    Bar atmosphere

I stayed at Outbound Mammoth last weekend with my best friend and am still reminiscing on the amazing experience! The location is what sells this place. Within 25 minutes you can drive to the most beautiful lakes Mammoth has to offer, hike breathtaking trails, and enjoy a small home town vibe. The rooms are cozy and have a cabin aesthetic. They were very clean and quiet. I felt it was worth every penny spent. Especially during the fall when the trees are yellow and orange and the weather is perfect. Aside from the gorgeous nature, what made our experience so memorable was the customer service. Our first Friday evening at Outbound Mammoth my best friend and I went to the restaurant located on property where everyone had a big smile. We shared the steak and it was amazing! After this, we went to the bar located aside the lobby. The atmosphere was so relaxing with music playing from a record player and a beautiful fireplace. It was here that we met a bartender named Chip who greeted us with the best energy and welcomed us to the area. He gave us great recommendations for things to do around the area including a hike up to Parker Lake, checking out the natural hot springs nearby, and enjoying a nice walk to Convict Lake. He is also very passionate and knowledgeable about wine and gave us a lesson on proper wine tasting. He is such a kind person and made us laugh hysterically. He is the reason we will be back to Outbound Mammoth, his customer service was remarkable. And the wine was amazing, the best Pinot Grigio I have ever tried!

This place has three redeeming factors. 1. The staff 2. The sauna 3. Lobby bar Everything else is subpar. We booked three nights with this hotel. To start, our check-in process was not smooth. The room they initially checked us into was missing a microwave and hair dryer, so we asked for a different room. They were fully booked out of single king beds, so we stayed in a double queen room, The next issue is parking. There are more rooms than there are parking spots, there is never any spot available, especially at night. The wifi does not work at all. If you want to get work done or have to hop on a Zoom call, this is not the place to do it. I am not sure if it is because we came during Presidents weekend, but functional wifi at a hotel is a non-negotiable especially if you are charging your guests $400+ per night. Cleanliness was horrid. There was a SPIDER on our bed. The water kettle also had black residue inside of it. Thankfully, the hotel staff was nice enough to bring a new one up to our bed. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating; especially Judy. She was attentive and listened to our concerns. Honestly, the staff are the only reason I am not leaving this place a 1-star review.

Stayed in the double chalet. The check-in process was simple and the room was comfortable. There were a number of different stairs to navigate on the way to the room, and no luggage carts, so be prepared for that. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening. However, the restaurant and bar were closed for the duration of our stay.

Suggestion .... The Westin should limit the floors of the hotel to pets to the bottom 2 floors and the top 5 to non pet owners . ( my opinion )

I planned this trip with a group of friends, and they could not stop commenting about how the chalets was the best stay they've been in at Mammoth. We stayed at chalet #9 which was not a ski out, but a very short walk to the main lodge/lifts and definitely a ski in from lower road runner. The chalet itself was cozy with plentiful seating, and even extra foldable chairs for our group. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms came equipped with hotel sized toiletries, which was a nice touch. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped with all the necessities, along with a fridge/freezer that was the perfect size to fit all of our weekend groceries. I also appreciated that they even had a huge pot to make group meals like pho, even though I had already brought my own instant pot. I would 110% stay here again and recommend the chalets to all of my family and friends. This was such a wonderful find. Thank you for the awesome stay Mammoth Mountain Chalets! :)

It was our first time staying as we used to stay in the village but we have our Molly now so we wanted a dog friendly place. The "bad" reviews had me a little worried but from the moment we arrived through the morning we had to head home it was amazing! Everything! Ross, Dave, Aldo, Mike and I know I'm missing some but they were all the best! Great personalities and so helpful and personable! We had one day with no power as the electric company was working on something above and Ross called to let us know the day before. We were fine and just kept the refrigerator closed all went sightseeing down 395 all day but they offered to charge any devices in the lodge if need be etc. The continental breakfast was perfect and delicious. Great choices. We had a kitchen in our room as we do like to cook so we did not try the restaurant for lunch or dinner this time but we enjoyed a cocktail. We loved the cabin itself from the fireplace, the bedrooms and two different bathrooms and the kitchen had everything we needed to the lakes so close for Molly. My daughter's paddle board was perfect there. There were short hikes, longer hikes or just a walk on the path to walk along also close to our cabin. Coffee makers in the rooms are terrible and leak everywhere. Comfort There is no central heating with thermostat so you have to use the wall unit. I would recommend turning that on immediately upon arriving in the room because it takes a while to heat up. 3 stars. They do have a Jacuzzi on the bottom floor and it is quite large. The bathrooms are standing showers (no tubs). I always wish there was a handheld wand/hose instead of the spigot that just rains on you. Maybe consider bringing one of those handhelds too?

Several light switches in the room also didn't turn on, which made things frustrating after dark. Parking was another issue -- the garage spaces were extremely tight ("squishy" is honestly the best word for it), and there wasn't enough room to comfortably park, let alone maneuver. Noise was also a problem -- it was quite loud from other guests staying nearby, making it hard to relax or get good rest during our stay. On top of that, we asked about a later checkout and were told no -- even though we offered to pay extra for the extension. A little flexibility would've gone a long way, especially given the other problems we were already dealing with. Overall, the basics just weren't handled here. I'd think twice before booking again.

The location is excellent -- less than a 5-minute walk to the gondola. They also offer ski valet right in the lobby, which makes the walk even shorter. Huge plus: boot dryers. Check-in was super easy, and we upgraded our room to one of their "condos." Just to set expectations: this isn't a full condo. It's essentially a hotel room with a small living area and a Murphy bed. Still comfortable and totally fine for what we needed. The best part of this hotel is that it's dog-friendly -- and truly dog-friendly. Any size dog, big or small, and there were dogs everywhere (including ours). There's a forested area behind the hotel that's perfect for letting your pup play in the snow. One downside: some guests don't pick up after their dogs, so there was dog poop around even though the hotel provides bag dispensers. Maybe adding more (or enforcing cleanup) would help. The price is good, the hotel is clean, but it is old -- very old -- and definitely showing its age. The hallway floors are uneven, the elevator makes some questionable noises, and nothing about it feels modern. That said, after skiing all day, the four hot tubs and heated pool are amazing and very much appreciated. I stay here for convenience, not luxury. The beds are comfortable, towels are clean, and that's honestly all we need. Plus, it's close to The Yodler, our favorite restaurant.
