Consistent place for sushi. Fish quality is good, service is good, and prices are fair. We go here very often, despite the bit of drive for us to get here. This is weird but I recommend the mussels. So I was working in the area and my and my buddy stopped to eat here , we still had our work clothes on which weren't dirty nor nothing, crazy. Long story short we felt discriminated, because we're really brushed off the whole stay, we were given attitude through out the whole thing , at first they were taking forever to take our order so a different server was passing by, and we asked to take our order, and she took it for us and she gave us so much attitude. No smiles , not 1 'you're welcome' After saying thankyou so many times. And we noticed how everybody else was being treated and it was nothing like it was for us. The food wasn't that great and wasn't worth the unpleasant experience . When I finally paid for our food, I touched the 'No Tip' option and the lady got mad after seeing I didn't tip and still asked me why I didn't tip and I told her why, and shortly after leaving I seen my bank statement and that they still took a 7$ tip. This was my first visit, although I'm in the area regularly. I had about an hour before a movie I was attending started. I decided to get something different from the usual pizza or burger, and I love sushi. As I was by myself the greeter set me at the sushi bar and took my order. Ozen is a little larger than I had expected and even during a weekday there was a nice size lunch crowd. They have a decent selection of rolls, bento boxes and ala carte items on the menu, plus a good selection of sake. The beer selection is limited but they had several bottled brands I like. I was given a bowl of miso, which was quite good. My order arrived quickly and was delicious. Everything was fresh and the chefs knew what they were doing. This place offers great sushi rolls, sashimi, udon, and Bento meals. It's a great spot to have dinner right before/after a movie since it's conveniently located in towne center next to Regal Cinemas. They are great for take-out or dine in. If you do decide to dine in, sit at the sushi bar in front of Steve! He is the best sushi chef there, in my opinion. This review and rating is pertaining the service, or rather lack of, and the attitudes of the wait staff. I want to preface that the food has been good and quick and we have no complains about the food. Having said that, we found this place recently and almost every weekend I take my two boys for some sushi. The service was never warm or welcoming, nor was their any check back or follow up once order is placed, drinks dropped and once food's dropped we didnt see the staff return back to check. Yet we patronized because as alluded food is good and its close to our house. We always order around 5-6- dishes, dont fuss and have always tipped over 20% even when we didnt get service for which 20% is warranted. However today was probably the final straw for me. Went in there in the afternoon and were the only table there. I used to work in the service industry and if I had a repeat customer, trust me by the 3rd time I would know their name, what they drink and know their order by heart. Having come here every week for the past two months, yet we were greeted as first timers. No problem there. Both the ladies never tried to warm up to my young boys or ever tried to build any rapport. As alluded, these ladies drop and disappear- no biggie as we are there for the food mainly. However today when asked for chopstick helpers, we almost immediately got scolded by both the ladies as if we were asking for something unreasonable, and were told they dont have it. No apologetic tone, no empathy as my boys liked to use helpers, no remorse- just cold rejection. Every sushi restaurant carries these and its ok if they ran out. However initially they sounded condescending and arrogant and it was the final straw for us. I was perplexed and upset and I had made a point to inform the staff that their attitude and delivery was both unwelcoming and u professional. In the restaurant industry where i worked over 6 years, we used to always say, "Every cover matters" and I would assume that would very much apply to a small business as Ozen. Yet time and again I observed staff being unwelcoming and just being order takers. Not sure if they only like to cater to a certain clientele or happy with only their regulars, but this for me is unacceptable and I unfortunately will not be returning although I loved the food. This spot is located in a nicely ventilated outdoor food court. Ambiance is nice but I'd recommend trying out any of the other places in the court because the food here was very average. I had the salmon teriyaki bento, with spicy tuna roll. The sushi rice didn't taste like it was seasoned and the salmon was a bit overcooked. Fairly small portion as well. Came here today for lunch with my co-workers to celebrate my bosses birthday. We chose sushi because it's her favorite food and Ozen is down the street from our office. I understand that there is a lunch rush and you are trying to get customers in and out as quickly as possible but our server did not have any common sense. Food is whatever's, you get plenty of food for what you paid for but quality is not the best. It's not authentic sushi since it is Korean owned and they were playing K-Pop. This review is more strictly towards the common sense that our server did not have. I came in early to hand her a birthday cake AND candles. Hoping to get the birthday cake out WITH candles after our meal. When I asked for the cake at the end our server gave me the cake still in the box and container of candles. Okay.. Why did I bring a cake in the first place? You ruined the surprise and pretty much wanted to rush us out. Never have this ever happened to me or have I ever seen this. Every restaurant I've been to has been accommodating when it came to helping out with bringing out a cake with candles already lit for a birthday celebration after everyone is done with their meal. Is the server new? Where's the common sense to this? Why would you bring out the cake still covered with no candles on top. I used to work at a sushi restaurant back then and they are a lot more busier than this restaurant and no matter how busy we are we still light candles on a cake and bring it out to our customers when it came to birthdays. Came in for a bento box during lunch time and it took about 20 minutes to come out. The sushi was worse than grocery store sushi- the salmon was tasteless. Very bad customer service. We go there a lot to order take out for my kids. This time I decided to order for myself as well. There was not exactly a mistake with my order. The person helped me pick but it wasn't what I wanted so she agreed to replace it. So far it's all good and friendly. All of a sudden This guy who I don't know is the manager or what comes and talks so loud the customers start looking at him. Tells me he can't replace my order and argues then says if he replaces my order he has to throw the first one away and IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY. The dish was less than $10. Very unprofessional not to mention disrespectful and rude. The ATTITUDE and RUDE and EMBARRASSING BEHAVIOR is what bothered me most not his decision to not replace the order. With all the rave reviews about this place, it ended up being pretty disappointing. Ozen is what appears to be another Korean owned sushi restaurant. And from what I've noticed - these restaurants always have a bunch of rolls that are essentially California rolls with some different type of fish on top of that roll. Ozen is no different. Most of their roll menu is akin to this rule. Rolls I tried: Alaskan roll, Baked Lobster Roll, Dragon Roll All three of these rolls were california rolls with some variation on what was placed on top. The Alaskan had salmon. The baked lobster had langostino (not lobster), and the dragon had some eel with tiny teeny pieces of avocado with it. None of the rolls held up well - when you picked up any piece, they just sort of shattered and crumbled into a pile of rice, seaweed and imitation crab. Thus, it was hard to get a good bite of all the combined flavors. Secondly, they drench everything with some sort of eel sauce which is just sickingly sweet. I've never had sushi taste so sweet before. Nevertheless, I came because I had a coupon and I saw all the rave reviews. Unfortunately, the sushi was sloppy and not tasty. The place isn't cheap either. Next time, I'll just make the five minute drive down to Lake Forest for some better sushi instead. read more

My friends, family and I love to go to this place randomly for lunch and casual dinner! Good quality food! The only thing we always notice is the attitude of the waitresses! I don't know if it's the culture but it's so different. They are way too serious...no smile! Very far from the American customer service experience.
