They're not stingy with their fish portion or try to fill you up with rice. The staff is super attentive without unnecessarily hovering over your meal. It was confusing from the Ozen sushi at Buena Park. The Buena Park is "all you can eat" however, this location isn't AYCE. For appetizer, I ordered calamari tempura which wasn't looked like a real calamari that I ate before. (2 out of 10). I ordered a sushi roll which had too much fake crab legs. It had shrimp inside and salmon outside (looked like salmon). The taste was ok (4 out of 10). I didn't like the atmosphere and decoration. They sat me next to the front door while they had other empty seats in the back. Their door didn't function properly and was open all the time and the cold wind was bothersome. IF it happens one would expect an apologetic nature, perhaps a voucher for a free meal to redeem yourself...Not here, if you get sick from your food and complain about it they treat you like the bad guy and BAN YOU. It's like they don't know about the internets, this new fandangle source for telling others about their exceptional (or horrible) experiences. Well I'd like to welcome Ozen Sushi to the internets! behold while you're business tanks and goes belly up because you serve unsafe food then punish people for saying something about it. "When you are fooling around, you need to tip". This is what the hostess said to my 15 YEAR OLD sister for doing homework while waiting for her food. First of all I am writing this review for my sister as she is a minor. The service was TERRIBLE. She went in yesterday to eat with her friend. While waiting for her food, they decided to do a little homework. My sister and her friend noticed both the kitchen staff and waitress kept staring at them for some reason and made them extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Then, when they received their food my sisters ramen was bland and the texture was straight up cup of noodles and not even hot. IF you are going to treat kids who are studying while waiting for their food as rude customers and then DEMAND a tip. You can keep your subpar ramen and your incompetent attitude. We came to watch a movie in the center and wanted to grab dinner first. I'm glad we stopped here because they have a great variety of specialty rolls to order. The prices are very reasonable as well. We enjoyed the complimentary (and appreciatively hot) miso soup as well as our orders of: hot tea, (1) Mixed Tempura (shrimp and vegetables), and (2) White Fish Tempura Service was only OK -- surprisingly not very friendly, smiley, or attentive (no offers to refill water or tea). I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem! My family of 4 plus gramps came from the east coast and really liked what we got! Hubby and I got the lunch special- I think the lobster one and crunchy one? Both were super filling and a great value (see oexcept the hand roll was spicy like none other! Like haaaa haaaa I could only eat one bite spicy. It doesn't say it's spicey on the menu, so I felt a bit bummed that I could've had a better hand roll experience. The staff did go out of their way to fix a shrimp tempura roll for my otherwise allergic to fish son, so that was much appreciated! Ok so shame on me for giving second chances to businesses. The last time that we ordered from here, the sushi was very mediocre at best and to top it off, all 4 of us got "sick", won't be too descriptive. My daughter almost instantly felt sick. Well, we had another craving tonight and we thought why not, maybe it was us....yeah I know, dumb move. Same as the last time, just like a pool guy (not to offend any pool guys), but in and out in less than 5 minutes :) I love my pool guy by the way. I do a lot of takeout orders via phone call and they have always had the order ready by the time I show up to pick it up. This is a small local gem located in the Foothill Ranch Food Festival in Lake Forest. This is a full service restaurant with a sushi bar, and they serve beer, wine and sake only. It was busy during a weekday lunch hour, with the restaurant almost full and also getting plenty of takeout orders. The menu is extensive and offers everything from traditional sashimi and sushi to a large assortment of fusion rolls. Tempura, noodles and grilled items are also available. Lunch bento boxes are from $7.95 to $9.95; lunch sushi combos run from $9.95 to $11.95. The prices are good as the portions are large. What we ordered: SALMON TERIYAKI AND TEMPURA LUNCH BENTO BOX ($8.95): It came with a large piece of salmon, tempura shrimp and veggies, 2 pieces of fried gyoza dumplings, salad, and rice. It's a good looking bento box (see picture) and a great value at Foothill Ranch which most of you know is an expensive area. The salmon was really good, without one bit of fishy taste which I cannot stand. The sauce was tasty and it's good that it's not too sweet. The salad came in an Asian vinaigrette dressing which was soy sauce based with a good touch of sesame and ginger flavors. The entire box was delish! RAINBOW ROLL ($9.50): This was a pretty generic fusion roll made with California rolls topped with an assortment of sashimi which included tuna, salmon, various white fishes, avocado and shrimp. It tasted fresh and was yummy! Service was adequate and ok but really not up to par with similar Japanese restaurants. But I have to say that's understandable as we were there during the peak time of lunch hour and they were a bit overwhelmed, especially by the takeout orders. Overall, good food and great value. We'll be back soon to try their other bento boxes and their large varieties of fusion rolls. read more

We had some sashimi from Ozen at a friend's party and it was great, so we decided to give the restaurant a try. We previously wrote it off because of its location - in a food court next to a movie theatre. But this restaurant is proof you should not judge a book by its cover. Overall, the rolls and sashimi are good, and decently sized. The "sashimi combo" has enough fish for two to three people to enjoy. Plus they always have coupons available, so you can get a discount pretty easily. The sushi chefs are friendly and receptive to requests. Although things can be a bit inconsistent, Ozen is reliably tasty and a welcome addition to our stable of regularly visited restaurants. We've been looking for another decent sushi place in Foothill Ranch for a couple years now. What a fortunate discovery. read more
