We have been coming to Owens every year on vacation for the past 3 years and it never fails to be a good time! Although it is always crowded, the bartenders and waitresses are always very attentive and quick about taking your order or getting a drink. There are numerous TVs that line the walls around the bar and today they had the Olympics, Eagles, and Phillies playing so you can watch multiple sporting events at one time and aren't stuck on one single channel. We missed the happy hour specials by a few minutes (they end at 8pm) but they have different food specials daily that last until closing. I had the California cheeseburger today and it was fantastic! Although we ate at the bar there is a sit down option in the adjoining room. You can find free parking in their lot or along the street. Beer and drink prices are very reasonable. We stayed at a rental unit a block from this pub and we couldn't have picked a better location. We went several times over a week for both dinner and/or drinks. Do not come here! This place is full of local regulars that feel entitled to specific bar stools and will come up and take it from under you. We had multiple confrontations with different individuals. We had a great bartender (John) but I guess when they changed shift a really nasty b*tch came on and was friends with many of the people trying to take our bar stools and give us a hard time. We were tipping EXTREMELY well! And then when my girlfriend was leaning forward to talk with me, a women snuck In and slid her right off the stool. This started yet another confrontation. It's as if we had a target on our back because it was quizzo night! On a Saturday!!This women then called the bartender on first name basis and said "get them out of here". And that is what happened. We were forced out of the bar after we gave them 100s of dollars. If you are interested in cheap booze, and unfriendly staff and sub-par food this is your place. While they only charge a dollar for a pint of beer the service is slightly off due to the sheer volume of customers. They have a $1.95 cheese steaks for Monday, however, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for meat was sub par and roll was soggy and not a real steak roll. Sadly addended the owens pub tonight , august 13th, for my first AND LAST time ever because it was recommended by a family friend for their CHEAP food. And when I say cheap....... I mean poor quality food was almost revolting and the customer service was 100x worse. The old dyke looking hostess with short& spiky white hair and the inattentive waitress were nothing but inconsiderate , rude; and just downright horrendous. They've showed me everything i'd never want in a business or customer service experience. My party waited over an hour when we were told only 20 minutes, we asked the hostess how much longer we'd have to wait in the crowded bar with 0 remaining chairs and glasses scattered everywhere for our table and she had the nerve to put her hand in our face as if we were an inconveniece to her even though she's getting OUR SERVICE. We patiently waited and finnnnnally got seated just to get treated to more disappointments. The menus were slapped in our faces to read "no credit cards taken" which was a huge inconvenience and forced our party to place the bill on one person since nobody else had cash and we already waited over an hour. The waitress visited our table, never introduced herself, never asked how we were doing , didn't even crack a smile. We ordered and by that time i was just ready to get out. we received our food fairly quickly probably considering it was made in the microwave , which it clearly tasted like. The cheesesteak resembled dog food and had little flavor. Chicken tenders were overpriced , sparse, and had weird texture. overall , the "food" didn't even resemble anything i'd ever imagine serving to my guests, and the wait staff was truly and honestly the worst and I repeat worst that i have ever experienced in my life. I have been going to Owens pub for years and never once have I had this terrible of service. The waitress we had was extremely standoffish and rude the whole night. We received better service from the guy taking our plates away. She told us after our table had received refills on our drinks once (about five drinks) and we ordered one more that they aren't complimentary, it would of been nice to know that when we requested the first refill. She ignored us whenever we had a request and gave us an attitude when we requested her service. She was incredibly rude in every encounter we had with her, including when it came to paying the check. I was here on 7/22 around 730 with my cousin and we sat at the bar. The bald bartender came up to us and asked what we wanted and it already felt like we were bothering him, but we got our drinks. Then we asked for a menu and he basically threw it at us ( not literally) but just tossed at us. We saw it was wing night, so I asked him how many wings came in an order and he said "I don't know, stand the menu up when your ready" without even making eye contact with us. The problem was the HAIR in my wings, ask waitress if manager was around, she said no, I ask, who can I speak to regarding this matter? She said oh my, if you gonna make such a big deal over this, I'll take it off your bill. The waitress did take it off the bill, however, very nasty about it. We went to Owen's at the recommendation of others. They told us that the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. There was little wait which was good. Upon being seated we were greeted by our server who was not that pleasant. Now we are seniors and we are not loud or rude people. Anyway, one of our meals was overcooked. When we mentioned it to the server she said "well I'll tell the cook". And then nothing. Not an offer for another entry or break on the bill. So since we did not eat much of this entree, we took it home to show others and they agreed that the entree was overcooked. Also our other entree was fried shrimp. This was just okay at best. This is my first ever Yelp review and I am going out of my way to write this because I was very disappointed with my service last week while on vacation. We have been going to Owen's for YEARS, mainly because of friends, good specials and yummy crab legs. I will say in past years, the hostess can be a real PIA but I always chalked it up to how crazy her job must be with how busy they get. This year was a completely different story. We were seated and quickly came to find they no longer serve crab legs, which was disappointing. We were told it was because the prices increased and they didn't want to raise their prices and charge customers this, so I was bummed. Next, we were waiting and hungry and realized everyone around us had bread, but we did not. We waited and waited and finally asked a waitress for bread as ours never brought any (but she brought other tables some). That waitress must have told ours and she brought us bread but said she planned on bringing it with dinner and said it snarky......ok, no ones gets bread with dinner, she forgot and got cocky about it. Then she gives us a basket of bread with 3 rolls in it.....and there were 6 of us! So we asked for more and she seemed annoyed. Lastly, when we got the bill, we come to find they charged for water! And we're pretty sure it was on refills too! So they can't increase the price of crab legs but they charged appr. $1.50 for each water! We will not be going back there again and I was bummed cause we have been going for so long, it seemed like an end of an ongoing tradition. But the way our waitress acted was rude! read more

The specials are great but they will get aggravated and even sometimes say something if you dont eat it all and want to take it with you. The beer specials are great IF you sit at the bar. Be careful because if you sit 3 steps away at a table they charge you double for the beer. Obviously the specials are to get you in to buy other stuff which is fine but be careful because a glass of soda is 2.00 and refills are not free like 99.9% of other restaurants. I was there with a group of 4 and each had a soda and a refilll when the waitress asked. GOT HIT with a 16.00 charge for soda so with a 20% tip I actually paid 19.20 for soda. REALLY!!! Waitresses seem mad when you only order the specials. If I buy a 1.95 cheessteak dont worry I am not going to tip you 40 cents and maybe some people do use the low bills to tip small but dont assume everyone is like that. CHEER UP! read more

My sister and I ordered on the phone 2 caesar salads with 1 piece of salmon on each salad for lunch. We were not told the price of our meal and were not told that the salmon was going to be extra. However, I knew that added salmon would not be free. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told rudely that our two salads would cost $40. When I looked at her with confusion and asked why it was so much she told me that they charged me for the dinner entree salmon and salad. Therefore, our $6 salads ended up being $20 each. When I told her that I did not have enough money and that I would run home and get the rest, she forced me to leave the money I had so that she was sure I would come back and take the over priced salads. At this point, I was frustrated and I did not even want the salads anymore. Another customer, who witnessed her rudeness offered to pay the rest of my bill. Honestly I will never return and hope that no one has to go through an embarrassing situation like this. read more

I am from out of town. I went with my friends who own a condo here. I am vegan, and I did look at the menu online. No vegan options. However, whenever I go to a restaurant/pub that sells hoagies, they will make me a veggie one. Lettuce, tomato, onion, green peppers etc. Whatever veggies they have. I bring my own vegan mayo, and dont put cheese on it. I asked for a veggie sub. It appeared by the look on the servers face, that she had never heard of this before. First she told me they dont have vegetables. I saw a few salads on the menu, (but all had meat, cheese, bacon etc.) so I was confused. I said dont you have lettuce, tomatoes, onion etc? She was getting increasingly impatient. I asked for a hoagie with any veggies they had on hand. Again, she was confused. I said I will just have fried pickles and onion soup..though the onion soup broth is beef based and there is cheese on top. Why in this day and age, we cant have 1 vegan option on a menu. Hummus and pita chips, a frozen black bean burger you can get at any grocery store, a veggie wrap or veggie hoagie. Buffalo Wild Wings has a veggie burger. TGIF had a veggie burger. Red Robin has a veggie burger. Subway had a veggie delite sub. Cracker Barrel has a 4 veggie platter..Please train servers on different dietary lifestyles and to accomadate, and not make the person ordering feel stupid. read more

Been going to Owen's forever . Every time we hit Wildwood we head to Owen's. Watching a Phillies or Eagles game is great there the crowd really gets into it. Get there early if you want a seat at the bar for the games. Both the bar tenders and the waiting staff is great, polite and efficient. They run wonderful specials and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal, the food is always fresh, from the sandwiches to the meals. Well I dont think the food is as good as everyone says. They have a hostess there that really should not be there anymore. She is an older lady who really has an attitude. She thinks that she is doing you a favor by seating you, highly mistaken, the food and service is not that good. I believe her name is Janet, so patrons beware. Now, I love quick service but I got the feeling I was being rushed. Also, My crab cake sandwich was two small crab cakes on a bun with two slices of a small cherry tomato. Sort of surprised no one has mentioned they DO NOT take cards or debit. Strange for a foodservice establishment where the number one rule is "The customer is king!"! People today do not carry a lot of money on themselves because of the convenience of cards. I guess since they don't take cards and have a convenient ATM machine in the dining room to add salt to the wound of paying Owen's to extract money from your bank; this is a joke. The standard in the foodservice industry is customer convenience and offering no cards is a joke. And I do not want to hear about the savings passed on to the customer of the service fees from the banks and card issuers.
