    The Original Bloomin' Onion®
    Claudia C.

We stopped in to this location for a late lunch, we were seated right away and our server came fairly quickly, she was friendly and helpful, took our drink orders and appetizer order, the Blooming Onion. We placed our lunch order when drinks arrived my husband had the lunch Alice Springs Chicken with a side house salad and I had the 6 oz sirloin medium (I know it will be a perfect medium rare as I like it!) also with a side salad. Everything was delicious! The dining room was clean and everyone very friendly, we will definitely be back.

Never have I ever had raw bacon in the soup...the Bloomin' Blonde beer was "skunk beer" then I ordered a Stella it was slightly better - then the Corona bottled was where it was. Walla B drink was better...Bloomin Onion was aight.. Merritt Island Outback needs to TIGHTEN UP UP...

The only thing I heard voiced disappointment for was the Onion Rings appetizer - several rings were left uneaten at a table of 20-somethings. The drinks - meh. Not a fan of the featured cocktails. Watered down and devoid of even a hint of alcohol taste to the ones we had. The service - our waitress seemed overwhelmed and when we looked around, there weren't many others in sight. It just felt understaffed. Visual appeal - decent, but definitely not polished. Where we were sitting you could see giant rippling in the wood veneer paneling they installed over the old Applebee's walls. Overall? Meh. Might come back, might not. Would come back if someone wanted to meet up there, but there are a lot of local steakhouses within 5 mins of this place....

Unfortunately, the service was again, spotty. It took about 10 minutes for the server to come to the table to acknowledge us and take drink orders. All in all, it took over an hour and a half for a slow house Sunday lunch. Although I know that the server is not responsible for the food that comes out of the kitchen, they are the last to set eyes on the food before bringing it to the table. On to the food. Four 4 adults and one child, we ordered peel and eat shrimp, kid's chicken tenders with fries, a cup of soup, the salad special, a regular salad from the main menu and a regular sandwich from the main menu. Each order of fries that were brought out had obviously been pre-fried and held to be served later, rather than fried to order. We had asked for the child's food to be served ASAP, rather than waiting for the rest of the order. When it was brought out, the fries were obviously old; they were unevenly warm, limp and had obviously been under a heat lamp for some time. The fries were returned to the kitchen and a fresh order requested. The fresh order was hot, crispy and perfectly golden brown. When the sandwich came out it was served dry, with no dressing or aioli, and the side of fries were again, old. The server commented that the slaw should have been tossed in dressing. We again asked the server to bring fresh fries, along with aioli which per the menu should have been on the sandwich. The peel and eat shrimp were served raw. Not slightly under, raw. We requested that the shrimp be brought to temperature and said we didn't need them to re-fire a new order. The kitchen could just bring the same order up to the correct temperature. The kitchen could have done it by putting the shrimp in the microwave or the flatiron for a minute. Instead they threw them back on the grill and incinerated them - and then the server brought out the burnt offerings. The manager was kind enough to take the shrimp off the bill when he stopped by the table and we brought it to his attention, but again, the server is the last person to put eyes on the food. The old limp, cold fries and the raw and then incinerated shrimp should never have been brought to the table. This was a failure of both the front of the house and the back of the house. The ambiance at Dolphins remains wonderful, this is a terrific location. Relaxing with an adult beverage and watching the boats go up and down the canal and the draw bridge open and close is entertaining for everyone. The only thing lacking is good food and good service.

My lunch partners all tried it and everyone loved it. I ordered the Lunch Calamari, $11.95. It normally comes w Fried Rice and Grilled Vegetables. I only had the veggies and they truly doubled up on them. I asked the waitress if the Calami was good and she said some people don't like it because of the texture. Some people think it is rubbery. I knew what she meant because I think most people eat fried calamari. I like Calamari cooked every way so I enjoyed my meal. I appreciated her honesty. I also had the House Sake, $5.50. My other lunch partners had a variety of dishes, 2 Bento Boxes and one order of Salmon. They were all happy with their meals too. My total was $25.63 which is more than I like to spend on a lunch - but it was that much because I couldn't resist the app and the Sake. And I wasn't sorry I did. Mahi taco- inside was good but idk if orlando doesn't have a good bread place cuz the tortilla was soo bad. Like no moisture, fake tasting tortilla. Overall, this place might be better for fried baskets and like fish and chips rather than fresh seafood experience. Also considering it is on the cape/island you do have to drive out a long way on a single road to get to it, so that might have also influenced my expectations. My wife ordered the "daily catch" special which was grouper. Once again a large filet and cooked to perfection.
