We couldn't get in the Metro Diner for brunch so we walked across the street to Outback. It's been a while since I've eaten here, but I'm glad we did. My girlfriend and I ordered off the lunch menu. She had the coconut shrimp and fries, I chose the chicken tacos with their chicken tortilla soup. The soup was delicious, best I ever had. It was flavorful with plenty of chicken, cheese, and tortilla chips. Very cheesy!! I'd recommend the soup to anyone. My tacos were very good as well. I lived the cabbage like lettuce. It gave them an extra crispy crunch. The kitchen sent them out with fries and I certainly wasn't going to complain. The fries were extra crispy, just the way I like them. Everything was bought to the table hot and freshly prepared. The sweet tea was delicious! We both were pretty full but still wanted to try one of their cocktails. We decided to try the Wallaby Darned. Man was it a great way to end an awesome meal. Our waitress was Destiny. She did a great job tending our table and stopped by often to check on us. Outback on hwy 72 madison is one of our "go-to" places and is Usually excellent. We ate a late lunch there on July 2nd, 2022. Hubby got potato soup and salad which were great as usual. I got my favorite Alice Springs chicken and Cesar salad. The salad was WAY overdressed almost metallic tasting, croutons stale, and the chicken was burnt looking on the outside and appeared shriveled up a bit, even the bacon that was sticking out of the cheese was burnt. The chicken was truly rubbery as if it had been warmed up in the microwave or something and the fries were not even really room temperature. Our server was very nice but very busy with other tables and there was no sign of a manager in the restaurant. Considering the price point of the food, you should not be serving stale, burnt and poor quality rubbery food. This place has remained consistently great for years even thru Covid etc, so I hope this isn't an indication of how it will be going forward. Really disappointing. read more

I had dinner with friends tonight. The food was great; the service was greater! I accidentally dropped my credit card into the seam between the booth bench and the wall. It got stuck there! Our server Kelly tried to get it out by inserting a steak knife but didn't succeed. I was about to give up. She didn't stop there. She got the store manager Shaun over. He took a look and came back with a cordless screwdriver, got down under the bench, loosened the bench from the wall, and Voila! There was my credit card! I'm so thankful for this extraordinary customer service Shaun and his server team demonstrated! They didn't have to. They truly walked the extra mile to make their customers happy! Stopped by a different restaurant but realized I was just there 3 weeks ago. Rolled on down to Outback and am I glad I did! Since I usually start with food, let me start this time with service. What can I say? Raven was the 100% today! She was very attentive! NOT ONCE did she pass by me without saying something..even if she had a large tray of cleared plates from another table. She was personable, accommodating, and knowledgable. Wherever y'all got her from...go back and get more. She is phenomenal. Now to the food. Yep, it was on point! I had the ribs and chicken breast combo with steamed broccoli. I also had a side salad to start. It was all prepared just right. The right amount of seasoning and sauce. Right temperature. Right tenderness. Just RIGHT! Ribs were so tender I didnt have to pick them up the meat just fell from the bones. Whew! This was some good eating tonight!!!!! This place was a disaster on our last visit. Do not recommend. There are plenty of other steakhouses that offer great service to attempt this place again. The below review was sent to corporate over a week ago, so far no response, so it doesn't appear that customer service is ranked very high on Outback's list. So, here's a warning to other customers: My family (party of 7) visited Outback in Madison, AL on Sunday 10/25/20 at 12:30pm for lunch. When we got there, the host seemed to not know exactly how to seat a party of 7. He told us it would be 10 mins and wait outside. Then he called and said 25 mins , I got a text 2 mins later saying the table was ready. I found that interaction odd, but assumed he was very green. The waitress, Sandy I believe, seemed stressed out as soon as she approached us. She was confused with drink orders, and brought the 2 children who ordered off the children's menu adult drinks in glasses vs the kid's cup. I asked for a to go cup for the younger child and she seemed shocked at this request. When she brought out the food. She was passing it out to my son, but it was not his order, so I told her it was incorrect. She argued that w me that it was what he ordered. I found the defensive response strange for a waitress vs double checking the order first. It turned out, the entire order was incorrect. She took it back to the kitchen and told us the reason was she wrote our order on the back of used ticket from the table before us and they prepared the wrong side of the ticket, which was the previous tables full meal. While waiting for the correct order, she brought the to go cup for the child's drink ((30 mins after I requested) but no refills on the drinks or extra bread for the table for the extended wait and hungry kids. It was not ideal, but everyone makes mistakes. It was clear that the waitress was not very good, so we were patient and graceful w the mess up. But, when she delivered the bill, it included our meal PLUS the incorrect order for a total of $180. My mom gave the waitress her card as she brought the bill because we had been there for 2 hours and needed to go. She did not look at the bill and the waitress ran her bank card for $180. We noticed the error when signing the receipt. We told the waitress immediately, she said the manager reversed the charge (but it pended and held the funds for 5 days). We ended up leaving cash w full 20% tip despite the poor/strange service because we didn't want to risk having $300 pending for our lunch at Outback. The waitress apologized as we left. No offer of a reduced ticket/ free item, a manager never stopped by to address the utter disaster of an experience. It was honestly disappointing for such a bad experience w no offer of resolve with the mgt knowing the major faux pas disaster of the server. We are gracious w Covid rules, but this was beyond ridiculous. read more

This location is a poor representation of the Outback brand, do not expect the experience you deserve for the price. They cannot handle surges is orders gracefully, they cannot follow their own allergy menu policies, they cannot call you back as promised, their staff have attitudes and are rude to customers, their steak is tough and under-seasoned, they are stingy with baked potato toppings on to go orders, and they fail to learn from previous mistakes. I would love to be able to update this review as this location was once one of the best in the area, but making the same mistakes and failing to redeem yourself on a subsequent visit deserves to be reported. read more

This Outback has messed up my last two takeout orders. The first order about a week earlier was for a prime rib sandwich. They forgot the bread, the Au ju, and the horseradish. The sandwich was dry. I had to make a trip back to the restaurant from my house in order to get my fixings. The manager threw in a not quite complete slice of carrot cake. It's lower section was missing. Tonight was a complete disaster in trying to order a filet with baked potato and salad. First of all their website kept messing up and faded away while I was trying to check out. I didn't know if my order had gone through or with my gift cards paying for it, so I went to place the order again because I thought the first order had failed. Then I get the message that I had placed two orders, so I tried calling the restaurant to clear up the confusion and they wouldn't answer their phone, and when they did answer, they then hung up. This went on for over 15 minutes. Finally I got one of the staff, a young girl, and when I said I wanted the manager, she talked about how busy they were, then I backed off from talking with the manager at that time, and I was willing to give them another chance, but then after getting off the line, a few minutes later I get a text message saying my dinner was almost ready fifty minutes before the time I had requested. I didn't want my dinner then, but at the time listed on my order and at the time I repeated to the young waitress on the phone, so once again I tried to call back, no one answered the phone again, and when they finally got around to it, they immediately hung back up. After this, I gave up trying to reach them by phone. I waited until the pickup time I had used in placing my order to go pick it up, and when the server came out, I said this time I do want to talk to the manager who did come to car, told me they were having problems with their phones and that they had over 100 people placing take out orders. I told them I didn't want food that had been sitting around for fifty minutes, but repeating that didn't do any good. They had trouble with my new gift card, so the manager chose to just forget about the few dollars that were still needed for payment. I got my dinner home. The bread was stone cold and my filet was room temperature. None of the containers were marked and because of that, I accidentally put some of my blue cheese dressing on my baked potato. My filet had all the grizzle you see in the photograph. I chose the filet over the sirloin with the express intention of avoiding grizzle, so the fact that my steak had this much, I wondered if I had been given a sirloin after all and was getting charged at the filet price. When I finally got around to my salad, it was missing the croutons and bacon bits, so I added some of my own with some of my own blue cheese. This was a miserable experience filled with lots of incompetence. I might have been more forgiving on tonight's order if they hadn't also messed up on my previous sandwich order on that Monday. I still don't know if the new gift card will work, so I have to continue with working on this problem next. I will order one more time after this because of the bonus gift card expiration date, but after that, I don't want to do business with this place for a long, long time. The last time we went to Outback in Gardendale we were disappointed so we thought we'd give this one a try. Disappointed again! Don't think we'll give it another try. The waiter was not friendly. The bread that was served was dry and not the slightest bit wArm. We didn't eat a third of it. My jaw dropped when my hUsband told the waiter it tasted like it was made yesterday. Waiter said he'd get us another -- didn't. Steaks were not great-- overcooked. I ordered the grilled chicken on the "Barbie". Chicken was fine but the BBQ sauce tasted like straight out of the bottle Kraft -- awfu! Thank goodness it was served on the side. Sadly, the Outback has lost its touch. read more

The service was great and our waitress was amazing, however the food was so-so. They were having a special for steak and lobster for $15 and I soon knew why it was so cheap. The steak was tough as shoe leather and the lobster tail was tiny and obviously very frozen beforehand. However, the service was great. Last Saturday I took my friend to the Outback restaurant on Highway 72 in Madison Alabama. She ordered the large ribeye steak medium rare. When the stake came out it was raw. We told the server and he took it back. Instead of getting a new steak cooked properly, all they did is cook that steak some more. It turned out horrible.
