Boy what a disappointment. Has outback gone down hill. Once Covid hag subsided somewhat we started to venture out for restaurant dining. Outback was one of our locations. The last couple of visits all was as expected. Good food service and clean restaurant. On Sunday we went to the Outback off Hull Street in Midlothian Va. We walked into a mostly empty restaurant and were seated a a booth by the bar. We sat and waited for someone to take our order and waited and waited. There were service people congregated at the service entrance and 3 staff eating and drinking at a table. We got up a sat at the bar as the bar tender returned from who know where. Probably no management at this location as all you saw was wait staff waking or standing around on their phones. No one running tables I don't know why as there seamed to be plenty of staff. I will seriously rethink going back to this place. By the way stay away from the Bloomin Chicken sandwich. The coating was terribly burnt and crusty. The chicken was not over cooked so I assume the crust doesn't hold up to the cooking temp needed for the chicken. read more

I have been to this Outback Steakhouse numerous times over the years., and thought the food was just 'ok' It's surely not worth the super high prices they charge. We ordered a steak medium well, and it had blood running out of it! The blooming onion was tiny, and soggy. The waiter couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time! My fiancée and I went to this location tonight (January 16th). We didn't feel like cooking and decided to treat ourselves out to dinner. My fiancée ordered a Bushman Shrooms for her meal and that was good. I ordered the 6oz Sirloin steak cooked medium well. It was supposed to have a little pink in the middle. It came out bleeding all over my plate, spilling into my french fries and garlic mashed potatoes! Obviously, I sent it back to be cooked longer. The manager brought my steak back out to the table burnt to a crisp and asked me if it were cooked enough for me this time. It was SO burnt, I had trouble cutting into it. The manager just stood there with a stupid look on his face like "What do you want ME to do about it? " I sent it back a 2nd time! When it came out, it was so damn bloody that it was cooked even less than the first time! Finally, I asked them to just comp the meal and they did so. With that said, our waiter was fantastic. Cole was very courteous and often checked on us to refill our drinks and ask if we needed anything. It wasn't his fault the cook messed up our order. When you pick a chain restaurant, its because you know what to expect and there is some consistency. I can say that this outback location is only giving the chain a bad name. We had a bad experience there earlier this year and decided to give it another go. What a disappointment. We ordered an appetizer and the manager came over to tell us that they only had a 1/2 portion size of it left and they would give it to us at 1/2 price. Ok--so we said we'll take it. We were a little surprised they didnt offer it to us complimentary since they ran out of something and the likelihood that it would be good --being what was scraped off the bottom of the bowl. When we got it, that was the case. It was clearly old and tasted awful. We sent it back and got our entrees, which were pretty good. There is some opportunity in the service space for this location--they should have told us they were completely out or offered it complimentary. Last time we went, we had a piece of porcelin in our entree. To apologize, they comped us a dessert. The ice cream had the paper from the ice cream container in it. FAIL! read more

The pros - fast and solid service, one night a sirloin that had outstanding flavor, and "mini" desserts that really are about the right size! Not as good - an Asian salad that had cold peppered Ahi tuna on it, maybe just not to my taste? Last night I had a ribeye steak that had way too much gristle instead of marbling, and just didn't have much flavor. Still maybe 3 stars but last night the AC was running so cold that even with my sweater it was freezing and my husband even commented on how cold it was. Visiting my son and family from CA and went out for nice dinner. Worse Outback have ever been to and having traveled for work have been to several. My salmon tasted old. My daughter-in-law ordered the ribeye medium rare and it came medium well. She sent it back. My son ordered a filet medium and it tasted and smelled fishy like a piece of old beef that had been frozen, thawed, refrozen, and thawed again. My grandson's children's steak was grizzly. My son returned his steak for prime rib. My husband and I had to take the grand kids home while my son and his wife ate their second ordered meals. We had a mozzarella and tomato caprese appetizer, new to their menu. It was very good. I was impressed, especially with the balsamic glaze. My wedge salad was very good also. I liked the red onion and tomato add as well as the balsamic glaze. My issue was with the steak. I had a porterhouse. Very uninspired. I have never been so embarrassed in my life!! I'm a 32 year old woman with a 9 year old child. I'm originally from NYC and we came here to eat for my sister in laws birthday. So , when I order a glass of white wine and got carded that wasn't the issue. The issue was because the manager said it was damaged and that they could not serve me the wine. I was shocked because in all my life this has never happened or been said to me. The ID was valid, in fair condition and had not yet expired. If he couldn't tell because it was a New York State ID then that made sense and he should have said that. But why would a manager want to admit that he just didn't know? Anyways, my sister in law went to get me the drink from the bar which she used my credit card to pay for but they didn't question that. They took the money. I was in the middle of drinking my wine because I can and it's legal for a 32 year old woman to drink wine. He then came over and asked that I give him my drink because what I'm doing is illegal. I said no because it was absolutely my right. I said no because I paid for it. But he was rude and embarrassing me in front of the entire restaurant so we decided to leave. But because I paid for my drink I was going to finish it. And when I went to take my last sip he snatched the glass out of my hand and was very aggressive. It wasn't about the money it was the principle and he attacked me on top of that. They never questioned how it was being paid and took my money but had the audacity to embarrass me in front of the entire place because he wasn't sure what a New York State id looked like. A man like this should never manage any establishment. I have been in customer service my entire life and this was horrible customer service. We ended our night at Longhorns which was way more comfortable and I was treated with respect and the food was great!!! I will never go to ANY outback again. Over the past ten years the service at this location has gone down hill to the point they should just close up and place everyone there working on unemployment. So tonight I ordered a 10 oz rib eye with a bake potato, broccoli and a side lobster tail. The food comes and I immediately notice that the steak looked different. Sure enough the medium steak that was ordered comes back well done and burnt. The baked potato was cold. So I eat the broccoli and the lobster tail and wait, wait and wait for the server to appear. When she does she acts astonished and the proceeds to ask if I would like to try another steak!!!!!! I response was simple and polite. No thank you I'll just have the check. Six weeks ago we went there and after about an hour after our got home I went to bed nauseous woke up made to bathroom in time to throw up my steak. This happened 2 more times till empty stomach. This was such a horrible experience. I am not a complainer I just won't go back. We were celebrating my stepdaughter's 18th birthday and she loves steak so we wanted this to be an amazing experience. We got seated and it took a bit for the waiter to come but that's okay because we were looking at the menu. The waiter finally comes and we order our drinks and app. Our app comes out and then he comes for our order. While we waited for over 45 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our food, the waiter brings us drinks and says we have no ice and quickly walks away. Ok well it's obvious they are having a hard time. It is a Saturday night and it's busy. So we poor our drinks into our old glasses that still had ice. I excused my self from the table to see if I could find the waiter to let him know we were celebrating a birthday and I couldn't find him so I went to the hostess stand. The manager happened to be there so I told him. He was very nice and receptive. We finally got our food and my husband asked for his steak medium well and got a very very very well done steak. I got the Alice Springs Chicken and I couldn't even eat it because it was so dry. I picked the cheese off and ate that and my loaded potatoes. The water was nowhere to be found and three birthday songs went by and none were for our table. It was miserable. This Outback has really gone downhill and I would never go back!! read more

Last night, we decided to go to Outback for the first time in several months. The parking lot wasn't too busy so we stopped. We were told the wait was around 25 minutes. We waited while we saw many people come in and be seated before us. Not a few people, a LOT of people. When we asked what was taking so long (after now nearly a 45 min wait) the hostess said she would "work us in" after the "call ahead" patrons. Apparently there is an app. Perhaps if I had used the app from their waiting area I could've been seated sooner. If they don't care about the people who are sitting in their restaurant waiting much longer than we were told, I don't care to give them my business. read more

this review has one star only because i had to give something. after calling ahead and being told that we would only have to wait 30 minutes we actually ended up waiting about 1 hour and 15 minutes, after FINALLY being seated we we were greeted by a very unpleasant waitress who didn't know how to crack a smile nor did she serve bread to us while we waited for our food. after meeting our "very friendly" waitress we never saw her again. after being served by the other staff members our food was edible at best. everyone's food was over cooked, dry, and child size. for a restaurant who is known for their steak, it was appalling. needless to say after our obnoxious wait, poor service, disgusting food AND rude customers seated next to us we will NOT be visiting this restaurant ever again. read more
