I thought that in the past, soon after they launched their restaurant chain, the quality of the food was better then it is now. I love Outback and was a bit unnerved by all the poor reviews. We had traveled 26 miles to eat dinner and hadn't seen all the negative reviews until we were already seated. We started with a Bloomin' Onion. While it wasn't horrible, it was undercooked. The interior petals were barely cooked and the batter was like mush. We ate the outer petals and since we were only going to eat about half anyway, we left the rest. When our server asked how it was, we told her and she summoned the PIC and he promptly took it off our bill. He inquired if we'd like another, but we declined. I then ordered what has become my usual meal; a large Caesar salad and an appetizer order of Coconut Shrimp. These came out promptly and as usual the shrimp were cooked to perfection. I'm unsure why all the negative reviews. Perhaps the cook needs a bit more experience? But on this night, despite the faux pas with the Bloomin' Onion, we enjoyed our food and had great service. read more

My favorite item at Outback is something that's not even listed on the menu: the complimentary soft, dark bread sprinkled with oats served with fresh butter. I coud stuff myself with these tasty carbs and fat all night and leave the restaurant as a happy camper. We ordered the Kookaburra Wings, Coral Reef Crab Dip, Queensland Salad. The wings were great except they were a bit too salty. Instead of the crab dip, I probably should have just saved room for dessert...it wasn't all that good. I was very pleased with the Queensland salad...huge (we split it and it was like having 2 large salads)...magically, it stayed ice cold, crisp and refreshing while I devoured it. They make their own Blue Cheese, too...try it. This was the quietest Outback location I've ever been to....real nice...especially since my son was sleeping when we got there. read more

Been to steakhouses in many states and usually Outback can compete with most for the price. However, tonight was extremely disappointing. The service was friendly but exceptionally slow. The biggest disappointment was the quality of steak (bone-in Ribeye). For a $30 cut of steak, when compared to many other steakhouses, it was excessively fatty. Traditionally, Ribeyes have some marbeling, but I wouldn't expect 25% marbeling or fat and chewy as this sub-prime meat was. Probably won't be going back to this Outback anytime soon. read more

I absolutely love Outback. Compared to all the other chain restaurants they are the most consistent with the quality of food they serve. Yes I did work there for 2 years in my hometown so maybe I am a little biased but hear me out. Coming from a different town it seems different here because we made sure to please the customers to keep them coming back so we would have a job. I worked in restaurants since 16 so I know what goes on and people can get distracted but here it just seems like they come off as "I took your order and refilled your drink once. Tip me." The managers never come out and check on the customers unless there is a problem (which like Nick R. we also have had problems with steak temperatures). It just seems like service here lacks and it starts with the management. The reasons I give it a 4 is because while the food is great (when prepared correctly) the service needs to step up. read more

We visited Outback for our anniversary and it was a solid experience. I tried the filet with Toowoomba sauce which I ended up regretting but the service was friendly and the food was hot. It took a while to receive our check and when we did it the bill was incorrect, not awesome but they were able to rectify the situation. read more

They were packed but they managed to get us all seated (a group of 7 adults and 6 kids) The manager Dmitry was very nice and personally came and apologized for the kids food coming later than our food and gave us a free dessert! I love this outback. Every time I come here I am always treated like a king. I love the food and specials they have here. By far the best cuts of meat in Las Cruces. The drinks are always amazing and the Bar is my favorite place to wet my whistle! One thing that is different here than other restaurants in Las Cruces is that I am always greeted by the management, It's good to know that they take pride in what they do here! Poor service and high prices. With less than a dozen tables occupied, it still took 15 minutes to get a beer--and then it was the wrong brand and the wrong size. Every thing we ordered came wrong, I had to keep asking the hostess for help. The salad lettuce was really wilted indicating that it was either old lettuce or the waiter let it sit with the dressing too long. I really wish I had gone to Uno's. read more

To start off, we never choose to eat here. Only time we do dine in is when a gift card is purchased for us. We usually have a decent experience but last nights visit was just ridiculous all around. We were greeted and seated quickly since they were 10 tables at the most taken. Server took our order promptly and then this is where it took a turn for the worse. I order a Medium steak, which came out more on the Medium rare side but I settled and ate it. My husband ordered a Medium steak with shrimp. His steak came out beyond well done and charcoaled on top. My husband told the server this is not Medium, so she said they will make him a new one. In the meantime, I'm eating my meal and my husband ate his 4 lousy shrimp and Broccoli. The new steak comes out pretty quick, he cut into it and it was rare! The server then explained they will put it back on the grill and it will be right out. No joke, they literally brought him out the same exact steak he cut into instead of cooking a new one to the correct temperature. His steak was then overcooked past Medium and had tons of fat chewy pieces in it. Instead of getting the 9 oz sirloin he ordered he was only able to eat half and still was not to his preference, but he settled for it since I had already finished my meal. So we went out to dinner and didn't even get to enjoy our meal together. The manager did take care of his meal and comped it but it was still a lousy experience. Their cooks need to have better training, especially when the restaurant wasn't even busy. This isn't the first time our steaks have not been cooked to our liking. It's a steakhouse, should be cooked correctly every time. As usual, we wont be back unless we have a gift card. read more

My husband ordered the center-cut steak and was very disappointed. He said it tasted funny, almost chemical-like. He ate roughly half of it and then promptly ran to the restroom and became extremely sick. The server was pleasant and went to fetch a manager. The manager did not rectify the situation. No refund. No free dinner for next time. Nothing. She only stated, "it's too bad you already paid the check" and left it at that. Our father comes to this restaurant regularly with parties of 10 or more, picks up the entire check and always tips very well. However, no customer should have to pay for a dinner that makes them extremely sick. If you have an iron stomach, then this may be the restaurant for you. Otherwise, stay away. If you get sick, you will still be expected to pay for your poison. read more

I like Outback Steakhouse. I really do. The quality of the food and the prices are generally considered fair. But I don't eat there often because they're usually not at the top of my list when I do go out to eat. There's reasons for this. Nevertheless, I always thought the portions were reasonable versus the cost. Maybe since I don't go there often, I missed the corporate redirection. While in Las Cruces, I stopped at this Outback. It was warmly decorated and I have to tell you, after spending almost 10 hours driving I was looking forward to a very delicious meal. I let my eyes take in the ambiance which made my mouth water more (I'm such a feign for mood lighting and deep earth tones). We were able to get a seat fairly quickly despite being fairly crowded. That was probably a early hit, because afterwards was a frequent hit and miss. For starters, I have to say, our Waitress was a total sweetheart. She was as attentive as she could be and a good conversationalist. I guess we didn't look like "Las Crucesians" because her immediate question was where we were from. She asked about California and expressed a sincere interest in coming to the Golden State. I didn't want to ruin it for her so I kept my mouth shut. We ordered the wings and they came out promptly. They were very tasty which isn't really the norm for places that don't do wings by default. I thought of making a note that if I went to Outback again, I'd just get the wings. Then I thought, why go there just for that? Moving on. Prior to the main course, I requested a Caesar salad. Ok, so like uh, a Caesar salad is probably one of the most common salads requested (next to a boring garden salad), but for some un-Godly reason it seems the most difficult to get right. I'm sorry, is there some artistic interpretation to making a Caesar Salad I'm not aware of? Aren't there inert rules that go with making this particular salad? I either get it with lots of dressing and cheese or I get it dry with cheese and lettuce only. Really? There must be an industry wide shortage of Caesar Salad dressing cause it's ticking me off. Not really, but hey, I notice these things! It didn't matter in the end because I was so hungry I didn't want to send it back, so I devoured it. For dinner I ordered the biggest rib eye they had, garlic mashed potatoes and went wild with the broccoli and cheese. My beautiful companion, she ordered the steak tacos - with cheese. While waiting we talked about the drive over and being hungry. We cracked jokes and frowned over the potential incoming rain - and we waited. We complained about work and waited some more. We folded over the napkins and played practiced our field goal kicking over each other's hands - while waiting some more. Every so often our waitress stopped by to check in on us and tell us our meal was coming. At around her third time, I figured she was covering up for something. Our field goal kicking went into overtime while we waited. During our timeouts, I watched other patrons finish their meals and leave - while.we.still.waited. With my patience gone, she walked over and before I could say a word, her face said it all, her patience was gone as well (that internal "tip" clock was in full countdown mode). She frowned and headed back toward the kitchen. She returned a minute later and apologized again. Her face said it all. She was upset. A few minutes later a waiter walked over and handed over the three steak tacos and my rib-eye plate. First, her steak tacos weren't even how she ordered them. To make it worse, they weren't even hot. Lukewarm was more like it. I encouraged her to send them back, but she didn't want to wait any longer. The tacos didn't even look impressive and when I asked her how they were she shook her head. The way she shook her head meant they were a permanent scratch. The ribeye was surprisingly initially flavorful, but like her tacos, it wasn't hot. Just warm. Which meant halfway through it cooled - which made it un-flavorful. My garlic potatoes were garlic in name only. I've tasted more garlic flavor in those bags of 5 minute Betty Crocker potatoes that you add water and nuke them for a few minutes. My "wild side" broccoli and cheese consisted of two broccoli spears covered in cheese. I won't even begin to tell you what that meal cost. We didn't hold the waitress accountable and tipped her like everything was ok, but it wasn't. Too bad, because I really liked the ambiance. read more

My first time going into an Outback Steakhouse, and I was amazed. The service was great, we were welcome in once the doors opened. very friendly staff, our waitress was very attentive and had good knowledge of the menu. You can tell the cooks know what they are doing, my Porterhouse was cooked to perfection. over all a superb experience. This made my trip to Las Cruses much more enjoyable. The place was easy to find and is Wheelchair accessible which is a huge plus in my books. Definitely will go back up and visit. read more

My husband's order came out wrong and Tone quickly fixed it by bringing out a whole new plate in just a few minutes. Just went to outback for a nice dinner on a Sunday night. Was greeted by the manager and led to our seat. Sat there for close to 20 minutes without being greeted by anyone and for that matter no one even acknowledged us. Totally underwhelmed! My friend and I ate at Outback on Tuesday evening at about 8:30 pm. We were sat immediately and then greeted by a manager saying someone would be with us shortly. He also began what would be a continuous theme of up selling, which became very annoying. We ordered two sirloins, one 6 oz and the other 8 oz. Halfway trough the meal, my friend found a hair in her steak. My steak was overcooked and looked like a completely different cut of meat. The manager did not charge us for the hairy steak, which i wouldn't have paid for anyways, but i thought he would at least comp a drink, offer her a free meal or take a percentage off the bill. The service was also poor. Two different servers and the manager referred to us as "me lady" and "the gentleman". Very weird and annoying. It was very slow even though there were only 10-12 customers. The mixed alcoholic drinks were inconsistent. The first very weak and the second too strong to enjoy. The quality of the restaurant has declined over the last two years. This is the third time i've been to the Las Cruces Outback and have been completely dissatisfied. Plus, my steak my have given me food poisoning. We'll see in a few hours!!! read more

I heard Roy, who is one of the managers, being rude to a table...he raised his voice, and the customers, including my table, just sat in disbelief. Then it escalated to the back and I heard Roy yelling at the employees in the back! The rampage went on for 10 minutes until one of the tables got up and walked out...I followed suit as I lost my appetite. Never will I step foot again at this Outback again. We ordered for pickup. My husband ordered steak & lobster and was pleased with it. Me on the other hand.. I ordered cheese fries with regular ranch. They sent southwestern ranch which I don't like so I ate them plain and they were.. underwhelming to say the least. Not a big deal if I was at the restaurant but I paid $10 for those fries as a full sized appetizer and nobody enjoyed them. I also ordered a kids meal for my kids to split with an extra side of Mac and cheese.. it was super spicy. I don't know why they would not specify that their Mac n cheese is spicy especially if I'm ordering it along with a kids meal. Anyway.. they were quick and friendly but possibly too quick in that they made many small mistakes that made the meal less enjoyable. We drove 12 hours today and were so ready to enjoy this food and it was just disappointing for me and the kids. Oh and my husbands house salad (ordered with ranch) also had southwestern ranch and he said it was "weird" and a waste. Definitely don't recommend ordering pick up. read more
