. The fries were good. They were nice and crispy. The filet mignon was out of this world! It was a very tender and juicy steak! I wanted to choose it because it was a smaller steak, and I wanted the lobster tail. The lobster tail was really good! It was not too chewy and the flavor was really good! All in all, the food is amazing, the service is good, and this place has a great atmosphere. It is really sad that a restaurant as well known as Outback and that is always packed (at least the Crystal Lake location) can have such bland food. I took my girlfriend and her kids out to dinner for her birthday and asked her where she want to go...she says Outback..I'm like, ok..are you sure yo don't want to go to Jamisons? No Outback... I have never had a positive experience at Outback but hey, it was her special day. For one thing, the food seems to be pretty expensive for what you get. Like $24 for side salad, a fillet, and one side. Come on, you can't spare some carrots or something to fill in the plate?? Guess not..meat and potatoes. Anyways, we ordered some drinks, which weren't bad..expensive but tasted good. And a blooming onion...which is probably the best deal on the menu..it's huge! The kids got kids meals and my girlfriend and I got fillet steaks. The kids mac and cheese are penne noodles with some weird cheese sauce on them...not good. Don't recommend. The steaks were extremely bland, even though they had Outback's 17 special spices on them. Really, really bland. I am guessing they were frozen... I love steak, but these were just not good at all. $85 for dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids and 2 alcoholic beverages... over priced if you ask me... but what do I know the place is always packed. Anyways, in Crystal Lake, I would recommend Jamison's steak house over Outback. You might spend a few more dollars but they are well worth it! read more

Well don't blame the help.... don,t ask for a rye whiskey either... and I would never order the fillet lobster combo.... I saw it on the table next to mine.. woo looked good 2 inch chunk of steak medium rare to die for. Not on my plate. Got a flavorful 3/4 inch chunk of fillet and it was over cooked.... if I wasn't afraid of having my meal spit on I would have sent it back. The price was about the same as a better choice restaurant. I will go else where and suggest everyone else who wants a fillet thicker then 3/4 of an inch well done dies the same. P S notes. I just ordered two dinners for delivery for my husband's birthday. We each had lobster tails and beautiful salads. The order came rather quickly and everything was just as delicious and hot as if we were eating in the restaurant. I briefly mentioned when I called that it was for my husband's birthday . While it would have been more fun to go out to lunch or dinner to celebrate, Tania made the delivery feel very special . She had written across the bag "Happy Birthday" in big letters and included a birthday card with a nice note from her and the staff as well as a card for an appetizer on our next visit. I've been going to outback steakhouse since 1999 my most recent visit last weekend was the last time I'll go there. We ordered appetizers to go. The bloomin onion was so over cooked and burned that 75% of it was thrown away. Also ordered cheese fries. Half of those were over cooked and the other half were extremely dry, just horrible. I contacted the manager at Crystal lake three times, sent pictures and I have not gotten a response. I then contacted corporate and still no response. So now I'm writing this review. read more

We waited awhile to get seated and when we were seated, our waiter was not the best, but as I looked around, I saw a young lady waiting on tables in another section who had several tables and she was rocking it. I know it's Mother's Day but there is no excuse for more than 3 hours wait for your food. I placed the order thru DoorDash for pick up and it was accepted and the pick up time is 5:58pm. I arrived at 6:05pm and my order wasn't ready yet so I waited based on the manager's update. Then my DoorDash update again that my order is completed at 6:30pm. So I called DoorDash because I don't have my order even though it said completed on the app. DoorDash have me a $20 credit but it doesn't compensate for more than 3 hours wait so it's 9:30pm my wife and daughter is starving and still I don't have my food. What they are doing is that they are taking delivery order and giving that a priority because they are making good tips for their own delivery employees. It's not fair and the management should do something about this. read more

We go every Saturday night and sit at the bar. Dominick is the best bartender ever. He knows exactly what we want and how we like it. Needless to say the service is superb. My last visit was a nice one. From the greeter to the hosts, waitresses and manager, everyone was very happy and ready to make our experience a pleasurable one. We tried the new steak dip. I can go back and order one of these with a beer. The sirloin was cooked exactly like I requested. The only thing was the shrimp skewer was cold. The peanut butter mousse cake was made for a peanut butter lover. I'm not one, but if you love peanut butter layered with brownie, try it. The gingerbread martini had a hint of ginger. The gingerbread cookie was one of the best I have had. The bloomin blonde ale was light. Similar to a blue moon, without the bite. My favorite was the homefront hero cocktail. Not too sweet. I would prefer this drink in the spring. But hey, I liked it. The new menu rocks. I forgot to mention the steakhouse quesadilla... yum city. So next time I'll get a beer with the dip and quesadillas. (I travel for work a lot and have eaten at a LOT of Outbacks) What makes this a 2 star review is the wait - been here 3 times - always waited at least 45 minutes - again - IT'S OUTBACK...........hate to see if C.L. ever got an Olive Garden....you'd have to camp out starting Thursday for a Sat. night table...... Every time I drive by the location the parking lot is fairly empty. The day of my latest visit was no different. Someone in the office was talking about their special they run, an app, entree and desert for $13 and that made me want to give it a shot. We were greeted with a friendly hello and was seated right away. Our orders taken were taken quickly by service that was a bit young and inexperienced. I asked if i could substitute my fries for another option or if i would be charged for it, and was looked at like I was from another planet. Eventually we got on the same page and it turned out I could substitute. That was nice. I ordered the lobster taco's, and as it turns out, there were two options. 2 tacos or 3. I thought i would be getting the two, but three came out. A sneaky up charge that was not mentioned by our service. When the tacos came out, they come with a "fresh" lime to squeeze over them. My lime was jokingly dry, as well as the lime on my wife's plate. It was pretty funny and made for a laugh. I asked for a new lime, and the waitress came back with one. She watched as I squeezed the new dried out lime with nothing coming out of it. The waitress said "I don't know, they were only cut this morning." This morning??? It was 5pm now. I don't know what ServSafe says, but i'm sure your not suppose to leave cut fruit out for hours uncovered right? All in all, the back of the house is running on point. This is the familiar story of a once great restaurant that gets complacent. I had been going to the Crystal Lake Outback for over 10 years. It used to be the place you were glad to pay extra for just to the an outstanding meal. But nowadays you get cold food and poor service. I ordered the Alice Springs chicken, my wife got the Teriyaki Medallions, plus 2 kids meals. Every single one of these items was delivered cold. The waiter couldn't care less. Even getting water seemed to bother him. But as we left the restaurant I realized what he was really interested in. I order takeout often and the food is always hot and delicious when I get home. I love the ribeye, my mom loves the burger, and who doesn't love Outback pumpernickel bread?! They now have a Wednesday night special, so I thought I'd have a go. For my $20 I got three grilled shrimp, and chicken breast, two lamb chops, some green beans sauteed in oil, and some mashed sweet potatoes. Still not sure how much I liked it. It wasn't bad, but not really anything special. They changed the menu around a bit and cranked up the prices on a couple things so be ready for a few changes. read more
