But they were oh so good... and fresh. We came for lunch and they we're fairly empty, but an hour later they were packed. If you're coming for dinner, you might want to reserve your crabs ahead of time. If you know how to eat these, then you're fine. They put paper on the table and give you a bucket for the shells, as well as crackers and silverware. We added a side order of parsley potatoes -- just to break up the old bay and crab -- to cleanse the palate. Prices are very competitive. Crabs are not cheap but... it's Cheaper than most places in southeast Florida. Right now the crabs are from local waters and the freshness shows.. We had to ask for compensation, it wasn't offered. 20% of my meal $2ish was not worth being starving & getting cranky, while everyone else finish their meals. I was disappointed. We were looking forward to a great old Florida eating experience. It was just OK. The place is funny and funky and very casual. We sat outside on the shady patio and enjoyed the warm evening breeze. We were greeted cordially by our server and offered and brought drinks right away. Off to a great start. I ordered the mahi-mahi blackened with fries. The other people in the group ordered mahi-mahi as well, but ordered grilled. While waiting on our main dish we ordered oysters. That's when things started going downhill. The oysters were quite small and were not properly shucked. The teeny bites of meat were almost impossible to get out. When we got our entrees, all the items were cooked the same. Mine was not blackened. Not a big deal, but the fish was over cooked. While it tasted fine, it was quite dry. The fries were good, but not outstanding. We were hungry so ate the meal. The manager came out to apologize for and said to come back again and they would make it right. I was not expecting a refund as most of us had eaten most of our meals. We were visiting family so probably will not come back. This is our favorite seafood restaurant to go to in the area! We love seafood!!! We had heard about this place from a few friends so we decided to finally check it out. My family and I went on a Sunday afternoon. There was no one in the parking lot so that made we concerned at first. We walked up to the bar/smaller dining area and seated ourselves. The server was very friendly and took our drink order immediately. Once we ordered, our server came over and placed newspapers on the table and gave us all place mats. We stared off with fried gator...tender, fresh, and yummy!!! We waited another 15 minutes for our lunch, but it was well worth it. My husband and I shared a large seafood platter: blue crabs, shrimp scampi, large crab legs, and a side of loaded mashed potatoes. I ordered kids meals for both of our boys. After we stuffed ourselves we still had food to take home with us. I was amazed with how much they gave us on our tray. Well I took my uncle to ozzies last night and from the moment we walked in we could tell our experience was going to be terrible. It was filthy which I mean it's a crab stop but this place is nasty. We opted to sit on the second deck because the ground level didn't look pleasing. After sitting and asking the waiter for multiple drinks that they didn't have I decided to order a frog leg appetizer. 15 minutes after I order the appetizer I was told that they were out. Ok no big deal. We decided to order our main entrees. We both wanted king crab legs with a lobster tail and a side salad. Well we were told that they were out of king crab. And after the waiter telling us to fish for it ourselves we politely paid for our sodas and got the hell out of there. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I love seafood and glad to have this place in my backyard. I had blue crabs and they were very sweet and meaty. You could tell they were fresh. I got it in the garlic butter. Theirs is not my favorite it tasted like pure melted butter no garlic. I added old bay and was a happy camper. This place is not cheap, the crabs are market price and the sides were a la cart. I don't even know where to start. We got this place as a recommendation from somebody but honestly I don't know why. Tables were dirty, atmosphere was very weird and we overall just felt uncomfortable. We ordered potato skins to start while we were deciding. We ended up just eating the skins and leaving because we didn't feel comfortable eating there. $7 for a potato cut in quarters with cheese and some bacon. Oh and packets of sour cream. I was a little hesitant to try Ozzie's after reading reviews but we gave it a shot. The service was awesome, no complaints there. The Ozzie's delight dish (pasta with seafood) was good and had plenty of seafood on it. The sauce was mostly butter but I still enjoyed it. The fried shrimp platter was very small, my husband was still hungry and was glad my pasta dish was large. The fried seafood combo looked ok, the crab cake was described as "different" but not as a complaint. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner. It's not fancy but the beer is cold and the food is decent. We arrived at 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. The place was dead, which is how we like it. By the time we left at five, things were picking up, and that was well before the musicians arrived. Ozzie's has different kinds of music every night, so you might want to call ahead if you're picky as to genre. Anyway, a cook came out into the empty dining room and assured us that they were open and quickly fetched Shelly our server (hereinafter SOS), who waited patiently while we examined half a dozen rooms and niches until Goldilocks found the table that was just right, which was in the second floor open porch. After fielding our beer questions, SOS fetched a couple of drafts, ice water, and the menus, which were bigger than some phone books. We were overwhelmed and put ourselves in SOS's hands. We started with the oysters which that night were from New Orleans. We had a dozen on the half Shell. They had a nice briny flavor though with a little less of the oyster liquor than we would have liked. These were about $13 a dozen and well worth it, though we moaned audibly when SOS informed us that the same oysters were fifty-five cents each the night before. Oh, well, it gives us a reason to return for next week's Tuesday night oyster special. For the next course, SOS recommended conch chowder and crab gumbo, warning us that they were quite spicy. This was fine with us. We got cups, saving capacity for another course. The bowls are a better deal if you can handle the quantity. In our opinion, the crab gumbo was more a soup, shouldn't have had tomatoes and should have had a roux base, but maybe we're being picky. The two dishes were indeed spicy without being ridiculous about it. While the conch was evident in my chowder and the crab was visible in my partner's creole, neither tasted very strongly of shell fish. Part of this was due to the spiciness. We both agreed more conch and more crab would have helped. Do you know anyone who ever felt that such a dish had too much seafood? I think the larger problem was that the conch and crab were probably so fresh that they were too delicate. If you're going to have a problem with fish, this is a good one to have. For our final course, SOS pretty much insisted that we get the Ozzie Sandwich, a grilled fish on garlic bread affair with a large cast of supporting ingredients, not least of which was the house made Sassy Sauce. Come to think of it, the other two courses had great house made sauces as well. We went into Ozzie's with considerable hunger. We left quite full with a Styrofoam box. The bill for everything was about $42 and would have been under thirty without the excellent drafts. We thought that the money was well spent. A friend is visiting us next Tuesday, and we plan to return for oyster night, a table covered with garlicky blue crabs, and what I think will be blue grass music. I expect good service and am no longer surprised when I get it. I think that most waiters try to do a good job. Why wouldn't they? However, Shelly's excellence deserves mention. No doubt the other servers at Ozzie's are great, too. Final note: I don't like to give five stars too freely, but four don't seem adequate. There are some people who would call Ozzie's a dive and ask how it can get five stars when I might give three stars to a $$$$$ restaurant that routinely delivers demonstrably superior meals. This is a problem that we may all have when trying to deliver fair reviews. I would submit that a dining experience at a place like Ozzie's that vastly exceeds expectations deserves five stars and that it is not inconsistent to downgrade a high end restaurant that doesn't stand out among its peers. read more

We are from out of town but came here because they offered Maryland style blue crabs. I'm originally from Maryland and where I live now really doesn't have anything close to having blue crabs so I wanted to give this a shot. We ordered the jumbo dozen crabs and when tho solace says jumbo they are not messing around! The crabs were freaking huge! Price was $69 a dozen and given the size of the crabs I'd say it was worth it. The service was really good as well. We also ordered some shrimp as an appetizer. My only complaint was that both the crabs and the shrimp were either steamed too long or something. Not sure exactly what it was but both proteins were just a little on the verge of tasting a bit over cooked. Some reviews said the place was dingy or "gross" and I have no clue what the heck they are talking about. They must've never been to a seafood shack before because this was one of the cleaner, nicely done ones I've seen. Price for everything was good and they offer live music multiple days a week. Parking is a bit tricky though and when we went they weren't even packed so plan ahead for that. Overall I'd recommend this place. read more

I come here at least once every two weeks and order their king crab legs and/or their seafood pasta. They have the best seafood pasta I have ever tasted. Old iceberg lettuce with Kraft shredded cheese sprinkled on it and a unripe wedge of tomato. 2 of the smallest lobsters you've ever seen. 10 oz maybe. Looked more like big crawfish. BTW, the minimum legal size for lobster caught in Maine is 1 pound. These were more like 10 oz. No wonder, your menu had it spelled "Main Lobster" TWICE! I guess you cant be accused of false advertising now. 2 Maryland style crabs, which like the lobster were frozen. Meat pulled away from the shell and dried out.. Plus way over cooked. Little neck clams. So much sand, the shells were covered. Note to ozzies, Rinse the clams before steaming. Otherwise you might as well just serve sand to dip them in. Shrimp and snow crabs were good. This is not a five-star fancy restaurant. I awarded five stars because of the food, atmosphere and phenomenal service. This would be an excellent feature for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It is just a local, hole-in-the wall that serves delicious seafood. My wife and I dropped in on a Sunday afternoon exploring drive over to the coast. My wife had the blackened mahi and said it was a little overdone. She used a table sauce to add a little moisture and said that it was great. I had the fries seafood platter. My fish was perfect and the shrimp was incredible. When we come back I will go straight for the shrimp platter. I also had an order of hush puppies and they were very good. I always add a smear of butter and a dollop of honey to my hush-puppies to enhance the flavor. Do not miss the cole-slaw; it has a slight vinegar flavor that is very light and refreshing. We ate out on the upstairs porch and could hear the slight strains of the live jazz music inside. It was a great setting and all the servers were friendly and helpful. They were very busy so service was delayed; for my wife and I this just added to the charm of a relaxing and enjoyable casual dining experience. Don iscome here in a rush; come to chillax and have fun. I cannot forget to mention our server, Angela. The blue crabs are steamed the Maryland way not boiled as they are at some places . That's the good news ! The bad news is the reliability of their supply . Sizing is also an issue . Sometimes the Jumbos ( usually hard to find they have ) are large , large are mediums at best. The boat runs (females and males ) aren't worth the effort The service can vary from great to terrible . It's just not the way it could be , if more effort was put in place , especially the supply reliability issue . The automatic charging of 18 % gratuity is a problem for me . I am a more than generous tipper, and leave cash , but if the service is bad I believe I should have a choice on the amount . I can agree on the gratuity for parties of six or more, but not for two to four people . read more

The salad came out right away but we had to wait almost 10 minutes for utensils. Wings and oysters were ok. We sent back the crab cake bc it had a foul smell to it. It didn't even make it in my mouth. And the fried crab cake didn't come with no sauce at all just a wedge of lemon. My pasta came out and I had regular chicken and lobster mixed in the pasta. Now I wanted them on separate sides because I was sharing with my 7 year old and didn't want to fish through the pasta for my protein. So notified the waiter and he took the plate away and came back 10 minutes later only to ask me if I wanted my chicken on the side or on the side on a plate. On a business trip and looking for good seafood, I chose this one because they had King Crab legs one of my favorites! Well was I shocked when they brought out this plate with these tiny tiny crab legs. I swear those were no Kin Crab. To make it worse, they were awful. I fought the good fight to get all that tiny meat out of those tiny legs. It just was not worth it. I swear at one point I almost just gave up and decided to go to Burger King. The moral is, really check reviews carefully before choosing a place you're not familiar with. I could have spent that fifty bucks at a better place. Decided to venture north and try this restaurant we found on local dines. I don't like seafood so I order the prime rib sandwich. It was huge and very tasty. Came with a choice of side. My husband ordered the Neptune platter. It took him over an hour to finish his meal. We sat inside downstairs which I didn't care for the atmosphere. My husband looked upstairs and we would of eaten outside put there were no tables available. We didn't realize there was another indoor area upstairs, we were not given an option when we came in.
