On average, I give this place 4/5. The service could definitely use a pick me up though. Everyone acted like they hated their jobs. We were new to the whole experience, which was completely obvious. She didn't even try and help us understand how everything works. I ended up getting f something I could have went without. My boyfriend was sooooo goood though. One of the best local places for Milk tea in the greater Seattle area. It can be a pain to get to this location if you aren't a local, but it will most likely be worth the trip. Hidden in a plaza, far in the corner, right by a Qfc and a busy road, it can be a bit difficult to spot. The sole reason I go here is actually for the Frozen Milk drinks. They are the only place I know of that sell this. Caramel/brown sugar with milk drinks are pretty common, but this place uses frozen milk! Its basically a milk slushy. The change in texture makes all the difference to me. I recommend getting the Frozen Milk with brown sugar , boba (I assume they use honey boba) and pudding. Their bobas are perfectly soft and chewy. The boba is added while still warm so they dont become hard sitting under the frozen milk. Their milk teas have a nice balance of milk and tea. Believe it or not my biggest gripe is probably with the plastic fork that it came with. It's like those flimsy SPORKS I used to get w/ my elementary hot lunch meals! The fork couldn't easily break off the little waffles and eventually what I feared would happen..happened - I was trying to break off a single round piece of the waffle and the fork just kept bending at the shaft to the point it transformed itself into a mini catapult...finally, I put enough stress on the fork where it broke the waffle piece, CATAPULTING IT OUT OF THE CUP and into the air like NASA launching a satellite out of Earth's atmosphere and upon re-entry, crash landed on the ocean floor of this shop. A white guy standing and waiting for his drink saw it happen in real time and I looked at him shamefully as he looked back at me awkwardly. Please invest in better plastic forks FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAN! A waffle round could've taken my eye out (had it also broken through my glasses)! For $9 I'll go to my beloved Costco and get 6 non-fat froyo cups for the same price...and not have to worry about near death experiences involving flying waffle shaped projectiles. I decided to take a peek and was politely welcomed by a sweet gal. She explained the menu (choose a type of beverage, followed by a flavor and/or toppings!) I opted for the traditional milk tea with boba. I told her I didn't want it too sweet, so she said 75% sweetness would be perfect. And she was right! The Renton highlands is sure growing. I wish there had been a bubble tea shop when I was growing up in the area. I'd be their #1 customer! The place is very cute. It's a small storefront, but it's bright and well decorated with ample seating. When I walked in I was offered a sample of their most popular drink which was the ordinal milk tea. I had another drink in mind but after trying it I was sold! It was a bit sweet for me, which is saying a lot because I never lower the sugar amount in my bubble tea. I got boba with my drink in the short fat cup. I'm not sure if it's because I came later in the evening but the boba wasn't very soft and it was extra chewy. I also didn't like that the ice was crushed up because I would get different size chunks of it when drinking through the straw. There's a lot of variety on their menu. They even have yogurt slushies which isn't something I've seen at other bubble tea shops. They also have caramel and vanilla latte as a topping. Not sure what that's all about but another unique item I saw on the menu. I think this place has great potential and adds great variety to the area. So happy that there's now a boba shop in the Renton Highlands (sorry, wallet). With that said, this place is a great little addition to the QFC plaza. The vanilla/sea salt latte topping is just a layer of cream on top of your drink, which I think is a growing trend in the boba world. The sea salt one isn't as salty as I'd like it, and the vanilla latte is a little too sweet for my liking.. but my boyfriend loves the sea salt. - "Rainbow" milk tea (4/5) is my go-to. This is what they call their jasmine milk tea. The only reason that I'm not giving it a 5 is because it's been a little inconsistent. Some days it's too sweet, some days it's not sweet enough. - Rose green milk tea (3/5) - Wasn't a huge fan, but it was decent. - Strawberry green milk tea (4/5) - yummy!!! But a little too sweet for me. - Guava black tea (3/5) - pretty good, but the guava tasted a little too artificial. - Boba!!! And top of that, it was about $6.50 before tip, I've never had a non-alcoholic drink cost this much. But the menu is easy to look at and order, they have more variety than a lot of places because you can probably make a different combo with any flavor and toppings. I always finish my drinks, but I drank a little more than a quarter before I tossed mine. I ordered the Honey Green Milk Tea which to me, is a very safe drink. Even if the tea sucks, the honey usually saves it but not for this place. It was bland, tasted watered down, and had a weird aftertaste. You could compare the taste to a bland version of black herbal jelly. The girl in the front taking the order was rude. I worked in a boba shop too and I get the frustration when a customer comes in late, but we had about 25 minutes before they closed. Everyone in my group was disappointed with their drinks. Wow, let me first say I'm glad I don't live close by cause if I did, I would be here more often and my wallet wouldn't appreciate that very much. My family and i decided to stop by here after lunch and I am so glad we did. They have their top 10 drinks posted which makes it easier for those that are not familiar with the drinks they carry. I noticed almond milk tea with sea salt latte was on there. Almond milk tea is usually my go to, so I was definitely intrigued and decided to go with that one. Boy was I happy with my drink. The combination was just perfect and the drink looked pretty cool too. My son got the lychee green tea with aloe and lychee jelly and I thought his drink was pretty good too. They only have one drink size and it is a fat 24 oz cup. We tried the green milk tea with grass jelly and the sweetness level was perfect! The grass jelly could be softer, though. They let us sample their black milk tea and it was way too sweet, but you can customize the sweetness level. You can also customize the flavor of the milk tea or slush. The sea salt latte part is this heavy salty cream on top. It was ok. PRICING Slightly pricier than the average bubble tea considering some of the drinks don't immediately come with a topping included in the price. The specialty drinks are also on the pricier side when compared to other specialty drinks served in other bubble tea places. SERVICE They're very friendly, and they offer games for people who just wanna mingle in the shop while they enjoy their bubble tea. Nothing bad from my end in terms of customer service or any kind of interaction with the staff. QUALITY It's pretty tasty. Their bubble tea does not have a lot of emphasis on the tea aspect, but it does not mean that their drinks are bad since I've enjoyed most of the items I've tried. The toppings are also good, since some places may have tougher boba or super soggy boba that practically sticks to your straw for whatever reason - only downside is sometimes you gotta pay for it instead of the topping simply being included in the price. When it comes to drinks though, I would recommend any one of their six top drinks unless you're not very adventurous and wanna play it safe with something you know you're comfortable with. OVERALL It's a nice little shop that has a pretty good atmosphere for anyone there. The workers are friendly, and the drinks are good. Again, some people don't like the idea of paying more for toppings since a lot of people assume the drink came with a topping of your choice. My friend and I spontaneously came here after hearing about it from Yelp and we happened to be around the area. It is located in the Renton Highlands by the QFC complex. The store was a lot bigger than I thought inside! The layout was very cute, it had a modern feel to it. There's a list by the register that shows the most ordered drinks if you have no idea what to order so that helped me and my friend out a lot. It reads from right to left though if you do get initially confused. My milk tea with boba was delicious! The "normal" amount of sweetness was prefect for me. I forgot the name of the drink my friend got, I think it had roses in it and it definitely tasted like flower, which was pretty interesting to me but she liked it so that's all that mattered. We ordered the frozen caramel milk tea with taro pudding and boba (SOOO GOOD!), matcha milk smoothie with boba (classic fav, always good) and rose milk tea with lychee jelly (for the first time with this combo, it was really tasty!). The boba we had was soft, chewy and tasted fresh. The cute short fat cups are adorable. This tea bar is very generous with the toppings. I cannot stand running out of boba towards the end of my drink.
