First off thanks to Marcella ("Sally") for outstanding service... the restaurant was slammed, since it's mother's day, but Sally took wonderful care of us, and had the most amazing cheerful personality, despite the crowd. And then there's the food. My mother said it was the best meal at an Outback that she's ever had (she got a pork porterhouse). I think that's a fair assessment. My filet was just melt-in-your-mouth perfect. I also got a side of "diced potatoes", which were pictured on one of the special menus, but wasn't actually listed anywhere. Best side I've ever had at Outback. I really hope they put these on the permanent menu. They don't really seem like diced potatoes - they're more like tater tots. But whatever they are, they were light and crispy and perfect. Because it was mother's day, there was a special menu, and I got the filet with a bearnaise sauce and crab meat. That part was okay, but not spectacular. Honestly, this filet was so perfect that it would have been much better just plain. And I really do mean perfect - better than the steaks I've had at Mortons or Ruths Chris. In the spirit of helping a great place get even better, I will point out the one slight imperfection - the pacing was a little fast. Maybe that's because of the mother's day crowd, though we were at the tail end of it, and by the time we left, it was pretty quiet. But I really prefer to have everyone finish their entrees before any desserts are served. And if the three course menu comes with dessert, that's great, but give everyone else a chance to order dessert before you bring out the one that had to be ordered at the start of the meal. And I also prefer to finish eating before being presented with the check - if I'm in a hurry, I'll ask for it. But I don't like to be rushed. read more

This was my first time eating here, and I had heard great reviews about it. Our waiter was incredibly polite and helpful and brought out everything we ordered. However, the ribeye I ordered as medium rare came out raw, as if they threw it on the grill for only a couple seconds. visiting in town! we got in at 530 and our waitress seemed kind. after we ordered she basically disappeared. another waitress refilled our drinks. she seemed to lack some basic waitress manners. at the end of the meal when the original stopped by I pointed out that my "medium" steak was very rare she asked rudely "well do you want me to have them throw it back on?" no! I wanted u to come around more than once a meal so we can resolve this early, not after we've finished. she did ever so kindly offer $5 off a ruined $20 steak. overall, was not good service and the food did not meet expectations. read more

They are open on June 29, 2020. Very good service. Had take out. Walked in to pick it up. All staff I saw were wearing masks. Food was packed well and one bag had hot stuff, one bag cold stuff. One of the best meals we have ever had! I ordered the sirloin steak and ribs, my wife had surf and turf with sirloin steak and shrimp. The steaks were perfectly cooked with excellent flavor. Ribs were great as well as the shrimp. The other component of this was the outstanding service we had from Cody. He made some good suggestions and always checked with us to see how things were. Every once in a while you eat a meal that makes you say "Wow!!" This was one of those meals. Could not have asked for a better dining experience. This was one whoopsee of a night for Outback in Rapid City. Empathy for the manager. Outback is a go-to for us in many cities when traveling & consensus is not achieved on alternates. Not again for Rapid City. Seats half occupied. Over 1 hour for soup/salad. Staff may have been new in kitchen, but no excuse for the waiter to ghost all night, and confuse orders when he did appear. It was the worst dining experience I think I have ever had. We had a large group and used their call ahead seating option, we got there about 10 minutes early and host said right this way only to take us to our table, but someone had just been sat. We waited 20 minutes before being seated two large round tables. One tables food came out, my husbands burger was dry, my asparagus was so over cooked and mushy, my shrimp was cold, my step mom ordered the philly and there was barely any meat. We waited another 18 minutes before the other part of our tables food came out and it was cold. The manager was called over and SHE started to be very combative, and told us they aren't corporate. We called in for reservations for a party of 9 and we were told they could accommodate us. We showed up and were told they did not have tables open at that time and we would have to wait until the parties were done so they could give us a table. Could be as long as 45 minutes but they could accommodate us by putting us in 2 booths. We asked for the 6 person booths on the side that had very few customers and were told we could not sit on that side of the restaurant because it would stress Out the waiter!! Food was mixed up and overcooked. We had to ask for 2 booths and a chair because the hostess could. It figure it out. Anton was a great waiter though!! Do not recommend!! read more

This was one of the worst experiences. We had a group of 7 called ahead to reserve a table at 8pm. We finally got a table at almost 9. Half of our group went to the bar while we waited Rob was an amazing bartender. Literally the only good thing about our experience. Many of our group had over cooked steaks. One of our group had enough and said so, the replacement came out extremely undercooked. Having already waited way longer than we wanted to they decided to just deal with it. Speaking with the manager was just excuses for the things that went wrong. Server was terrible especially for being late at night. Empty drinks with no care or ask for refills. Manager who stopped to drop of the replacement under cooked steak had to be asked for refills on beverages. All in all would never go back except to see Rob the bartender. Rob 5 stars.... very pleased with our dinner tonight. it was father's day and the restaurant was very much crowded, and it was still good. service was outstanding and the food was alright. my steak quesadilla was delicious - there were a couple pieces of gristly-meat i couldn't bit into, but other than that, tasty, well seasoned, tender, very very good. the accompanying sour cream was excellent. sounds like a weird thing to comment on, but i've had sour cream served to me for a meal that didn't taste like 'real' sour cream, but rather like some other concoction. hubby's steak philly sandwich was good also. not like the real 'philly cheese sandwich' he used to enjoy in Philly, but it was not bad. which is saying it was 'good.' the fries were good. we had planned on having dessert, but were so filled up with the really tasty food, we had to pass on it. read more

We had a slight issue with our order, but Gabbie our server and Jasmine the General Manager were incredible and went above and beyond to take care of us and the issue. LET ME START BY SAYING THAT WE ARE LIFETIME CATTLE RANCHERS IN THE AREA........We do not eat at chain restaurants very often, but decided to go there on a Saturday night. I had their ribs, wife got a filet & my father in law had the ribeye. All three meals were perfectly cooked & VERY tender. Salads were cold/fresh & of course had to try a bloomin onion. It was very busy but the service was great and we were seated right away. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. I had the steak and lobster meal and I wish I had another stomach. It was so much food but it was great. The location is kind of odd. They are behind a hotel and the entrance faces the interstate. 9/29/2011 we chose this restaurant because it was with in walking distance to the hotel. I ordered a salad with my dinner never got it. When I said something to the waitress she acted surprise. She should have known. The manager came over to the table and offered to get me the salad. I said it was a little late since I already had the entree. My wife's steak a fillet was tough. He replaced the steak, offered a dessert at no charge and a free future blooming onion which I declined. Experience was disappointing but the manager tried to make it right. We saw other tables were also having problems with their orders and the manager was having to step in and try to fix the problem. read more

Hmmm...dirty table, sat in what I'm choosing to believe was salad dressing, our entire table had not just dirty glasses but HAIR IN OUR.WATER, our food was cold and also contained hair, and it was just disgusting. Called ahead for seating and still had to wait. Were seated and were asked what we wanted to drink. 10 minutes later we finally got the drinks. Ordered an appetizer and was told she would be right back to get our order. During this time, 2 other people were seated and their orders for food taken before ours. Finally took our order and 30 minutes later finally got our food. Servers seemed to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Don't blame them completely as it very well could have been a problem elsewhere. Food was the reason this got a 3 star. Not the biggest fan of outback and this experience didn't help. read more

When we walked in, there was no one at the podium. There was a party of four people talking in the sitting area so we waited for an employee. After some time waiting, a lady in the party of four stood up, walked behind the podium, then asked us how many was in our party. We were seated immediately and told our waitress Sabrina would be with us soon. She came over and began the normal exchange of asking about drinks and appetizers: we told her we just wanted extra bread. Two in our party of three ordered alcohol (one bud light with a lime and a glass and one Castaway Cocktail) and we asked for more time to order. She came back later to take our order: two steaks (one well done, one medium rare), two house salads (one with dressing on the side, one normal), and a burger. At this point she said she would check on our drinks at the bar. One person asked for a new napkin as well. The gal that seated us came over with the salads. The dressing came on the side for the one, and she said she had another regular house salad. We questioned "With French dressing?" and she confirmed "Yes" and placed it on the table. After she left we discovered the second salad had no dressing. We looked around for someone to flag down, but ended up waiting a while again for anyone to walk by. We eventually caught someone and told them the dressing was missing. When our food came to the table, the man asked if we needed anything else. We were about to ask for our alcohol drinks, but a girl from the bar came up behind him, with the cocktail and beer bottle (no glass or lime as resquested). We let the man know that we were still waiting on a new napkin, the requested extra bread, and the glass/lime for the beer. He flagged down the girl from the bar and asked her to get us a napkin, but did not acknowledge the other requests. We started to eat, but discovered the ordered medium rare steak was extremely rare. Again we looked around for our waitress, who had not been back to the table (not even to check on the fountain drink levels) and she was nowhere to be seen. We caught the next server that walked by and asked to have a manager come to the table. After a few minutes, our waitress came over and asked how everything was. We showed her the very rare steak and told her it was meant to be medium rare. She immediately started to try taking it back to the kitchen so it could be cooked longer, but we declined, not wanting to deal with sending it back. We also heard the man behind us say that his intended medium rare steak was also very rare. After she left, we were approached by the same woman that had seated us and brought our salads. She said "You asked to speak with the manager?". We showed her the steak and she agreed it was not cooked properly. She offered to take it back, but we declined again, not wanting to deal with it. We also let her know that we were still missing a napkin, the glass/lime for the beer, the extra bread, and let her know about the missing salad dressing. She just sort of looked at us and said "Ok..." and we said we just wanted to let you know. She said ok again and walked away. She returned with the bread, a glass with a lime, and a napkin. She set the items down, presented the napkin, and in a condescending tone said "Here is your fresh linen, sir". We were not expecting a free meal, a voucher, or anything else, but we did think an apology was warrented. But after realizing she was the woman that had seated us after ignoring us at the podium and brought us the incomplete salad and said it was correct, we weren't that surprised that she didn't even apologize or ask what could be done to make things better. We will not be returning and highly suggest others do not as well. read more

My wife and I went here and there were maybe 8 other people eating as well. We were placed at a 6 seat table and we asked for a booth. We were placed in a booth and 15 minutes later we finally got two glasses of water and our waiter said he'd be right back. We were ready to order and saw our waiter clearing a table. I really think he should have taken our order and he could have cleared the other table afterwards. He didn't return to our table and so we decided to leave. My wife spoke with the manager, who was very pleasant, and she offered us another waiter but we wanted to leave. The Manager even offered free meals for us, but we decided to leave from frustration. So many employees were standing around doing nothing or checking their phones and as I sad, the place was not busy and did not appear understaffed. We went to Olive Garden and had a fantastic server, who we left a $20 tip. I will not go back to this Outback Steakhouse and I think they need better trained servers who actually want to work. read more

I want to start by saying that Outback is one of my absolute favorite places to eat. Me and my girlfriend recently went to outback in Rapid City. The service was excellent, the food on the other hand was not. I ordered a porterhouse steak for $27.00+ and asked for it to be cooked medium well as the consistency of anything under that is not pleasant to my pallet. The steak came and was very red ( rare ), I kindly asked my waitress to have the cook put the steak back on until it was medium well and she did. The manager came back out with my steak a short time later and delivered the steak to me. I cut into the steak again and it was red and warm ( medium rare ). I was not in the mood to ask it to be put on the grill for a third time so I decided to bring it home and cook it myself. On top of my steak debacle, my girl nd was served overdue and brown salad and she was unable to eat it. Overall I would still recommend Outback and will likely go back, I just will not be ordering the porterhouse again. Would have given 5 stars if it was was. He also took our dinner order at that time. What seemed like a long time later, the manager came over and said he couldn't find our waiter and took our drink order again. Finally the drinks came, but still no bread. Waited longer and the bread finally came and then asked for our dinner order again. I ordered Filet Mignon cooked medium rare. It came out medium well, but had good flavor so I dealt with it. After we were done, we asked for a to go box and ordered a dessert to go. The kid was by our table 3 times after that asking if we were ok. "Just waiting on our dessert". After 20 (I timed it this time) we got up and walked to the front and asked for our dessert. This Outback Steak House is in a great location, nestled among several busy hotels and an easy reach of the highway. It is within walking distance to all of the hotels. Our waiter, Justice, was pleasant and efficient. My French Onion soup was rich and flavorful with lots of cheese. My French Dip was served on a soft bun. The meat was tender. The melted cheddar was a pleasant surprise. I had never had melted cheddar on a French Dip. My partner had the fried shrimp - crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside.
