That's what you expect when you're paying barbecue prices. Sadly, none of that showed up here. The brisket and burnt ends were the biggest disappointment. Instead of having that dark bark and beautiful smoke ring you expect from meat that's been smoked low and slow, everything looked gray and lifeless. There was no smoke flavor, no seasoning, and worst of all, the meat was dry. Not slightly dry, but the kind where you need sauce just to get it down. Burnt ends are usually the highlight of a barbecue meal, crispy outside with juicy, tender meat inside. These were just dry chunks with no caramelization or flavor payoff. The sausage didn't help things either. Overall, nothing about the meal felt homemade or smoked. It felt mass produced and rushed, missing the flavor and texture that make barbecue special in the first place. What made the experience even worse is the price. Spending around $40 on a pound of meat, expecting quality barbecue, and getting dry, bland food instead. For that price, you expect memorable barbecue, not something you regret ordering halfway through the meal. The food was so disappointing that I ended up throwing most of it away and going somewhere else afterward just to get a decent meal. That's something I almost never do, especially after paying premium prices.

These are fry-bread type fritters, filled with huge chunks of lobster and cheese and deep fried. Absolute heaven. The baked beans were filled with bacon and the flavor of the love that went into making these traditional favorite. Karen, the owner, is the real deal. A nor'easter to the bone, and she loves enlightening the uninitiated to the ways of Boston, whether it's her wicked awesome food, her New England Patriots paraphernalia (You'll forgive her quickly once you taste her food), or her super friendly nature. Everything was amazing. The spicy green chile is actually spicy. I rarely think restaurant food is spicy and this one was. It was unbelievable good. We drove down to Alidade Brewing in Castle Rock last week to give them another visit. My wife got the Elk Slopper burger with spicy chili, and I got the Elk Patty Melt. We got our dog an elk party, and she wolfed it down like she hadn't eaten in a week. Hard to say which lunch either of us preferred, but they were both worth five stars. The owners are as nice as can be, very enthusiastic about their business, and very pleasant to talk to. We will happily return to this excellent mobile restaurant when they're serving customers at a brewery near us.

For $20 each, this was two meals and well worth it for both of us. My son got the quesadilla which he finished every bite of, not the norm for him.
