Where do I start? I can't believe it took me 44 years on this Earth to eat as a PF Chang's. This was the best Chinese meal I have ever had hands down, and ranks up there with the best meals I have ever had, period. We timed our arrival to coincide with opening time, we were the first table seated, and then it began. Our server was top notch, smiled the entire time and made us feel right at home. We got the Salt and Pepper Calamari with two egg rolls for a starter, the egg rolls didn't arrive until the main course came, so they were comped, first sign that this was going to be a good meal. The Calamari was the best I have ever had, as were the egg rolls, fresh, perfectly seasoned and no bitterness that often comes with them. For the mains, Diana had Mongolian Beef and I had the combo Lo Mein. Both dishes were absolute perfection. Our server said that they had been prepared by the head chef, and that he was the one that told her to comp the egg rolls, yet another bonus point for her. A buddy of mine had given me a card to be taken to the restaurant and opened only by the server, you could receive a free meal, dessert, starter, etc. Ours was a free dessert. I was completely full, so I asked for the dessert to go, I ordered the blueberry cheesecake. She told me that the free dessert could be used for the 3 for one dessert, and that I should try that. I got the blueberry cheesecake, the tiramisu, and the red velvet cake. I smashed every bit of it when we got back home. I have nothing bad to say about this visit, everything was top notch. My only complaint is that other Chinese restaurants will never be the same again. I am a PF Chang's fan. Oh, and by the way, the bill was only $50, we left a $20 tip, and she was worth every cent. read more

Ugh. So my family tends to prefer locally-owned restaurants and aim for farm to table when we eat out (love Monuts, Refectory Cafe, etc), but occasionally we stop at chains. Tonight we were really craving some bang bang shrimp from Bonefish (which is near PF Chang's) but there was a 25 minute wait and we had a hungry toddler so we decided to just do PF Chang's since there was no wait. But honestly, the service at PF's was sooo slow that we could have stayed at Bonefish, waited 25 min, and still finished before we did at PF's. PF's biggest merit is that it's right off of 40 and near Southpoint, and it's big so there isn't usually much of a wait. Southpoint has a ton of chains that overshadow the more locally owned restaurants and I admit that when I'm in the area I tend to eat at a chain here since it's just easier. But after tonight, I was reminded the vast difference in quality between fresh local food and food that was most likely frozen at a warehouse and reheated at the restaurant. In other words, I've had a stomachache since I left PF's an hour ago. It was really frustrating for all our food to take so long. It wasn't busy when we arrived, although it was busy when we left around 7:30. We waited forever for our appetizer (we went to PF's to try their dynamite shrimp hoping it would be like bang bang shrimp but it was a very poor imitation). I asked for our toddler's food to come out early but it still took forever. They didn't bring a children's menu (which they do have, along with crayons) which would have made a huge difference for our antsy kid, and when I asked the waiter he just said he'd recite the food to me, missing the point entirely. We got her a cup of soup, a side of avocado (this was like 1/32 of an avocado, and we ended up ordering an additional 'side' of it so she'd have enough food), and "buddha's feast", which turned out to be some tasteless microwaved veggies. Not impressed by the kids' selections. But this shouldn't be surprising. I ordered the honey crispy chicken, which was chicken pieces in a syrupy sauce over bland rice sticks. The sauce, legit, was basically orangey corn syrup. I felt nauseous eating it and eventually gave up and just gave it to my husband, who will eat anything (and he seemed happy with his pork fried rice, incidentally). My family eats at Red Bowl in Chapel Hill often, and their food is MUCH better (and faster!!! and cheaper!!!!). Even the egg roll was bad! I didn't know you could screw up an egg roll. I'm going to wrap it up because I realize this is getting long but just to sum it up: I spent $70 on tasteless, fake food that made my stomach hurt and took FOREVER to get. I do not recommend it. If you want a chain, try Bonefish. If you want Asian, go to Red Bowl in Chapel Hill. Or try all the myriad local options in Durham. I feel frustrated with myself that we wasted our time and money here. read more

This is the chain restaurant that sets the bar for gluten free restaurant / take-out experiences. Both online and in the restaurant, they have a second and completely full menu of all gluten free dishes, right down to the deserts. Think you have to pay more for gluten free? Nope. It's all at the same price. There's no asking the staff to speak with someone from the kitchen to see what's safe or what can be prepared differently. Instead, you can simply order from the GF menu and everything is always perfect. It's the same story online. Just click "gluten free menu" at the top of the online ordering system and then select what you want. Just for added piece of mind, they even itemize the order with little GF icons in front of everything you order so you always know there's no confusion. If you're eating in the restaurant, you'll notice that all GF items arrive on different shaped plates than are used on the standard menu (circle vs. square, so they don't stand out to the uninitiated). I'm told this is so that all staff knows that the items on them are gluten free and thus prevents mistakes / cross contamination. Great idea! If you're doing take-out, when you arrive to pick up an online order, the staff reviews the order with you and literally packs your to-go bag in front of you. All GF items have blaze orange GF stickers... again... people that have to eat gluten free love having piece of mind that people get it and don't brush the issue off or take it lightly... PF Chang's clearly gets it! Thanks so much for setting the standard for gluten free eating out or take-away. You guys are great. Oh, and the food is awesome. Their Beef a la Sichuan with extra beef and brown rice with Tamari is perfect. For an appetizer, you have to go with the Chang's lettuce wraps. We went in on a saturday night and even though we had made a reservation, had to wait more than 45 mins to get seated. The wait time for our food was even ridiculous. They didnt even bring in the plates and silverware till after the appetizer was served. So many things wrong with this place that i cant even go into all details. Went to this restaurant 1/07/2023 for a birthday dinner. Reservations were made for 6 p.m. but needed to be pushed back (restaurant request to be pushed back an hour) which means the party had to meet at 7 p.m.(no problem)...The did not get seated until after 8:15 p.m. This location does not do well with large parties. The manager only one waitress to a table of 20 people. We didn't get beverages for 30mins and food for another hour later. The waitress was extremely nice but manager never offered any assistance to her. At one point the manager and the two greeters were on their phones while the waitress was struggling with the orders of 20 people. The one person that did help with carrying the drinks put his mouth on the glass to steady the glass so it wouldn't fall. I've heard a lot of talk about this particular restaurant but nothing about how good it is seemed to hit the spot for me or anyone in the party. One of the customers in the party saw staff drinking on the job behind the building while she went to her car (while on the clock) she pointed each worker out as they came to the floor to serve food to other people. When addressing our complaints about the service the manager was too busy saying she understands but didn't really understand. In other words the manager was not managing......If you are someone that's going with a large birthday party I don't recommend this particular restaurant. I haven't been to a P.F. Chang's in a long time but I recalled it being wonderful and we were in the plaza making a stop at REI. The hunger was upon us and my daughter was all excited about the dragon statues in front so we decided to give it a try. We got seated right away and once we were at the table we were quickly greeted by our server who promptly brought us our drink orders. I was disappointed to find almost nothing to drink for my 4 year old daughter and we went through 3 of her requested items before they had something that she wanted. As with any time we go out to dinner we always put an order in for our daughter immediately. When we find ourselves at a location with no kids items on the menu we always default to noodles, we know she will eat them and every place can make them. The server had to go in back to check to see if it was possible. Seriously your a Chinese joint I know you have noodles, what do you need to check on! After a few minutes our server returned and said noodles wouldn't be a problem. While we waited and talked one of the first things I noticed was the background music was turned up way to loud. I can only assume it is an effort to cover up the volume of the people at the table next to you which is only like a foot away. Our server returned with my daughters noodles and took our orders. I asked the server about chopsticks for our daughter and he looked at me funny, then responded with "Ummmmm we don't have kids chopsticks." Seriously! how long have you been working in the Chinese food industry, what on earth are kids chopsticks? Are they shorter then adult chopsticks? What he was actually referring to was trainer chopsticks, which any good server in an asian restaurant knows you can make out of a rubber band and a piece of paper. So I borrowed a hair tie and piece of paper from my wife and educated our server on how to make trainer chopsticks. Our server seemed amazed and quickly scurried back to his fellow servers. I couldn't help but laugh as I watched him show his friends what he had learned. My daughter started to eat her noodles and immediately complained that they tasted funny. Knowing she often says this when she doesn't want to eat, I tasted the noodles and found them to have a strange after taste that took me a couple bites to identify. It was the after taste of smoke and gas (like the kind from a gas stove not the kind you put in your car). It was awful! We continued to talk (very loudly so we could hear each other over the music) as we waited for our food. Which came out of the kitchen pretty quickly. It wasn't the best tasting in the world but it wasn't the worst either. The desert was great but I expect they don't actually make the deserts in house and they more then likely bring them in from another location. All and all it made for an ok dinner out, at least I didn't have to cook. That said you won't find me going back here any time again soon. read more

We went in there and had an issue with one of the managers seating a big party and refused our service. 2 days later I was near the restaurant and was chased down by another manager who wanted to apologize for how the situation was handle. We went back that night and they had a table ready for us during a busy time, had great customer service and the manager Corey definitely made a bad situation 100% better. Experienced horrible service, there was huge delay in getting our order in, literally had to wait for 30 min before the server could come and take our order. Their takeout, when you pick it up yourself, is also usually spot on. However, this memorial day I was enjoying my day off from work and my wife had an email saying it was free delivery on an order 25 or more so we decided to give it a try (since I shouldn't be driving). This email swayed our decision from other meals and we were excited, to our later chagrin. I wish we didn't tip the driver in advance. We had an estimated delivery of 6:04. About 6 o:clock the online indicator showed that the food was picked up and out for delivery. We waited another easy 20 minutes (it was longer, but I'm erring on the shorter side). I live only 5 minutes of heavy traffic away from this location. I don't know if the driver picked up multiple deliveries and hit us last, if he was late picking it up, or if he stopped for a nap but all of our hot meals showed up at room temperature and our cold salad showed up slightly warm. Now we're waiting another 20 minutes to heat everything up. (except the salad. C'mon now, it's in the fridge. Don't be silly) All in all, go here in person and you'll be good. I wouldn't ever order for delivery again though. I'm trying to be honest in my star rating because I don't think it is the restaurant's fault for the delivery. There were no less than 3 people idle standing at the front check in the entire hour I was in the restaurant . Why are they just standing around, doing nothing. The food was a huge disappointment. PF Chang's is your easy "I'm craving asian food but don't know where to go" place. It's also the easiest option when you have family in town having that craving and can't think of where to take them. Luckily, it's always delicious to me. Their egg rolls and wraps have always been my favorites. The wonton and egg drop soups are also easy go to choices. I do like that they serve Pad Thai, hadn't seen that option in their before. The restaurant is nice with lots of statues replicating the Chinese dynasties, but of course PF Chang's is a chain so you'll that in each restaurant. But when you want Chinese food, and don't wanna risk a small hole in the wall place, in the middle of nowhere that risks tasting like bland mush, PF Chang's doesn't disappoint. read more

I can't even begin to express how incredible my experience was tonight at P.F. Chang's. I wanted to have dinner here for my 53rd bday and we didn't make reservations. When we arrived we were told it would be at least a 45 minute wait. We weren't upset, but told them we would go somewhere else. As we got in the car a man was running to our car waving his hands. He held up two fingers and asked if we had two for dinner? He said, "I hate to see people leave, let me sneak you in the back and get you a table". What a freaking amazing gesture! Had a late night dinner at P.F. Chang. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai dish and it was a horrible mistake. The dish looked amazing. I went to eat it and the noodles were so hard. Very disappointing because we had to wait an extremely long time just to receive our food. The bartender took the plate trashed it right in front of us at the bar and offered a different dish. Picked up from PF Changs and was very disappointed. I ordered two Pad Thai and they were extremely spicy. That's not a dish that's supposed to be all that spicy. But in this case, it looked as if the cook had dumped a jar of red pepper and chili flakes into the dish. I like spicy food, but this simply did not taste good. It tastes like chili pepper flakes. And my wife doesn't eat spicy food, so the dish was not edible for her. Had we been at the restaurant, we would have sent it back. Unfortunately we were stuck with it since it was carry out. I ordered the Singapore Street Noodles for a lunch meeting. Good flavor throughout with beef as the primary protein. They serve the noodles with plenty of green onion tops and a wedge of lime. Surprisingly, the lime really helps make the dish go from blah to tasty. These are chain restaurant style dishes so they are aiming the tastes at the generic American palate which hurts in the authenticity column. read more

My boyfriend and I use to be big fans on P.F. Chang's. I feel it's sort of gone down hill on the food end, the restaurant looks nice though! I had the Lo Mien with chicken (Which I typically get) and I have to say the chicken was non existent and what i found was dried out and tough to eat, the vegetables tasted like nothing. Our server seemed too busy to really help us.. almost wasn't sure who our server was because so many people came over to drop things off at our table. We were with a couple that got the special deal of $39.95 and got a desert, my boyfriend and I weren't even offered a desert menu let alone a fork to dig into their cheesecake (which was bland). I had the Hong Kong Sea Bass as an entree. Initially, it was "cool" and rubbery. If this had been my teen, we would have had a solid discussion. She made it know that she was very put off that she had to seat us. Moving on the waitress was great and very accommodating. Mixed drink tasted terrible & she advised corporate had recently asked them to add an almond liquor to this particular drink. Well it tasted like it and was disgusting. She was happy to get me a new cocktail. Food was mediocre at best. PF Changs now is not what it was 5-10 years ago. Chicken was chewy, small portion sizes, and still not cheap. Delivery order through Grub Hub. Delivery person was delightful, however, the food was not. Ordered pork dumplings. signature lo mein and Chang's spicy chicken. Only the dumplings seemed like a full order. Chicken didn't even cover the bottom of the container. Similar issue with the lo mein which the added problem that the noodles were dumped on top of a sad skimpy pile of limp vegetables. We're familiar with PF Chang's and don't expect great food from them but this was extremely subpar. read more
