First off, the service was terrific! The waitress was very attentive. My issue was with the food. I ordered my steak medium rare but it seemed to moo when I cut into it. The outside seemed burnt, but the inside was so rare. My husband said his ribs were "okay" but nothing special. Kernstown, Virginia location- June 2, 2018- my date and I were told to follow the host who walked us through the entire dining room where there were NO clean table- many empty tables covered in trash as was the floor- dirty dishes on tables and linens on floor. Then we were seated at a table in the bar area where the overwhelming smell of vomit forced me to ask to be seated elsewhere- taken back into dining room seated at table in middle of room- table was sticky and not set. Water dripped from ceiling onto table AND US- we scooted table away from leak. Server arrived withbread ceiling dripped onto bread plate, she told us to just move the table. Ordered appetizer specifically asked for it to arrive first, then soup, salad and drinks delivered at same time. Then our appetizer and entree, all in less than 5 minutes. THEN our server brought us silverware only after asking. Silverware was wrapped but greasy- I retrieved other silver from nearby table. Servers only 'cleaned' ONE table during our entire visit-she took a filthy rag and pushed all trash, food and linen napkins onto the floor and walked away- leaving it on the floor- still there when we left although she had set out silverware wrapped in linen napkins she left the huge pile on the floor. The French onion soup was inedible, blooming onion was burnt on outside and raw at base. Cheesecake was nasty. Service was awful- never offered a drink refill and check left on table while I was still eating. The restaurant was NOT busy we were seated immediately there was NO EXCUSE for the filthy condition of the ENTIRE restaurant nor the service. My date searched for a manager and found none. We should have spent our $75 elsewhere. I took the steak home to my dog. read more

Stopped here on our way to the Pittsburgh area. Very impressed with the food. All of our meals were cooked perfect. Service was excellent.

The wait times are terrible....even for those who called ahead. Nearly impossible for walk-ins from 5-7 pm. Outback needs a policy for walk-ins, tourists, etc. so they aren't constantly bumped by call- ins. Certainly a policy friendlier to walkins could be established! My boyfriends family and I went to Outback for my boyfriends birthday. We ordered steaks and chicken. The chicken was good, but my boyfriends mother had asked for well done. Well it was SO well done that they actually had burnt it to where you could throw it and it would sound like a rock. I could never catch my waitress in time to sneak away and ask her for a surprise cake, so I let the bartender know to ask our waitress for one. Well i guess she never told our waitress or our waitress never cared. She brought us the bill instead! I had gotten up again and asked the bartender again to get her to bring us one. Waitress actually brought the table behind us one, who got there way after we had. Then I get a comment "that was really mean wasn't it." After i had gotten furious they finally brought one. There was no smiles at our table. Service was not so good. Food was not so good. Prices were typical. I don't think we will ever come back to outback for another birthday. read more

I have been to this Outback numerous times and this might have been the best experience we have had there. Typically the service is fairly slow but our server Breanna was super attentive and always had our drinks filled. We ordered our usual cheese fries as well as some wings. Both were tasty. All five of us had steaks and all were cooked perfectly. My 8 year old never ordered steak before this and he enjoyed his medium steak quite a bit. Our server checked back with us after every course and continuously bussed our table as needed which is a huge pet peeve for me when servers let dishes stack up on the table without removing them. We will definitely return as Outback is one of my family's favorites places to eat and I would absolutely request the same server as she is probably the best one I have had there. read more

My husband and I stopped here for dinner after traveling from Massachusetts. We ordered the budget friendly petite sirloin dinner med. rare. The waitress advised us not to order that steak because it was too tough. I let her know that we order that dinner all the time at our local Outback and we have always been satisfied with the steak. Our steak came out raw, not even rare. We requested to have it cooked longer. The manager came out with another steak and waited while I cut into it. We all could see that this one was rare, But I was too embarrassed to complain again, and said it was fine. I attempted to eat the steak, but it was almost entirely gristle. I attempted to eat around it, but really I had about five bites. The waitress came by with the check and I showed her the inedible steak and she replied "well at least you had a little of it". I paid the check and even left a tip, which I later regretted. I responded to a customer survey on line hoping that someone from the management team from Outback would contact me and apologize for the terrible experience. I thought possibly they would offer me a coupon toward another meal but I have not been contacted. I ate at the Outback in Danvers, Ma this past weekend. I work down the road from here, and order carry out once or twice a week all around town. Unfortunatly the last 3 or 4 times i was craving coconut shrimp (including today) and i have tried to phone in a order, no one picks up. They say i can order online, but why would i try that if no one even picks up the phone. For me i dont have too long for lunch breaks to pick up food so i cant physically come in to place a order. it seems nobody in this resturante is obligated to anwser the phone for carry out orders or any number of issues( i even try calling back mins later). I want to give them my buisness, but it appears they are fine without it. Never had this problem at other outback locations as im a huge fan of curbside pick up and always tip. But i kinda feel like i have to beg them to get lunch, which ruins my outback appiteite. I will try again in a week or so and see if things have changed. read more

Arrived before dinner rush on Friday night... Currently I see 8 clean empty tables and 7 high tops .... But we had been waiting 15 minutes with several other parties. They wanted to seat us at a high top but I asked not to. They said I'd be waiting again ( and I waited 15 more minutes) I specifically asked why we could not be seated and staff said they were waiting for additional staff to come in. Finally we were seated and server and his assistant apologized and very quickly attentive. Servers and meal were fine. I found the hostess and the two young gentleman who were seating people seem to be more interested in socializing with each other then taking care of people who were waiting in the front area. I would also suggest that if you are waiting for staff to come in to serve people should still seat them and offer them a beverage and explain that you're waiting on staff and that taking the order would be a little bit. It may sound crazy but I would have been much more comfortable sitting at a table having a private conversation over a drink and waiting in a common lobby area. read more

Stopped in while on vacation. Seating didn't take long even though we came through on a Friday evening. Waiter was nice and attentive and took our orders right away. Food also came out in a reasonable time. My husband and mother in law had a lovely meal and drink orders from the bar. My meal was nasty. So I guess this is a hit or miss place. My steak was rare even though I had asked for medium well and the mac n cheese was a bowl of cold, tasteless spiral noodles. (Where we live the mac n cheese is a baked casserole type of dish with spices and breadcrumbs and it's delicious.) I had to wait for my waiter to come out and check on us to return my steak and I returned the cold noodles and asked for a potato instead. My steak came back out over cooked and charred on top and there was absolutely no flavor to it. They had not seasoned the steak at all. I was very disappointed with my meal which was basically a side salad and a potato and I was not offered a discount or any apologies or anything. read more

I really don't understand how this chain is always packed and gets good reviews. Clearly, I am choosing the wrong entree! A friend and I each had the Great Barrier combo last night and thought it was pretty awful. The lobster was nicely broiled but only about 4-6 bites, but the stuffed shrimp were like puffs of nothing--no taste and no texture. The crab cakes were the worst I've had anywhere--no crab, poorly cooked, yuk. The salad was not dressed although the waitress said the dressing was underneath--down under just like the continent I guess. Beer was super cold and good. Bread was excellent and plentiful. Service was really bad with no silverware or napkins until blooming onion finally arrived 30 minutes into our visit. Water and other drinks took nearly as long. Wait staff kept zooming by saying inane things. Husband said his steak and lobster were very good but at $38 I would certainly hope so! The atmosphere was crazy with birthdays and staff--too much really. It killed me to pay $95 for two of us for this quality of food, service, etc. I won't be back and I doubt that my friends will be either. We have many other good restaurants in Winchester when we want to drop $100 on dinner. read more

Will never visit again. Ordered salmon ( I know, what was I thinking, ordering fish at a steakhouse ). Salmon arrived raw ( didn't order sushi ) and sent back. Came back nuked so long that it had seperated the flesh like pages in a book. The manager came out ( didn't ask for her ) and told me that they cooked fish medium rare. ( had an attitude ) I was taught you cooked fish until it was done. No offer to reduce bill or discount on return visit. Rest of family's food for Mother, Wife, Son and Son's GF was lukewarm and not up to usual standards from visits dating back to the early 90's in this and other DC area Outbacks. Service was slower than usual but livable. Waitress seemed more interested in employee's new baby than our meal. Too many places in Winc. to eat to put up with this. read more

I called ahead for seating and informed them we'd arrive in 15 min. When I arrived I was told they were clearing a table for us. 10 min later we were seated. We ordered calamari as an app. It took a bit of time to arrive and when it did it was horrible. It was over cooked and rubbery. We sent it back. The waitress did offer us something else, but she'd said the salads for our meals were on their way out so we declined. We ate our house salads and awaited our steak and potato. The waitress cleared our salad plates and told us it was going to take a few more minutes for our steaks. As we sat and waited we noticed other wait staff telling other tables the same thing and apologizing for the wait. Finally, our steaks arrived. She asked us to cut into the center of our steaks and we discovered that both steaks were overcooked (not medium or medium well). They were returned and we awaited replacements for about 15 min. Once they arrived via the manager, they were fine. All told, we spent nearly 3 1/2 hours at dinner. I found the waitress to be kind and attentive; however, the kitchen seems to be bringing this place down. I adore this chain of steakhouse; however, I will avoid this particular one for a while. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a trip across states. We had to ask for the menu for the Wednesday deal (they don't tell you about it.). Ordered a medium steak and a medium rare steak. When the steaks finally came the outside was black and the inside was way undercooked. Medium was close to rare and the medium rare center wasn't even cooked. They took them back and put them on the grill again. Came back black and crispy on the outside and dry and undercooked on the inside. We sent them back to make new steaks and the med rare came back closer to normal, but the medium was still black on outside and rare inside. They threw that one back on the grill again and it came out well done. At that point we said screw it and ate the dry steak. No money was taken off our bill. Refills on drinks took forever. Worst Outback we've ever been to by far. If you call yourself a steakhouse you need to know how to cook a steak. Their grill was clearly way too hot. read more

This was our first time eating at an Outback restaurant. I must say - we left disappointed. The service was fine, but the food was mediocre at best. My wife had the steak, and it was pretty dry. We always have our steak cooked well done, but this was overcooked. I had the ribeye melt sandwich. My advice is to avoid it. Rarely do I not like sandwiches, but I hated this one. It was so dry that I barely managed to eat half of it. The steak was way overcooked, and the entire sandwich was very bland. We will not be coming back to this location. read more

we stopped in on Aril 15.2018, the wait staff was great the rest was unsatisfactory at best, The food was so over seasoned there was no taste only salt and seasoning, shrimp were way over grilled they were rubbery, french-fries over seasoned , baked potatoes were cold,steaks were juicy but so over seasoned the meat was totally lost,blooming onion and shroms were very dark and over fried. the kitchen area was loud and at times unprofessional, there was only one coffee machine so only one pot at a time could be made so we didn't even bother so for the prices you charge the chef should know over seasoned food is not good food and yes we frequent the outback a lot so we know the difference in taste. read more

Terrible, just terrible. I really can't give them any stars. First, the to-go lady was nowhere to be found and was very little help. She was more concerned with talking with her co-workers than helping customers. I ordered take out because my husband is in the hospital and it was terrible. I only ordered two items, a steak salad and soup and I should have gone elsewhere. The "bowl of soup" was about 1/2 cup and my salad was gross. I specifically asked for ranch dressing and they gave me a vinaigrette. I went back inside and asked for ranch and whatever dressing they gave me was not ranch. The whole experience was terrible. I should have read all the other reviews before I gave them my business. They are permanently off my list of restaurants to visit. read more

Food is great. When they have endless shrimp its hands down better than Red lobster, especially dipping the breaded ones in the volcano sauce. Service however sometimes is less than desirable if they're really busy but worth it for the food. read more

I have been here a few times with my husband and his family, for some reason they still like this place, I however, am not impressed! Not sure if its just this location or if the entire corporate chain has gone downhill but I can cook a better tasting and better looking steak at home, which is just while I will do as an alternative to overpaying for the under portioned, dried out, or not cooked enough meat they pride themselves so much on. I know its not the servers fault, they are just trying to do their job, but they are constantly pushing the upsell and basically telling you how youwant your food cooked and half the time it still comes out wrong. The portions of the sides are a joke for what your paying but at least they compliment the sad attributes of most of the meat they throw on the plate with it. Best bet(if you have to go there), to get your moneys worth, and safe bet, to mostly assure your order will be correct, stick with salads, soup or the bloomin onion. How hard is it to mess up a salad, right? But if I were really giving advice, I would say steer away from at least this location.
