This place has a decent amount of seating for a coffee shop, however it is very popular. I came here in the middle of a weekday, and by 5pm the place really filled up. Their tiramisu green matcha ice cream waffle is INCREDIBLE! I would go back for that alone. The green matcha cocoa was OK, but you could really taste the matcha mix (not mixed well) and it was lukewarm so i probably wouldn't order it again. read more

Great cafe that has replaced the spot Cafe Bene originally took. You go up to the counter to order your food and then sit down to wait for it. The food is really pretty and reasonably priced. I got the waffle with berries ($8) and it was one of the best waffles I've ever had. It comes with strawberries, blueberries, honey, granola, and butter on top. I also tried the smoked salmon and avocado on a waffle ($10). While aesthetic, I think I would've liked it traditionally on toast. The waffle was a bit too soft and flavorless to pair well with the salmon and avocado. They gave a generous portion of salmon; however, I think there could've been more avocado. I'd definitely come back again, especially for their sweet waffles. read more

Amazing aesthetics, yummy food. Wait is way too long, when I went there was only one staff member preparing food AND managing the cashier, which is crazy because the place was very popular. Love, love, love this cafe. The drinks are excellent, the waffles are delicious, and I love the atmosphere. The workers are always so friendly and prompt. In the summer, the backyard patio is the best spot to sit and enjoy an iced chai latte. read more

The brunch menu at Outro specializes in eggs, waffles, and salads. I ordered the nutella, strawberry and banana waffle. This is a definitely a dessert waffle. I didn't realize that the waffle comes with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. It was delicious, but decadent. My friend had the outro salad, with a side of potatoes. She felt the salad had more kale than anything else. I tried a potato, which was too greasy and soft for my liking. My friend also ordered a matcha latte, and had to ask that it be reheated 3x before it was actually hot. Overall adorable spot, but the food ended up being overwhelming for me, and underwhelming for my friend. read more

This cafe is great to work in! There's lots of space inside, and a nice outdoor patio in the back. I enjoyed the free WiFi and relaxing atmosphere. Matcha latte was fine and avocado bacon toast was very tasty. I look forward to going back to try the good looking waffles. read more

Love coming here! It's a few storefronts away from the Strand so I come here to read. Outdoor area is one of the nicest. I've never tried any of their brunch food but the grab and go type snacks are also pretty good. read more

I was very excited to try this place and upon ordering was extremely overwhelmed because there are so many good options. I went with a group so we had a bit of everything and the consensus was the eggs Benedict can be avoided but the eggs toast and the waffle (with any topping) are the ones to try. First time coming, and probably the last time I'm ever coming. You're working in the food and beverage industry. Act like you at least give a fuck about your job. Came in no greetings no nothing. Ordered my food, a Caucasian lady wearing a black T-shirt with glasses took my order and literally threw my change on the counter like I was a beggar, gave me a ripped dollar bill as well. Not only that but I ordered my food at the same time as my friends, they got their food before me AND people that came after got their food before mine. Honestly don't fucking work in the hospitality industry if you can't do it. On top of that if you're looking for a place to study don't come here lol the internet is trash. Gonna waste your first half an hour just trying to get where you need using the WiFi here. read more

Found this place while searching for places near Union Square on Yelp to have lunch after spending a few hours in Barnes & Noble with my cousin on a Sunday. I decided to check it out since it was close by and wanted to try something new. Another factor was the appealing pictures. It was fairly fully when we arrive around 2:30pm. There are few seats in the front and more in the back. And this place may look familiar since it used to be Café Benne. We ordered ricotta berry waffle and salmon eggs benedict. And if you are to check in during the promotion period on yelp you can get either a free cup of coffee or tea. The ricotta berry waffle came out first along with the tea we got when we checked in. The waffle looked really colorful with the strawberry, blueberries, and pieces of granola on top of the ricotta along with a flower and honey drizzled on top of everything. When we tried it after waiting a couple of minutes because we wanted a picture with all the food, but I do not suggest you to do that because the waffle will get cold and it will not taste good and the salmon egg Benedict will take longer because it needs to be cooked. The waffle was light and fluffy while the fruits were sweet. The ricotta was a bit heavy for me towards the halfway mark because the middle of the waffle had a thicker layer compared to the sides. Not long afterwards, the salmon egg Benedict was ready. The dish came on a log shaped plate made of some wood material reminding me of a ship. The salmon egg Benedict was place on on side of the pate and next to that was small cup of chicken noddle soup, salad and pasta. The idea of have the soup in a tea cup was very cute. The whole dish tasted good, but the top half of the top half of the salmon egg Benedict was a little bland to me. This could be because beets were used in the hollandaise sauce so it is not as rich as it could be but it is a healthier alternative. The egg was almost well done so that was a bit disappointing because I expected a runny egg for egg Benedict. Moving to the salmon I think they gave a big piece per muffin and it wasn't salty so it would keep you nice and full after finishing the whole plate without feeling thirsty. Going back to the shape of the plate, while the shape is very creative, it may be a bit difficult to cut the egg Benedict in due to limited space so remove the cup of soup first and then start cutting. Overall, I think this is a nice place to sit down, relax, and grab something to eat or drink. Seating can be a bit limited if you come busy a busy time, so if you are going with another person have him or her grab a seat first and take pictures of the menu to order. They have some unique drink flavors which I didn't get to try so I think I would come back to try those when I am in the area. read more

This place has my 3 favorite things: good food, cheap food, and consistency. I've been here a few times, and I have never left dissatisfied. Aside from the fact that the food is Instagram gold, it tastes really good too. It's always fresh, always well presented, and well thought out. Their chicken and waffles is a favorite of mine, but most recent I tried their panini and soup lunch deal (8 bucks) and it was really delicious too. The staff could be a bit more helpful with lending insight into favorites, because I personally found the menu a bit overwhelming. But really this is a fantastic casual breakfast or lunch spot, that has plenty of space to bring a laptop and work, or to just hang with a friend and grab some tasty beautiful food. read more

I love the vibes of this cafe~~ the interior is very big with a variety of seating in the front & back. Coming for brunch on the weekends or dessert is the best! Their waffles with ice cream are such a yummy treat, and on the weekends, my favorite thing is the salmon benedict with beet hollandaise. The cafe vibes are cute and cozy, reminds me of korean cafes . There's wifi offered on the weekdays, not on the weekends. read more

I just had an awful experience here for reasons totally unbeknownst to me. I'm a low-key dude and very rarely attract bad energy but I felt obliged to share my story... I walked in at 9 pm (they close at 10) for a coffee. I asked for a small drip ($2.75) and the barista just snapped back, "We don't have that. You can take americano ($4.25) or latte (I don't even wanna guess lol)." I was like, well, ok, "I can have the americano at the same price as the coffee, correct?" since that's the norm in situations like this, but I thought I'd ask anyway... figured it might help to take the edge off a little bit. But roared back even worse "Pfft! No. You pay full price." So now I'm being forced to pay a $1.50 premium for something I don't even want. How did I walk into this. Keep in mind that I'm not hard to get along with and not showing her any attitude. Honestly. If I was, I might even deserve that kind of response. But I wasn't. As a NYer, I have better things to do than argue with a barista. My next question was, "Ok, what do you have for the same price as the coffee, I'm not looking to break the bank here-" and before I even get the words out of my mouth, she rips me another hole, "You have cash?! Because $5 minimum to use card." I mean, yes, I was fully planning to pay with cash, but the fact that she didn't even answer my question and went straight on an assault about her debit policy was just ridic. I said, "Ok you're having a bad day, I'm going to leave now." So I did. I'd never been to Outro before. And I'll obvs never go again. But as someone who's lived in the village for 13 years I can tell you, this is the kind of service we don't need. Hopefully it's the exception to the rule at this joint but I don't know. If you're looking for a quick coffee, you might be better served to hit up The Bean at 10th St & Broadway (they just moved there- used to be almost next door to Outro) or Think at 13th & 4th. But Outro didn't deserve my money and I reckon they don't deserve yours either. FWIW, they have a lot of space in the back but I'm not sure it matters if you're being treated like I was. New and hot brunch / cafe on broadway: if you haven't see this place popping everywhere on instagram...well you should have. Unfortunately it is too cold now in NYC so the seating is limited. We got the Salmon Benedict and Mocha Tiramisu waffle- both are bomb. My absolutely personal fave is the matcha bomb: iced matcha with a shot of espresso; the perfect taste of caffeine heaven. Very unique coffee options here. It was hard to choose, but I ended up getting the taro iced coffee, which pretty much tasted like ice cream. That is some damn thick creamer, and so sweet!! (Not that that's a bad thing, if that's what you're going for.) I usually like my coffee black or with almond milk so I was surprised at how much I actually enjoyed this. I couldn't drink it every day (for that and also the fact that it was $5) but I'm glad I got it. It was also super aesthetically pleasing, which is a huge plus. The outdoor seating here is really nice, too. It looks small from the outside but there's plenty of space. Great place to meet with friends and sit outside on a nice day. Would definitely recommend! read more

Really liked this cafe for doing work and reading. Got a tea and greenwich (avocado egg and pesto), sat down at one of the tables, and read for a few hours. Wonderful environment! I used to come here often when it was Caffe Bene. I was sad to see it close and reopened as a different cafe....at first. Gave this new place a shot and wow, talk about an upgrade. Tastier coffee, plentiful food options, friendlier staff. I enjoy setting Outro as a meeting spot with friends and to see their reactions to what theyre offered with. This place is amazing. Super chill vibe, great music, delicious food, and friendly staff. Met a friend here for breakfast and got the Bacavo Toast and French toast. Iced coffee was good as well. Great spot to catch up over some delicious noms. Love their sign that says "No WiFi. Talk to each other like it's 1995" (or something to that effect). read more

So that's kind of confusing. Ambience in line and ordering = chaotic. The line is quick in terms of when it is your turn, KNOW what you want. Because you have like 5 seconds to order and that's it. I ordered the special (the spicy rice, lamb and chicken combo, extra white sauce, 3 squirts of hot sauce, and a topped with fries). $13 in total. I would like to say, advice to folks to know what you want before you come. I did not look at menu options beforehand and I did fairly little research so I honestly did not know what to order, just looked at some google reviews and pictures. That is going to help you, in case you do not want the typical lamb and chicken combo. To the food - 1st - they don't care how much hot sauce you want. they're making these bowls in the masses and are just giving you a single squirt so they can make 20 bowls all at the same time. I was hoping for more spice in what I ordered, but it was very slightly spicy. I'm not sure if they let you serve yourself to more, but I'd definitely want more of the hot sauce. 2nd - I didn't taste any spice in the spicy rice. I'm not sure if, again, due to the fast production that it all just taste like regular rice? but didn't see what the hype was there. 3rd - I genuinely think the white sauce is what brings it all together. The chicken was OK to me. I didn't think it was anything special, and would give it a 3 out of 5. texture was OK, flavor was OK... the lamb definitely stole the show. The lamb was absolutely flavorful and full of delicious spices. This reminded me of what I've had in Dubai. Very rich in flavor and just the perfect amount of spices. Overall, I think if you wait for your food to cool down like 20 minutes, you'll get to taste the flavors more. Everything hot together, for me, just didn't allow me to really absorb all the food. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.

Nonetheless, this slice was delicious. Hot, melty gooey cheese and lots of pepperoni overload. Crust is divine. I could just eat that by itself. Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. You order through an iPad which has a beautiful menu.

I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable.
