Just when i think this place can't get any worse....they continue to prove me wrong ‍ I'm giving one star for its location to the beach and another star because the food is pretty good....when they actually get your order correct....and when you aren't waiting 45 minutes for the one French fry you ordered... I have been coming here for at least 15 years with my husbands family and it used to be such a great place...I don't know what happened but the fact that 10 year olds run the snack bar area during the day is one of them...the disorganization of taking orders, remembering if they rang you up, getting the orders to you...in full...with the correct items, is just horrible. My family had I'd say half the orders we placed this week wrong it took me about ten minutes to get one water ice the one day and I was about to reach through the window and scoop my own out because I honestly don't think anyone would of noticed if I did. the biggest ordeal of the week that just completely put me over the edge was when I ordered an 8 lb bag of ice that they advertise for $4, good deal...however, they managed to surprise me yet again and screw that up by not being able to find the bags the ice go in!! Two kids spent at least a solid five minutes aimlessly walking around looking for the bags. Why are these bags not under or around the ice machine you ask? Beats me!! I mean that would be the most logical place to put them....but despite the efforts of the dazed looking kids that work there and me having to listen to music that was spewing out "motherf***ing" this and "motherf***ing" that as I waited with 4 children...I still was without ice. So I politely asked the kid who rang me up for my ice that I was apparently not getting now, for a shopping bag full of ice so I could fill my cooler and call it a day...he was polite enough to offer my money back which I gladly accepted and would of asked for anyways if he didn't. The only reason this place stays open is because of convenience to the beach....whoever runs this place should be ashamed of how horrible the customer service is. I'm speaking mainly for the snack bar area as I haven t eaten in the restaurant in a couple years because of the day service at the snack bar. I mean I know you know you are the only place that can apparently sell food within a certain space from that beach, but please have some respect for all the people who continue to come here....despite the fact that they know they are taking a chance they won't get what they ordered anyways. read more

Really excellent...food, service and location. Dinner here for the holiday weekend with family. A very large group. They handled things just perfectly. The views of the ocean from some of the seats are as good as the food was. Had the mixed seafood grill, and I would go there again and again just for that dish. I believe this is a BYOB place, so if you are going there, make sure that you bring your own wine/beer. read more

We love the donuts here! In our opinion, they are the best on the boardwalk. Nothing can beat eating looking out over the beach. The flounder Oves is wonderful for dinner. You can also rent bikes and surrreys here. read more

We ate here two years ago and had a mediocre experience. The wait staff seemed to care little about the customers, and even sat at a table nearby talking while we were waiting for service. But the location is so convenient, and has a great ocean view, that we decided to give it another chance. We went for lunch and by 1:00 when we arrived they were out of all seafood, all sides except fries, cheese, and even mayo! What kind of restaurant runs out of even the most basic items? My daughter ordered chocolate milk, and when she complained it was white milk, the server told her to stir it up! They couldn"t even bother to do it themselves. What food we were able to get was ok, not great, and way over-priced, especially for the inconvenience we experienced. read more

Terrible breakfast at Oves. Waited for an incredibly long time to get served, even though I saw several waiters just talking amongst themselves not doing anything. They even messed up the ices coffee and tea, tasted very bad. Finally got food, it was awful. Scrambled eggs tasted old and the home fries were rubbery, and everything was very cold including the toast. Had to wait ages for the cheque as there was nobody around. Not once did our waiter come and ask us if we needed anything/to ask if everything was alright. To top it all off it is incredibly overpriced food. Avoid at all costs. read more

This place is astonishing... from the counter guys to the cooks... hands down amazing. I have been coming to this place since I was 2 years old I'm 47 now!! The donuts were superb and if I saw the the one tall curly haired cook I would give him a tip. The cheeseburgers were fantastic and the fries had the perfect amount of salt and had an amazing crispy look. When I bite into the cheeseburger I can taste the sensational flavor! read more

We had a delightful dinner there on Saturday night. Oves is exactly what you want for a seaside restaurant- great view of the ocean and a soft ocean breeze, delicious food, prompt, efficient service, and genuinely nice people! Brewed iced tea would be nicer than the instant that was served. read more

We ate at Oves several times on a recent visit, breakfast is definitely a better choice. Our fried flounder sandwiches at lunch were very dry. French fries and cole slaw were disappointing as well. we went twice for breakfast and both times pancakes and eggs with potatoes were good but not great. I will preface this by saying that this restaurant is cash only and the customer is expected to be aware of this because of a small sign located behind the register. Unfortunately, that register was located along the wall that is not in line of sight of anyone using the proper ingress route. Anyway, came for breakfast and they didn't have egg whites or Swiss cheese. I settled for American cheese in my omelet as that was the only cheese that they had. Food was not hot when it came out. Food tasted okay but really how hard is it to make an omelet. read more

Stopped in for breakfast this morning before our drive home. From eggs to waffles to sos everything was yummy. They don't accept credit cards for breakfast, they may not accept them at all but the menu specifically stated not for breakfast. We sat out on the covered deck so we had to deal with some annoying flies but other than that breakfast and donuts were awesome read more

We heard lots of good things and started going here last year. After half dozen visits it became our favorite place to eat in OC. Staff is always friendly. Great seafood and everything is fresh. Cant wait for them to open in 2016. read more

Yeah, it was OK. Went for dinner, a party of 8 was seated quickly around 7:30 pm. The waitress was efficient and granted, she was the messenger who had to inform us that they were out of several entrees and sides, including baked potatoes -- was the busiest night they had all season so she got a pass on that but the restaurant, not so much. Granted it was late June, the first half of 4th of July week end but how do you run out of baked potatoes. We managed ... But then it got strange when we asked for 2 separate checks, was informed they don't do that and it's all over the menu, which it isn't. And really, how can asking for separate checks be such an unusual request? But she said she'd do separate checks for us, this one time. When we asked if she was worried about separate checks resulting in the 'guaranteed' 18% gratuity that's added to checks for parties of 8 or more not being added, we said we'd guarantee the 18%. Her response was 'no, she doesn't like the 18% being added because she's worth more than 18%. Well after that exchange and a debate over salad dressing and who ordered what, or more specifically who didn't order what, we concluded she's not worth more than 18%. The food was OK, service OK and the location very convenient. However, wouldn't rush back ... Maybe it was a bad night. read more

We have gone to Oves for many years and have really looked forward to going when we are on vacation. We went there Tuesday night, July 28th. Upon arriving there was no one to greet us or seat us. When we walked up to the window, we asked if anyone was there to seat us the girl said "Uh, it will be a couple of minutes, we are not very busy." Does that make sense? Parking was terrible! When seated we had a wonderful waitress named Milda A. She was very sweet and gave very good service. The food was very good and we wanted to return for more. We went back Thursday night and found the greeting staff to be somewhat annoyed with us because we were coming in near closing. Two people had to check to see if they were still open. We asked "What time do you close?" They said 9 pm, it was 8:45 pm when we asked. We then had a waiter named Austin who, although was nice, continually got our order wrong throughout our service. I ordered their wonderful crab cake, and it was ice cold! They were out of baked potatoes, again, and also out of salad! Finally, Austin, got it right and said that we won't charge you for your crab cake, gave us a new one that was cooked (saving grace). We are worried about our Oves and want to help get this restaurant back. Please pray for them. read more
