The food was delicious. The place had great ambiance. The service could be a bit better. I ordered two meals at $50 yet I was charged $60. I didn't get a resolve with that until the following day when $10 was returned to the credit card. The manager had no explanation for that occurrence even when I explained to him what happened. The place has plenty of parking and well suited for families as well as those with disabilities. $25 per person is average per meal. Yet it could be more depending on what you order. This place has been a staple in Mentor for YEARS. But after my visit tonight, I am surprised they are still in business. The food was average at best. I ordered a steak that was very bland, with a side of shrimp that was served on top of a piece of burnt toast. We got there around 6:00pm on a Thursday and the place was half empty. There are WAY better options locally in the area for the same price that I will continue to choose over this place time after time again. (Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse, Brown Barn Tavern, etc.) The server was very nice and made it a tolerable experience. Which is what made this review a three star versus a one star. It's gone downhill so much... first off the prices are way up , I ordered a full rack of ribs and got 9 bones. 9 out of what should have been 12 to 14 for a full rack For 30$ 30$ ? That's almost 10$ more then elsewhere you get a full rack of ribs ! A normal portion is about 20$ With tax maybe 22$ And the meat not fall off the bone ... Had the blooming onion, and the 3 dish meal which came with a soup or salad (I got baked potato soup), an entree (I got the fried shrimp) and side (I got baked potato). The bread was good per usual. Went here back on 12/14/24 as I had some gift cards I won from work. There was one large party of about ten people back by the restrooms who had one waiter dedicated to them and then the front of the room had maybe three other parties-mostly empty. It took 15 minutes to even get greeted by the hostess even though she had run up to the host stand to answer the phone twice. But she would take the orders and then just rush off without even saying anything to us. She was running around like a chicken with a head cut off as though it was a busy Friday. Again, this restaurant was dead, in the middle of the afternoon. It seemed like the to go orders were busier than the restaurant. We were finally greeted and told to wait as they readied tables(?)-most of the tables were already empty so not sure what they had to ready. Once seated it took a further 11 minutes to be greeted by the waitress. I will say, once we were greeted, our waitress was good. The food was okay, nothing special just like my last visit to an Outback. I mostly go for the drinks there anyway. The hostess and the wait time just left a really bad taste in our mouth. The food was really average. The last time I went to outback it was way better and it seems like the company is really downgraded. The service was amazing and I loved it but one problem that I had was that the drink machine is not working and I could not have ice only I can have with sweet tea and lemonade and sweet raspberry lemonade or water with lemon that wasn't that bad but I still was inconvenienced knowing I have children who might want a refreshing soda and when we got the food, the food was a little bit dry and the steak that was supposed to be medium. I came in alone on a packed Saturday night and found a seat at the bar. The bartender (didn't catch her name) was friendly and attentive despite being extremely busy. I ordered a glass of wine and entree and everything came out great, the wine was cold, the food and bread was hot and fresh, can't really ask for more! Dined here Sunday, May 20, 2024. We have not been to Outback Steakhouse since they opened at this location. This was our grandson's birthday. Ordered a Bloomin' Onion appetizer. Sad to say, it is about 75% as big as they used to be. Cooked well and served with the standard sauce. The last time we enjoyed one, we took half of it home. No problem this time. It was gone in a flash! Our dinners were Ribeye steaks for my wife and grandson. Baked potato, mashed potatoes and rice as sides. I ordered the 6 ounce sirloin with a baked sweet potato and rice. If you have read my previous reviews, you know I do not enjoy negative comments. Unfortunately, this time I must. It was all about the meat. The side dishes were well prepared and good eats. However, the three steaks were less than desirable. As a small eater, my wife only ate about a third of her steak. The rest came home in a box. I ate as much of her steak as I could tolerate, along with the rest of her dinner the following day, and it was not the best steak. Much gristle. Poorly trimmed. My grandson could eat shoeleather, so he had no complaints. However, my steak was the WORST piece of meat I have ever had in a restaurant. I am 74 years old, and have eaten at many steak restaurants. The first slice through my steak revealed what was to come. Before I cut through, my steak knife snagged on a vein. I literally had to shred the piece to be able to find something edible. After wresting the beast from the steak, it turned out to be about 3" in length. The second (and last) slice revealed a fat cap on the bottom of the steak that my steak knife would not cut through. It was approximately 1/8" thick. I enjoyed one bite of meat. I left the remainder of the meat. But I enjoyed the rest of my sides! Our primary server was new and still in training. Her and her trainer did a wonderful job. The meal, however was a disappointment. When you are charging $22.00+ for a steak dinner, please assure the prep chef knows how to trim a piece of meat. This piece should have never left the kitchen. When our server was clearing the plates, she asked how our meals where. After I literally picked up the "steak" with my fingers, and showed her the problems, she was insistent on taking something off our bill. I explained to her, I do not complain about a meal just to get a discount, and that I did not want one. I simply asked her to let the kitchen staff to learn how to trim and scrutinize a piece of protein before serving it. The restaurant was not busy. There was no excuse for this. I regret not taking photos. My advice for future diners: Order a Bloomin' Onion and a beer, or a salad. read more

I would advise to not eat at this location. They tried to scam me on 2 areas of the check. I had an up charge on my Aussie fries of 1.25, and a miscellaneous 1.00 charge on my check. When I confronted waitress, she said really the up charge on my chili as a side is 3.00 and not 2.00 and with the fries she said they charge to layer them rather than just putting cheese on top. She said it was better that way. First off, they were not layered. Next off, I hadn't even asked for that. She then rudely said, " I'll just take the charge off if you want!" I was like... Yes, but she refused to remove the 1.00 extra charge. If you still insist on eating here, please check your checks. The food was so-so, so I gave 2 stars. Went to the new location for the first time. Walked in on a Thursday at 5:30 and hostess seated us immediately at a high top. We asked if she could switch us to a booth right next to the table and it apparently was an inconvenience for her as she was somewhat rude. I ordered the special (see photo) which was the Roasted Garlic Shrimp topped Filet. Description was sautéed shrimp, tomato basil and roasted garlic butter. Also asked or it medium rare. Waiter brought our meals out and the filet had nothing on it. He said the shrimp topping wasn't quite done, but he wanted to get my filet out. Nice gesture; however this was the SPECIAL. Not only that, but my filet was 1/2 cut ... which indicates the chef needed to check if the steak was done. That's not how you service a $27 steak. A few minute later my shrimp came out in a bowl with butter. No tomatoe basil - again ... the SPECIAL. See photos of the menu and what I was actually served. On the positive - the steak was delicious. Husband ordered the ribeye. Cooked perfect, but extremely over-seasoned. All in all - a $90 meal for two was not worth it. read more

The new location is sleek and spacious yet rustic and cozy at the same time. We were greeted and seated immediately on a Thursday night. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. My hubby put in an order for prime rib. We were informed that they were out of it after about 5 mins of placing our order. Ummm, okay. He ended up getting the rib eye steak. It arrived done to his liking, medium rare. The mashed red skin potatoes on the side were a bit bland. I ordered the hand breaded shrimp and loaded baked potato. The shrimp were thickly breaded, plump and flavorful. I also ordered a blue cheese chopped salad, but I had to send it back because it was over saturated with dressing. Ewww! I swapped it out with a Caesar salad. I had a hunch in the back of my mind that the replacement salad would arrive with too little dressing. I was right, but I ate it anyway. We also ordered a blooming onion. That was tasty as usual. And the strawberry lemonade was notable, too. I'm an honest reviewer and I really hate to say this, but I'm going to have to go with 2 stars for this restaurant. Unfortunately my hubby and I ended up feeling sick with stomach issues all night and well into the morning after eating there. On a lighter note, atleast we both didn't get food poisoning. To celebrate a family members birthday we decided on going to this Outback. All 3 of our steaks that we ordered from our 8oz. sirloin and bourbon carmelized steak dinners were improperly cooked and were not prepared as requested (Med. Rare) rendering them completely inedible. It was impossible to even cut into them let alone chew and enjoy them even using the provided steak knives. In addition, one baked potato was all yellow inside and was not good or tasty. We did bring these issues to the attention of our server who did an excellent job otherwise but only my wife's steak was comped from the final bill. It's unfortunate, as this used to be an excellent restaurant location to enjoy a nice steak dinner and have a good dining experience but after eating here again tonight and seeing how things have gone downhill and changed for the worse we will prob. not be returning anytime soon. read more

Food is below what you would expect. Go to Longhorn. Order the plywood. Newly renovated store didn't think to train their staff. Rude manager said the TV's aren't working because it's raining..nice try but being rude and snippy was ridiculous. Servers were trying to turn on the TV's once again with no training. The food was sub par, I ordered a bloomin onion burger got no blooming onion and a little bit of the sauce, they ask you how you want it cooked but they just give it to you the only way the cook knows how to. My server also carried straws in her back butt pocket was very gross. The fries tasted gross. There was a baby playing around the bar and then the servers would take the baby into to kitchen to play, very unprofessional and not safe for a child, I was at outback steakhouse around 6:30pm on Monday the 28th, the servers were to busy taking care of the baby during there shift. I really don't have much positives to say about this restaurant. I was hoping that after they opened the new location, it would be different but it really doesn't seem to have gotten much better. We waited 40 minutes for a seat, and there were probably 20 tables available. There were also 5-6 parties waiting with us so I'm not sure if it was a shortage of staffing that caused it? I know that isn't fully their fault, but that is certainly a negative. Once seated, we ordered right away because we knew what we wanted and, once again, waited about 30 minutes for our food to come out. We could see during this time them consistently bringing orders to the takeaway section of the building. Logistically that's difficult for the staff to keep up with. I understand that. But its not a positive to wait for an hour and 20 minutes to eat when arriving at a restaurant. Once the food came the steak and pork were both overcooked. Not horribly, but they were both not what we ordered. My assumption is they were sitting under warmers and kept cooking. The sides were good though. The staff was also friendly, when you saw them. Our waitress only came to our table 2 times in the 45+ minutes we were there. And I saw her on multiple occasions at the bar talking to other staff members. VERDICT: This location never disappoints! RECOMMENDATIONS: Prime Rib!! Easygoing atmosphere & quality cuts of steak. I order to-go, 1-2 times every month, either online or over the phone, and they never get the order wrong or forget anything! (I still park and check every time though, and so should you.) And they'll put it in your car for you! :) ----------------------------------- THE FOOD ITSELF: Whether I order a Filet Mingon or Center Cut Sirloin (aka Outback Special) depends on what I'm craving. Today was a filet day, and it was as smooth as butter! The Center Cut Sirloin isn't as tender as the filet, obviously, but in no way is it a lesser steak. It's always tender, juicy, minimal fat, if any, just like the filet. I love love love the seasoning they put on their steaks. I'm always skeptical when ordering Prime Rib from restaurants, debating if it's worth the gristle to meat ratio, but you will love Outback's.. There is some fat, so if I choose that I get the 16oz. size & it's just right for me. Comes with horseradish sauce and au jus. The prime rib with the au jus is, omg, in the words of Rachel Green, "kick-you-in-the-crotch, spit-on-your-neck fantastic"!! As a rule almost, especially from a restaurant with 'steakhouse' in its name, I think you should stick to ordering what the restaurant's specialty is. But let me tell you, the Queensland Chicken & Shrimp Pasta is really good. And I don't even like alfredo sauce, which is what comes on this. Also, you can get the pasta with just chicken or just shrimp. As far as sides go, I usually get the Broccoli & Cheese and Steakhouse Mac & Cheese (topped with toasted garlic breadcrumbs!). Used to always get the garlic mashed potatoes, but sadly they are no longer 'garlic'. If you're craving a little sweet with your savory, try the Baked Sweet Potato, topped with honey butter, brown sugar and cinnamon! Whatever side(s) I get though, I have to get a House Salad every visit, with their house-made croutons & ranch dressing.. soooo good. I usually don't get dessert, but decided to try the Salted Caramel Cookie Skillet this time. I don't know how it compares to Outback's other desserts, but if you still have room in your tummy, you should get this one! Pretty heavy for me, could easily split it. ----------------------------------- ASIDE FROM THE FOOD... I can't say enough about this place. I rarely eat in, but when I pick it up curbside, every staff member is always such a pleasure. Either way, I don't recall ever having a bad experience here because of the staff. They are SO friendly and genuinely a joy a talk to. That, I feel, is rare these days. I am not saying they are without flaws, but this past year they have been very minimal. If there ever is an issue with an order, this Outback actually cares to make it right, every time. And I love that to pick up food to-go, you just sit in your car. Rated 3* okay because our server was very good and the food was good, not great, but there were several let downs. Booked a party of 13 for 5pm on a Sunday thinking to avoid the FRI/SAT challenges and be there early before the regular SUN dinner rush. You'd think they'd put us off to the back or away from other diner but there we were right in the middle of the front of the restaurant with all the other dinners sitting in an L shape with booths around us while the back of the restaurant was completely empty. Had the restaurant been full this would have been fine but there was a whole section of empty tables/booths in the back of the restaurant which seemed like they were not filling for their convenience. Would have been better for all patrons if you spread everyone out more. Strike one. As I noted our server was very good and I give him props as managing a table of 13 is never easy even when we are organized and try and make it easy for him. Drinks came quickly and he was smart to bring waters all around and provide a pitcher for the table so we could self serve giving him more time. During ordering some frustration started. Sunday 5:15pm and he tells me they are out of Prime Rib. I ask, how is that possible it's early? He checks his ordering tablet and then says " oh look at that it's back available." I'm lucky I questioned it's availability as I was looking forward to it. I then ask for a baked potato as my side and he tells me they are out of those! Again I ask, how is that possible it's early? and this time there is no real answer just "I'm sorry we don't have them available today." How does a steakhouse run our out of baked potatoes at 5pm on a Sunday. Strike two. This review is long enough already, you get the picture. Management needs to think a bit about what seating is preferred by customers rather than their own desires and should have the food on the menu available as baked potatoes could easily be picked up (even on a Sunday) at the nearby grocery. My prime rib was excellent, chopped salad okay and potato soup average.
