Every once in a while I crave P.F. Chang's. My favorite things on the menu are the Mongolian beef, the orange chicken, and the lettuce wraps. My biggest disappointment in this restaurant is the portion sizes. The food is meant to be "family/sharing style" and they bring you one dish with small plates for each person, but the portions are not huge. You need to order several dishes to get enough to fill you up, and the dishes are a little expensive if you're buying several. It's also usually pretty busy in here. The good: Flavor was awesome. Service was great. Water always topped off. Menus on your phone, and even pay the bill on your phone too. No more giving your credit card to employees who disappear with your cards. The not so good: minus one star for price. This place has always been more expensive than most other places within a mile radius of the mall, however it seems the price is getting to the point of not worth it for dinner. My Mongolian beef was $19. Again, as stated above it was delicious, but it was a hair shy of twenty bucks. Minus another star for portion size. I used to have to get a take out box every time getting this dish. 100% without fail, I couldn't finish it in the past. This time I ate all of it. And most of my mountain of rice. And still was picking at my wife's dish. Portion has to be at least half what it used to be. Possibly a third. We've been coming here to the Orem location since at least 2006. It's been a couple years as we lived away, but came back this week for our anniversary dinner. Overall dinner was super tasty, but at this price, I'd expect more food on my plate. I doubt we'll be back on my own dime, but would happily come back if work is paying. Don't let the 3/5 rating fool you on taste. Their food is great. I've always been a fan of P.F. Chang's and attempt to go there multiple times a year. I had a birthday reward through their app so I decided to order from them today for lunch and redeem it. Had some major issues with the delivery of the food but Kevin and Josephine (sry if I spelled it wrong!) at P.F. Chang's helped me out so much that even tho I had to go pick it up on my way to my 2nd job, 3 hrs later, they made it fresh and delicious. I've always been a fan of PF Chang's. With so many options there is always something great to try. They've got some great new lunch specials that celebrate Asian cuisine beyond classic Chinese options. I'm a fan of their Korean lunch special, but ultimately I love going and ordering family style. I have to admit that I find it a little on the pricey side, but the atmosphere is great and everyone always has a good time. It seems like they've had a couple of supply chain issues lately (given the Covid situation, very understandable) so a few dishes weren't available last time I went. I'm sure all of that will be sorted out soon. In the meantime, there are still plenty of wonderful options. read more

As far as chain Chinese restaurants go, P.F. Chang's is probably my favorite-but I'd recommend the downtown SLC location over this one. Service here is always slow-slower than I feel is to be expected. We had reservations, but still had to wait awhile to be seated. Then it took another good while to get drinks and place our order. We were short a setting at the table-but we made do by sharing utensils since our server didn't come back to check on us for so long. She was friendly and took care of us when she was there, but she was stretched too thin and wasn't able to come around often. We also ran out of drinks mid-meal and she didn't come to refill them until we were just about finished. The restaurant is dark-so dark that you can't read the menus. The table next to us had pulled out their cell phone flashlights so they could read the menus, and they were blinding us in the process. If they want to keep the moody ambiance, I'd suggest lighted menus-or at least a slightly brighter light above the tables. The food was wonderful-as it always is. Don't change the food, just up the service and ambiance game a little. read more

I understand that most chain restaurants hire cooks instead of chefs, but this location has slowly gone downhill over the last couple of years. Honestly, most of their entrées are not any better than Panda Express. In particular, I am talking about their lo mein. First, they no longer offer the pork version, they stopped using eggplant which added a rich flavor, and the sauce is incredibly bland. This last order I just received tasted almost exactly like the cheaper version you can get at panda express.. sad to say I will no longer be getting food from this location. It's better quality of course than say, Panda Express, and has some good dishes, but for me, the food didn't have anything so incredible that it seemed quite worth the pretty high prices. Now, if you're with a group and looking to leave with a decent check, then the family platters are a great way to go: it's twice the portion of the regular order of whatever plate it's for (which could go for between $15-18, and only $25, so depending on what you order you're saving $5-10. But, if you're wanting to splurge a bit more and get appetizers, the lettuce wraps are definitely the way to go! They give you a stack of fresh, crispy lettuce and a platter of an extremely flavorful chicken mix so you can make your own wraps. It was one of the best things I tried when I went there! As far as main dishes go, there's: - Crispy honey chicken: It's yummy fries chicken (nice and tender) in a sweet and sour type sauce. Keep in mind if you order it, though, that nothing else comes with it- not even cooked onions or peppers in the chicken. - Lo mein: These were the squishiest lo mein noodles I've ever eaten. Nice and wide, and the veggie version comes with a TON of cooked but crunchy veggies. It was almost too many for me, but if you're a vegetable lover you'll be in paradise. - Mongolian beef- it was pretty chewy, and comes with big pieces of green onion. Went back again today, the food was great the coconut drink was not. I loved the sesame chicken. It was fantastic, super sweet,great texture as well. Not super chewy and not super hard either. But my wife got noodles which she didn't like because it had no taste at all. Their was a lot mixed into it but their was no taste. It was weird because we walked into the restaurant and they were playing rape music in this restaurant. Which created a very confusing black panther casino scene vibe. Here's the thing about P.F. Chang's. It always sounds like a really good idea to go there, but then you go and end up being very underwhelmed. I ordered the Chicken Lo Mein tonight and it was pleasant and filled me up, but definitely not the yummiest thing I've ever eaten. It's for sure a step up in quality from fast food Chinese restaurants, but not worth the extra $6-$10 more per plate you will be paying for it. I will say that our server was very friendly and helpful. And P.F. Chang's always serves large portions which is nice. I'm sure some day I'll be back. I've tried PF Chang's a few different times in my life, each time hoping that I'll understand why people claim to love it. But never fail, I leave feeling underwhelmed. I mean, it's okay. But don't go in with high expectations or you will surely be disappointed (and sometimes even with not high expectations...) I think it's fair to say that the lettuce wraps are one of the better dishes. We did try the orange ginger edamame this time and I was pleasantly surprised with that one. And then going with the crisp honey seems to be the one thing I've found that is solid. You can go with chicken or shrimp. Overall, most things are just not quite there with the flavor. This place is an absolute joke. I am so astonished it is even open. We placed a curbside pickup order to be ready at 7pm on New Year's Eve. UNDERSTANDING it would probably be swamped, we ordered a day in advance. When we arrived to pick it up at 7 we were told our order would be STARTED and it would be a 30-60 minute wait. No one could give us an answer as to why our food wasn't being started until AFTER we should have had it. They also claimed it was their policy to serve people who walked in off the street before curbside pickups that had ALREADY been paid for. By the time an hour comes around of us waiting, we were told it would be ANOTHER 30 minutes but "no guarantees". We also found out there were people waiting for their curbside pickup since SIX O CLOCK!! So, knowing full well we would not have our food within that time frame, they wasted an hour of our time for us to ultimately decide to not put up with that crap anymore and leave. All of this ridiculous situation had the cherry put on top with the absolutely rude and unsympathetic front desk girls. They did absolutely nothing to help us but make excuses and give us attitude. Going as far to say "you can come work for us if you want your food faster". I will literally go OUT of my way to make sure people know this place is horrible. It's not worth your time or money. If you liked over priced Chinese good this is the place to go! The food was good, nothing amazing. We got the lettuce wraps as an appetizer that had barely any meat. Then for our entrees we got the Pad Thai with chicken that had barely any chicken, the beef and broccoli where the broccoli wasn't even cooked and the orange chicken which seemed to be the best option. Dry Chicken with no flavor and not much sauce. Nothing-special salad with so much dressing. However, the water with lemon wedges was good! It had been a long time since I went to PF Chang's (my previous experience was for lunch in Austin, TX) I'm not sure what's going on here, or who is cooking in the back, but if I want fast American Chinese, I'll go to Panda next time, regardless of the celebration!
