I am giving Owens the benefit of the doubt because I may not have ordered its strong suit. In retrospect the meat and 3 was undoubtedly the way to go. Food was okay today but service stank. Lady behind the cash register looked like she didn't want to be at work. Never smiled. This trickled down to seeing only 1/3 of the waitress staff smile or have any real interaction with the customer. We had their roast beef sandwich special that comes with mashed potatoes. It was about one bite's worth of roast beef on each half, to total two bites of roast beef per sandwich. Don't recommend that if you're hungry. My guy wasn't pleased. It was served on white sandwich bread slathered in gravy. The potatoes were fine. People were nice. read more

I had heard this was a good restaurant with great home cooking. I guess I was there at the wrong time. Ordered cat fish was over cooked and hard. Tried there cornbread salad took one bite and bit into something hard like wood. The waitress brought me a replacement of Onion rings which also was over cooked I think they need to change there oil. The only good thing I got was the potato salad and cream corn. Portions of the cat fish was one small piece but with it being over cooked it was tasteless. Left the restaurant and went to another place to eat I was it happy with the meal at all. Paid my check and was ask how it was I said not impressed. Just moved to Dandridge and thought it would be a nice place to eat if I could give it a 0 star that is what my experience was. I have worked as a waitress for over 30 years there were no mask was worn by the staff or customers. Don't know how they got good reviews or return customers. We stopped in for breakfast after having a fun vacation in East TN. The cooks know how to make delicious southern biscuits and homemade gravy! My eggs were perfect too. When I can dip my biscuit in the warm gooey yolk, I'm so happy! We loved every bite and enjoyed constant refills of our coffee. The servers were attentive and the other customers were friendly to our kids. The restaurant was clean and bright and in a perfect location by the interstate and highway. My family went to Owens as we have for years and I could not believe the lack of service. We sat at a booth and the resturant was half full. One server came and cleaned a table right next to us and then sat down in booth directly behind ours and did not say a word to us . No " I'll be with u in a minute , or let me get u some menus" nothing- then another server brought some drinks to the table next to ours, walked passed us, and sat in the same booth as the other server (they were talking to a lady in the booth) . Nothing was said to us - not even a greeting- I asked my husband "are we invisible?" So we sat there about 10 minutes with absolutely no acknowledgement from any server whatsoever- 10 minutes too long. We got up and walked out and we won't be back. We have long been patrons of Owens and we appreciate servers and always tip well because we know how hard they work and how little they are paid. Not sure what has happened but service has declined dramatically. To not even be greeted and totally ignored is unacceptable. read more

There are not a lot of choices along I-40 outside of fast food, and we wanted a real meal. We were also not wanting to take a long lunch. We took a chance and headed into Owens. A clean diner with friendly staff. Our waitress Kristy took our drink and food orders quickly and the food was served within 10 minutes- my husband had the ribs lunch special that came with 3 sides and cornbread for only $7.50. And it was good! My son and I had sandwiches and our daughter ordered breakfast for lunch. We were in and out in 35 minutes! read more

The breakfast food was great but our server was horrible. She was in a bad mood from the start. Your job is to take a tables order then carry it to the table. Is it really that hard to do with a smile on your face or at least be friendly? She had long dark hair and was middle aged. Having a unhappy / negative attitude server will cause loss of customers. We were looking for a breakfast spot and found Owen's on Yelp and decided to try it. They had many choices for breakfast...pancakes of various types, steak and eggs, omelettes etc. I had bacon, eggs biscuits and gravy and a short stack of regular pancakes (2). Hubs had country ham, eggs home fries, biscuit, gravy. Everything was very good and the wait staff kept our coffee refilled.
