Avoid dining at this establishment. The food is reheated in one of three large microwaves, and there's a high chance of getting bread that has been touched by unwashed hands. Clean silverware is a rarity, even after supposedly going through the dishwasher, as it often comes out with food residue, straws scattered everywhere, and pieces of large food. Maintaining hygiene is not a priority here, and finding clean plates is a challenge, requiring sifting through a pile. The management is subpar, and despite reporting harassment by co-hosts to the proprietor Kubeai, no action was taken. Attempts to escalate the issue to corporate, including reaching out to the CEO, executive vice presidents, and other high-ranking team members, resulted in no response. A follow-up email led to contact with a corporate Senior Labor and Employment Specialist named Richard Guerra, who exhibited a lack of friendliness and customer service. Inquiring about potential actions to address the problems yielded little assurance. Richard Guerra mentioned calling the owner but conveyed a sense of indifference. The overall impression is that both the owner and corporate are indifferent to the unsanitary conditions and risky environment at this so-called restaurant, demonstrating a lack of concern for their employees' well-being. Furthuremore, they do not have any management members so they are constantly having to pull in managers from other locations. So I for one do not celebrate Father's Day. My relationship with my dad can be defined as quite contentious and so I usually refrain from celebrating the holiday in any which way. However this year I decided to join my girlfriend's family for a celebration and we ventured down to this outback location. Even with all of my own personal resentment for the holiday, I found myself having a pretty good time. After some reflection, I can only conclude it was due to my positive experience dining here. Our server, Billy, did a phenomenal job dealing with our party of 10 and I am hoping that his performance is compensated accordingly. The steaks were cooked to our liking, which can be a difficult thing. The asparagus was young and fresh. It was finally time to go to outback to use a couple of gift cards hubby and I had. We were promptly greeted and seated and got a portion of the complimentary bread and butter. After perusing the menu we decided on coconut shrimp and a platter that had crab cakes, a lobster tail, 2 shrimp skewers and 2 sides. We chose the Caesar salad and French fries as our sides and the Cesar was very yummy and the fries nice and hot. When our coconut shrimp arrived one of them had what looked to be a short curly black hair on it. Possibly from someone's beard? I don't know. The owner did come over to apologize and after it was sent back they made us a new order ( at least I hope they did and didn't just replace the one with hair). The new order was hot and crispy and the shrimp was a good size! Definitely felt like we got our money's worth. We shared the platter(can't remember the name) and the lobster and shrimp were great! And that butter sauce is soo good I could just take a tub of it home and pour it on everything. The crab cakes were just okay, seemed a tad mushy with too much filler but still palatable. Overall, the meal was very enjoyable and we'd definitely go back because this place was never really on our date night radar. I ordered pickup and not only did I have to go inside to tell the staff I had been waiting in the curbside line, but I get this "Mac and cheese" which does not taste like cheese at all. I've been here several times and it has always just been mediocre, service and the food. Service is hit or miss. And we all know that I'm not crazy about chains, but sometimes they are most convenient. I came for Easter Sunday and did the call ahead seating, so I called about 40 minutes in advance for a party of two. When we arrived, we were seated right away. The server was new and a little slow, but there wasn't a rush or anything, so it was fine. I am giving the four stars because this experience was the best one so far. I had the steak and lobster and the steak was phenomenal. I was extremely surprised at how wonderful it was. It was a filet and cooked medium well (don't judge). It melted in my mouth. This was the first time going to this Outback. It was very nice when I walked in, the new design was very cool. The staff at the door were all very friendly. Even though the place had a lot of guest, we only waited 5 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, we started looking over the new menu, but it didn't take long to decide what we wanted. Our server was also very friendly and helpful. We ordered the 3 sampler for an appetizers. It has cheese fries, blooming onion petals, and fried Mac n cheese balls. They were all very good. For the main entree, I ordered the steak and shrimp. Both were cooked perfectly to my liking. Normally when I ask for a medium steak, I get it everything but. However, my steak was a perfect medium. Overall I had a decent meal and I would come back. I did notice the table in front and behind us had some kinds of issues with their meal and one table even waited a long time for their food to come out. We had no such issues. I'm sorry to say that my experience at this restaurant was lackluster at very best. The staff was friendly, but apparently they were closing early because of some Plumbing issues and therefore the service protocol suffered. I ordered a 6 oz filet mignon and was told that they had just run out of them. So I opted for the 8 oz and what I received on my plate look more like a 6 oz. It did not look like the picture on the menu and appeared to have been sliced horizontally in half. I also ordered appetizers. One was the blooming onion. My daughter ordered a salad. We were told that these items were going to come out first and the main entrees came out first. The staff seem as if the awareness that they may close early because of Plumbing issues was a reason to rush things along. I hadn't been to an Outback in some years. From my recollection, things were much better when I had been before. It was a spontaneous decision to go on this particular visit and I felt disappointed after paying the bill. Tonight was our second visit in the last few weeks and both times we were blown away at what a turnaround this location has taken. Our Bloomin Onion was perfect crispy and hot. My wife had Alice Springs Chicken and it was cooked perfectly and very tasty! I had the Prime Rib and it was as good if not better that any served in Charlotte. I've eaton Rime Rib at the Palm, Firebirds, 31 Main etc...And it stands it's ground against any of them. I am gratified that this location has turned around, we will return often! read more

We've been going to this restaurant for 25+ years and until recently was our go to restaurant in Matthews. Last Saturday we ordered takeout, two salads, wings and cheese fries. It was the worst food we have ever had from any restaurant. The salads were so wilted brown lettuce which was thrown out. The fries were old and stale which was thrown on stop of glob of hard cheese no bacon and no bacon. The wings were cold and seemed to be several days old. So. We use to go to Outback before the closures and the idea is help the restaurants during this time so they can survive. Well ordered from DoorDash at 6:30pm on a Friday night.... an hour and a half later (8pm) they still DIDN'T have the food made, the dasher was waiting for the food and when I contacted DoorDash I was told it would be delayed by 101 minutes!! Are you F'n kidding me??? They were slow before but this isn't acceptable- closures or not. The expectations of the restaurant to perform and not just blow people off is slightly higher since were all stuck at home. If you wanna keep People ordering your mediocre food then you should at least fix it and have it ready to be delivered. Either way - it is the last time I will order from this location. The customer service was excellent in this location. Kelly, our waitress was superb ... always had a smile for us throughout the evening. The food was tasty (onion, steak, coconut shrimp, and salmon) and did not disappoint ! Their $7 drink menu was a nice suprise with great choices. Several years ago I would have given this place 4-5 stars probably. This location has been here for a long time and may very well be one of the first Outback Steakhouse's in the area. I've got no major complaints on the menu items. I particularly like their salads mostly because they actually serve them chilled (which every place should do!) I've also had the small steak filet and my favorite is the talapia lump crab meat dish. Also that's the lowest calorie plate on the menu...FYI. My biggest gripe is that over time the servings have become smaller...boo! Also, they hardly ever have drink specials....another boo!
