I really enjoyed my visit to the Frosty Barrel after a hike at Coal Creek park. The service was SO friendly and super helpful. I noticed on their website that they have hot cocoa flights but that wasn't indicated on the menu in-house. A staff member explained that they're moving away from that to streamline their cocoa recipe and just focus on the ice cream flights instead. They also acknowledged that the online menus need to be updated. That was fine with me because the s'mores hot chocolate I ordered instead was one of the best I've ever had. The toasted marshmallow fluff on top was perfect and lasted the whole time I enjoyed the drink. I really liked that because usually with whipped cream, that just dissolves after a while, but this way, you get a taste of toasty marshmallow with every sip. On the staff's recommendation, I also ordered the prosciutto sandwich, which comes with chips, and that was delicious, too! I had a taste of the cherry amaretto chocolate chip ice cream and salted caramel banana sundae and those were so good. The ice cream (Snoqualmie ice cream) is super smooth and excellent quality. I really don't think you can go wrong here. The inside is a fast casual vibe and they have a fireplace table, which is a neat touch. I love coming by for the ice cream (snoqualmie ice cream) the selection is a decent amount for the local area. I really like the quality of the ice cream. I haven't really tried anything else but the ice cream. But I appreciate the fire place that they have there. I'm always susceptible to unique hot chocolate. The Dubai Hot Chocolate was tasty. I think I would try a different one next time but it was good. I expected more of a sit down or different ambiance inside from the website, and it's definitely more of a fast casual vibe, but that's fine. Just know what you're getting if you go. Service was fine and attentive. To be fair, there was no one else in there and there people working so it would have been awkward if not. Overall, unique concept and some tasty options. I love the concept here of pairing booze with ice cream! It's so tasty. I got to try some fall hot chocolate too and I fell in love with the caramel chai. It paired well with the salted caramel ice cream. I also tried some of their flatbreads and was not super in love with the flatbread that had sausage with butternut squash and nuts. Based on their website, the experience was completely different than we expected. We thought this was going to be more like a sit-down restaurant where we would be served by a server, not a quick-serve restaurant. So that was a big blow since it was our family bonding outing. We do quickly adjust though. We sat at the nice fireplace but it is obviously not used as such since it had tea light candles in it, which were not lit (they never last long if they were). They had 4 flavors of dairy-free ice cream, 2 of which were sorbet. Of the 2 ice cream, only one was gluten-free (peppermint brownie which was very good). They said they always have 4 DF options. Being gluten-free really limited us since we could not get any of the platters since they had too much gluten. So we decided to get sundaes. They did have a GF brownie so was able to have one, although the brownie was not very good - definitely tastes "GF." We had the hot chocolate flight DF (with oat milk) and felt like they were all just okay so they werent a normal experience would be...which we were told would have milk, whipped cream and additional toppings on the whipped cream. So, all in all, with dietary restrictions, I would say maybe go for the 4 ice cream / sorbet options but other than that skip it since it is underwhelming. For someone that can eat normally, I cant really comment on what the food experience is like. read more

This is our new go-to spot for ice cream. Our child has a dairy sensitivity, and this is one of the only places we have found that has multiple dairy-free options that are not just sorbets but actual creamy, delicious ice cream! We've had both the strawberry and chocolate dairy-free/gluten-free ice creams, and today, there was even an oat latte dairy-free/gluten-free option, which we will try next time. The staff has always been friendly, and today's service was especially great. One staff member checked in with us frequently (I'm not sure, but he might have been the owner). Getting ice cream & drink pairings here was so fun! When we walked in, there was quite a line. I noticed there weren't a lot of tables and it was kinda tight seating. Guess it's a popular place! After ordering, the server was able to maneuver the tables with ease to bring our orders to us. He did have to bring them separately, though, so by the time the beer flight arrived, my salted caramel ice cream in my white wine flight had melted quite a bit. Perhaps more staff to serve tables could prevent this. Once we had both flights at the table, I joyfully noticed the presentation of each drink with their ice cream right in front of them, and the card that labels what you are getting, with short descriptions of the drinks. We were excited to get to it! It was awesome to compare & contrast the pairings, then decide which we liked best. I didn't love all the flavors (ube definitely could've been better), but my focus was more on how well the drinks & ice creams went with each other. I personally loved the brightness of the Pinot gris with what I think was the raspberry sorbet (I'll explain later), and the buttery notes of the Chardonnay were awesome with the salted caramel ice cream. As far as beer pairings, the peanut butter stout went wonderfully with the Mukilteo Mudd ice cream. I'd say the bourbon barrel stout with the Tennessee whiskey ice cream was a close second. The reason I was confused about the wine flight's raspberry sorbet is because there was a sorbet in the beer flight that was also called "raspberry sorbet", but it looked and tasted different. I think there was a labeling mistake. Overall, I was really happy with our experience. When I'm ready for another alcohol/sugar rush, I'd love to come back to try the red wine flight & hot chocolate flight. read more

On a whim, I pulled into the Frosty Barrel to get out of the traffic when I was heading home. It's a very cute shop with sweet servers and some interesting ice cream options.
