My boyfriend and I have been wanting to go to outback for quite some time. Date night brought us here. For appetizers we had the bloomin onion and fried Mac and cheese bites. The bloomin onion was very good. My boyfriend said it was better than he remembered it. Mac and cheese bites were fried bites of yummyness. Drinks were good. I had the wallaby darned. It tasted just like a candy peach ring. My boyfriend had the cucumber crush. It was light and refreshing. For entrees, he had Alice Springs chicken and sirloin. He said it was just okay. He ordered his steak medium well. He said it was very chewy and he's never had a steak that chewy before. I had the salmon. It was tasty. Service was okay. Nothing spectacular, but not terrible. The hostess staff needs an overhaul. The dishonesty, the smug attitude... I called up asking for a wait time and was told 5 minutes. When I asked if I should put info on the call ahead list I was told it wasn't necessary. To any normal person that would relay that the place has open tables and there is no problem coming down. I showed up within minutes of that call and was told the wait would be 10-15 minutes. I specifically asked if it would be an honest 10-15 minutes (as the last time I was told this by this restaurant's hostess staff it was 35 minutes before a very nice manager intervened and did the right thing.) I was assured by the young hostess with dark hair it would only be 10-15 minutes. I decided to give them a second chance. After 20 minutes, (yes I timed it) I inquired as to the wait and was told another lie. I asked about a party the same size that came in after us and was sat before us and was told they were in the call ahead list, the same list I was told wasn't necessary. This time I didn't wait for the manager. The demeanor and smug attitude in the hostess' voice was infuriating. Personally I won't reduce myself to cause a scene. I simply said I would be in contact with management, to take my name off the list and that this would be the last time I dealt with this kind of service. A real shame as there was a fundraiser that night just starting for someone battling cancer and I wanted a portion of the dining to go to it. I will make a private donation instead. I understand there is a disconnect with a portion of the younger generation and respect. I try to be patient and understanding. However, the exchange given would have gone a different road years ago. I wish only the best for Holbrook Outback and that they re educate the hostess staff to be transparent and honest while maintaining a respectful manner. They lost a regular customer today. read more

My husband and I are not fans of chain restaurants, except Outback. Every time we visit, our steaks are cooked just the way we like them. We mostly frequent the Holbrook location since we live in Patchogue. The staff is always warm and welcoming. Our waitress was Cathy (for the second time by coincidence ) and she went above and beyond what most waitresses do. We will always ask for her going forward if she's available. The manager came by and asked how everything was going and we told him how pleased we were with his crew from Cathy to the Cooks in the back. We went on a Tuesday night (5:15) to take advantage of the weekly special and there was no waiting time. When we left about 6:30, the place was pretty busy though we noticed still no waiting time like it would be on the weekends. We highly recommend this location! read more

Excellent service is so hard to come by. Kathy our server was sweet and professional. Her knowledge of the menu was outstanding,. She was kind and helpful with the plethora of questions we had over the menu options. I guess I'm considered old school so I really enjoyed Kathy addressing us as Sr. & Miss and ask the ladies at the table what they would like to eat first. The world is changing in a nano second, so enjoying every minute while they still exist. I feel pretty certain that one day a 100 years from now they will take away this option for servers to use such language and assumptions upon fear it will offend someone. The food was also great. My wife and I stopped in for an early dinner. The manager came over and introduced himself as "Angel". He was very hands on. He delivered our bread and salad. When my wife said we were celebrating an early birthday he graciously gave us a free appetizer. He was wonderful. The food is always fresh and delicious. Never visited this location but was anxious to take my grandson here. Upon walking through the doors, we were welcomed by staff and were seated with a high chair for my grandson. The attentive staff came immediately to our table and requested our order. Way too quick for us but welcoming. My wife asked for water and utensils. Well one glass came. We asked again and received but got two more ! No problem. Still no utensils. We ordered initially 2 cocktails and wings. The cocktails were delicious but seem to lack alcohol. The wings were amazing but no utensils or napkins! Asked again and received them. I noticed my grandson was getting excessive sun through the window but could not get anyone to alleviate this issue so we angled his high chair. We then proceeded to place our meal but it seemed either though the waiter having a mask over his mouth, I gather it also blocked his hearing. Upon reviewing our, order he thought we wanted the blooming onions! So we reviewed our entire order to make sure it was correct. Well I ordered the 22 ounce porterhouse steak med-rare. Well it was med- well! So disappointed and so dry ! Even the meat seems different. Part of it was tougher than the other part. Never had this issue before! Had to use condiments to swallow this dried out steak. You might say, request a new one. Well then my wife is done with her meal before I get my replacement and my 11 month grandson would be crying to leave. The mixed vegetables I requested were hard large slices of carrots and squash. Too hard and undercooked to offer to my grandson too! My wife loved her steak since she loves well done like beef jerky with her shrimp. Visited this location to celebrate Father's Day with my family. Our server Chloe was outstanding. All of the dads got gift certificates to return. The staff was all super welcoming and gracious and truly worked together. Everyone from the hostesses to the manager who came to the table to the kitchen runners were phenomenal. well, i gave this place a second chance because the first time was not a very good experience and they did not know I was going there last night, but I did with my same two friends and my mom and everything was absolutely fantastic The food was hot and it was delivered correctly. Pleasantly surprised how good the service and meal was at this Holbrook Outback. Sat at a booth in the bar area and our waiter was also the Bartender. His service went above and beyond, plus the food runner was also engaging and personable. Started off with an extremely spicy margarita that made me sweat..... will probably order the regular one next time. But who doesn't like their $7 cocktail menu with plenty of choices. We asked for a fast service of kids chicken tenders and fries, and they executed that mission well. Plus the quality and food portion size were huge, and both the fries and chicken tenders were delicious. My Wife and I each had 2 different and amazing burgers with spectacular french fries, all properly cooked, toasted buttery buns, the burger juicy and delicious. Worst outback ever! I will keep this short. I ordered a ribeye and received a strip steak. When I told the waiter they sent the manager over who proceeded to argue with me stating that I had a ribeye and she "worked for a butcher" in the past. It doesn't take to much thought to figure out why she's not at the butcher anymore since she can't tell a difference between steaks. Holbrook outback is not as clean as it was a few short years ago. Every single time we get "takeaway" from this place it is absolutely horrible. We usually get filets cooked "medium"..except that no matter what time of day or what day of the week it is, the back of house staff literally can NOT get it right. It is undercooked and inedible 100% of the time. In an attempt to save $50 without having to drive all the way back to the restaurant from Patchogue, I always have to throw them on the stove, which just isn't the same as a grill. What is the f**n point of take out if I have to end up cooking in the end?! So we figured, ok, the filets are pretty thick and can be difficult to tell when they're at the right temp (even tho steaks are literally what they're known for but ok) let's give them another chance and order the sirloins since they're a bit thinner..nope, they can't handle those either. I kept giving this place another shot because on the RARE (no pun intended) chance they get it right, it is good, but the odds are 100 to 1, always pissed off as soon as I cut into it after driving 15 min home. Do I need to bring my bfs Milwaukee razor and cut the damn thing open in the parking lot before I leave?! Nah, I'm done giving this place a chance. TLDR; save ur money and go somewhere that knows how to properly cook a steak to your desired temp. read more

I came here for dinner with my boyfriend and we had Angelique. She only came to the table 3 times the entire time we were there. We were never offered refills or any boxes for our food. Our bill was almost 70 dollars and we didn't receive good service which is upsetting. The guy who brought out our food was amazing he asked how everything looked and if we needed anything else and he brought us extra bread. Had the best experience at the outback located in Holbrook from the minute I walked in was greeted by 2 cheerful professional girls who sat us immediately following a young man served us our bread and water with a smile that made you feel welcome after a 12 hour work day to be greeted so nicely and made you feel special was something I am not used to with many restaurants I attend the food was perfect and the dessert was amazing on top of that the manager came over to greet us and when she found out I had never visited this location dessert was on the house what a great way to end my not so perfect day left feeling full and special I will be making this my go to place read more

Just had my first visit to Outback, I have to say I was very impressed. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful, I spoke with the manager to tell her how delightful her staff was. The service was terrible, we waited 40-45 minutes for our food after ordering. Other parties of the same size who ordered after our group received their food before us. The wait staff forgot if we ordered, we were never offered any refills on our drinks, and they never cleared any of the dirty dishes at our table leaving no room for our actual meals when they did arrive. When paying the check the waiter walked away with our card for over 15 minutes, going into the kitchen for the majority of that time. The food was good but the service ruined the whole experience. It's Outback. They're pretty much the same wherever you go, however I will say this location seems to be very clean and efficient. It's never a really long wait, they seem to move things along well, friendly staff, & good food. Blooming Onion: 4/5, kind of a staple at outback I suppose. But this is always very good. Anything deep fried is hard to dislike but the blooming onion is always delicious and a great shareable app. Only so much of it you can eat because it's quite heavy. Steaks: (Center Cut Sirloin, Filet Mignon, & NY Strip) 5/5, the steaks are always delicious. I'm personally not big on "this cut is much better than that cut" type of stuff but my personal favorites are the Strip, and Center cut. Always cooked perfectly with great flavor & seasoning. The sweet potato is fantastic as well, and so are the garlic mashed. *Recently they've been running the steak with unlimited shrimp so I gave it a try, and personally it's not something I'd recommend. The shrimp was alright..the crispy shrimp was just kind of frozen popcorn shrimp not very fresh, and the garlic seasoned shrimp were the very tiny ones that also just didn't taste all that fresh. The only reason I got it is because it was an extra $4 from the steak I was getting anyway, but even for $4 I'm not sure I'd do it again.* Overall I'd say if you've been to one Outback you've been to them all, BUT I do think this is one of the better locations I've been to.
