    Plate of just finished meal.
    Joy R.

The food was delicious. The place had great ambiance. The service could be a bit better. I ordered two meals at $50 yet I was charged $60. I didn't get a resolve with that until the following day when $10 was returned to the credit card. The manager had no explanation for that occurrence even when I explained to him what happened. The place has plenty of parking and well suited for families as well as those with disabilities. $25 per person is average per meal. Yet it could be more depending on what you order. Wait time is reasonable. Plenty of seating available.

Full rack of ribs with 9 bones

OK it's been a few years since I've been to this place and let me tell you. It's gone downhill so much... first off the prices are way up , I ordered a full rack of ribs and got 9 bones. 9 out of what should have been 12 to 14 for a full rack For 30$ 30$ ? That's almost 10$ more then elsewhere you get a full rack of ribs ! A normal portion is about 20$ With tax maybe 22$ And the meat not fall off the bone ... Very tough and chewy There is a reason this place has two stars... stay far away... much better places like red creek !

    Blooming Onion

Food is fair. Blooming Onion isn't blooming.....appears to be a bunch of onion petals thrown on a plate. Entrees came before we could eat them or our salads. Server is very nice. Wish they could turn off the music. Hard to hear my friend.

Actual meal served with shrimp and butter served a few minutes after my meal.

When we arrived, the hostess was not at the station so we alked in. Seated immediately by the sole wait staff/bartender. No one ever acknowledged our special occassion. If you aren't going to acknowledge, why ask? We were in time for happy hour and were very pleased with the happy hour tempranillo. Not so happy about those dirty glasses. Happy hour cauliflower was tasty. The steak was not a uniform temp. Edges were medium well and inside was medium rare. The chimichurri is very parsley forward. The fish was perhaps a tad over cooked. The rice, plaintains, & salsa were just ok. Jack Daniels bread pudding was bland. The sauce tasted more of cinnamon than jack daniels and the bread pudding itself wasn't flavorful. The chocolate cake was ok. We shared a few bites, then took it home. Took us a few days to get through it and we love chocolate! Service was amazing, especially considering she also was tending bar. There were several parties dining and so far as we could tell, she kept everyone happy. If you give it a try, go for the service ... the food is just ok.

I will say the service was very slow, especially considering it was a Monday and hardly anyone else there - but I do acknowledge that they are a from scratch kitchen, so it makes sense. "Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back. They deserve another try. You should give them a try and see for yourself.

The Margarett Red Zin was decent--slightly peppery and fruity without being too sweet. The crab cake had good flavor, although it wasn't as chunky as I prefer, and the bottled-tasting remoulade didn't help. The Caprese salad seemed to have been introduced to balsamic and olive oil of rather questionable quality. The linguine with chopped clams, garlic, olive oil, parsley and Parmesan arrived less than warm, and the flavors never quite got acquainted. The grilled Mahi Mahi, however, was the bright spot. Well prepared, with mango, tomato, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro and cucumber salsa, finished with sweet Thai chili sauce. Good combination of flavors. We had specifically asked that the courses be served separately. We were assured they would be. They weren't. The appetizers and salads arrived together. Apparently, "separately" has become one of those words open to interpretation. Service otherwise was acceptable. But the restaurant was only about half full. That may not be a scientific measure of a restaurant's decline, but when the food and service seem to have deteriorated too, you begin to wonder. It just wasn't the same Lobster Pot I remembered. And unfortunately, I don't mean that in a good way
