My friend and I were trying to decide on lunch and came across Over The Counter. We've been looking for a new place to eat since we tried everything near by. I won't lie, at first we were skeptical but we just went for it! First off the pictures do NO justice. Just come try it! The pretzels are 1000000/10. Our sever Sam is PHENOMENAL. When we got there we were 1 of three tables and after that the entire patio filled up. She handled it like a complete champ!! We had a lovely dinner on the patio. We started with some pretzel bites on our waitress's recommendation. They were magical. The beer cheese sauce was really good. I had the patty melt which was quite good, while my wife had the fish and chips. The batter was a bit thick on her fish, but everything else was terrific. We look forward to going back. read more

We checked this place out on a whim. We had a long busy morning with the kids and the family needed to stop somewhere for a quick meal. After our first bite, my husband said "Add this place to the list" aka the short list of places to go eat. Service was fast and friendly. The menu was familiar with local and some artisanal twists. For example the turkey club was served on tomato swirl bread made by Lucky Cat Bakery. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and I had slight food envy; pulled pork on a perfect bun with two thick onion rings stacked on top. He let me have a bite. It was pretty amazing. The Kids Menu is limited but does the trick. We are kind of rare in that our kids like eating salads and broccoli, but our sever was happy to swap things out for us (broccoli instead of fries) Cute decor, a few TVs to watch sports, booths and chairs--a little bit of something for everybody. We actually drove a fair distance out of our way to eat here on Sunday as we made our way home from Hocking Hills. After perusing the menus of several restaurants brunch options, this was the only one my husband and I were both interested in. We arrived a little after noon on a Sunday and I was worried it'd be madness trying to get a table, but it wasn't. They were busy, but not excessively so. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and isn't particularly alluring, and The parking situation did seem a tad limited, but we were able to find a spot in their lot without much trouble. We walked in and noticed on their letter board sign that you are to seat yourself. The interior looked cute, but we decided to dine outside. We grabbed the last available table and were promptly greeted and given a water pitchers, glasses and menus. I ordered the pesto egg sandwich while my husband selected the breakfast burger with house potatoes. We also asked for an order of the donut kebabs as an appetizer. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was hot and delicious. The kebabs were fabulous--who doesn't love a fresh donut?! I felt like my egg sandwich was not aesthetically appealing, but it truly was yummy and the bacon on it was cooked perfectly. The breakfast burger my husband got was hilariously difficult to eat, but he enjoyed it. Our server was decent. Not bad, not amazing. If I lived in the area, I'd most definitely come back! read more

Welcome to the neighborhood!!! This place is a short bike ride from the village of Worthington just north of clintonville. I was surprised the inside had so much seating! There are big screen TVs a large bar and plenty of tables. They also have an nice size patio. We got the patty melt and fish sandwich. Both were delicious!! Sweet and Spicy BLT was really damn good, that bacon though! Although I didn't like the Turkey Club that much. The mushroom vegetable soup was amazing. I actually ordered the Tortilla soup but they brought it to me by accident and I tried it anyway and could of kept it. I should have, because it was WAY better than the Tortilla Soup. I have been wanting to try Over the Counter for a long time. Eclectic place with an old school clock and rotary phone that still works. The have great burgers with the "Mad" Sauce, but kept it simple with the Patty Melt. All the sandwiches offer local chips; but get the Fries or what I did was the Onion Rings with my Patty Melt. I enjoyed my Patty Melt with grilled onions, Swiss Cheese, and thousand island dressing that made the Patty Melt delicious. I will try their wings when I go to Over the Counter again. This is the equivalent of an upscale greasy spoon--and that's a compliment because I love finding local greasy spoons. Great coffee that is perfectly dark but not-too-dark and cage-free eggs. Other the Counter is a new bar/ diner that has opened in the strip center next to St. Michael's Church in Worthington Ohio. It is a brand new buildout in a worn out strip center. It appeals to the Old Worthington crowd with diner / bar food and beer drinking inspiration. The buildout is new but has the feel more of a diner than a bar. I am disappointed on the feel of this space since it was built brand new. I feel like I'm sitting more at a diner counter than at a bar, so maybe an identity problem. After sitting at the bar the server soon told us of the happy hour beer special and gave us a food menu. The bar special is 1/2 all beer from 5-7PM including drafts, cans, and bottles. No exceptions I believe. The food menu is pretty standard. Not trying to be eclectic or reinventing anything. Included wings, burgers, sloppy joe's, club sandwich, etc. I believe they serve brunch on the weekend. Ended up ordering a combo appetizer which had mini corn dogs, chicken tenders, and breadsticks. All of the items tasted good and was homemade cooked to order food. My only complaint was that the mini corn dogs came from a real hot dog, and to me was too thick and rich. A lot of craft beers and domestic. Decent selection. No complaints. All in all, and easy place to hang out. Food not too special, but homemade. A lot of beer selection. Good service. Came here for some quality diner style food. Restaurant was packed, but the service speed didn't really reflect it. Ordered the chicken and waffles, and the donut Kebabs as an appetizer. The chicken was very good. Crispy fries and not overly oily. The waffles were also good, but were fluffy over being more dense. I like a slightly heavier waffle, but that's just me. The donut kebabs were excellent with the fresh strawberry slices and dipping sauce. A good solid diner, but was very loud. I'd expect it's a pretty happening place whenever they are open. read more

My taste maybe a bit more elevated as my experience was nowhere close to what I've read in some of the reviews. Overall, the food is mid and there isn't enough thought that goes into elevating it. My wife ordered coffee which tasted pretty bland so she only ordered onion rings to avoid more dissatisfaction. I ordered the Patty melt. The meat was pretty low quality and dry and I didn't really taste the flavor of the cheese or thousand island dressing. They could've used better quality bread like a fresh sourdough. Maybe because a lot of other customers are satisfied, there isn't effort being put into cooking quality ingredients. I could make a better patty melt at home. As for service, the bartender waited on us and things were okay for the most part. But we had to wait quite a while to get our bill because she was occupied chatting with customers at the bar. I finally just had to walk up to the bar to close my order and the bartender didn't seem to please that I was interrupting her conversation with two of the customers. Not planning on coming back. All I can say is I'm glad I came. We were in a quandary about where to go when a favorite Mexican place was closed on a Sunday. We were debating the same-old, same-old. Thanks to the Yelpers this place popped up for consideration. Well we trekked across town; only 15 minutes, but it's funny how small our travel circles are getting. We had just moved into the Colonial Hills area of Worthington last fall, and visited Over the Counter. Our initial impression was very good! THEN, we went back six months later. They had revamped the menu, and started sourcing local OH-IO produce, meats, and basically had farm to table going. The difference from our first visit to now is unbelievable! They were ready to cook me a new batch of Fries but I mustered through (although they were not my favorite). Burger was ok. Lacking some flavor on the meat. Everything else was pretty standard. Ran in for a late lunch yesterday. Wanted something healthy but filling. The menu at Over The Counter has quite a variety of interesting and different as well as familiar comfort foods. I chose the Thai chicken peanut soup and a spinach salad. Everything is made from scratch and always so fresh! I also decided to add the fresh cut fries as a side dish. Our server was friendly and attentive and our food came out within minutes. Such a delicious and inviting restaurant! They also have a Sunday brunch that's beyond delicious.
