Walked in and was seated right away, I requested a comfy booth and that's what we got. We didn't do appetizers, just had the yummy bread. My husband ordered a steak, which I think he enjoyed very much. I ordered their steak salad which I think is a great deal for a big steak salad, the steak was cooked perfectly. Came here on my birthday ordered a steak. Host ask how my steak was. I said it was not what I ordered. He went back, got me what I ordered. The cook must of took offense. The smell at the bar was unbearable...not sure if it's a one time thing or if it always smells like this here but it definitely distracted from the food which was decent. I had a lunch combo...chicken tacos and a side salad. Very big portions for a good price. I recommend getting the dressing on the side because they add ALOT to the salads. On a trip up to New York City from Florida, my girlfriend and I decided to stop at the outback steakhouse, which I have become quite fond of lately. First off, we made the right decision. Within moments of sitting, we were politely greeted by our waitress and offered drinks and appetizers right away. The appetizers were hot, the beverages were cold and the service was friendly and warm. We really enjoyed our meal and actually, our server made our experience all the more better. After an afternoon of shopping at the outlet mall, we were all ready to get dinner and make the trip back to Fayetteville last night. My son in-law suggested Outback so we agreed. We got to the Outback at 8:30 and sent John in to put us on the seating list. He came back out to the car laughing because they informed him that it would be a 1 hr and 30 min wait for a table. The daughter and I sent him back to do it because the son in-law looked like he was wanting to wait since we have an hour drive back to town and there really is not much of anything else on the way. After like 30 minutes I went in to check on the wait time and to use the restroom. Let me say it was chaos in there. I asked about the time and indeed we have another hour AT LEAST she said and I went on to the rest room which had two un-usable toilets due to being filthy and if it had not been an emergency I would have walked out. There was no warm water in either sink and I was asking myself if the employees use this same restroom? It may have been a non issue to many people but I was DONE we left without waiting the additional hour. No plans to go back. read more

I have come to the conclusion that Outback Steakhouse has jumped the shark. This phrase is used to describe a the very event that signals that something that was once great has reached the point where it begins to decline in popularity. THe origin of the phrase comes from the episode of Happy Days when Fonzi jumped a shark on his motorcycle and the show was downhill from there in popularity. I recently ate there 6/14/2016 while on a business trip. To be candid I have not eaten at an Outback in over 16 years because my husband and I developed the symptoms associated with salmonella (diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps) the next day after eating dinner at the High Point Outback. We had \shared an entree and knew without a doubt we had contracted the illness at Outback since that was the only meal we had shared. We contacted the restaurant, but never received a call back from a manager to address our concerns. Psychologically I could not stomach ever going back to eat there, and soon it generalized to all Outback Restaurants. When my colleagues selected Outback I was not too thrilled but reasoned that my reluctance was irrational and I wanted to fellowship with my fellow conference attendees. The server was friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs for the most part. I ordered the Bloomin' Onion which the menu describes as "hand-carved, cooked until golden" but my onion was cooked way beyond golden. It was soggy and greasy which indicates that the oil was not hot enough. I shared it with the table and we were having such good conversation I just didn't want to complain. My entree came and it was equally disappointing. I ordered the Bourbon Salmon, which I think was a special item. It was just ok. The bourbon sauce was thinly applied to the salmon, but the salmon was perfectly cooked. The 3 rating comes from all the other diners as well. Everyone stated their meals were just "ok" and that they have had better at Outback Steakhouse in the past. I didn't take pictures for some reason, I think because I was enjoyng the good company of some delightful women I am just geting to know this year. read more

This used to be our go-to place for steak in Smithfield. The quality of food has declined to the point that we decided as a family that our last trip on December 16, 2021 was our last. We had a small gathering of friends to celebrate my daughter's graduation and I was truly embarrassed by the food that was served to our party. To start, the blooming onion was nearly burned. All the steaks, a sirloin, a ribeye, and a filet were cooked perfectly, yet inedible because they were so tough. Potato soup tasted like a salt lick, and the cucumbers in the salads were fresh, maybe a week ago - they were slimy. Loaded baked potato was cold - not just room temperature - cold. Given that this was our THIRD bad experience in a row and waited about 50 minutes from order to delivery to the table, we chose to move on and not ask for our food to be redone. I told the server about the food when she brought the check and got the heck out. It has to be a really bad steak to leave most ot it on the plate, but my wife and I did. After visiting this location I am absolutely convinced that each restaurant or at least geographically orders from multiple suppliers. While steaks at Outback across the chain are somewhat low on quality, this one in particular is really LOW. I have ordered two different cuts and there is no way that you would identify their Filet as a filet and their ribeye as one. It's most likely that mystery steak they assemble by gluing pieces of random meat together. The meat was inedible and not chewable, even though it was ordered and prepared "medium". The staff at the bar is pleasant, the service in bringing out food is SLOW and the quality is poor. Give other Outbacks a shot, as for the most part they are decent 3 star chain, but this location is a 1 star at best. read more

Waitress was 5/5, great and very helpful. Food was okay, had a steak and a quesadilla. Quesadilla was drowned in butter with very few actual pieces of chicken or bacon. Our drinks were very light on the alcohol and heavy on the juice/mixers. Another 15 minutes for the cold soup to arrive. They brought another cold soup as a replacement. The third bowl finally arrived hot after almost an hour. The only saving grace was the flood quality. Earlier today, I placed an order for a scheduled pickup (several hours after placing the order). I received a confirmation notification about an hour before my scheduled pickup time. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the curbside attendant asked my name, order details, etc. I proceeded to wait for over 40 mins past my scheduled pickup time. After asking for a few updates with no luck, the manager (assuming she was the manager bc she was wearing a different color top than everyone else) never once acknowledged or apologized for a customer waiting such a long wait time. I NEVER RECEIVED MY ORDER! This is not the first time I've had a bad experience or issues at this location. In fact, it's typical and expected at this point. Just ok, I never expect GREAT going into an Outback. Got there on a semi busy night, we didn't have to wait. Even though I had a stroller they seated us almost all the way in the back, in a pretty thin alley way where I had to set up the sling right around a corner where the waitresses and waiters come flying around. Bad common sense on their part but I would assume the hostesses don't have kids and they don't think about things like that. Waitress was very sweet, we did have some dinner issues. I think the blooming onion tastes like garbage. But I eat healthy so I didn't expect to like a fried onion. (We got one for our table of 6) Salads were great, I got a 6oz sirloin which was delicious, broccoli which was delicious also, and a sweet potato with cinnamon... It came with butter, sugar and cinnamon on it. Every one star review I read was pretty much what we experienced. Arrived at 5 PM on a Saturday and left at 6:45 pm. There were 3 of us counting our 88 year old mother. Had little seating available while waiting and door kept opening and closing when customers came and exited. There were 11 people waiting when we arrived yet there were empty tables that could have seated 24 people. Suggestion, shut down the restaurant for a month, get the procedures down for back of house and front of house and hire enough people who know the biz. Once seated after waiting for 25 miNutes, we asked for silverware and a napkin. Gave us a fork and paper napkins. Say what? Later they gave us the linen napkins after asking a second time. Alicia was our server and she tried very hard but nOt enough staff. The blooming onion was the best thing. Sirloin was lacking every flavOr and texture you expected. Bread was ok but vegetables were cool and not steamed properly. Rejected the baby back ribs as they looked worse thAn road kill and were probably left under heat lamp too long. Second time around ribs were better but waited another 15 minutes for them and it was getting late. So we boxed uP twoCaesar salads to go, 2 cheesecakes, baby back ribs and some vegetables.I have to look again at this food as it was so bad. I waited for about 20 minutes after the waitress took my check and payment. I don't know where she went but she didn't return my change nor provide a receipt.
