It was a busy night at the Outback Steakhouse which meant a long wait and I hope that our poor experience was the result of this. We ordered three dishes and the calamari starter. Only one of the dishes came as expected - I had a medium rare steak which was fine. The calamari was tough and flavorless but I suppose we should expect that when we live so far from the sea. My daughter had shrimp and steak, with the steak ordered medium rare. The shrimp / garlic butter were great. The steak arrived rare, very rare. My wife ordered the smaller steak, rare. She was presented with a thin piece of meat, at best described is medium and with all that it was grey with no crust. She left about half of it behind. There is something sad about a steakhouse that cannot do a rare steak. In general I would say the service was non-professional. While waiting for a table the serving staff were loudly laughing and joking among themselves. Our server really only spoke with us when he provided the bill. A different server provided the food, ask whether we wanted anything else and then started to walk away before hearing our response. When we did respond it was pretty clear we were interrupting something else that she wanted to do. On the positive side, the system for dealing with the crowd of people was effective. Also, while waiting, a server offered drinks and small snacks. The rest of our experience was at a lower level. I think we'll be driving further for our next steak meal. read more

Unfortunately Outback failed us with their hands free delivery. There's nothing worse than being ready for the dinner you ordered - to only be let down by an incorrect order. We were missing bread- how does that happen. It was clearly on the ticket and should be an automatic- you get it with every meal. We were missing our Aussie Fries and again - there it was on the ticket. I will say the quality of food was acceptable but I was let down by the missing items. We drove 30 minutes for my dads birthday dinner. We got seated and 15-20 minutes later no one had been to our table. Every employee that was working there had walked by the table numerous times, including the person assigned to the table. None acknowledged that we still did not have drinks on our table. We had to go get a host to even get any kind of service after which we decided to just leave cause we had already waited long enough to not even be helped by anyone. At one time this was my favorite restaurant but like a lot of places, the quality of food has gotten worse. The service coming out of the kitchen was horribly slow. The waiter was great (Michael An?) but he could not save the kitchen from its incompetence. The general manager needs to spend more time in back than in front. They have a huge problem in the kitchen. We ordered a blooming onion and when it was delivered to the table, it was obviously burned or recooked. Either way it never should have left the kitchen and delivered to the table. I asked it is was fresh and the person delivering the onion to the table said it was - it wasn't. We sent it back. The food took almost 60 minutes from the time we sat down to the time it was on the table. It was 2:30 in the afternoon when we arrived so this was NOT a rush time of day. The orders were mixed up. One entree had both French fries and a loaded baked potato. The other had plain potato when the loaded potato was ordered. We manually distributed the potato to the right meal. Sent the extra plain baked potato was sent back to the kitchen. Hopefully it was not served to another guest. The order of the food coming to the table was all at once. We order two four coarse meals which should have been staged but the first three coarses arrived within two - three minutes of each other and the food was not hot. We paid our bill tipped the waiter and left with the food in to go boxes. I am given the review 2 stars only because of the waiter. The kitchen gets a zero. I will never go back. read more

This is no longer my favorite restaurant. The hostess (short and small girl like 3.5') does not how to be hostess. She brought us to the left hand side booth at the corner and did not tell any staffs, two tables behind us came in half hour later than us got their food first. We sat there cold no drink no food for long time. When the previous manager Chris was there, staffs were well trained. BTW, when we finally got served, one of our appetizers never showed up and drinks were not refilled. There was long line waiting at the front door but there were bunch empty tables. So I guess they don't care about reservations. What's the point of taking them. We finally got seated at about 6:35ish and it took a few minutes for our server to come by. She was pretty nice. I decided to get a burger since I wasn't all that hungry and after getting sick on lettuce from another place I typically order them plain and it wasn't plain which was t all of a big deal. If there was an option for zero stars I would give it, but one star will have to do. This Outback is in Huntsville, Al. It was my birthday and I wanted a stress-free meal where I was waited on. Our first choice had been Ishiban's but they had just closed, so we drove over to Outback Steakhouse-which was in the same general area. When we arrived, the greeter was less than pleased to see us. Our waiter sat us down and then left us to our own devices. While we waited a family sat down beside us and our waiter paid full attention to this group, clearly they go there weekly. Our waiter took their drink order, their appetizer order, brought bread to the table, spoke to them. My family, was completely ignored. No one spoke to us, no one took our drink order, no one took our appetizer order or made us feel welcome. Quite the opposite actually. The menu was very limited on what you can order and very expensive, but we were going to look past that for a sit down meal. We waited for fifteen minutes watching everyone else around us be served. After that, the kids were starving and complaining and I was starving and frustrated so we got up and left. I told the manager how disappointed we were and how we were never coming back. read more

Let me preface this by explaining that I'm not a fan of Outback's food. I find it to be over-processed and under-seasoned with a very limited menu and just not much to offer at all. With that said, I decided to give them this review because of the excellent service that my Mother and I received. I didn't expect much because it was Mother's Day and they had an almost two hour wait. On holidays such as this, I usually give people a break because I know how stressful it can be. To my surprise, they sat us immediately and went above and beyond to make my mother feel special on her day. They were attentive, kept our drinks full, helped us choose food and repeatedly checked to see if we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying our meal. So...that was disappointing. I had never been to an Outback, so figured I'd give this a shot. I went in for the "lunch combos starting at $6.99" deal. There is one lunch for $6.99, and it was a soup & salad. Whatever. So I ordered the Outback Burger with swiss, mushrooms, and bacon. I proceeded to eat all the bread, plus another half loaf, because my order took 25-30 minutes to bring out. The nice waitress informed me they burned the burger, so they were making a new one. That's fine - things happen. Waiter appeared about 5 minutes later and told me they were going to comp my meal. Very nice of them, I thought. About 5-10 minutes later my burger arrived. If there was any cheese on it, it was barely detectable. I counted two (2) mushrooms - very thinly sliced - and zero bacon. There were also no pickles, as promised. So long story short, I would've given them one star, but the nice wait staff and comped meal got another star outta me. Probably won't go back to Outback anytime soon. read more

The food here is good and reasonably priced. It is also very consistent each time I have visited. The bread is great and the bloomin onion is one of the biggest and baddest appetizers around (be sure to have at least 2 other people on hand to attempt finishing one). I usually go for the outback special and a side salad with a sweet potato, and that fills me up plenty even with the 6 oz. option. The filet is Also very good, but for the price I would only get it on special occasions. My only real problem with this place is that I was treated very poorly on one occasion by one of the managers. If not for this occasion I would give a 4 star review. I forgot my wallet at home, but asked if I could write a check instead. He said he could take the check, but it wasn't preferable (I obviously know this, I'm not a restaurant newbie). The manager was then incredibly rude and told me to write the check, go home, and come back with cash or a card. UNBELIEVABLE! My bill was between $10-$15 so this was pretty insane for him to even suggest such a thing. If I had a huge bill of $50 or $100 then maybe I could understand. I had also been in to this restaurant many times, but of course nobody there would vouch for me to help the situation. Needless to say, I wrote the check for the exact bill amount with no tip, slapped it down and left. I didn't come back for at least a year due to this. We celebrated our 25th Anniversary tonite at Outback on hwy 72 Madison. Our appetizer came out quickly. Our waitress was very attentive. When the manager came by and asked if everything was ok my husband mentioned that it was our anniversary. Three and a half overall. Service four and a half. They had two hostesses seating the church-thirty crowd on Sunday afternoon, and they were keeping up well. I was impressed with our server, Molly H. She took very good care of us, and was pretty as well. The kitchen runner guy also did an especially good job. The manager didn't visit our table, but he was standing in the lobby as we left, apparently having expedited the seating of a larger party. The wife and I split a 9 oz Sirloin, with deviled-Crab-topped Shrimp, and Loaded Baked Potato. We drank Lemonades. The deviled crab was excellent, if memory serves. The rest of the food was very good, altho somewhat mundane. Our total bill was $25.26. The restaurant is kind of classy. The worst part for me today was the music. Good sound system, but I found every song somewhat annoying. I recognized only one song, and I thought it inappropriate. I give today's music genre a two. read more

The Outback Steakhouse in Madison, AL, offers a variety of food from their menu. I like to go on Wednesday's and weekends. The Wednesday special that I always order has a 6 oz. sirloin steak, fries, and a drink for a very reasonable cost. My favorite thing besides the good food...it's always hot. I cannot stand lukewarm food that is brought to the table. They have excellent waiters; Heidi was our waitress the last time we visited. She did an excellent job and was always refilling our tea glasses and checking to make sure we had everything we needed. You can't go wrong with this restaurant. Give it a try! read more

As can be seen by reading other reviews, the service from this place is almost always spot on. When there's a problem with your food, the managers here always do everything and more to make you feel like you've been reembersed. The servers are friendly and prompt (most of the times). The place is kept clean and the decor is pleasant. The food itself is typical of a middle of the road restaurant. The seasoning they use on their steaks helps bring out the flavor, but their base sirloins are somewhat underwhelming, or will be to those who are accustomed to steaks from upper end restaurants. They are sometimes chewy and fatty. The bread has a nice squish to it most of the times but sometimes tastes a few days old. Their cocunut shrimp is truly scrumptious. Their fries, when done well, are delicious as well. However, it seems that the fries more often than not do not taste fresh. You have the best luck getting tasty fresh food from this place on weekends. All in all, this place really would be a 3.5 stars out of 5 in my opinion. It is the stellar customer service that makes this place worth coming to. The actual food is tasty, but definitely not very high quality. The place feels sort of dead in spirit, if that makes any sense. Feels very corporate and very commercialized: the identity of the place right down to its name derives from a cheesy stereotype of Australia. It's worth trying out, but for a restaurant with the word 'steakhouse' in its name you'd expect a more fresh and organic tasting steak. read more
